In this episode of "Sara Gonzales Unfiltered," Sara dives into the Democrats' growing panic as internal polls show them losing. She highlights how the L.A. Times, for the first time in four election cycles, has refrained from endorsing a candidate, even with Kamala Harris' deep ties to California. Sara warns of potential chaos between Election Day and a Trump inauguration, citing figures like James Carville, who urged Democrats to prepare for civil war, and Congressman Jamie Raskin, who has openly suggested refusing to certify a Trump victory. As the Left escalates its rhetoric, Kamala Harris compares Trump to Hitler while Biden suggests Trump should be "politically locked up," alluding to the ongoing legal battles Trump faces. Sara stresses the importance of preparation for viewers, urging them to secure homes, stock up on supplies, and be ready for unrest. The episode also explores how Democrats are working with U.K. leaders to "kill" Elon Musk's Twitter (now X), with the U.K.'s Centre for Countering Digital Hate coordinating attacks on the platform. Sara discusses how free speech is under fire globally, with figures like Hillary Clinton and John Kerry advocating for stricter controls. Sara highlights the media's role in pushing false narratives, pointing to the Atlantic's debunked story about Trump disparaging slain soldier Vanessa Guillén. She also touches on persistent falsehoods like the “very fine people” hoax, which Biden and Harris still repeat. Sara wraps up with Chris Cuomo's critique of Kamala Harris, questioning the media's sudden glorification of her despite her lack of accomplishments. Throughout the episode, Sara urges viewers to stay informed, prepared, and vigilant as the political landscape grows more chaotic. Sara is joined by Jason Buttrill, chief writer and researcher for Glenn Beck, and Justin T. Haskins, who co-authored "Propaganda Wars: How the Global Elite Control What You See, Think, and Feel" with Glenn Beck. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In light of recent developments in the Vanessa Guillén case, we're revisiting our Season 2 episode. Host Rod Rodriguez talks with Natalie Khawam, the lawyer for Vanessa Guillén's family, and Stars and Stripes reporter Rose Thayer, who had been covering the case since its start. We discover how Guillén's family first suspected something was wrong the very day she disappeared and how their first push for help the following day included an interaction with her killer. We also discuss how the more questions the family asked about the whereabouts of their daughter, the more roadblocks to answering those questions the Army put down. ______ This episode is brought to you by Homes For Our Troops, a nonprofit helping build and donate homes to injured post 9/11 veterans. Vanessa Guillén was a 20-year-old US Army soldier who went missing on the Ft. Hood Base in Texas.
Vanessa Guillen was enlisted in the United Sates Military. She was brutally kidnapped and murdered by a coworker at FortHood military base. Find out what happened now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Vanessa_Guillén https://www.facebook.com/findvanessaguillen/ https://abcnews.go.com/US/timeline-missing-fort-hood-soldier-vanessa-guillen/story?id=71597714
Vanessa Guillén oli haaveillut armeijan palvelukseen astumisesta pikkutytöstä lähtien. Lukion jälkeen Vanessa päätyikin työskentelemään Fort Hoodin tukikohtaan Texasiin. Eräänä päivänä hän katosi tukikohdasta. Hänen katoamisestaan ei saatu mitään vihjeitä. Mitä Vanessalle olikaan tapahtunut?
Happy Friday + Episode #13 to you, Ghoulfriends!!! We're really excited about this episode. Grace's case gets a little dark so we are re-emphasizing our content warning at the beginning of our episodes. However, Grace was eager to be able to advocate and tell the story and mis-handled case of U.S. Army Solider, Vanessa Guillén. Marisa's Mystery dives into the first Cult that we cover on the podcast: The Twelve Tribes! If they're not working on their farm, or in their Yellow Deli's, they just might be starting forest fires. Tune in + let us know what you think by rating and reviewing us! In this episode, Amanda and Jenna talk about the allegations of Chris Noth being a rapist (damn it, Mr. Big, you were only supposed to be a fictional a-hole), and Apple's AirTags that stalkers everywhere are celebrating for making their hobby easier (fanfuckingtastic). After that, we break down the details of the Vanessa Guillén murder from 2020. After telling her mom and a few close friends that she was begin sexually harassed on base at Fort Hood—including the fact that a superior walked in on her while she was showering—she went missing on April 22. Turns out, one or more people in the Army did not want her to report what was going on. It spurred the #IamVanessaGuillen hashtag and subsequent legislation of the same name, included in a bill signed into law by President Biden this year. Sidenote: Vanessa is one of 39 soldiers who died or went missing from Fort Hood in 2020 alone and base officials have been strangely quiet about their inability to keep servicemembers safe. Remember, there are advocates, nonprofits and shelters designed to help keep survivors safe. You don't have to stay silent.
