Life Lessons from Jeremiah Pt. 8: I Am the Clay By Louie Marsh, 6-21-2026     1) Following Jesus can get STRANGE.   "1The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2"Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will let you hear my words."  (Jeremiah 18:1, ESV)   "2As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, "Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way, 3the voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight,' ""…"6Now John was clothed with camel's hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts and wild honey." (Mark 1:2-3,6, ESV)   "1Now the Lord said to Abram, "Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. 2And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. (Genesis 12:1–2, ESV)   2) Spiritual truth often PARALLELS real life.   3So I went down to the potter's house, and there he was working at his wheel. 4And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter's hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do.  (Jeremiah 18:3-4, ESV)   "24He put another parable before them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field," (Matthew 13:24, ESV)   3) If Jesus is Lord I allow Him FREE REIGN in my life.    5Then the word of the Lord came to me: 6"O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.  (Jeremiah 18:5-6, ESV)   "13You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am." (John 13:13, ESV)   4) God is the Sovereign of the Universe, in the end His will is DONE.    7If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, 8and if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I intended to do to it. 9And if at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build and plant it, 10and if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will relent of the good that I had intended to do to it.  (Jeremiah 18:7-10, ESV)     5) In light of this – I must REPENT.   11Now, therefore, say to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: 'Thus says the Lord, Behold, I am shaping disaster against you and devising a plan against you. Return, every one from his evil way, and amend your ways and your deeds.'  (Jeremiah 18:11, ESV)     6) The unbelieving world WON'T DO this.    12"But they say, 'That is in vain! We will follow our own plans, and will every one act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.'" (Jeremiah 18:12, ESV)

