When Craig Kelly died in 2003, the world of snowboarding was devastated. Twenty years later, New York Times best-selling author Eric Blehm returned to the site of Kelly's death, to uncover the true story of what happened in the avalanche that killed the legendary snowboarder and six backcountry skiers in British Columbia's Selkirk Mountains. Blehm's roots in snowboarding run deep. He started riding during the sport's infancy, and after college became an editor at Transworld SNOWboarding Magazine. Years later, he was in a lift line when a fellow rider saw the “Craig Kelly is my Co-Pilot” sticker on his board, and asked Blehm: “Who is Craig Kelly?” He was floored by the notion that there were snowboarders out there who didn't know who Craig was. And this inspired him to write The Darkest White. Backcountry Magazine | Instagram | Facebook Buy Eric Blehm's The Darkest White Host: Adam Howard Producer + Engineer: Mike Horn

In this episode, we continue our Botching Afghanistan series, where we give friends of the show the ability to give their brief thoughts on the situation currently going on in Afghanistan. This episode features Eric Blehm, the bestselling author of Fearless: The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown. Let's get into it… Episode notes and links: https://www.undaunted.life/podcast/ericblehm2
Over the course of the podcast Carl and Derek (mainly Carl) have challenged some wilderness regulations--especially related to bears. This episode features a discussion with Ranger Rick Sanger that addresses all of these challenges. As a backcountry ranger, Rick Sanger was a key part of the search and rescue efforts for a lost colleague in Eric Blehm's book The Last Season. Does Mr. Sanger have a response to all of the B&B bear canister rhetoric? (Basically, can he shut down Carl's arguments for alternative solutions?) That, and some crazy bear stories, will be discussed in this episode. Upgrade Your Sleep System With Our Latest Sponsor: Zenbivy. Use code 'BLISTERS' for free shipping! GET MORE EPISODES! Well, like I’ve alluded to other places online, the past two weeks have been packed full of so many different, unexpected things. Some good, some hard, some just plain different than what we expected. It feels almost as if we’ve lived through an entire month in just a week’s time. In this week’s podcast episode, we sit down and talk about some of the BIG updates/changes/unexpected things that happened at our house recently, including: getting a long-term placement from foster care for a preemie who was still in the NICU (he got out of the hospital today!!!!) the kids being out of school and everything being cancelled — and how we are letting them plan their routine for the day and how that is working for us Kathrynne’s trip to Suriname where she ended up getting stuck there because the country closed their borders due to COVID-19 (she only ended up having to stay two extra days — and she shares more about that experience on the podcast) If you have some extra time and want a more newsy behind-the-scenes peek into what’s going on at our house right now, don’t miss this episode. In This Episode: [01:25] There have been some major life changes happening lately and we’re going to discuss a few of them in-depth on the podcast today. [03:21] The kids are planning their own routines during this time and it is saving both my life and Jesse’s life. Hear why we are having our kids be in charge of this and how we went about having them set this up. [09:11] I’m reading Don’t Overthink It by Anne Bogel and I share some of my favorite quotes. [12:45] Jesse is reading Fearless by Eric Blehm. [18:36] Our sweet foster baby should be released from the hospital soon and we are so excited. [21:24] Kathrynne joins us to chat about her adventures in Suriname. She shares why she went on this trip, what they did on the trip, and her biggest highlight of the trip. [27:41] Hear all about how the trip ended very differently than any of us could have imagined and Kathrynne felt when they were told that the trip could be extended for 30 days or more. Today's episode is a discussion about the book Fearless: The Adam Brown story. Listen in as Rick and Nancy discuss the life of Adam as written by Eric Blehm. Adam's life represented overcoming, courage, and faith in spite of so many obstacles including his bad decisions early on that led to an addiction that haunted him his entire life. His determination should be an example for us as we go about our days that we too should live FEARLESS!

What is the best book you’ve ever read? Fearless by Eric Blehm. 2. Tomorrow you discover your wealthy uncle shockingly dies at the age of 103; leaving you millions. What would you do with it? I would make sure my kid's college was taken care of and then set up a foundation to give the rest away. 3. Your house is on fire, all living things and people are out. You have the opportunity to run in and grab one item. What would it be? A signed 1976 New York Yankees baseball. 4. You are sitting on a bench overlooking a gorgeous beach. You have the opportunity to have a long conversation with anyone living or dead. Who would it be? Abraham Lincoln or Jesus. Maybe both. That would be a great conversation. 5. What is the best advice you’ve ever received? Marriage is not 50/50. It's giving 100% of yourself + not expecting anything in return. 6. Looking back, what advice would you give yourself at age 20? You're going to get kicked down and punched in the face. There are going to be critics and crazies. Focus on the 95%. 7. It’s been said that all great people can have their lives summed up in one sentence. How do you want yours to read? Well done my good and faithful servant. *** If you enjoyed today’s episode: Subscribe (automatically get new episodes), rate & review (help spread the word!) this podcast wherever you get your podcasts. Today we’re asking the question “What are you afraid of?” I recently finished a must read book authored by Eric Blehm titled Fearless, which chronicles the undaunted courage and ultimate sacrifice of Navy Seal Team Six Operator Adam Brown. Adam was fearless in his commitment to protect the freedoms and people of our great nation and gave his life in doing so. The true source of his strength was found in his relationship with Jesus Christ. The bible says in Psalm 118:6, “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” This is the attitude that so many men and woman who have served our country had in battle when they paid the ultimate price and gave their life in order to preserve the incredible freedoms the United States of America enjoys. And for those warriors, we give thanks on this Memorial Day weekend. Yet there is a healthy fear that precedes being fearless. It’s a fear each of us need if we're going to be successful in fulfilling God’s mission for our life. Proverbs 1:7 tells us it is in the fear of the Lord that brings wisdom. But what does that fear look like? In today’s podcast we’ll dive into this all important truth. ABOUT JESUS | SHARE YOUR STORY | PRAYER REQUEST | FOR PASTORS
