Unveiling Stories of Courage and Adventure In this week's Team Never Quit episode, Marcus and Melanie sit down with Eric Blehm, an acclaimed author whose storytelling prowess has carved a niche in the realms of adventure, courage, and the human spirit. With a track record that boasts New York Times bestsellers and accolades like the National Outdoor Book Award, Blehm's narrative skills have captivated readers across the globe. A groundbreaking moment in his journalistic career was in 1999 when he became the first journalist to accompany and keep pace with an elite Army Ranger platoon, setting a milestone in American war journalism. His immersion with the Special Operations community led to gripping accounts, including the story of eleven Green Berets who changed the course of history in Taliban-held southern Afghanistan just weeks after 9/11 (The Only Thing Worth Dying For). Fearless and Beyond delves into the inspiring story of Naval Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Adam Brown, showcasing resilience in the face of addiction and devastating injuries. Eric's storytelling prowess extends to Legend, an account of the U.S. Army's 240th Assault Helicopter Company and Green Beret Medal of Honor recipient Staff Sergeant Roy Benavidez. In his latest work, The Darkest White, Blehm returns to his mountain roots to recount the life of snowboarding's original superstar, Craig Kelly. The book explores Kelly's journey from being the sport's first true professional to his tragic end in the powdery backcountry that initially drew him to his calling. Both Fearless and Legend are currently in the process of being adapted for film by major Hollywood producers and studios, attesting to the cinematic appeal of Blehm's storytelling. Join us for an episode filled with riveting tales of courage, adventure, and the human spirit as Eric Blehm takes us behind the scenes of his extraordinary storytelling career. Born into poverty and experiencing tragedy early in life, Roy Benavidez was destined to become a statistic like many of his friends. However, with the instruction and examples of his grandfather and uncle, Roy rose beyond his deficits. He achieved a life-long dream, only to be met with a situation that would have made most people quit. However, once again, he beat the odds and became a part of the US Army's Special Forces. After being deployed to Vietnam, one morning, his name would go down in history after his breakfast was interrupted with a call for help.

Rambo. Seperti apa kisahnya?

Dark Windows Podcast Ep. 162: We are back at it with some more badasses! Pascal Poolaw Sr. was a Native American that answered the call not once, not twice, but three times. He fought in WWII, Korea and finally in Vietnam, he is among the highest decorated Native American soldiers of all time. Roy Benavidez grew up poor on a dirt farm in Texas and had to leave school young but, that didn't stop him from becoming one of the 200 plus men that was awarded the Medal of Honor during Vietnam and possibly the most wounded man we have ever talked about. https://pdcn.co/e/traffic.megaphone.fm/AOR6162450996.mp3?updated=1631242105 darkwindowspod.com your on stop shop for everything to do with the show! Do you remember that time you stubbed your toe and were basically incapacitated for the next 15 minutes? You are going to feel like a gigantic pansy about that after this episode. The amount of damage that Roy Benavidez sustained in Vietnam while still fighting the whole time is truly mind boggling. In one battle alone he was wounded so many times he got multiple Purple Hearts for it. And he kicked ass the whole time! My best guess is that death was just afraid to take him. Enjoy his bonkers ass life!
This is the extraordinary story of Master Sergeant Raul ‘Roy’ Benavidez, the Lazarus soldier, and of his three lives. This outstanding individual never surrendered in the face of adversity, from childhood to military life. Those who know his story mostly remember him for a six hour Calvary, during which, to great personal sacrifice he held at bay an entire battalion of North Vietnamese infantry to save eight wounded comrades. But how did he get there? And what happened afterwards?

Sgt. Benevides has been in the news recently, with support to rename Fort Hood in his honor. We thought this would be a good time to pull this gem from the archives and shine some light on this Texan hero. Roy Benavidez left behind the poverty of his south Texas home town of Cuero for a career in the U.S. Army Special Forces. An incredible act of heroism would make him one of the most decorated American soldiers of the Vietnam War, earning him the Medal of Honor and ensuring his place as one of Texas greatest heroes.
There's the battle and then the fight that takes place after the war. Today's story shows one struggle that soldiers go through and then of a Medal of Honor recipient who somehow kept loading bodies in the helicopter under constant machine gun fire. Listen to both stories to see how they are connected.
In 1965, Special Forces member Roy Benavidez stepped on a landmine in South Vietnam. He was told he would never walk again. Not only did Roy prove his doctors wrong, he would return to Vietnam three years later and go on to save the lives of eight people.