What does real faith actually look like? In this message from Luke 8, we explore Jesus' Parable of the Sower and the difference between simply admiring Jesus and truly following Him. Trials, distractions, comfort, success, and culture all reveal what we really believe. This sermon challenges us to ask a difficult but necessary question: Is Jesus enough?• Real faith is revealed when life gets difficult• Following Jesus means choosing Him over comfort, approval, and pleasure• True discipleship is more than belief alone. It produces obedience and perseveranceKey Scriptures:Luke 8:1-21Matthew 23:37Psalm 91:41 Peter 1:6-7If this message challenged or encouraged you, take time this week to honestly ask yourself where Jesus stands in your life. Life Lessons From Jeremiah Pt. 2: Be On Mission By Louie Marsh, 5-10-2026   IF I'M GOING TO SERVE GOD…   1) It helps to know WHAT I'm supposed to do!   See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant." Jeremiah 1:10 (ESV)   The three pairs of verbs-pull up/tear down, take apart/demolish, build/plant-are all-involving. In the way of faith we do not escape because it is too much for us; we plunge into it because we are commanded and equipped. It is not our feelings that determine our level of participation in life, nor our experience that qualifies us for what we will do and be; it is what God decides about us.   · To uproot and tear down   "13He answered, "Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up." (Matthew 15:13, ESV)   "7If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, 8and if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I intended to do to it." (Jeremiah 18:7–8, ESV)   • Sin-corrupted structures must be pulled up at the roots (Jeremiah 18:7-8; Matthew 15:13).   • "Tear down" pictures dismantling false worship, injustice, and empty confidence.   · To destroy and overthrow   "52he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate;" (Luke 1:52, ESV)   • Intensified verbs stress total demolition of prideful kingdoms.   • Nothing withstands the Lord's decree—not Jerusalem's walls, Babylon's empire, nor modern idols (Jeremiah 25:29; Luke 1:52).   • Destruction here is mercy: it halts evil before it devours further   · To build and plant   "6I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up, and not tear them down; I will plant them, and not pluck them up." (Jeremiah 24:6, ESV)   • Judgment clears ground for restoration.   • "Build" promises stability; "plant" promises fruitfulness.   • God never leaves ruins unattended; His ultimate aim is a people and a place flourishing under His reign. · This is Jeremiah's MISSION STATEMENT.   Other Biblical Mission Statements:   John the Baptist;    A voice cries: "In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Isaiah 40:3 (ESV)    Jesus:   "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."  And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. And he began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing." Luke 4:18-21 (ESV)   Paul:   But rise and stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you, delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles— to whom I am sending you to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.' Acts 26:16-18 (ESV)   For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. 1 Corinthians 1:17 (ESV)   My Mission Statement:   To go anywhere, at anytime, to teach anyone God's Word, and to Empower Disciples.   2) To fulfill God's call I need lots of REASSURANCE!   · 1st Assurance – God is WATCHING over him.   And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Jeremiah, what do you see?" And I said, "I see an almond branch." Then the LORD said to me, "You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it." Jeremiah 1:11-12 (ESV)   The almond tree is one of the earliest trees to bloom in Palestine. Before it puts forth leaves, it puts forth blossoms, white and snowy.   The vision is accented with a word play. The word almond and the word watching are nearly identical in Hebrew. "What do you see, Jeremiah?" I see a shaped ("almond"). "Good eyes! I'm sticking with you. I am shoqed ("watching") my word to make every word I give you come true. I am watching my word like a shepherd watching his flock.   ·  2nd Assurance – BELIEVE that God limits evil in this world.   The word of the LORD came to me a second time, saying, "What do you see?" And I said, "I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north." Then the LORD said to me, "Out of the north disaster shall be let loose upon all the inhabitants of the land. For behold, I am calling all the tribes of the kingdoms of the north, declares the LORD, and they shall come, and every one shall set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, against all its walls all around and against all the cities of Judah. And I will declare my judgments against them, for all their evil in forsaking me. They have made offerings to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands. Jeremiah 1:13-16 (ESV)   "I believe in getting into hot water, it keeps you clean." - G. K. Chesterton   The subject of the vision is negative (in contrast to the almond vision) but its message is positive, for its effect is to contain evil. The boiling pot is a container of evil, and it poured out by someone – it is limited and controlled.   The boiling pot reduces evil to a location and a use. We cannot afford to be naive about evil-it must be faced. But we cannot be intimidated by it either. It will be used by God to bring good.   "7For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way." (2 Thessalonians 2:7, ESV)   The first vision convinced Jeremiah that the word of God bursts with wonders and that its wonders are not illusions. The second vision convinced Jeremiah that the world is very dangerous but that the danger is not catastrophic.   3) I must be SHAPED by God's Word & Vision, nothing else!   Jeremiah was shaped by the visions, not by the fashions of the day, not by his feelings about himself. We know that he often felt terrible and that he was treated terribly. He often felt weak; he often was near despair. In fact, he was always strong. His emotions often failed him; his faith always held fast. His strength was not achieved by growing calluses over his highly sensitive spirit.   "18And I, behold, I make you this day a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land. 19They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the Lord, to deliver you."" (Jeremiah 1:18–19, ESV)   Educated by the almond rod, his inward responsiveness to the personal, whether God or human, deepened and developed. Educated by the boiling pot, his outward capacity to deal with dehumanizing evil and to resist depersonalizing intimidation became invincible: "impregnable as a castle, immovable as a steel post, solid as a concrete block wall." Not bad for someone who started out as "only a boy."   4) Now it's time to get to work – be PROFESSIONAL.   But you, dress yourself for work; arise, and say to them everything that I command you… Jeremiah 1:17a (ESV)   "6Now John was clothed with camel's hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts and wild honey." (Mark 1:6, ESV)   Pictures – map of E.Timor, story of when you first taught this.   THE UNLIVED LIFE – taken from The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. (Gates of Fire) Resistance is the most toxic force on the planet. It is the root of more unhappiness than poverty, or disease. To yield to Resistance deforms our spirit. It stunts us and makes us less than we are and were born to be. If you believe in God (and I do) you must declare Resistance evil, for it prevents us from achieving the life God intended when He endowed each of us with our own unique genius.   Genius is a Latin word; the Romans used it to denote an inner spirit, holy and inviolable, which watches over us, guiding us to our calling. A writer writes with his genius; an artist paints with hers; everyone who creates operates from this sacramental center. It is our soul's seat, the vessel that holds our being-in-potential, our star's beacon and Polaris.   WHAT IS THIS RESISTANCE?   · I won't let my FLESH stop me.   For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin. For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. Romans 7:14-20 (ESV)   5) To overcome I must RELY on God's strength.   … Do not be dismayed by them, lest I dismay you before them. And I, behold, I make you this day a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land. They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the LORD, to deliver you." Jeremiah 1:17b-19 (ESV)   · God's strength shows itself in my WEAKNESSES.   Jeremiah 1:17b-19; 2 Corinthians 4:7–10, 12:7-10   "17... Do not be dismayed by them, lest I dismay you before them. 18And I, behold, I make you this day a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land. 19They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the Lord, to deliver you."" (Jeremiah 1:17b–19, ESV)   "7But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our bodies." (2 Corinthians 4:7–10, ESV)   "7So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Corinthians 12:7–10, ESV)

