Lionel Liminana : On est parti d'une chanson du Velvet Underground qui s'appelle New Age. C'est un morceau qui m'a toujours vachement ému. Cette idée-là, c'était une base de travail. On a commencé par enregistrer la musique et ensuite, on a envoyé cette idée et la musique à des gens qu'on admirait. C'est comme ça qu'on a contacté John Spencer, Bertrand Belin, Anna Jean, Rover, tous les gens qui sont intervenus sur le disque. La surprise, c'est que sur cet album, vous reprenez un titre de Françoise Hardy qui s'appelle « Où va la chance ? », pourquoi cette reprise ? C'est ma chanson préférée de son répertoire depuis toujours. C'est la chanson qui m'a toujours la plus émue. Quand on l'a enregistrée, Françoise Hardy était encore là. À la base, c'était une reprise qu'on avait faite pour un film, ce qui n'a pas fini au cinéma et qu'on trouvait complètement collée à l'histoire que racontait Faded. Mais c'est ma chanson préférée de Françoise Hardy depuis très longtemps. Le groupe The Liminanas, c'est vous, bien sûr. Mais il y a aussi votre épouse Marie à vos côtés, depuis le début. Vous vous connaissiez depuis longtemps. Avec Marie, on est ensemble depuis la nuit des temps, depuis nos 16 ans à peu près. Au lycée, j'ai commencé à monter des groupes et on a commencé à composer des chansons comme cela à l'époque. À un moment donné, on a décidé d'enregistrer pour nous, c'est-à-dire Marie et moi à la maison, pratiquer ce qu'on pourrait appeler de la home music. Bricoler de la musique, sans avoir la moindre ambition de la faire écouter à d'autres gens en dehors de nos familles, nos potes. On a commencé à bricoler des maquettes. Des maquettes que vous aviez postées sur internet, déjà, sur l'équivalent des TikTok ou Instagram. À l'époque, ça s'appelait MySpace. On a mis deux morceaux sur MySpace et on a appelé le groupe The Liminanas parce que ça nous faisait marrer, c'était mon nom de famille. On a signé sur deux labels américains et cela ne s'est jamais arrêté depuis. On a commencé à sortir des disques aux États-Unis, ce qui était un vieux rêve, mais à la base, la seule ambition qu'on avait, c'était de faire des maquettes pour nous. Très vite, vous travaillez avec les plus grandes stars, Iggy Pop, Franz Ferdinand, Etienne Daho notamment. Ce qui est étonnant, c'est qu'on les ait croisés. Iggy Pop, par exemple, je suis fan depuis que j'ai neuf ou dix ans. J'ai grandi avec des posters d'Iggy dans ma chambre. On a eu l'occasion de le rencontrer il y a il y a deux ou trois ans, pour de bon, de passer un peu de temps avec lui. On n'y croyait pas. On était en lévitation qui puisse s'intéresser à ce qu'on fait. Pour nous, c'est vraiment incroyable, très sincèrement. L'objectif, ce n'était pas de coller des noms célèbres à notre travail. The message got lost. The connection with the audience? Faded. And the impact I could've made… missed.   Here are some actionable tips to make sure your book promotion feels natural and adds value rather than coming across as a hard sell during your next speaking engagement: 1. Bring and Showcase a Physical Copy Place a few copies of your book on a side table or podium so they're visible as soon as you walk on stage. This primes the audience to recognize it as part of your message rather than an add-on sales pitch.   2. Negotiate Speaking Fees (or Fee Waivers) in Exchange for Bulk Orders Frame it as a partnership. When you're in discussions with an event organizer, propose a deal like: “If you cover my travel/honorarium, would you be open to purchasing X number of books (e.g., 50 copies) at a special bulk rate?” This way, they're not just paying you for your time but also investing in resources for their audience.   3.
