For the first time I was CORTISOL challenged recording this amazing episode with Carly. My thoughts were scattered and words hard to put together. Carly was a gracious and patient guest. Her journey has be simple and uneventful. Stories like Carly's need to be heard. Let me tell you about Carly. She is a 27 year old phd student in Ontario, Canada who has been living with Addison's Disease since she was 22 years old. With a sudden onset of symptoms over a few months Carly keeping PUSHING ON thinking her failing health was simply the stress of life. Hoping a rest over the holiday break would resolve her overwhelming "fatigue", the feeling of DOOM brewing inside of her and the comments from family and friends that she looked upwell led to a trip to the doctors. Her grave state and doctors who recognized the likely cause of low sodium Carly was quickly diagnosed with Addison's Disease. She took her diagnosis simply as a new chapter in her life and went back to living her dreams. Her energy and outlook is contagious. She has learned valuable lifestyle skills to manage her illness, avoid crisis, have high quality of life and accomplish her goals. I love the feeling of listening to deep house music as the weather gets cooler. There's something about the cozy feeling of the oncoming winter that just puts me in the best mood. OK, well maybe not so much in LA, but it's nice to think that it's fall most places! I made my first deep house podcast last January, and I've been meaning to make my second one ever since. If I had my druthers, I'd be playing deep at a lot more gigs — I absolutely love this sound so much. It's what I listen to when I'm at home or when I'm feeling meditative when stuck in the car for long rides. Some of these songs are mainstream and some are more underground. I picked each one for how it flowed into the overall mix. Just pop this baby on, and let your pain fade away…. ***note: I just realized that there's a four second skip at the very end of "Sunlight" — it's driving me crazy TRUST ME, but I have so much going on this month that I don't have time to re-record the whole podcast just to fix it. My apologies. I know it sucks, but I'm really proud of the rest of the podcast and I don't think it's worth scrapping the whole thing for these four bad seconds.