Fifth Sunday of Easter The Collect: Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. First Lesson: Acts 7:55-60 55But filled with the Holy Spirit, he gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56"Look," he said, "I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!" 57But they covered their ears, and with a loud shout all rushed together against him. 58Then they dragged him out of the city and began to stone him; and the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59While they were stoning Stephen, he prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." 60Then he knelt down and cried out in a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he died. Psalm: Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16 1 In you, O Lord, have I taken refuge;   let me never be put to shame; *        deliver me in your righteousness. 2 Incline your ear to me; *        make haste to deliver me. 3 Be my strong rock, a castle to keep me safe,   for you are my crag and my stronghold; *        for the sake of your Name, lead me and guide me. 4 Take me out of the net that they have secretly set for me, *        for you are my tower of strength. 5 Into your hands I commend my spirit, *        for you have redeemed me,        O Lord, O God of truth. 15 My times are in your hand; *        rescue me from the hand of my enemies,        and from those who persecute me. 16 Make your face to shine upon your servant, *        and in your loving-kindness save me." Second Lesson: 1 Peter 2:2-10 2Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation— 3if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. 4Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God's sight, and 5like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6For it stands in scripture: "See, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame." 7To you then who believe, he is precious; but for those who do not believe, "The stone that the builders rejected has become the very head of the corner," 8and "A stone that makes them stumble, and a rock that makes them fall." They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Gospel: John 14:1-14 1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. 4And you know the way to the place where I am going." 5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?" 6Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him."8Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied."9Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works.11Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if you do not, then believe me because of the works themselves. 12Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. 13I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.

This is the Easter message from the ONE Series called Not There. In this message, Pastor Todd shares the power and meaning of the resurrection—how everything changed because the tomb is empty. Jesus isn't there. And because of that, everything about our lives can be different too.Walking through Luke 24, he reminds us that the resurrection isn't just a moment in history—it's the reason our faith is alive today. Without it, the cross would have just been another death. But because Jesus rose, sin was not just covered… it was completely taken away.Pastor Todd breaks it down in a real and honest way—we've all had things in our lives: mistakes, sin, regret, stuff we try to hide or cover up. But Jesus didn't come to cover it… He came to take it away completely. That's the beauty of Easter. What used to define you isn't there anymore. This message is also a clear invitation. Not just to believe in Jesus, but to truly follow Him—to be changed, to be made new, to be born again.Because one day, we'll all stand before God. And the question won't be how good we were… it will be whether our name is written in the book of life.Scripture: Luke 24:1–7If this message spoke to you, share it with someone who needs to hear it.And remember this simple truth:He's not there… and your sin doesn't have to be either.

Joshua BoydKey Theme: The Bible Is a Book of ChoicesAs we continue our Walk Through the Bible series, we're looking at an overarching theme found from Genesis to Revelation:The power of “if.”Our anchor verse remains:1 Corinthians 10:11–12These things happened as examples for us… If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The stories of Scripture aren't just children's lessons. They are real accounts—often messy and intense—written so we can learn, stand firm, and avoid falling.“If” — The Language of CovenantThe word “if” appears nearly 1,600 times in Scripture. That tells us something: God works through choice. From the beginning: Adam and EveGenesis 2:17If you eat of it, you will die.Dominion was given—but with boundaries.CainGenesis 4:7If you do well, will you not be accepted? … If you do not, sin lies at the door.Cain had a chance to change direction. He didn't.JesusRevelation 3:20If anyone hears my voice and opens the door…Jesus knocks. He does not force.Fear vs. LoveA powerful truth:Fear forcesLove leadsFaith followsGod gives us free will because love requires choice. Without choice, it's not love—it's control. The Danger of Repeated Wrong “Ifs”One bad choice rarely destroys someone overnight. But repeated wrong “ifs”:Harden the heartDull convictionLead to deceptionEphesians 4:18They have closed their minds and hardened their hearts.Hardness develops through repeated wrong decisions. That's why:Hebrews 3:13Encourage one another daily… so none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.Generational Impact of One Right “If”Nine generations after Adam:Genesis 6Every thought was consistently evil… But Noah found favor with the Lord. The whole world chose wrong. One man chose right.Noah didn't start with “Build an ark.” He had a life of faithful “ifs” that led to greater trust.A Personal Example: NehemiahNehemiah 1:8–9If you return to Me… I will gather you.Nehemiah read that promise and said: “That's my ‘if.'”He took personal responsibility and acted on it.We Still Live in an “If” WorldRomans 8:13If you live according to the flesh, you will die. But if by the Spirit…Even under grace, choices matter.God controls history. He does not control your decisions. The Cloud of WitnessesHebrews 12:1–2We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses…They lived the life of faith. They resisted sin—even to persecution and death.Jesus is our ultimate example:He resisted to the point of sweating blood. He chose the right “if” every time.He is the author and finisher of our faith.Final Question: What “If” Are You Choosing? Are you revisiting an old decision God asked you to make? Are you at the beginning of a small choice that could harden your heart? Are you standing alone at work or in family situations?Remember: You are not alone. There is a cloud of witnesses cheering for faith. There is a Savior who initiated your faith and will perfect it.Every day, you choose your “if.”Choose faith. Choose obedience. Choose to draw near. And as Scripture promises:Draw near to Him —&

