Come see us live in London June 22nd: https://bigbellycomedy.club/event/lions-led-by-donkeys-podcast-live-big-fat-festival-southbank/ A conflict breaks out between a newly independent Mexico and a newly back-to-having-kings France. It culminates in a small series of armed incursions and blockades in 1838-39. Did it start because of an aggrieved French baker? Did Napoleon's armies advance the science of military optics because their commander wanted to look at feet? In this episode (the first one where Nate has researched, written, and hosted), we get to the bottom of the semi-apocryphal Pastry War. Sources: Atwater, James D.; Ruiz, Ramon Eduardo. When Santa Anna suspended the Mexican Constitution and declared martial law, Texians rebelled and Santa Anna invaded Texas. The resulting flight of settlers eastward, to escape Santa Anna's relentless pursuit, was one of desperation and life-threatening conditions.

Texans remember two big dates in the state's formative history — March 6, when the Alamo fell, and April 21, when Sam Houston's army defeated Santa Anna's army at San Jacinto. Not receiving nearly so much interest are the six weeks between these two events in 1836 — when Houston's small army retreated and thousands of civilians evacuated their homes to escape the Mexican armies. This episode, popularly known as the “Runaway Scrape,” has escaped the attentions of many Texas historians and is even forgotten by many Texans. This is something historian Stephen L. Santa Anna following the battle. Others, like the authors, insist that Crockett died much as he lived — fighting. Joe has always claimed for things -- good things -- that were NOT of his making. Last night, Biden spoke about the Hamas-Israel ceasefire we were told was agreed to. Biden took total credit for it! Several times in his speech, he made clear that HE was the person who wrote the provisions. His doing that shocked many. However, overnight, the whole thing fell apart! Details of that are included in today's show. Also, more bad news for Californians as the Santa Anna winds are back with 100 mph winds that will undoubtedly increase the power of those fires still burning. Four days before the inauguration, Trump is giving details of how his first 100 days are going to reveal massive legislation and executive orders to quickly repeal many of Biden's horrible orders to get the U.S. back on track. Get. the details of it all on today's show!

Today, we break down the latest revelations of corrupt actions taken by several California state and Los Angeles laws regarding actions taken regarding fire prevention. You'll hear from Governor Gavin Newsome that no personal actions and/or inactions happened on his watch. He stated, "They were local matters." The death toll in L.A. continues to rise while firefighters struggle to bring those fires under control. The existing fires are expected to escalate drastically because the forecasted Santa Anna winds are expected to escalate over the next few days. We analyze the expectations for the Trump Cabinet nominees as they appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee to be interviewed for those positions. Pete Hegseth, nominated for the Secretary of Defense position, was the first to appear before the committee. We will continue to give you updates on these nominees committee hearings.

Several counties in Southern California are in a state of emergency due to several, fast-moving fires that have been carried and enhanced by Santa Anna winds.Tuesday January 7 is when three major fires sparked in forestry areas in Southern California and with the help of hurricane force winds, collectively burned 22,000 acres in just 24 hours. The first fire, the Pacific Palisades, began at 10:30 a.m. on that day near 1190 North Piedra Morada (near Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu, Calif.), according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Winds reaching at least 40+ mph, quickly spread the original 10-acre fire to 200 acres in roughly 12 minutes. The Pacific Palisades fire has burned 17,230+ acres with 0 percent containment, where over 1,000 building have been destroyed by fire.Meanwhile, the Eaton fire started in Altadena on the late evening of January 7. It has taken the lives of five people and injured several others. Over 750 firefighters have been working tirelessly over the Eaton fire and yet 10,600 acres have burned and there is 0 percent containment as of January 9 at 9:00 AM PST. The Hurst fire also began that late night, burning 855 acres in just a few hours; it is 10 percent contained as of January 9 at 9:00 AM PST.Also on that Tuesday, due to the high winds over 50 mph, flight restrictions over the affected burn areas prevented fire fighters from dropping flame retardants over the area and the media from getting a full picture of the fires.

