Show Notes Our guest today, Ellie Gould, is a specialist in making the kinds of changes in your life that are both valuable and lasting. In fact, she has created a process to help each of us understand who we truly want to be, how we might get there, and then, most importantly, how we can STAY there. Ellie Gould makes a most compelling argument for the use of “feeling” our way into success in life. In our left-brained “thinking-oriented” world, our feelings are often regarded as an enemy or roadblock to success. Instead, Ellie advocates the Power of Your Emotions in her successful book, Feeling Forwards by Elizabeth Gould with the notable subtitle: how to become the person who has the life YOU want. Today, Ellie will use the lessons and learnings from her book to walk us down the path of Making Changes that Stick. Ellie Gould is a best-selling author, entrepreneur & personal reinvention coach who has worked with Tony Robbins and Randi Zuckerberg. I thought, for today, I would start the new year chatting with my friend Rand Sperry about personal development expert Brendon Burchard's take on what it means to live a life of purpose and to leave a legacy that matters. Brendon suggests something like this: “At the end of our lives we will all ask, in one way or another: Did I live? Did I love? Did I matter?” It seems to me, that if we approach life with those three questions in mind, we will be able to say, “Yes. I have lived a good life.”

Show Notes On our show with Lindsay Davis today we explore the very core of human existence. I think we can best sum it up with the words of psychologist Phil Sutherland, “As human beings, before we are anything else, we are a “burning ball of desire.” Lindsay and I probe the ROLE of burning desire in every single move we make. We ARE desire. We express desire. Without desire we are barely more than automatons. But with desire we are hungry. We are fruitful. And we can find extraordinary pleasure and productivity in life. And why should our lives NOT be pleasurable and productive? Let's find out in my conversation with business, life and performance coach, Lindsay Davis. . There is something wrong with that. - Jane Velez-MitchellWhat's wrong with our society, particularly our healthcare system, is that it's all designed to wait for you to get sick and then treat you and medicate you for those illnesses. True doctors get precious little education in nutrition. - Jane Velez-MitchellMedicine today is reactive and not proactive. You're paid for a sick patient. You're not paid for somebody who's well. And so the system is kind of jigged in a way where it's wrong. - Dung TrinhWe should be in the front end with nutrition, prevention, and lifestyle recommendations as opposed to in the back end prescribing meds. - Dung Trinh There are 20 million people on the verge of starvation in Africa. The starvation crisis is out of control. But we are taking most of our food, or at least a good percentage, and feeding it to 80 billion animals - the most inefficient food system. So I get infuriated when people who are dealing with world hunger or local hunger give out meat to people. - Jane Velez-MitchellAbout the Host:Dung Trinh, MD is the Chief Medical Officer of Irvine Clinical Research, a medical missionary with TongueOut Medical Missions, and holds leadership positions with multiple healthcare organizations in Orange County.
