We dive into her personal ADHD journey, the powerful intersection of being Black and neurodivergent, and how her diagnosis—sparked by an unexpected wave of social media feedback—reshaped her understanding of herself. Ashley opens up about what it was like navigating school as a gifted yet misunderstood student, and how she's found strength and freedom in embracing the way her brain works. This conversation is packed with insight, laughter, and hard truths. We talk about the realities of being undiagnosed for years, the emotional and physical toll of late recognition, and how ADHD both challenges and fuels her creativity in fast-paced writing rooms. This outtake from a business meeting with my operations manager, Daryl, asks the question: Is it a high-level teaching? Laziness? Or abuse? To learn more about the three types of spiritual teachers:Watch This Video
Paul reminds the Thessalonian church that work is not a curse, but a calling. God designed work to be a reflection of His own creative nature and service to others. In II Thessalonians 3, Paul commands believers to avoid idleness and to model diligence, integrity, and service in all that they do. Work is part of God's divine plan, demonstrated through Paul's own example, and is an act of Christian service when done with a willing heart. Laziness, both physical and spiritual, robs believers of purpose—but work done “as unto the Lord” glorifies God and builds His Kingdom.
When your partner goes out of town and you have the house to yourself, is there a sense of loneliness or a sense of freedom? Or, is there a third option? Laziness. Jeremy Bradley talks about his laziest week ever with the husband out of town. He takes procrastinating to a new level. He implemented certain criteria to actually do things and get things done. "I barely even moved my body the whole day," he says. Later, JB goes on another rant about social media and how Instagram has gone from photo sharing to political and life rants. Is it time to bring back pics of your meal?
Have you ever found yourself staring at your to-do list, desperately wanting to work, but somehow—-NOT working? You're scrolling through social media, reorganizing your desk, making another coffee—-doing anything but the thing you actually need to do. You are not lazy or broken, and according to today's guest, your problem isn't willpower; it's neuroscience. Are you ready to achieve more with brain-based strategies? Join us for a conversation that will change how you think about productivity. Robin J. Emdon, known as “the procrastination slayer,” shares his personal journey from chronic procrastination to accountability coach. After realizing that he took 10 years to complete a 6-year degree due to procrastination, Robin researched the neuroscience behind productivity and wrote Get Resultsology®: The Science of Getting Stuff Done. He explains procrastination through brain science, describing the conflict between threat modality and reward modality. He introduces his “inner productivity team,” the Conductor, the Fun-Sized Warrior, and the Scholar. His work emphasizes that accountability is the critical missing link for sustained productivity, citing research that shows a 33% improvement in goal achievement with the proper accountability structure. Robin's signature momentum formula, “Do it today–Profit tomorrow–Repeat,” helps clients worldwide turn daily action into meaningful progress and attainable success. He does this from his quiet corner on England's southwest coast. Show Highlights:Robin's journey: a 2019 face-palm moment that changed everythingThe prevalence of procrastination The COVID-19 shutdown—and an opportunity to do meaningful researchRobin's embarrassment about his procrastination problemThe structure of Robin's book, GetResultsology®: The Science of Getting Stuff Done, divided into three specific sections“Money is infinite; you can always make more. Your time and life are finite. Procrastination greatly impacts your ‘time account'.”Momentum is the missing link to productivity—and this creates lifestyle freedom. To get into “the productivity groove,” you need an inner productivity team: the Conductor (dopamine), the Fun-Sized Warrior (noradrenaline), and the Scholar (acetylcholine).Assessing your threat modality vs. your reward modalityUnderstanding accountability–and how it drives resultsResources:Connect with Robin J. America had the chance to embrace discipline — but instead, it chose laziness. From fast food to shortcuts to excuse culture, effort is seen as optional. In this rant, I break down why America chooses laziness over discipline, and why that mindset is holding us back.

"Sermon on Ecclesiastes 4:4–12 | “It Is Not Good for Man to Be Alone”Work, success, and relationships—Solomon shows us how all of these can become meaningless when pursued apart from God. Success often stirs up envy in others. Laziness leads to ruin. Lonely labor leaves us empty. But the wisdom of God reminds us: “It is not good for man to be alone.”In this sermon, we consider:The vanity of labor driven by envy (vv. 4–6)The emptiness of work without relationships (vv. 7–8)The blessing of companionship in a world marked by sin (vv. 9–12)How Christian fellowship provides the way forwardGod has made us for community. From marriage to friendship to the communion of the saints, Scripture reminds us that two are better than one, and that a threefold cord is not quickly broken. As believers, we are called not to isolation but to fellowship, not to envy but to love, and not to empty striving but to shared joy in Christ.✝️ May God grant us grace to labor together faithfully, rejoicing in the fellowship He has given us in Christ.#Ecclesiastes #ChristianFellowship #Sermon #BibleTeaching #Gospel #CommunityInChrist #FaithAndWork"
Luke examines several discussions centered on veneration of the reformers and their authority on theology, then addresses a conversation on Marian doctrine in the Roman Catholic church, then concludes with questioning the state's role in punishing heresy.