Si me desean enviar comentariostdeely7352@hotmail.com

Forts part 2 Mexican – Anglo Relations Welcome to the Hidden History of Texas. This is Episode 47 – Mexican Anglo Relations -  I'm your host and guide Hank Wilson. And as always, brought to you by Ashby Navis and Tennyson Media Publishers, producers of  a comprehensive catalog of  audiobooks and high-quality games, productivity, and mental health apps. Visit AshbyNavis.com for more information. Relations between the Anglo settlers and Mexicans or Tejanos (Tejanos are those of Mexican or Spanish decent who were born in Texas, either when it was a province of Mexico or as a Republic) have almost always been strained. The Anglo settlers who immigrated into Texas were primarily from the South and as such they carried with them all of their innate prejudices. While some of the earliest settlers did learn to adapt to a Spanish way of life and to live in peace with their Mexican neighbors, many of the newcomers had no such desire. One area of conflict concerned itself with the issue of slavery.  Mexico began to restrict slavery during the 1820s and finally completely outlawed it in 1829. However, the Mexican government exempted Texas from this law in order to appease Anglos. Initially that didn't seem like very important because it is estimated that in 1825 there were only about 400 slaves in Texas. However, by 1835 and the real beginning of the battle for Texas independence it is believed that there were more than 5,000 slaves in the region.   In 1836 after Texas won at the Battle of San Jacinto, and claimed to be an independent republic there was still trouble. Because there was no formal treaty solidifying Texas status as independent. Mexico refused to recognize Texas' independence and considered it a rebellious territory. The Mexican government believed that Santa Anna had no legal authority to sign the Treaties of Velasco while a prisoner, and that the Mexican government had no obligation to honor the agreements. Now  because of that, there was the very real fear that Mexico would invade and try to take Texas back. Then when in 1837, Mexico abolished slavery, this time without any exceptions, the Anglo residents of Texas began to fear that their slaves would start to side with Mexico in any type of dispute. And since many of the Anglos already distrusted the Mexican people in the state as the Texas Republic took shape, officials placed more and more obstacles before the non-Anglo population. For example, In the world of politics,  Anglo leaders excluded Tejanos from almost every type of meaningful political participation. For example, Juan Seguín, one of the most influential Tejano political leaders, an Alamo defender, and who played an important role in the development of the Republic, and who fought for and stood side by side with those opposing Mexico and Santa Ana, was forced to flee to Mexico after a white mob chased him out of San Antonio.  When it came to education, well Texas wasn't big on public schools as a way of insuring equality. In fact, from 1836 to 1900 private individuals, such as the Catholic Church, Protestant groups, and public officials all regarded schools as critical to preserving the social order. They saw them not only as ways to increase literacy, but also as vehicles to perpetuate existing class, sex, and ethnic roles. After Texas became a state, Mexican children often had no access to public schools. As the decades passed, that began to slowly change and  by the 1880s the children did increasingly have access to rural schools. By the 1890s Mexican working-class children in urban areas were admitted to city schools. In both cases access was limited to segregated classes in the elementary grades. No secondary or postsecondary facilities were available to them. Only the children of wealthy families attended colleges and universities. The decision to segregate elementary schools in Texas was due to racial prejudice, residential location,

