The reason we started Privacy Files is to make the topic of privacy and personal data protection more approachable for a wider, global audience. Many people acknowledge that privacy is important, but they just don't know where to begin. At Privacy Files, we believe this begins with understanding your privacy risk exposure. In other words, it's about education. On November 4, 2023, Privacy Files hit the road and recorded this episode at the Anonyome Labs booth on the floor of the 2023 Utah Pinners Conference & Expo in the Greater Salt Lake City Area. Pinners is a two-day event where 35,000+ creative enthusiasts, DIY aficionados and expert makers meet. If you like Pinterest, Pinners is the place to be. Why were we there? As part of our core mission to make privacy approachable for everyone, we wanted to meet with hardworking Americans from all walks of life and get their views on personal data protection. Pinners is a major shopping event. Tens of thousands of transactions are taking place daily. In other words, 35,000+ shoppers are sharing their personal data with total strangers. We sat down with a few Pinners attendees to talk about the event and solicit their perspectives on a variety of privacy topics. We were also joined by a few Anonyome Labs employees to see where they are in their privacy journeys. You will find these interviews in this episode of Privacy Files. One of our members, and a regular on the The Wedding Pro Show, Chelly Ontis, was very recently a presenter (for 2 sessions actually) at Pinners Conference. She also had a booth at the show.We were discussing what makes participating in a show a success. This episode applies to any trade show you do, wedding show or otherwise. We talk a lot about before the show and during the show, and even what our couples should do after the show, but what about how we handle the “after the show” part? It's actually the most important part of the show.We spend all of this time preparing for it, lots of money on the space, the prep, what you bring to it, even maybe travel for it.But do we spend enough time on the after? The very first and most important part of after the show starts the minute you sign up for it.1. Managing your expectations.2. Connections you made at the show. 3. Lessons learnedHere's your hot tip: FOLLOW UP. It's where the ultimate success of your show lies.Follow up with vendor relationships.Follow up with client relationships. Yep even those current and past couples, and of course the future couples.Your current and past couples will be so happy and excited to see you at the show, they're your poster child for what your future clients see, and where your potential word of mouth can come from! They're often there with the next friends of theirs who are getting married, they're your built in cheerleaders!Even just send them a little handwritten note in the mail telling them how great it was to see them.I hope this was super helpful for you, if you're not already in our free Facebook Group, The Wedding Vendors Community, come on over, it's the best!Do you wish you could fill your calendar faster and easier? It's always easy to do on your own, so I've created a free challenge for you, where we'll walk through it together. The challenge starts on September 21, when you sign up right now you'll get an action item that will have you starting with the right foundation!Just go to www.letsbookclients.com/referralschallenge to sign up today!
What if there was an easier and even more fun way to create those Pinterest projects and where you get to do them with your daughter, best friends, or that great group of moms you always have so much fun with? Well, let me introduce you to Pinner's… a conference where inspirations come to life! About a month and a half ago I learned about Pinner's from a friend and I thought the idea was brilliant. I attended the conference in Texas. It was so impressive and so much fun! Roxanne is a business owner who loves to see other businesses succeed, and offer inspiration to women in all walks of life. And wait until you hear the amazing and impactful thoughts, Roxanne shares at the end. I couldn't have found a better way to end this second season if I'd tried. Sew Powerful's first exhibition in front of Pinterest enthusiasts will occur October 8-9th at the Pinners Conference in Indianapolis. Listen as Mary Inchauste, Show Manager, and Kathleen Broadfoot, the willing and able support coordinator, describe how they are preparing for this show. Their enthusiasm is contagious as they explain how a Pinners Conference might be different than a traditional Quilt Show. They elaborate on why they have taken on these roles, what tools Sew Powerful has supplied them, and why you too should consider volunteering to work in a Sew Powerful booth at a show near you.
Roxanne Bennett is the founder and CEO of Pinners Conference, a nationwide expo for creators and creatives to come together for teaching, learning, and connecting. It’s one of my favorite weekends of the year and today we get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to put on an event like that. But what I think you’ll love even more in this episode is the insight and inspiration Roxanne lends to other women, mothers, and entrepreneurs about embracing life’s course corrections, how following your dreams and raising family is possible when it’s the right time, and why personal quiet time is a huge priority in her daily life.
