While preaching today, some skeptics raised deep philosophical questions about how God can know everything (including the future), yet humans still have free will. Of course, it's not possible to provide a convincing argument about the nature of God to someone who rejects the very idea of God. But I offered them this insight on how to deal with their doubts.Join me for today's Daily Word & Prayer to hear what I told them.Scripture Used in Today's MessageJob 38:1-7If you've not read my book, Takin' it to Their Turf. request a copy on my website, www.CampusAmerica.com.You'll be inspired, encouraged, and learn plenty about evangelism and spiritual warfare through the 70+ stories I share of my campus evangelism expereinces. We send a copy to anyone who donates to our ministry, but if you can't do so, simply request a copy by sending us an email. Sign-up for my free 20-day devotional, The Word Before Work Foundations, at http://TWBWFoundations.com--Series: 7 Biblical Principles for Resolving Conflict at WorkDevotional: 2 of 7If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. (Romans 12:18)I'm ashamed to admit that I've been waiting eight years for someone to make the first move in pursuing peace with me. From my perspective, this person is the “more guilty” party in our conflict (whatever that means). But today's passage has convicted me to take the first step toward peace. This verse is also the source of the second of seven biblical principles I'm sharing for resolving conflict at work….Principle #2: Make the First Move to resolve any conflict. This principle is directly connected to the first one we explored last week to “Praise the Prince of Peace for the grace and mercy he has shown you.” If Jesus waited for the guilty party to make the first move in resolving conflict, you and I would be eternally dead in our sin. But Christ did move first. He pursued peace with us while we rejected him. And so, to follow Jesus fully includes following his example to blaze trails of peace with others. Which is why Paul said, “as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone” (see Romans 12:18). Hebrews 12:14 says the same thing: “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy.” The call here is proactive rather than reactive in the image of Christ. What conflict is nagging at your attention most this Monday morning? Is it a team member you're frustrated with for missing a deadline? Is it a boss whose stubborn opinion on a policy infuriates you? Is it a client who you've heard has been speaking poorly about you behind your back? Whatever it is, resolve to make the first move to pursue peace. To make this more practical, allow me to suggest you take a couple of minutes to complete these four actions.First, create a note in a place that will be easily accessible throughout this series. It could be a note on your phone, desktop, journal—wherever.Second, write down the name of the person you've been thinking of during this devotional. The one you have the most unresolved conflict with. Can't think of anyone? Think about who you don't want to see on Zoom, in the breakroom, or at the grocery store today. That's the name!Third, jot down Romans 12:18 underneath their name to remind yourself of the biblical call for you to make the first move in pursuing peace.Fourth, pray for the name on your list and ask the Lord for wisdom as you pursue peace with them. Next week, we'll get even more practical about what God's Word says about how to do exactly that!

