Joining us today are Deputy Pilot Mike Sill and Deputy Pilot Johnny Reyes from the Fresno County Sheriff's Office Air Support Unit.Sill is this year's recipient of the prestigious Robert L. Cormier Memorial Award, recognizing outstanding achievement in the advancement of aircraft in public service. A charter member of the Fresno County Air Support Unit, Sill recently retired after 25 years of flying—a career defined by dedication, skill, and humility. He often describes himself as “blessed, lucky, and fortunate,” but his success is a direct result of years of hard work and flying challenging, high-risk missions across some of California's most unforgiving terrain—from just 337 feet at the valley floor to 14,000-foot peaks in the Sierra Nevada. In this conversation, Sill and Reyes share incredible insights from their careers, discussing the power of mentorship, the value of developing personnel from within, the importance of experienced pilots in shaping a new aviation unit, and the critical role of an exceptional maintenance program. They also recount some remarkable high-altitude, life-saving rescues that truly highlight the skill and heart behind their unit's work.Hangar Z Podcast subscriber numbers have been climbing rapidly and we appreciate your support. Rob was living in a contractor tent city in Beaumont after Hurricane Ike. One weekend, after heavy drinking and partying with neighbors who had moonshine and cocaine, he headed to his truck. As he walked, he experienced a strange sneeze-like sensation, lost consciousness, and fell.He awoke in a brilliant white light, feeling pure love and peace as all negativity lifted from him. Rob saw his mother, first wife, and others. When he asked, "Is this how it really feels?" they said, "Yes, it's wonderful." They told him he had to return but assured him they'd be watching over him.Rob then regained consciousness, feeling the oppressive weight of this world. The experience left him convinced that this life is ruled by evil, but he now fears no death, knowing something far better awaits. Despite doubts from others, Rob is certain what he felt was real—pure goodness and the presence of God.Todays recommended video.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GsWknK5r-8

Rediff !

We live in a fast-paced world, and most of us are always trying to do more in less time. It is often immensely difficult for leaders to slow down amidst the pressures and demands of work and life and this can often lead to burn out and leaders not finishing well. How can we as leaders find the value of slowing down, and how can leaders practically implement rest into their lives? Join us today on the Lasting Change podcast, where we talk with Robert L. Gallagher, a professor of mission and intercultural studies. Together we talk about the difficulty people, particularly leaders, face in slowing down amidst the pressures and demands of modern life. We explore the need for time for solitude, prayer and silence, following the example of Jesus.