TSBC Alum, Tanya Wheeless is the founder of Happy Grace and author of three workbooks on soulful living. She has leveraged her decades of experience as a CEO, senior executive in the NBA, and community leader to teach women how to live the good life while struggling to balance work and family. In 2016, Tanya saw a need in the market for physical products that busy women could use daily to motivate and center themselves. With that, Happy Grace was born! She took all of her coaching goodness, combined it with her love of paper and created a beautiful line of guided journals, inspiration decks, lip balms and more. When she’s not working, you can find her traveling the globe with her husband and son. On today’s episode, Tanya shares why she never wanted to be an entrepreneur, how she’s weaved both products and services into her business and why she prioritizes and invests in professional development. ON TODAY’S EPISODE: How she became an entrepreneur when she didn’t originally want to be one The catalyst to starting her own business The first service she offered The physical products that Happy Grace offers Why design almost kept her from pursuing physical products What the design process is like for her products Tanya’s coaching services and how they have shifted over time The importance of wellness self-care Happy Grace’s new digital membership program Why it’s important for her to invest in professional development What Tanya finds most challenging about being an entrepreneur How she has updated her brand story Tanya’s advice for someone just getting started in a product-based business What’s next for Happy Grace KEY TAKE-AWAYS: “In my mind, I wanted to show up every day, know what I was supposed to do, know that the paycheck was going to be there, and have a ladder that I could climb because I'm all about climbing ladders.” - Tanya Wheeless “I can't figure out Asana. I can't do Trello. And you know what? We got through. We used Google Docs. We used Gmail. It was all fine.” - Tanya Wheeless “Timeout on the “shoulds” and really get clear about what you actually need, because I think every team's different, and I do not believe there's one way to do this whole entrepreneurship thing.” - Tanya Wheeless “Product's a whole different ballgame because I had to outlend a lot of money before I ever had anything to sell — designers, production, and my coaching funded that.” - Tanya Wheeless “We tend to think that there are two of us. There's work Katie, and then there's mom Katie, and there's not. There's just one Katie.” - Tanya Wheeless “It feels safe for people to hire a leadership coach or an executive coach but what I know most of us really need is more of that wellness self-care.” - Tanya Wheeless “Mental health, self-care, just being kind to ourselves is such an important facet for all of us regardless of whether we're an entrepreneur or not.” - Katie Hunt “It's okay to have your hands in multiple things until you find the thing that really excites you, and that you can make sustainable and fuel yourself financially as well as like in your heart.” - Katie Hunt “If you are a newbie, go to Paper Camp because the women and the men that you are going to meet, some of them will be at your level, but so many are going to be far ahead.” - Tanya Wheeless “There's so much value in being curious and learning about things that may be of interest to you because even finding out, "No, that's not for me," is incredibly valuable.” - Katie Hunt “One of the things that I did not appreciate when I started, Katie, was the importance of me and my brand, and people having a connection with who I was and what I was about.” - Tanya Wheeless “When people were exposed to me, when they got my personality, when they saw my passion what I was doing, they lined up to buy my product.” - Tanya Wheeless “Know that everyone started exactly where you started with an idea, with your computer, and with a hope that someday someone was going to send your card to someone for a meaningful birthday.” - Tanya Wheeless “Be patient with yourself because it's not as easy as everyone else is making it look.” - Tanya Wheeless CONNECT WITH TANYA WHEELESS Website: http://www.happygrace.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MyHappyGrace Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/myhappygrace/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/MyHappyGrace Twitter: https://twitter.com/MyHappyGrace LINKS: The One Thing: https://amzn.to/2NNYj6E Essentialism: https://amzn.to/2wKR9ti Big Magic: https://amzn.to/2wH1ju8 Soul Pancake: http://soulpancake.com/ Funny or Die: https://www.funnyordie.com/ Indigo Faire: https://www.faire.com/ Pinners Conference: https://www.pinnersconference.com/ Magnolia: https://magnolia.com/ Digital Lizard: http://www.digitallizard.com/ PAPER CAMP What if you could sit in a room with 30 other product makers who are doing exactly what you’re doing -- building a business they love! Guest Bio:Roxanne Bennett grew up in a small town in Idaho with a passion for helping others and a dream to one day own her own business. After marrying her husband Kendall Bennett, Roxanne went to Southern Utah University to earn her degree in education. With the help of the faculty and staff at SUU, Roxanne was able to juggle motherhood and a large coursework to finish her bachelor's degree. After graduating, Roxanne taught kindergarten for a year - and enjoyed it - but realized she wanted to follow her entrepreneurial dreams.Roxanne launched Utah Valley Magazine with Kendall and other family members in 2000. In 2004 Roxanne added trade shows and events to her portfolio and has since owned and organized business conferences, home shows, and women shows. Roxanne's most recent large venture was in 2014 when she started Pinners Conference, which has expanded throughout Salt Lake City, Dallas, Atlanta, and Phoenix.Though she does not use her degree to teach in a classroom setting; she believes that if a person can transfer their college education into their daily living—where they are constantly learning—that is her main goal.Roxanne said: “Our whole theme for Pinners Conference is to learn, create, connect; and I love that concept of always getting an education.”Show NotesIntroduction (1:22)How Roxanne became one of the top women entrepreneurs in the state (3:30)Getting away from teaching and going into an MLM (8:51)How she started her first company (11:10)Being able to understand teachings and learning (16:07)How much work actually goes into the Pinners Conference (21:29)What makes the Pinners Conference so unique (27:10)The power of collaborating and helping others (33:17)