My mission is to LOVE. The way He wants me to love - By Pastor Kobus Massyn Sermon scripture: John 21:15-17 Supporting scriptures: skills and values Psalm 1:3, Eph 3:17,Acts17:28, John 15:1- 8, Agape love John 15:17, Matt 22:37-39, 1Joh4:16, John 13:35,Rom 5:5, Gal 5:22, 2Kor 9:7 Sermon scripture: John 21:15-17 (Amp) - 15So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these [others do--with total commitment and devotion]?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend].” Jesus said to him, “Feed My lambs.” 16Again He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with total commitment and devotion]?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend].” Jesus said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.” 17He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with a deep, personal affection for Me, as for a close friend]?” Peter was grieved that He asked him the third time, “Do you [really] love Me [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend]?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know everything; You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend].” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep. Skills and Values Psalm 1:3 (Amp) - 3And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season; Its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity]. Ephesians 3:17 (Amp) - 17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through your faith. And may you, having been [deeply] rooted and [securely] grounded in love, Acts17:28 (Amp) - 28For in Him we live and move and exist [that is, in Him we actually have our being], as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.' John 15:1- 8 (Amp) - 1“I am the true Vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that continues to bear fruit, He [repeatedly] prunes, so that it will bear more fruit [even richer and finer fruit]. 3You are already clean because of the word which I have given you [the teachings which I have discussed with you]. 4Remain in Me, and I [will remain] in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself without remaining in the vine, neither can you [bear fruit, producing evidence of your faith] unless you remain in Me. 5I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken off] branch, and withers and dies; and they gather such branches and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you. 8My Father is glorified and honored by this, when you bear much fruit, and prove yourselves to be My [true] disciples. Agape love John 15:17 (Amp) - 17This [is what] I command you: that you love and unselfishly seek the best for one another. Matthew 22:37-39 (Amp) - 37And Jesus replied to him, “‘you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38this is the first and greatest commandment. 39the second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].' 1 John 4:16 (Amp) - 16We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him. John 13:35 (Amp) - 35By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.” Romans 5:5 (Amp) - 5Such hope [in God's promises] never disappoints us, because God's love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Galatians 5:22-23 (Amp) - 22But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. 2 Corinthians 9:7 (Amp) - 7Let each one give [thoughtfully and with purpose] just as he has decided in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver [and delights in the one whose heart is in his gift].

Sermons – New Life in Christ Church | Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania
1 Samuel 20 (NIV) David and Jonathan 20Then David fled from Naioth at Ramah and went to Jonathan and asked, What have I done? What is my crime? How have I wrongedyour father, that he is trying to kill me? 2Never! Jonathan replied. You are not going to die! Look, my father doesnt do anything, great or small, without letting me know. Why would he hide this from me? It isnt so! 3But David took an oathand said, Your father knows very well that I have found favor in your eyes, and he has said to himself, Jonathan must not know this or he will be grieved. Yet as surely as theLordlives and as you live, there is only a step between me and death. 4Jonathan said to David, Whatever you want me to do, Ill do for you. 5So David said, Look, tomorrow is the New Moon feast, and I am supposed to dine with the king; but let me go and hidein the field until the evening of the day after tomorrow.6If your father misses me at all, tell him, David earnestly asked my permissionto hurry to Bethlehem, his hometown, because an annualsacrifice is being made there for his whole clan.7If he says, Very well, then your servant is safe. But if he loses his temper, you can be sure that he is determinedto harm me.8As for you, show kindness to your servant, for you have brought him into a covenantwith you before theLord. If I am guilty, then killme yourself! Why hand me over to your father? 9Never! Jonathan said. If I had the least inkling that my father was determined to harm you, wouldnt I tell you? 10David asked, Who will tell me if your father answers you harshly? 11Come, Jonathan said, lets go out into the field. So they went there together. 12Then Jonathan said to David, I swear by theLord, the God of Israel, that I will surely soundout my father by this time the day after tomorrow! If he is favorably disposed toward you, will I not send you word and let you know?13But if my father intends to harm you, may theLorddeal with Jonathan, be it ever so severely,if I do not let you know and send you away in peace. May theLordbe withyou as he has been with my father.14But show me unfailing kindnesslike theLords kindness as long as I live, so that I may not be killed,15and do not ever cut off your kindness from my familynot even when theLordhas cut off every one of Davids enemies from the face of the earth. 16So Jonathanmade a covenantwith the house of David, saying, May theLordcall Davids enemies to account.17And Jonathan had David reaffirm his oathout of love for him, because he loved him as he loved himself. 18Then Jonathan said to David, Tomorrow is the New Moon feast. You will be missed, because your seat will be empty.19The day after tomorrow, toward evening, go to the place where you hidwhen this trouble began, and wait by the stone Ezel.20I will shoot three arrowsto the side of it, as though I were shooting at a target.21Then I will send a boy and say, Go, find the arrows. If I say to him, Look, the arrows are on this side of you; bring them here, then come, because, as surely as theLordlives, you are safe; there is no danger.22But if I say to the boy, Look, the arrows are beyondyou, then you must go, because theLordhas sent you away.23And about the matter you and I discussedremember, theLordis witnessbetween you and me forever. 