New Video - Tampering of Dallas Police transcripts John is always finding information that no one else has found because he reads. Earlene Roberts saw Lee leave the rooming house in a dark brown shirt. zipping up his dark blue jacket. Lee wore a dark blue jacket when he appeared in the morning at Wesley Frazier's house on 11/22/63. Taxi driver William Whaley also described Lee as also wearing a dark blue jacket. Lee left the rooming house at approximately 1:03 PM. The man who shot Tippet at 1:06 PM was wearing a light colored Eisenhower type windbreaker jacket. Please read John's analysis and description of the Tippet murder on his website, HarveyandLee.net Oswald was wearing a long sleeved brown shirt (no blue jacket) at his arrest in the Texas Theatre. John encourages you to READ the Dallas Police Department dictatape transcriptions from 11/22/63. The FBI edited the DPD transcriptions, changing the time stamps around the Tippit murder. Three Ambulances sent to 10th & Patton - Dudley M. Hughes ambulance, Baylor University & the VA. By 1964, Ely was aware of the many Oswald impersonations happening in multiple places. Oswald shows a Texas State Driver's License to Fred Moore at the Jiffy Mart at 10am. How can Oswald be at the Jiffy Mart when he's pushing boxes around at the TSBD? Oswald seen getting on bus in Dealey Plaza while also spotted getting into a Rambler station wagon. John Hart Ely, 26 year old & the youngest member to work on the Warren Commission. Ely's job for the Warren Commission was to research the history of Marguerite & Lee Harvey Oswald. Seeing obvious discrepancies, Ely started to question Oswald's duplicity in his investigation. Ely talked to the men who were stationed with Oswald in Santa Anna & El Toro. Talked to Sgt. Donald Goodwin at El Toro. Friendly with Oswald, going to the movies together. In 1975, Ely wrote a summary of his deep & complex feelings about the Warren Commission. Mr. Ely, in his own words, recognized there was multiple Oswalds. In April '64 Jenner wrote to Rankin about Ely's records, Ely's research was going to have to be edited. John has wondered for 20 years why Capt. Fritz didn't ask Lee any questions about the Tippit murder. A blue jacket was placed on Tippit's body after he was murdered before the ambulance crew arrived. Witness Domingo Benavides tried to contact DPD dispatch but didn't know how to use the police mic. Tippit's body was taken the Methodist Hospital by the Dudley Hughes ambulance by Jasper Clayton Butler. Although Butler was on site by 1:10 PM, Tippit was declared dead until 1:15 PM? How? Capt. Fritz was aware of the 2nd wallet found at the Tippit crime scene, helping in the cover up. On 11/22/63 the Dallas Police Dept. sent the FBI 225 items but returned 455 items on 11/26/63. John spent 2 weeks at the National Archives searching for DP initials on items in Oswald's inventory. The government offices protect each other, enabling them to destroy & hide assassination evidence. What would have happened if the public found out two wallets at the Tippit crime scene in 1963? Why haven't the seasoned researchers questioned the two different jackets & shirts worn by Oswald. What happened to Oswald's blue jacket? It was missing at the time of his arrest. John first started to seriously research the JFK assassination after attending an event in 1991. Madeline Brown's attended the JFK event, bringing her son, who is the spitting image of LBJ. Part One: In 1836 Mexico had won its independence from Spain and was being ruled by a dictator named Santa Anna, who had a large army and used it mercilessly to hold on to his power. His biggest threat was an area we now call Texas, where both Americans and Mexican Tejanos who sought freedom were gathering and offering the promise of land to those who would fight to create a new republic called Texas. Men like Jim Bowie, William Travis, and Davey Crockett believed that the fight was worth their lives- and March of 1836 found them defending an old mission called The Alamo. This is their story and the story of the defenders, who came from all over the country- up until the day of the major attack. In Part Two we cover the fall of the Alamo, the victory at San Jacinto, and the ghosts that still haunt the Alamo and the town of San Antonio, Learn more about your ad choices. In 1836, at the Battle of San Jacinto in Texas, a pair a 6 pounder cannons called "The Twin Sisters" provided the opening shots that won the Battle and directly led to the surrender of the Mexican forces under General Santa Anna, giving Texas their freedom to form a republic. According to most historians, the cannons were seen stacked with other field pieces at a railroad depot in Galveston at the end of the war, and a handful of young confederate soldiers, not wanting to see these historic cannons to get into federal hands, took them apart and buried the brass cannons minus their wooden carriages. despite years of searching, these treasured remnants of Texas past have remained lost. This is the story of the "Twin Sisters" and the search for them. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