He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.'”The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7If you worship me, it will all be yours.”Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'”The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. For it is written:“‘He will command his angels concerning you   to guard you carefully;   they will lift you up in their hands,   so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'”Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'”When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.

Center and Presence1 Kings 5:1-5, 8:1-131 Samuel 16:7 1 Kings 2:1-41 Kings 5:1-51 King Hiram of Tyre sent his emissaries to Solomon when he heard that he had been anointed king in his father's place, for Hiram had always been friends with David.2 Solomon sent this message to Hiram: 3 “You know my father David was not able to build a temple for the name of the Lord his God. This was because of the warfare all around him until the Lord put his enemies under his feet. 4 The Lord my God has now given me rest on every side; there is no enemy or misfortune. 5 So I plan to build a temple for the name of the Lord my God, according to what the Lord promised my father David: ‘I will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the temple for my name.'1 Kings 8:1-131 At that time Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, all the tribal heads and the ancestral leaders of the Israelites before him at Jerusalem in order to bring the ark of the Lord's covenant from the city of David, that is Zion. 2 So all the men of Israel were assembled in the presence of King Solomon in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month,[a] at the festival.3 All the elders of Israel came, and the priests picked up the ark. 4 The priests and the Levites brought the ark of the Lord, the tent of meeting, and the holy utensils that were in the tent. 5 King Solomon and the entire congregation of Israel, who had gathered around him and were with him in front of the ark, were sacrificing sheep, goats, and cattle that could not be counted or numbered, because there were so many. 6 The priests brought the ark of the Lord's covenant to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the temple, to the most holy place beneath the wings of the cherubim. 7 For the cherubim were spreading their wings over[b] the place of the ark, so that the cherubim covered the ark and its poles from above. 8 The poles were so long that their ends were seen from the holy place in front of the inner sanctuary, but they were not seen from outside the sanctuary; they are still there today. 9 Nothing was in the ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites when they came out of the land of Egypt.10 When the priests came out of the holy place, the cloud filled the Lord's temple, 11 and because of the cloud, the priests were not able to continue ministering, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple.12 Then Solomon said:The Lord said that he would dwell in total darkness.13 I have indeed built an exalted temple for you,a place for your dwelling forever.1 Kings 8:9 Nothing was in the ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites when they came out of the land of Egypt.Exodus 19:1-7If the Ark is in the central place of honor in the Temple...If the Arik is the physical representation of the presence of God...In the center (the heart) of the Ark is the physical representation of covenant- the two tablets.Genesis 17:7 Exodus 6:7 Ezekiel 34:24 Ezekiel 36:28 You will live in the land that I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.Jeremiah 7:23 However, I did give them this command: ‘Obey me, and then I will be your God, and you will be my people. Follow every way I command you so that it may go well with you.'Jeremiah 31:33 “Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days”—the Lord's declaration. “I will put my teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.Jeremiah 30:22 You will be my people, and I will be your God.1 Kings 8:9 You will be my people, and I will be your God.What would be different in your life if the central place was, “You will be my people and I will be your God”?if covenant was centralif relationship was centralif the holy place was a relationship with the God of Life