24So David hid in the field, and when the New Moon feastcame, the king sat down to eat.25He sat in his customary place by the wall, opposite Jonathan, and Abner sat next to Saul, but Davids place was empty.26Saul said nothing that day, for he thought, Something must have happened to David to make him ceremonially uncleansurely he is unclean.27But the next day, the second day of the month, Davids place was empty again. Then Saul said to his son Jonathan, Why hasnt the son of Jesse come to the meal, either yesterday or today? 28Jonathan answered, David earnestly asked me for permissionto go to Bethlehem.29He said, Let me go, because our family is observing a sacrificein the town and my brother has ordered me to be there. If I have found favor in your eyes, let me get away to see my brothers. That is why he has not come to the kings table. 30Sauls anger flared up at Jonathan and he said to him, You son of a perverse and rebellious woman! Dont I know that you have sided with the son of Jesse to your own shame and to the shame of the mother who bore you?31As long as the son of Jesse lives on this earth, neither you nor your kingdomwill be established. Now send someone to bring him to me, for he must die! 32Whyshould he be put to death? Whathas he done? Jonathan asked his father.33But Saul hurled his spear at him to kill him. Then Jonathan knew that his father intendedto kill David. 34Jonathan got up from the table in fierce anger; on that second day of the feast he did not eat, because he was grieved at his fathers shameful treatment of David. 35In the morning Jonathan went out to the field for his meeting with David. He had a small boy with him,36and he said to the boy, Run and find the arrows I shoot. As the boy ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.37When the boy came to the place where Jonathans arrow had fallen, Jonathan called out after him, Isnt the arrow beyondyou?38Then he shouted, Hurry! Go quickly! Dont stop! The boy picked up the arrow and returned to his master.39(The boy knew nothing about all this; only Jonathan and David knew.)40Then Jonathan gave his weapons to the boy and said, Go, carry them back to town. 41After the boy had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone and bowed down before Jonathan three times, with his face to the ground. Then they kissed each other and wept togetherbut David wept the most. 42Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, for we have sworn friendshipwith each other in the name of theLord, saying, TheLordis witnessbetween you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants forever. Then David left, and Jonathan went back to the town.
Fifth Sunday of Easter The Collect: Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. First Lesson: Acts 8:26-40 26Then an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get up and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This is a wilderness road.) 27So he got up and went. Now there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of the Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, in charge of her entire treasury. He had come to Jerusalem to worship 28and was returning home; seated in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah.29Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over to this chariot and join it.” 30So Philip ran up to it and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah. He asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31He replied, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to get in and sit beside him. 32Now the passage of the scripture that he was reading was this: “Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter, and like a lamb silent before its shearer, so he does not open his mouth. 33In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken away from the earth.” 34The eunuch asked Philip, “About whom, may I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?” 35Then Philip began to speak, and starting with this scripture, he proclaimed to him the good news about Jesus. 36As they were going along the road, they came to some water; and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water! What is to prevent me from being baptized?” 38He commanded the chariot to stop, and both of them, Philip and the eunuch, went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. 39When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. 40But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he was passing through the region, he proclaimed the good news to all the towns until he came to Caesarea. Psalm: Psalm 22:24-30 24 My praise is of him in the great assembly; * I will perform my vows in the presence of those who worship him. 25 The poor shall eat and be satisfied, and those who seek the Lord shall praise him: * “May your heart live for ever!” 26 All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, * and all the families of the nations shall bow before him. 27 For kingship belongs to the Lord; * he rules over the nations. 28 To him alone all who sleep in the earth bow down in worship; * all who go down to the dust fall before him. 29 My soul shall live for him; my descendants shall serve him; * they shall be known as the Lord'S for ever. 30 They shall come and make known to a people yet unborn * the saving deeds that he has done. Epistle: 1 John 4:7-21 7Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9God's love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world. 15God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God. 16So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. 17Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgment, because as he is, so are we in this world.18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. 19We love because he first loved us. 20Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. 21The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. Gospel: John 15:1-8 1”I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower. 2He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. 3You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. 4Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. 6Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.