In a race, DNF means "Did Not Finish." You started but didn't make it to the end. In this message, Tiffany Nunnally tells us how to avoid a spiritual DNF—and how to bounce back when we do fail. A spiritual DNF is failing to walk in obedience to God's calling on our lives.2 Timothy 4:7-8: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith... the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing."Everyone experiences failure—maybe in marriage, or by neglecting spiritual disciplines. But failure isn't a period; it's a comma. It's not the end—just a chapter.Acts 20:24: "My life is worth nothing... unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus."Why do we fail?PridePride leaders to injury, and injury leads to failure. Pride causes spiritual injury. It makes us rely on ourselves instead of God. Proverbs 16:18: "Pride goes before destruction; and a haughty spirit before a fall." Pride leads to burnout, burnout to discouragement, and discouragement to quitting.Spiritual burnout happens when we try to earn God's or others' approval, ignoring rest and God's guidance. No one can run on empty. Doing everything often means doing nothing well. Knowledge can be solo, but character requires community. Pace yourself. If you start too fast from pride or competition, you'll burn out.2. LazinessDon't get caught being undertrained and unprepared. Laziness says, "It's good enough."2 Tim. 4:2: "Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage - with great patience and careful instruction."Failure happens when we make excuses, let busyness rule, or believe we're the exception. Complacency makes us overestimate ourselves. Faith is trust + preparation; complacency is ego + entitlement.3. InsecurityDon't disqualify yourself before starting. God wants you, not your perfection. Fear of failure leads to fear of trying.2 Timothy 1:7: "God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline."Comparison steals joy and distracts. Your identity in Christ fights insecurity.4. Ignorance (Mistakes)We can't succeed without experience—or grace.Ephesians 2:8: "By grace you have been saved through faith. and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God."When we fail:Recover, but plan for re-entry.Rebuild the foundation.Recognize (acknowledge previous errors).Relationships (we repair in community) (James 5:16).Repeat. Fail forward. Even falling moves you forward.Don't disqualify yourself. The only true failure is DNS—Did Not Start.Hebrews 12:1: "Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us."Love failure. Love conviction and repentance—it keeps us dependent on the only one who never fails. The goal isn't perfection, but dependence. How are YOU bouncing back from failure?

Persistent Pests “Catch all the foxes, those little foxes, before they ruin the vineyard of love, for the grapevines are blossoming!” Song of Songs 2:15 These little foxes aren't yet fully grown. Nobody would think a cuddly little fox would be dangerous to have around. They love nothing better than to eat the young grapes before they come out fully. Thus, they wreak havoc on the vines of our walk with the Lord. Let's mention 5 of the “little foxes” or persistent pests that ruin some of our fruitful writing before it's fully ripened… 1.) Sensitiveness or easily offended. It can be a small chip on our shoulder but flare up if we're not given the respect we desire. It can stifle our creativity in writing and dry up the flow of the Spirit. Pray that we can have the mind and humility of Christ. 2.) Laziness. Too lazy to dig into the Word. Too lazy to spend time in prayer. This also leaks into our writing. The Kingdom Writer cannot afford to compromise in these areas if we expect eternal impact. There's a cost to those things and also a great reward. 3.) Living in regret. The most powerful 3 words in history were uttered by Jesus while hanging on the cross, “It is finished!” Regret sucks the life out of us and keeps us from moving forward in all that God has for us. 4.) Distraction. Causes us to go down rabbit trails. Social media is the major distraction of our day. One writer calls it “nuggets of nothingness.” Before we know it, we've wasted 1-2 hours with nothing to show for it. 5.) Busyness. We fill up our days and weeks with good things. But somehow we fail to set aside scheduled writing blocks. Or when we do, it can easily be cancelled and replaced by something else. It's not treated as a priority. The only way to handle these “little foxes” is to kill them. If we don't, our sweetest, most fruitful writing, like vine-ripened grapes, will not materialize. In Part 4 of A Hundred Fold in the Same Year, Bishop Omar shares a convicting message titled Hindrances of Sowing with a focus on laziness. Drawing wisdom from Proverbs, he revealed how slothfulness stifles growth and blocks blessings. Laziness is more than inactivity—it's an unwillingness to use the energy God has given us. Bishop reminded us that even Jesus told us to consider the ant and look at its ways. This message challenges us to step up, work with excellence, and represent Christ in all we do.

