PUT TWO AND TWO TOGETHER!!! Judy and Linda were fine with "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" (이상한 우영우), an ENA drama starring Park EunBin and Kang TaeOh. The drama starts off charming and showcases great acting from the cast, but definitely suffers in the latter half from some nonsensical decisions from the writer.  To celebrate their recent 15th anniversary, we'll be recording a Girls' Generation-themed episode next. So check out the first episodes of "If You Wish Upon Me" (당신이 소원을 말하면) starring SooYoung, "Jinxed At First" (징크스의 연인) starring SeoHyun and "Good Job" (굿잡) with YuRi. Unfortunately we can't figure out where to find YoonA's "Big Mouth" (빅마우스). Also an episode of "Young Actors' Retreat" (청춘MT) for the heck of it.   Digressions:   3:32 - Listener E-mails! 20:29 - "Chorus" was one of the first games Judy streamed on her Twitch channel (twitch.tv/ladyjutea) and had a great time in spite of it taking itself way too seriously. 24:48 - Linda watched the film version of "Dear Evan Hansen" on the plane to Korea and loved it.  26:15 - Judy watched "Assassination" (암살), a period piece set during the Japanese occupation of Korea. It stars Jun JiHyun, Jo JinWoong, Lee JungJae, and apparently every single respected Korean actor. 28:01 - Linda watched the 2018 film, "Swing Kids", starring Do KyungSoo. 29:27 - "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" is the latest Marvel series on Disney+. Judy, as with most things, wishes it was edited tighter. 30:45 - Linda watched all of "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha" (갯마을 차차차) and it was cute. That's all there is to say about that. 32:45 - Judy watched "Thor: Love and Thunder" and Christian Bale was the best thing in it. Gasp! 34:39 - Linda's nostalgic love for the original movie was not enough to save the new series, "A League of Their Own". 37:40 - Despite the many bugs and obtuse puzzles, "Sable" is a beautiful indie game about finding your place in the world. 40:01 - "Terminal List" is a graphically violent series out a super soldier going on a revenge mission and why the heck did Linda watch all of it? 44:21 - "Boyfriend Dungeon" was a fun indie combination of a dungeon crawl and dating sim. Of course, Judy dated a kpop singer who can turn into a lightsaber! 47:51 - Linda fell asleep constantly during "Lightyear", which is pretty damning. 49:10 - Judy is currently streaming "Trek to Yomi", in which you play a samurai on a quest to save his village and his love. OOF. Judy and Linda were pretty disappointed by the scant selection of K-dramas this winter. We did find an unexpected gem, though!    Digressions:   1:08 – Listener E-mails! We get listener feedback on “Bridgerton”, and the terrible dramas we watched for Episode 163!   18:46 – Linda started watching "Youn's Stay" (윤스테이), a spin-off of the variety show, “Youn’s Kitchen” (윤식당) . We hope it becomes accessible to non-Korean speaking viewers soon!   25:21 – Judy scratched her H.P. Lovecraft itch by watching "Color Out of Space" (2019) starring Nicolas Cage.   27:30 – Judy continues her Nicolas Cage run with the Netflix series, "History of Swear Words"!     29:16 - "Run On" (런온) is a JTBC romantic comedy (???), starring Im SiWan, Shin SeKyung and SooYoung (Girl's Generation). As predicted, SooYoung is the best part about this drama, but we're not about to watch hours of something just for 5 minutes of catty fun.  39:43 - "True Beauty" (여신강림) is a godawful TVN drama based on a webtoon (sigh). It stars Moon GaYoung and Cha EunWoo. It's basically "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" all over again, but makeup instead of plastic surgery! We HATED all the characters in this.  48:05 - "The Penthouse" (펜트하우스) is an absolutely bonkers drama from SBS, starring Eugene (S.E.S) and Kim SoYeon. Can you believe this was our second choice? 1:04:39 - "Lovestruck in the City" (도시남녀의 사랑법) is a uniquely crafted drama from KakaoTV, and stars Ji ChangWook and Kim JiWon. Judy liked the natural acting in the slice-of-life flashbacks of the characters, while Linda was annoyed by the forced premise and lack of plot. 1:15:03 - "The Uncanny Counter" (경이로운 소문) was a last minute addition to this episode. It's an OCN supernatural comedy, starring Jo ByungGyu, Kim SeJeong, Yoon JoonSang and Yeom HyeRan. On this week... SNSD is back!!!! Well.....sort of. The Girls' Generation "Sub-unit" is out with there new single, "Lil' Touch" and it's a load of fun to see these girls still put out music together. The unit is called Oh!GG and consists of leader Taeyeon, Yuri, Hyoyeon, Sunny, and Yoona. All five ladies remained in contract with SM Entertainment while members Tiffany, Seohyun, and Sooyoung left to pursue other endeavors. Even though they firmly say GG has not disbanded it's hard to say what will happen in the future. We hear this all the time from groups that break a part or lose members but only time will tell. Melissa Hung, founding editor of Hyphen magazine, got her first taste of journalism by interviewing Sooyoung Park when he was the frontman for Chicago-based indie rock band Seam.  Tonight, she returns to her roots and interviews  Sooyoung about the reunion tour with his first band, Bitch Magnet.   Bitch Magnet backstage in Lexington.