Sunday Evening Daily Anglican Prayer - Sunday Evening 28th April 2024 Readings: Psalm 98; 1 John 4. 1-8; Led by Felicity Scott, a Liturgical Assistant at St John the Baptist Anglican Church Bulimba, QLD, Australia. The full prayer transcript is available by going to this episode on the Podcast website. https://dailyprayeranglicanprayerbookforaustralia.podbean.com Welcome to Sunday Evening prayer from the Anglican ‘A prayer book for Australia'. We proclaim the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ: GOD in his infinite mercy, forgives all sins, and through our baptism in the name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, we are given a rebirth into new life, free from the burden of all sin. ALLELUIA With faithfulness we respond to the good news: We acknowledge Christ as our saviour and accept with gratitude, that we are forgiven for all wrong doings, past and present. To honour the gift of forgiveness, we release our burden of guilt and rise up to live in the glory of God forever more. Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Blessed be God forever. Let us Pray. 1 Grace, mercy and peace, from God the Father, and Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Timothy 1.2 Glory to God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit: as in the beginning, so now, and for ever. Amen. 2 The Opening Canticle, The Praise of God's Servants Come now, praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord: you that stand by night in the house of the Lord. Lift up your hands in the holy place and praise the Lord: May the Lord bless you from Zion, the Lord who made heaven and earth. Psalm 134 3 The Opening Prayer The day is now past and the night is at hand. Let us pray with one heart and mind. Silence may be kept. Father of lights, receive the prayer and praise we offer you as our evening sacrifice; make us a light for all the world, delivered by your goodness from all the works of darkness; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen. 4 The Psalms as appointed. A pause is observed after each. Psalm 5 At the end of the (last) pause there may follow Lord of life, by the power of your resurrection, deliver us from all selfishness and bring us to the fullness of your joy; for you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen. 6 One or two Readings from the Bible as appointed. 1st Reading – No reading 2nd Reading 1“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. The readings may be followed by a period of silence for reflection, a hymn or May your word live in us and bear much fruit to your glory. A short homily Our Lord so often uses images that are so directly understood by his listeners this time he uses that of the vine and the vinedresser. Again most of the people in his time would have either had a vine or two in the backyard or perhaps worked for someone who had a lot more. I don't have a green thumb but those who do tell me that when you're pruning you've got to be careful as you prune to make sure that it's a clean cut and that in fact the growth that happens after a pruning in fact is a direct survival attempt on behalf of the plant to just live, it feels like it's an attack on it and then all the extra nutrients are sent into that part of the plant to make it grow. The Lord uses this image and the people listening to him would have understood this very well, that if for instance the pruning doesn't get done properly, disease can set in and the plant can develop a fungus and then possibly die or at least part of it but when Jesus talks about the pruning that goes on for those who bear fruit well the image itself hurts. When we think about ourselves being pruned by God, being pruned by the heavenly father by his word by the manifold ways in which he prunes our thoughts, the way we think, maybe we enjoy the idea of pruning but the thought that I'm going to be hurt in order to bear more fruit doesn't particularly appeal to me and I don't know about you that's in fact what's necessary in order for us to keep on growing in our discipleship in Christ. That's what Jesus Christ in fact says about his teaching on the cross that we must carry the cross every day and in particularly during these 50 days of Easter season we are looking at the mystery of the cross that has led to the resurrection but we see it repeated in our lives, time and time again how our Lord also talks about the possibility of not bearing fruit. What happens to such a branch, the one who does not remain in him? They dry up and then they are cut off and thrown into the fire not something any of us really wants to consider but we should ask ourselves the question what does it mean therefore to remain in Jesus Christ? Well it's the things we already know, to engage in prayer, to reflect on his word, to allow his word to speak to us, not just to wash over our minds but to in fact percolate into our hearts so that it can convict us of truth and falsehood that is there within us. When the word finds truth inside of us then, it brings peace and consolation when it finds falsehood it makes us uncomfortable, we live in a culture that is very much about wearing fake masks, very much about keeping up a good appearance, but in fact with God this means nothing because he sees right through it all. So as we listen to these familiar words of Christ we remember that we in order to be great disciples, we must