Sign-up for my free 20-day devotional, The Word Before Work Foundations, at http://TWBWFoundations.com--Series: 7 Biblical Principles for Resolving Conflict at WorkDevotional: 2 of 7If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. (Romans 12:18)I'm ashamed to admit that I've been waiting eight years for someone to make the first move in pursuing peace with me. From my perspective, this person is the “more guilty” party in our conflict (whatever that means). But today's passage has convicted me to take the first step toward peace. This verse is also the source of the second of seven biblical principles I'm sharing for resolving conflict at work….Principle #2: Make the First Move to resolve any conflict. This principle is directly connected to the first one we explored last week to “Praise the Prince of Peace for the grace and mercy he has shown you.” If Jesus waited for the guilty party to make the first move in resolving conflict, you and I would be eternally dead in our sin. But Christ did move first. He pursued peace with us while we rejected him. And so, to follow Jesus fully includes following his example to blaze trails of peace with others. Which is why Paul said, “as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone” (see Romans 12:18). Hebrews 12:14 says the same thing: “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy.” The call here is proactive rather than reactive in the image of Christ. What conflict is nagging at your attention most this Monday morning? Is it a team member you're frustrated with for missing a deadline? Is it a boss whose stubborn opinion on a policy infuriates you? Is it a client who you've heard has been speaking poorly about you behind your back? Whatever it is, resolve to make the first move to pursue peace. To make this more practical, allow me to suggest you take a couple of minutes to complete these four actions.First, create a note in a place that will be easily accessible throughout this series. It could be a note on your phone, desktop, journal—wherever.Second, write down the name of the person you've been thinking of during this devotional. The one you have the most unresolved conflict with. Can't think of anyone? Think about who you don't want to see on Zoom, in the breakroom, or at the grocery store today. That's the name!Third, jot down Romans 12:18 underneath their name to remind yourself of the biblical call for you to make the first move in pursuing peace.Fourth, pray for the name on your list and ask the Lord for wisdom as you pursue peace with them. Next week, we'll get even more practical about what God's Word says about how to do exactly that!