Again and again, Vanessa Guillén told her fellow soldiers that she was “uncomfortable” with the platoon leader, and described him as “nasty”, “disgusting” and“a creep”.Two soldiers warned the unit leadership about what was happening, but these officers failed to initiate an investigation. Neither did they take any action against the harasser, and they allowed him to mistreat Vanessa in public, holding her up as an example of misconduct.CreditsDirector: Jerónimo AndreuVoice: Cecilia SuárezMusic: Camilo LaraAudio design: Yago MendívilOriginal idea: Elena GonzálezProduction: Elena González / Gonzalo Ruiz de VillegasScript: Jerónimo AndreuResearch and interviews: Damià Bonmatí / Juan CooperDigital: Malu Tabares / Pablo G. Vanessa Guillén spoke about the violence in Killenn with her mother. She didn't like either the habits of her fellow soldiers or the leisure activities in Killeen. The soldier-related crime that had the biggest impact in 2020, not counting the deaths of Vanessa Guillén and Gregory Morales, was that of soldier Brandon Rosecrans. Twenty-seven-year-old Brandon was shot four times and killed on May 18 in Harker Heights, 10 minutes away from Killeen.
A twenty-one-year-old Cajun girl and Army Private, Paige Fontenot Briles joined the "Fort Hood Fallen" under suspicious circumstances on Christmas Eve 2016. Returning guest, Jennifer Norris of Military Justice For All, helps to uncover how Paige's death fits into a larger pattern of young soldiers' non-combat deaths at Fort Hood , while acknowledging the frequent mislabeling of homicides to suicides by Army CID. Paige's family, the Fontenots, deserve to have their daughter's case re-opened and re-investigated along with the families of LaVena Johnson, Kamisha Block, Tina Priest, and Vanessa Guillén. In sharing Paige's story, the pubic can start to become aware of these larger issues on our military bases and can help petition for both transparency and reform.
Vanessa Guillén´s family doesn't believe Aaron Robinson was the only one guilty, and Gloria Guillén still thinks that the sergeant about whom her daughter spoke was behind all this.22% of the soldiers at Fort Hood are Hispanic, a percentage disproportionate to their presence in the United States as a whole, which is 16%. Almost 70 years on, Vanessa's disappearance rekindles the debate about the treatment of Latin soldiers.
False clues start piling up in Vanessa Guillén's case. First, authorities search for her cellphone. Then, following the directions of a sniffer dog, they look for her near a bridge on the Leon River.Almost a year before Vanessa disappeared, in August 2019, another soldier, Gregory Morales, was declared a deserter. But his mother, Kim Wedel, never accepted that he disappeared voluntarily.
Vanessa Guillén has disappeared. Her mother, Gloria, asks that Fort Hood's gates be locked so no one can leave the base. She also tells high command what her daughter confided about a harassing superior: the man in the showers. The Army questions two new witnesses who saw specialist Aaron Robinson leave the armory where Vanessa was last seen. He was carrying something large and heavy that got their attention.
Vanessa Guillén arrives in 2019 at Fort Hood, Texas. Months later, her mother realizes Vanessa is hiding a secret and demands that she reveal it to her. We go inside the largest military base in the world to search for answers.