be close to him and remain united with him through Christ. Amen 7 The Canticle, The Song of Mary (Magnificat) My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord: my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, Who has looked with favour on his lowly servant: from this day all generations will call me blessed; The Almighty has done great things for me: and holy is his name. God has mercy on those who fear him: from generation to generation. The Lord has shown strength with his arm: and scattered the proud in their conceit, Casting down the mighty from their thrones: and lifting up the lowly. God has filled the hungry with good things: and sent the rich away empty. He has come to the aid of his servant Israel: to remember the promise of mercy, The promise made to our forebears: to Abraham and his children for ever. Luke 1.47–55 8 The Apostles' Creed may be said. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. 9 The Prayers Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. 10 The Lord's Prayer and the Collect of the Day Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen. 10 The Collect of the Day Fifth Sunday of Easter O God, form the minds of your faithful people, that we may love what you command and desire what you promise, so that, amid the many changes of this world, our hearts may there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. Prayer of the Week Fifth Sunday of Easter Saving God, who called your Church to witness that you were in Christ reconciling the world to yourself: help us so to proclaim the good news of your love, that all who hear it may be reconciled to you; through him who died for us and rose again and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. 11 Intercessions and Thanksgivings may be made according to local custom and need. Almighty God, by your Son Jesus Christ you gave many excellent gifts to your apostles and commanded them to feed your flock. Bless all Archbishops and bishops in The Anglican Church. So fill them with your truth, and clothe them with holiness, that as pastors of your Church they may diligently preach your word, and rightly teach your people, to the glory of your name, and the benefit of your Church. God of grace: hear our prayer. God of wisdom, grant we pray that the words we have heard today make in us a desire to serve the people in bringing the good news of Christ to all who have yet to hear it, so that they may bring forth in us the fruit of good works to honour and praise your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. God of grace: hear our prayer. Saviour God, we give you thanks for restoring health to your servants who are experiencing ill health this day. Our investigative journey continues into the 'Where' takes us to the pages of Luke's Gospel. This passage paints a vivid picture of the place where the greatest story ever told began: Bethlehem. As I think about Bethlehem's history I am reminded that much of God's greatest work is done in unexpected ways, by unexpected people, in unexpected places. It is often the places that we don't expect to find God that we do. 1Pursue love, andearnestly desire thespiritual gifts, especially that you mayprophesy.2Forone who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.3On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.4The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.5Now I want you all to speak in tongues, buteven more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up. 6Now, brothers,[a]if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you somerevelation or knowledge or prophecy orteaching?7If even lifeless instruments, such as the flute or the harp, do not give distinct notes, how will anyone know what is played?8Andif the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?9So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will bespeaking into the air.10There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning,11but if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will bea foreigner to the speaker and the speaker a foreigner to me.12So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church. 13Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret.14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful.15What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also;I will sing praise with my spirit, but I willsing with my mind also.16Otherwise, if you give thanks with your spirit, how can anyone in the position of an outsider[b]sayAmen toyour thanksgiving when he does not know what you are saying?17For you may be giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not being built up.18I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.19Nevertheless, in church I would rather speak five words with my mind in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue. 20Brothers,do not be children in your thinking.Be infants in evil, but in your thinking bemature.21In the Law it is written,By people of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.22Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is a sign[c]not for unbelievers but for believers.23If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds?24But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all,25the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so,falling on his face, he will worship God anddeclare that God is really among you.