1 Samuel 20 (NIV) David and Jonathan 20Then David fled from Naioth at Ramah and went to Jonathan and asked, What have I done? What is my crime? How have I wrongedyour father, that he is trying to kill me? 2Never! Jonathan replied. You are not going to die! Look, my father doesnt do anything, great or small, without letting me know. Why would he hide this from me? It isnt so! 3But David took an oathand said, Your father knows very well that I have found favor in your eyes, and he has said to himself, Jonathan must not know this or he will be grieved. Yet as surely as theLordlives and as you live, there is only a step between me and death. 4Jonathan said to David, Whatever you want me to do, Ill do for you. 5So David said, Look, tomorrow is the New Moon feast, and I am supposed to dine with the king; but let me go and hidein the field until the evening of the day after tomorrow.6If your father misses me at all, tell him, David earnestly asked my permissionto hurry to Bethlehem, his hometown, because an annualsacrifice is being made there for his whole clan.7If he says, Very well, then your servant is safe. But if he loses his temper, you can be sure that he is determinedto harm me.8As for you, show kindness to your servant, for you have brought him into a covenantwith you before theLord. If I am guilty, then killme yourself! Why hand me over to your father? 9Never! Jonathan said. If I had the least inkling that my father was determined to harm you, wouldnt I tell you? 10David asked, Who will tell me if your father answers you harshly? 11Come, Jonathan said, lets go out into the field. So they went there together. 12Then Jonathan said to David, I swear by theLord, the God of Israel, that I will surely soundout my father by this time the day after tomorrow! If he is favorably disposed toward you, will I not send you word and let you know?13But if my father intends to harm you, may theLorddeal with Jonathan, be it ever so severely,if I do not let you know and send you away in peace. May theLordbe withyou as he has been with my father.14But show me unfailing kindnesslike theLords kindness as long as I live, so that I may not be killed,15and do not ever cut off your kindness from my familynot even when theLordhas cut off every one of Davids enemies from the face of the earth. 16So Jonathanmade a covenantwith the house of David, saying, May theLordcall Davids enemies to account.17And Jonathan had David reaffirm his oathout of love for him, because he loved him as he loved himself. 18Then Jonathan said to David, Tomorrow is the New Moon feast. You will be missed, because your seat will be empty.19The day after tomorrow, toward evening, go to the place where you hidwhen this trouble began, and wait by the stone Ezel.20I will shoot three arrowsto the side of it, as though I were shooting at a target.21Then I will send a boy and say, Go, find the arrows. If I say to him, Look, the arrows are on this side of you; bring them here, then come, because, as surely as theLordlives, you are safe; there is no danger.22But if I say to the boy, Look, the arrows are beyondyou, then you must go, because theLordhas sent you away.23And about the matter you and I discussedremember, theLordis witnessbetween you and me forever. 24So David hid in the field, and when the New Moon feastcame, the king sat down to eat.25He sat in his customary place by the wall, opposite Jonathan, and Abner sat next to Saul, but Davids place was empty.26Saul said nothing that day, for he thought, Something must have happened to David to make him ceremonially uncleansurely he is unclean.27But the next day, the second day of the month, Davids place was empty again. Then Saul said to his son Jonathan, Why hasnt the son of Jesse come to the meal, either yesterday or today? 28Jonathan answered, David earnestly asked me for permissionto go to Bethlehem.29He said, Let me go, because our family is observing a sacrificein the town and my brother has ordered me to be there. If I have found favor in your eyes, let me get away to see my brothers. That is why he has not come to the kings table. 30Sauls anger flared up at Jonathan and he said to him, You son of a perverse and rebellious woman! Dont I know that you have sided with the son of Jesse to your own shame and to the shame of the mother who bore you?31As long as the son of Jesse lives on this earth, neither you nor your kingdomwill be established. Now send someone to bring him to me, for he must die! 32Whyshould he be put to death? Whathas he done? Jonathan asked his father.33But Saul hurled his spear at him to kill him. Then Jonathan knew that his father intendedto kill David. 34Jonathan got up from the table in fierce anger; on that second day of the feast he did not eat, because he was grieved at his fathers shameful treatment of David. 35In the morning Jonathan went out to the field for his meeting with David. He had a small boy with him,36and he said to the boy, Run and find the arrows I shoot. As the boy ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.37When the boy came to the place where Jonathans arrow had fallen, Jonathan called out after him, Isnt the arrow beyondyou?38Then he shouted, Hurry! Go quickly! Dont stop! The boy picked up the arrow and returned to his master.39(The boy knew nothing about all this; only Jonathan and David knew.)40Then Jonathan gave his weapons to the boy and said, Go, carry them back to town. 41After the boy had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone and bowed down before Jonathan three times, with his face to the ground. Then they kissed each other and wept togetherbut David wept the most. 42Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, for we have sworn friendshipwith each other in the name of theLord, saying, TheLordis witnessbetween you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants forever. Then David left, and Jonathan went back to the town.

Amen. First Lesson: Acts 8:26-40 26Then an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get up and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This is a wilderness road.) 27So he got up and went. Now there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of the Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, in charge of her entire treasury. He had come to Jerusalem to worship 28and was returning home; seated in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah.29Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over to this chariot and join it.” 30So Philip ran up to it and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah. He asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31He replied, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to get in and sit beside him. 32Now the passage of the scripture that he was reading was this: “Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter, and like a lamb silent before its shearer, so he does not open his mouth. 33In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken away from the earth.” 34The eunuch asked Philip, “About whom, may I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?” 35Then Philip began to speak, and starting with this scripture, he proclaimed to him the good news about Jesus. 36As they were going along the road, they came to some water; and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water! What is to prevent me from being baptized?” 38He commanded the chariot to stop, and both of them, Philip and the eunuch, went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. 39When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. 40But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he was passing through the region, he proclaimed the good news to all the towns until he came to Caesarea. Psalm: Psalm 22:24-30 24 My praise is of him in the great assembly; *        I will perform my vows in the presence of those who worship him. 25 The poor shall eat and be satisfied,    and those who seek the Lord shall praise him: *       “May your heart live for ever!” 26 All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, *        and all the families of the nations shall bow before him. 27 For kingship belongs to the Lord; *        he rules over the nations. 28 To him alone all who sleep in the earth bow down in worship; *        all who go down to the dust fall before him. 29 My soul shall live for him;    my descendants shall serve him; *        they shall be known as the Lord'S for ever. 30 They shall come and make known to a people yet unborn *        the saving deeds that he has done. Epistle: 1 John 4:7-21 7Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9God's love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world. 15God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God. 16So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. 17Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgment, because as he is, so are we in this world.18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. 19We love because he first loved us. 20Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. 21The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. Gospel: John 15:1-8 1”I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower. 2He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. 3You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. 4Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. 6Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.