We've all heard it: “You're just being lazy.” But what if that label is nothing more than a cover-up for something deeper — burnout, fear, or a lack of direction? In this episode, Cole Nixon flips the script on the myth of laziness and dives into the real reasons we sometimes stall out. From personal stories to community reflections, we explore how hustle culture distorts our self-worth and why rest isn't weakness — it's wisdom.Whether you're grinding through a tough season or feeling stuck in the guilt loop, this episode is your permission slip to pause, reflect, and reframe. Because maybe the problem isn't that you're lazy… maybe you're just human.

Our parsha begins with the unusual law of the marriage of a Jewish warrior and an enemy captive woman. When a Jewish warrior spots a prisoner of war that he desires to marry, there is a process and a protocol for how he may marry her. The Talmud (also featured by Rashi) offers a very unusual classification of why the Torah permits this union. On its surface, this reason compounds the difficulties of this law. In this very special edition of the Parsha podcast, we share a novel and instructive approach to this very unusual law.– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –DONATE: Please consider supporting the podcasts by making a donation to help fund our Jewish outreach and educational efforts at https://www.torchweb.org/support.php. Steve sits down with John Tamny, Political Economy editor at Forbes, senior economic adviser to Toreador Research & Trading, and editor of RealClearMarkets.com, to tackle some of the biggest myths in economics and public policy. They'll discuss why the so-called “end of laziness” will run roughshod over income guarantees, exposing how entitlement schemes can't withstand real-world economics. Plus, Tamny introduces his brand-new book, Deficit Delusion: Why Everything Left, Right, and Supply-Side Tells You About the National Debt Is Wrong, where he flips the conventional wisdom on debt and deficits upside down. This is a conversation about hard truths, false promises, and the future of America's economic freedom.
IntroGood morning! My name is Ken, and I serve as one of the elders here. I haven't delivered a sermon in nine years, but I've been serving in ministry the whole time—from pastoring to managing a condo complex. I've wondered if my work was spiritually significant, a feeling many of us share. Today, we'll explore the big idea that God desires to be glorified in our work, no matter where we are.Scripture ReferencesProverbs 8:22, Proverbs 3:19-20, Genesis 1:28, Genesis 2:15, Genesis 3:17-19, Proverbs 26:13, Proverbs 6:6-11, Colossians 3:23, Romans 12:11, Ephesians 4:28, Proverbs 22:29, Proverbs 18:9, Proverbs 16:3, Ephesians 2:8-9Key PointsWork is Divine and Human:God is a worker. Creation is the result of His masterful, intelligent design (Prov 3:19-20). He works wisely, and so should we.Humans are made to work. God put man in the Garden "to tend and keep it" (Gen 2:15). He infused in us a yearning to explore, create, and develop. We find purpose and provision through labor. The Fall and the Two Dangers:Sin cursed the ground, making work toilsome (Gen 3:17-19). This led to two extremes: laziness and workaholism.Laziness makes excuses ("There's a lion in the road!" Prov 26:13).Workaholism makes work an idol and our identity. We trade our souls for success, but our true identity is as God's child, regardless of our job title.Four Characteristics of Working Wisely:Work by Faith: Do everything "as unto the Lord," your unseen supervisor (Col 3:23).Work Diligently: Like the ant, don't be a sluggard (Prov 6:6). God has provided what you need, so go get it. Everyone must participate.Work for the Colony: Ants have two stomachs: one for themselves, and a second to bring food back for the colony. Work not only to nourish yourself but also to have something "to give to him who has need" (Eph 4:28).Work with Excellence: Do your work well, not just heartily (Prov 22:29). Whether you're a CEO or a burger flipper, strive for excellence because you are working for God, not men.The Pulpit of Your Work:My own experience as a pastor-turned-drywall-worker taught me this: "That job is your pulpit." We can minister in whatever "garden" God has placed us in. When we commit our work to the Lord, our thoughts and purpose become established.Joseph is a model for working diligently and with excellence, even in the worst circumstances. God vindicated him and promoted him from prison to the palace because he stayed faithful.ConclusionWhat if reaching the world was as simple as going to work? We can glorify God in our everyday jobs and minister to those around us. This is a sacred calling.Calls to ActionCommit your work to the Lord: Today, pray and put your job in His hands. Ask Him to change your thoughts and perspective.Do a self-check: Where is your identity? In your title or in Christ?Receive the Gift of Grace: We cannot earn salvation through our work; it is a gift from God. Come to the communion table and receive the gift Jesus has prepared. When it comes to our finances, we often wonder: Where does God's provision end and our responsibility begin? Should we simply wait and trust Him—or get to work and provide for ourselves? The truth is, it's not either-or. God calls us to both trust Him and