And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.1 John 3:22And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.John 15:7If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.John 14:13-14And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.Colossians 1:9 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,Matthew 6:9-13 Pray, then, in this way: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.Romans 1:10 always in my prayers making request, if perhaps now at last by the will of God I may succeed in coming to you.John 9:31 We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him.Romans 8:27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.Ephesians 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,1 Thessalonians 5:15–18:See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.Jeremiah 29:11-13For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/622a9079e8fb640012cb94f3. HOLY GOSPEL: John 14:1-14 [Jesus said to the disciples:] 1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. 4And you know the way to the place where I am going.” 5Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” 8Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” 9Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father'? 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if you do not, then believe me because of the works themselves. 12Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. 13I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.”

God sent Jesus to redeem and restore what has been broken. There's a distinct difference between condemnation and conviction. We tend to default toward fear rather than faith.Concern moves you to action.Worry leads to inaction.Worry is “Stewing without Doing.”What you worry about the most, is where you trust God the least.Faith is trust in God.Matthew 6:33 is a promise, not a suggestion.God has got this. Why do you worry? It may happen, and it may not be as bad... It may happen and God will carry you through it.1 Peter 5:6-7If you constantly live in the future, you are missing the moment now.Worry primarily is a thought.Anxiety is primarily a feeling.Worry is more specific.Anxiety is more general.Worry happens mostly in your head.Anxiety mostly happens in your heart and body.Because I am trying to control things.Philippians 4:4-9Don't worry.PrayTell God what you need.Be Thankful.Experience God's peace.God desires a relationship with you, not a transaction.Fix your thoughts on God.Start thinking about what you're thinking about. This sermon is a part of our sermon series, Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done.ABOUT THIS SERIESThy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done is all about taking an honest look at the Christmas story to experience all the heartwarming and heartbreaking pieces of the story. This is the seventh sermon of the sermon series, Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done. 1Then David fled from Naioth in Ramah and came and said before Jonathan, “What have I done? What is my guilt? And what is my sin before your father, that he seeks my life?” 2And he said to him, “Far from it! You shall not die. Behold, my father does nothing either great or small without disclosing it to me. And why should my father hide this from me? It is not so.” 3But David vowed again, saying, “Your father knows well that I have found favor in your eyes, and he thinks, ‘Do not let Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved.' But truly, as the LORD lives and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.” 4Then Jonathan said to David, “Whatever you say, I will do for you.” 5David said to Jonathan, “Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit at table with the king. But let me go, that I may hide myself in the field till the third day at evening. 6If your father misses me at all, then say, ‘David earnestly asked leave of me to run to Bethlehem his city, for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the clan.' 7If he says, ‘Good!' it will be well with your servant, but if he is angry, then know that harm is determined by him. 8Therefore deal kindly with your servant, for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the LORD with you. But if there is guilt in me, kill me yourself, for why should you bring me to your father?” 9And Jonathan said, “Far be it from you! If I knew that it was determined by my father that harm should come to you, would I not tell you?” 10Then David said to Jonathan, “Who will tell me if your father answers you roughly?” 11And Jonathan said to David, “Come, let us go out into the field.” So they both went out into the field. 12And Jonathan said to David, “The LORD, the God of Israel, be witness!a When I have sounded out my father, about this time tomorrow, or the third day, behold, if he is well disposed toward David, shall I not then send and disclose it to you? 13But should it please my father to do you harm, the LORD do so to Jonathan and more also if I do not disclose it to you and send you away, that you may go in safety. May the LORD be with you, as he has been with my father. 