Our investigative journey continues into the 'Where' takes us to the pages of Luke's Gospel. This passage paints a vivid picture of the place where the greatest story ever told began: Bethlehem. As I think about Bethlehem's history I am reminded that much of God's greatest work is done in unexpected ways, by unexpected people, in unexpected places. It is often the places that we don't expect to find God that we do. Luke 2:1-7If you are interested in starting a micro church or hosting a small group in your home with like-minded individuals, we've got you covered. Staples Mill Road Baptist Church

1Pursue love, andearnestly desire thespiritual gifts, especially that you mayprophesy.2Forone who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.3On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.4The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.5Now I want you all to speak in tongues, buteven more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up. 6Now, brothers,[a]if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you somerevelation or knowledge or prophecy orteaching?7If even lifeless instruments, such as the flute or the harp, do not give distinct notes, how will anyone know what is played?8Andif the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle?9So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will bespeaking into the air.10There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning,11but if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will bea foreigner to the speaker and the speaker a foreigner to me.12So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church. 13Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret.14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful.15What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also;I will sing praise with my spirit, but I willsing with my mind also.16Otherwise, if you give thanks with your spirit, how can anyone in the position of an outsider[b]sayAmen toyour thanksgiving when he does not know what you are saying?17For you may be giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not being built up.18I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.19Nevertheless, in church I would rather speak five words with my mind in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue. 20Brothers,do not be children in your thinking.Be infants in evil, but in your thinking bemature.21In the Law it is written,By people of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.22Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is a sign[c]not for unbelievers but for believers.23If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds?24But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all,25the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so,falling on his face, he will worship God anddeclare that God is really among you.

And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.1 John 3:22And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.John 15:7If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.John 14:13-14And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.Colossians 1:9 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,Matthew 6:9-13 Pray, then, in this way: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.Romans 1:10 always in my prayers making request, if perhaps now at last by the will of God I may succeed in coming to you.John 9:31 We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him.Romans 8:27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.Ephesians 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,1 Thessalonians 5:15–18:See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.Jeremiah 29:11-13For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/622a9079e8fb640012cb94f3. I pray that God would "give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. 18I, pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance" https://plus.acast.com/s/blueprint-of-faith. HOLY GOSPEL: John 14:1-14  [Jesus said to the disciples:] 1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. 4And you know the way to the place where I am going.” 5Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”  8Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” 9Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father'? 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if you do not, then believe me because of the works themselves. 12Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. 13I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.”

In this episode of the Dr. B Show Podcast, Dr. B talks to real estate consultant and entrepreneur Royce Blackwell. Royce talks about the skills that have served him well from selling cars to real estate and eventually in starting his own business. He also talks about the current trends in the real estate industry and gives tips for people who may want to buy and/or sell property in the near future. Spoiler alert: it's currently a seller's market, but it may not be for very long. HIGHLIGHTSYou always need to planAlways listen to your clients Leave a legacy through real estateHas the residential real estate market peaked already? Why buying real estate can be hard for some peopleQUOTESRoyce: "What helped me most recently is being more organized. Because when you're unorganized, even with your schedule and just in general when you're starting to get clients, get a CRM so you can organize your business and let the CRM do its job." Royce: "It's a good time to buy if you're ready to buy. It is a seller's market, people are paying a little bit over asking. But if the interest rate is lower, then their buying power is more." Royce: "It's a case-by-case basis. But I think more so the lack of information and just the market being saturated and it being a seller's market. Not planning far enough in advance to start saving money. If you want to buy a house and now it's very competitive, if you can put down more of a significant downpayment, you look like a better candidate." You can learn more about Royce in the links below.Instagram (Personal): https://www.instagram.com/royceblackwell/ Instagram (Legacy Group - Option 1 Realty): https://www.instagram.com/the_legacy_group8/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/royce-blackwell-33633b23/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/royce.blackwelljolley.7If you're listening to the Dr. B Show Podcast, please subscribe, share, and we're listening for your feedback.