participate in His provision. Not because He needs our help, but because He delights in working through us.Avoiding Two ExtremesYou've likely heard the phrase, “Let go and let God.” While it sounds spiritual, it can sometimes lead to passivity. On the other end of the spectrum, some of us live as if everything depends on us—hustling, stressing, and striving in our own strength.Scripture offers a better way: a life of faith that doesn't ignore work, and a life of work that doesn't ignore faith. God invites us into a partnership—trusting His sovereignty while faithfully engaging in our responsibilities.Paul writes in 2 Timothy 2:6, “It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops.” The farmer can't make the rain fall or the seeds grow, yet he tills, plants, and harvests. He works diligently while depending entirely on God for the increase. In the same way, we can't control the economy or prevent every financial emergency—but we can make wise choices. By living below our means, avoiding debt, and giving generously, we acknowledge God as our Provider while faithfully stewarding what He entrusts to us.God Provides—We ParticipatePsalm 104:14 reminds us, “You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for man to cultivate.” God causes the growth, yet invites us to cultivate it. His provision is not a one-sided transaction—it's a relationship. We see this throughout Scripture. When Jesus fed the 5,000, He didn't create food out of thin air. Instead, He multiplied a boy's simple lunch. God chooses to involve us, not because He lacks resources, but because He delights in using us to bless others.God's Word makes it clear that provision and work go hand in hand.Ephesians 4:28 urges, “Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor… so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.”1 Thessalonians 4:11–12 calls us to “work with your hands… so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.”Laziness is never encouraged, but neither is frantic self-reliance. Instead, Scripture calls us to wise diligence rooted in God's faithfulness.Stewardship means recognizing that everything belongs to God. We are not owners but managers, entrusted with His resources to reflect His character. And His provision is never just for us. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 9:10–11, “He who supplies seed to the sower… will supply and multiply your seed for sowing… You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way.”God enriches us so that generosity might overflow through us—producing thanksgiving to Him.Living in the Beautiful In-BetweenSo how do we balance trust in God's provision with active participation?Pray before you plan—inviting God into your financial goals.Work with diligence, not fear—resting in His faithfulness, not your performance.Give generously—not because God needs your money, but because He invites you to reflect His heart.Rest confidently—knowing God is at work even when you sleep. At the end of the day, God delights in using ordinary people with ordinary means to display His extraordinary grace. He is the Provider, and we have the privilege of being His participants.Provision, then, is not just about a paycheck—it's about a partnership. Let's stop asking whether it's “all up to us” or “all up to God” and embrace the beautiful in-between: trusting Him, working faithfully, and joining Him in the joy of provision. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:My wife and I inherited a house from a family member in another state. We'd like to keep it available for friends, family, or church members to use, rather than renting it out. What do you think about that approach? My wife and I are in our early 80s. Years ago, we used our Roth IRAs to pay off our home, allowing us to live debt-free in retirement. We use our IRA for charitable giving, but with the rising cost of living, I'm wondering if a reverse mortgage could be a smart tool. What's your advice? If I already have a living will, will my assets still need to go through the probate process?I've had a long-term care policy since 2018 with $400,000 in coverage, but I was told there's a six-month waiting period before it pays out. That seems long to me. Should I consider canceling the policy?Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's New Quarterly Magazine (Become a FaithFi Partner)Wisdom Over Wealth: 12 Lessons from Ecclesiastes on MoneyLook At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. In this podcast, Jeff talks about his trip to Italy and love of Italians — and notes the many similarities between Italians and Jews and one glaring difference. Italy was great but the constant content making of young people in Capri annoyed him. Only this dopey, lazy mentality could drive the success of Zorhan Mamdani, a Socialist Hamas supporter, in the NYC mayoral race.
Well, I found one that really hit me hard as there is a lot of connection to this one for me. It comes from another one from my “All Star” lineup starters, Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi) reminds us of this important life point: “Your laziness is disrespectful for the people who believe in you.” Looking back throughout my life, dang, I've been so guilty of this so often. This goes deeper as I'll share some of those thoughts here in this episode. Thanks for listening.