Today I get to chat (and laugh) with Dr. Melissa Cioffi, PT, the owner of New Quest Physical Therapy, a mobile physical therapy practice specializing in pelvic health Mel Cioffi is a doctor of physical therapy who “frees active folx with vaginas from endless kegels and garbage exercises so they can get their damn lives back." She's participating in the O+ Festival offering a class, "Beyond Kegels," where you'll learn the basics of what the pelvic floor is, does, and how to condition yours beyond kegels alone. You will learn how breathwork can be incorporated with your deep abdominals and pelvic floor. This will be for AFAB participants (I am not trained in pelvic floor conditioning related to AMAB people…yet!) Join her Sunday, October 10th from 1:15-2:15 at the Yoga House. In the second half of today's show (around minute 54) I get to speak with several members of the Performance sin Miedo, a community event bringing awareness to ending violence against women. Joining the conversation are co-organizers, Perla Ayora and Mariel Fiori; choir director, Christine Gevert; cellist, Carolyn Leschuza; and community singers Maritza Del Razo and Sue Weed.Violence against women and girls is one of the most serious, widespread, deep-rooted and tolerated human rights violations in the world. Women and girls suffer various types of violence in all areas of their lives and under multiple manifestations: at home, in public spaces, at school, at work, in cyberspace, in the community, in politics, in institutions, among others. According to UN Women Mexico, globally, 1 in 3 women has suffered physical and / or sexual violence throughout their lives, and in some countries this proportion increases to 7 out of 10. Another unpleasant record: 14 of the 25 countries with the highest number of femicides are in Latin America and the Caribbean. In Mexico, 43.9% of women have experienced violence from their current or last partner. And in the United States we are not left behind in statistics concerning the violent patriarchy. According to the National Coalition against Domestic Violence, every minute almost 20 people are physically abused by their partner; in a year this is equivalent to more than 10 million people.Because of these type of numbers, and because of specific cases that we know here in the Hudson Valley and beyond, it is that a score of Spanish-speaking women, led by choral director Christine Gevert, with the support of two radio program hosts, Perla Ayora of No me digas, and Mariel Fiori, of La Voz con Mariel Fiori, on Radio Kingston, unite our voices for a Performance without fear, free and open to the public. All people who support the global cause, against femicide and against violence against women, are invited to bring their banners and join in on Sunday, October 10 at 4 p.m. at the Parking Lot of the Kingston Court House, 285 Wall Street. The event will be livestreamed and English interpretation will be provided. What will happen at the Performance without Fear / Performance sin miedo? Everyone is invited to join in singing the Spanish language feminist anthem that went around the world in 2019 and that began in Chile thanks to the Las Tesis Collective, A rapist on your way, with strong and powerful lyrics: Patriarchy is a our judge, that imprisons us at birth, and our punishment is the violence you don't see. After this song, several people will have the opportunity to share their experience with gender violence, from the organizers and participants, to women who work in organizations that provide resources to help survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. Finally, we will sing another feminist hymn, The song without fear by Vivir Quintana, with the arrangement of Paz Court. When she gave her permission for this performance in Kingston,Chilean composer and singer Paz Court, who arranged the Song without fear, which was sung by El Palomar choir for the first time, said: “Thank you for joining your voices and helping to spread this message around the world”.We have changed some of the names that are mentioned in the song for cases that the group wanted to highlight, such as Vanessa Guillén, Nicole “Nikki” Addimando, and Marielle Franco. In the revised lyrics, we also recognize the thousands of immigrant women who are waiting to reach the United States and are now in overcrowded shelters in Mexico.Christine Gevert, founder and choral artistic director of Crescendo, in charge of preparing the participating Spanish-speaking women, said “I feel very honored to be able to be a part and help in this initiative. I realize that I have been privileged in my life thus far and I live in a safe ‘bubble' here in the Northwest corner of CT. I frequently experienced sexual harassment on the streets of Chile growing up, but I never thought much about it as it was part of our reality and we got used to dealing with it. I did not realize how much domestic violence, especially against women, is still a problem in this country, and in the countries of Latin America and in our neighbor Mexico!”For more information or to participate, email lavoz@radiokingston.orgWe also listened to the songs, "New Moon" by Breanna Barbara who is playing the O+ Festival Friday at 8:30pm at Keegan Ale's, and "Right Now is All We Know" by Shana Falana who's performing at 7:45pm Friday evening at the County Lot. They're considered American heroes, yet that distinction comes at a price. In this episode we grapple with the hurt and pride many Latinos feel towards our armed forces.
In this rebroadcast episode from last summer, Maria and Julio are joined by Pam Campos-Palma, Director of Peace & Security at the Working Families Party, and Gina Peréz, cultural anthropologist and professor at Oberlin College to dig deep into the case of Vanessa Guillén, and the issues of sexual assault, structural racism and a culture of impunity in the U.S. military. They discuss the military's history of recruitment in Latino communities, and how Latina servicewomen have led the fight for justice by reclaiming their stories. ITT Staff Picks:In a piece for the Texas Tribune, Reese Oxner breaks down new state and federal legislation against military sexual assault over a year after Vanessa Guillén's murder.“Nothing really can bring her back at all but as long as we know how to honor her name and how to make this change, I feel like that would be some closure for us,” Vanessa Guillén's sister told ABC News in this piece on Guillén's legacy and the investigation into her murder. An investigation by a team of reporters at the Associated Press revealed a deep-rooted culture of racism and discrimination in the U.S. military.