14If I am still alive, show me the steadfast love of the LORD, that I may not die; 15and do not cut offb your steadfast love from my house forever, when the LORD cuts off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth.” 16And Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, “Mayc the LORD take vengeance on David's enemies.” 17And Jonathan made David swear again by his love for him, for he loved him as he loved his own soul. 18Then Jonathan said to him, “Tomorrow is the new moon, and you will be missed, because your seat will be empty.19On the third day go down quickly to the place where you hid yourself when the matter was in hand, and remain beside the stone heap.d 20And I will shoot three arrows to the side of it, as though I shot at a mark. 21And behold, I will send the boy, saying, ‘Go, find the arrows.' If I say to the boy, ‘Look, the arrows are on this side of you, take them,' then you are to come, for, as the LORD lives, it is safe for you and there is no danger. 22But if I say to the youth, ‘Look, the arrows are beyond you,' then go, for the LORD has sent you away. 23And as for the matter of which you and I have spoken, behold, the LORD is between you and me forever.” 24So David hid himself in the field. And when the new moon came, the king sat down to eat food. 25The king sat on his seat, as at other times, on the seat by the wall. Jonathan sat opposite,e and Abner sat by Saul's side, but David's place was empty. 26Yet Saul did not say anything that day, for he thought, “Something has happened to him. He is not clean; surely he is not clean.” 27But on the second day, the day after the new moon, David's place was empty. And Saul said to Jonathan his son, “Why has not the son of Jesse come to the meal, either yesterday or today?” 28Jonathan answered Saul, “David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem. 29He said, ‘Let me go, for our clan holds a sacrifice in the city, and my brother has commanded me to be there. So now, if I have found favor in your eyes, let me get away and see my brothers.' For this reason he has not come to the king's table.” 30Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said to him, “You son of a perverse, rebellious woman, do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own shame, and to the shame of your mother's nakedness?31For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, neither you nor your kingdom shall be established. Therefore send and bring him to me, for he shall surely die.” 32Then Jonathan answered Saul his father, “Why should he be put to death? What has he done?” 33But Saul hurled his spear at him to strike him. So Jonathan knew that his father was determined to put David to death. 34And Jonathan rose from the table in fierce anger and ate no food the second day of the month, for he was grieved for David, because his father had disgraced him. 35In the morning Jonathan went out into the field to the appointment with David, and with him a little boy. 36And he said to his boy, “Run and find the arrows that I shoot.” As the boy ran, he shot an arrow beyond him. 37And when the boy came to the place of the arrow that Jonathan had shot, Jonathan called after the boy and said, “Is not the arrow beyond you?” 38And Jonathan called after the boy, “Hurry! Be quick! Do not stay!” So Jonathan's boy gathered up the arrows and came to his master. 39But the boy knew nothing. Only Jonathan and David knew the matter. 40And Jonathan gave his weapons to his boy and said to him, “Go and carry them to the city.” 41And as soon as the boy had gone, David rose from beside the stone heapf and fell on his face to the ground and bowed three times. And they kissed one another and wept with one another, David weeping the most. 42Then Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, because we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, ‘The LORD shall be between me and you, and between my offspring and your offspring, forever.'” And he rose and departed, and Jonathan went into the city.g
God Extends His Kind And Gracious Offer Of Forgiveness, Do We Accept It? Genesis 4:6 - 7 6Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry. 3The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” 4And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.' ” 5And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, 6and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will. 7If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.” 8And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “ ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.' ” 9And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, 10for it is written, “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,' 11and “ ‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.' ” 12And Jesus answered him, “It is said, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.' ” 13And when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from him until an opportune time. 14And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country.

In this episode of the Dr. B Show Podcast, Dr. B talks to real estate consultant and entrepreneur Royce Blackwell. Royce talks about the skills that have served him well from selling cars to real estate and eventually in starting his own business. He also talks about the current trends in the real estate industry and gives tips for people who may want to buy and/or sell property in the near future. Spoiler alert: it's currently a seller's market, but it may not be for very long. HIGHLIGHTSYou always need to planAlways listen to your clients Leave a legacy through real estateHas the residential real estate market peaked already? Why buying real estate can be hard for some peopleQUOTESRoyce: "What helped me most recently is being more organized. Because when you're unorganized, even with your schedule and just in general when you're starting to get clients, get a CRM so you can organize your business and let the CRM do its job." Royce: "It's a good time to buy if you're ready to buy. It is a seller's market, people are paying a little bit over asking. But if the interest rate is lower, then their buying power is more." Royce: "It's a case-by-case basis. But I think more so the lack of information and just the market being saturated and it being a seller's market. Not planning far enough in advance to start saving money. If you want to buy a house and now it's very competitive, if you can put down more of a significant downpayment, you look like a better candidate." What does it mean to be "In Christ?" How do you know if you are "In Christ?" Pastor Jamie Nunnally answers these questions in this message, which is part 3 of “Identity: Who Do You Think You Are?” Your identity is who you think you are. Identity theft leads to an identity crisis, and the body of Christ is suffering from an identity crisis because we are letting people other than God tell us who we are. Your identity determines your activity, and your activity determines your destiny. During this series, we look at 4 different “fingerprints” that determine our identity:1. I am a child of God.2. I am unconditionally loved.3. I am in Christ.4. I have purpose. Fingerprint #3: You are in Christ.Colossians 3:3-4 “For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”Christianity is not a self-help program, but a self-death program. We don't add Jesus to our life, we get absorbed into His life. We grow spiritually, not by improving ourselves, but removing ourselves.Galatians 2:20 It is our faith that places us in Christ. When we are hidden in Him, we no longer exist apart from Him. How can I tell if I am in Christ? You know you are in Christ if you're new.2 Corinthians 5:17Galatians 6:15 Three things that happen when you are in Christ:1. You are forgiven in Christ.Ephesians 1:7If you are in Christ, you're forgiven, whether you feel like it or not. Romans 8:1 How often do you think about a bill you've already paid? You don't. That's how often God thinks about your forgiven sin: He doesn't. 2. You are accepted in Christ.Righteousness is the state of being in acceptable condition to God.Three types of righteousness (and only one works):Righteousness of the world – be goodRighteousness of religion – be betterRighteousness of God – be in Christ. Romans 3:22 Philippians 3:6-9 Receiving the acceptance of God doesn't mean we stop trying, it just means that we stop trying out. 3. You are victorious in Christ.1 Corinthians 15:57“But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.”Whatever holds your attention has your affection.Romans 8:37 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Your victory comes from God's power, not your will-power. Victory is found in surrender, not in striving. 4. You have eternal life in Christ.1 John 5:11-12 “And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God's Son does not have life.”One of the biggest lies that is told is that good people go to Heaven. No, people in Christ go where He is. Are you in Christ?
Thanks for tuning in to this week's episode of the Strong Girl Strong God podcast. On this episode, I'm talking about trusting God. Today we begin a 5 part series where we dive deep into the 10 Ways to authentically connect with your audience that we introduced last week in Episode 8. In part 1 of the 5 part series, we look at the first 2 ways to authentically connect with your audience.Let Your Personality Shine Let people connect with the real you, your mission, and your values. An example of this is podcast guest Brianne Davis of the Secret Life podcast, Episode 3 and guest on Tiphany's Love & Life podcast, episode 59Show your human side- hobbies, volunteer projects, family time, illness (like when we got covid)have a sense of humorDon't over-edit and take out all your imperfections. Imperfections are endearing. An example of this is Tiphany's podcast guest, Erin Ramsey of You're Such a Catch Podcast, episode 34. Erin snorts when she laughs and we all love it! Authenticity means not pretending to be someone you are notIf you are not the expert, don't pretend to be one. An example is our guest, Amanda Chen of the 100 Masked Men Project, episode 7If you are an expert, show humilityDon't position yourself as the hero that can save your listener's problemsOur mics for this episode:David- Shure SM57 with A81WS windscreenTiphany- Shure SM7BJoin our FREE Facebook community: Mastering the Podcaster Mindset Support GroupGet the Guide “The Biggest Mistake Podcaster Make and How to Avoid It”: DM us on IG: @podcastermindset
