La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Delivered by Gladys from the Parish of Saint Gabriel in the Diocese of Bandung, Indonesia. Acts of the Apostles 9: 1-20; Rs psalm 117: 1.2; John 6: 52-59.SPIRITUAL FOOD AND DRINK The title of our meditation today is:Spiritual Food and Drink. When the Lord Jesus Christ for the first time explainedthat His body and blood must be consumed as the food by those who believed inHim, one question that we can ask would be as the following: for all who hadlistened to it, who was the first to understand then eated meat and drank bloodof Jesus? This question really evoked emotionsof Jesus' listeners at that time. The Jews felt amused and embarrassed. Thedisciples were divided into those who accepted and rejected this teaching. Thecontents of this teaching were really hard to people's mind. If someone wanted, let him alone come to eat body and drink blood of Jesus. How can there be asacred teaching to become a cannibal, a human eater? But this teaching is actuallyspiritual in its nature. Jesus wants to make Himself spiritual food and drink,in order to produce the spiritual growth of His followers, and finally bringthem arrive at a spiritual achievement, namely a communion with God. Thespiritual food and drink are the words of the Father, the teachings of JesusChrist, and the sacrifice the Lord Jesus must endure. We consume Jesus means weunderstand, believe, imitate, and live with Him. Our reading today from the Acts of theApostles describes a person who took the path to consume spiritual food anddrink was Saul. Even though he was a Jew with duty to destroy the Church whichhad begun to develop, God had chosen him to be His instrument. But before meetingall the goals he had intended to, God rebuked him. He then realized the evil thathe was doing and finally he repented. His life totally changed. Then he musteat the body and drink the blood of Christ, namely the words and life of Jesus. The Spirit of God entered into him and led him to the baptism and making him acompletely new person. His name now changed to be Paul and later became a verycharismatic and courageous apostle. These spiritual food and drink thenbecame the meal for many others later throughout the world. To become followersof Christ of today both as the body of the Church or the community of God'speople and as a personal testimony of Christian life, we need to acknowledgecontinously that the body and blood of Christ is the One who nourishes andsustains us. Just imagine, when you have not met the word of God for some time inthe celebration of the eucharist, you must have experienced a great loss andemptiness. This is a sign that the bread of life of Jesus Christ sustains andnourishes our faith.Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... O God Almighty, we give thanks to you for You are the real bread oflife for our spiritual growth and unity with You. May Your Spirit alwayssanctify us. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. In thename of the Father ...

By Jorge de Campos in Dallas, TX, Fort Worth, TX, Lawton, OK - November 6, 2024 - This study focus on the work of God's Holy Spirit in us. God's Holy Spirit is OUR HELPER TO HELP US GROW to the unity of the faith and to the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of Christ. When we are resurrected as Spirit Beings we are to be given such POWERS to guide, direct, and control, that we MUST FIRST BE TRAINED and have the PERFECT SPIRITUAL CHARACTER developed in us so that we may safely be entrusted with such vast powers! Just as the unborn, but begotten, human baby must GROW from its beginning size no larger than a pinpoint, fed on physical food, so once we are impregnated by God's HOLY SPIRIT – His LIFE – WE MUST GROW SPIRITUALLY, fed on the SPIRITUAL FOOD of God's Word, the Bible, and by prayer, and what fellowship is possible with truly begotten brethren in God's Truth. Baptism is only the first step in this growth process.

The disciples saw Jesus provide bread to thousands, so they came to him looking for more. While Jesus certainly provides for earthly needs, he also provides so much more. Jesus teaches his disciples and us what we should really be looking for when we come to him: The Bread of Life. That is what we get. Intro/Outro music: “Depth of Field” by David Hilowitz

John's Gospel still has a lot more to say about bread this week. More specifically, the "Bread of Life". Peter Walsh and John Kennedy lay out why Jesus' words are both profoundly simple and difficult to understand, how he brings a new development and consciousness for humanity, and what he offers for the spiritually hungry.Want to have your question or comment featured on the podcast? “Stagnation is not your destiny. Embracing spiritual growth can transform your life, elevating your self-worth and leading you to a higher spiritual plane. Being in this same position can make you stagnant and lower your self-worth, where you decline spiritually and not elevate. Know the difference and understand the designing plan God has for your life. He loves you, and He wants you to want more of Him and to do more for Him.” - S. F. Johnnie Do you feel like you need more? When I began to grow spiritually, I devoted time to reading my Bible. Still, I also desired fellowship, the opportunity to teach, share God's word, and testify. One thing I made sure of, which I want to share with you, is that I didn't settle because I didn't want to lose that feeling of being in God's presence. It is indescribable when God talks to you and shares His intimate details with you. Just the feeling alone of knowing He loves you to protect you and uplift you is awesome. This feeling makes you want to do everything for God at all times, but when a person feels like they are losing this feeling, they search for more and want to do more. Many people are experiencing this yarning feeling and need more within the church. Many churches worldwide are not living up to their potential in feeding the spirit, so I advise people to ask God to lead them to the right church where they will be educated and uplifted and grow spiritually, receiving the nourishment they need to thrive. This nourishment is spiritual food. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [a]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:16-17 Sign up for a session. http://seriouslyfocusedjohnnie.com/ ✓Get a copy of my download, Your Money Matters! https://seriouslyfocusedjohnnie.com/dowloads-%26-products/ols/products/your-money-matters ✓Store: https://teespring.com/stores/seriously-focused-johnnie ✓Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/s.f.johnnie/ ✓YouTube Seriously Focused Johnnie ✓For suggested topics, put in the subject box “Topic…,” and the email address is sfj.peace@gmail.com ✓My intended goal is to educate and bring people closer to God. What have you done to feed your spirit today? Jesus understood this truth—just like our bodies, our spirits need to be nurtured and fed. He talked about spiritual food when He said, in John 4 “I have a kind of food you know nothing about….My nourishment comes from doing the will of God...” The same is true for us. When we do God's will, we find meaning, purpose, and joy. When you read His word, truth takes root in your heart, like a seed… and as you mature through reading the Scriptures, hearing His Word will blossom into doing His Word! By filling your spirit with His word, you can begin to walk in every good promise of God's will. Is your spirit hungry right now? Fill it with the Word of God. radio.hopewithgod.com

Last week we mentioned our need of Jesus is our connection to Jesus and in this church, we focus on the need for healthy growth in every area of our lives Whatever way you've been led to deny some aspect of your flesh during this time of fasting, during this coming week let us remember the entire purpose of fasting is to devote time to prayer, meditation upon the Word, spending time with and growing closer to JesusWhile the children of Israel were wandering in the wilderness, all of their nourishment came from Christ...But they didn't know it. They didn't have spiritual eyes to see God's grace. It was Christ who kept them, nourished them and sustained them throughout their journeyIt's the same for us today. Healthy things grow, and the spiritual growth we are seeking will only come through a constant diet of Jesus, He alone is our spiritual food and spiritual drinkSupport the showThanks for joining us!
As the year comes to an end and we start thinking of how we will make positive changes in the new year, we thought this would be a good reminder...that your SPIRITUAL food can be junk food or healthy food....you just have to cultivate the right choice.

#146 - Spiritual Food - Mike Koehn
Food is a part of our daily life. In fact, we are often consumed by it, filling a constant void. But there is a hunger that comes from our spirit — and the only "food" to sustain it comes from heaven. Join us this workshop for a delicacy from John 6.

LONGEST LOCK-IN EVER Rust out or Burn out Funny story: Three years in a row we had the same event happen on one of our toughest annual youth road trips. Every year we took middle schoolers to the mountains in the winter time (most of those years we had a sleeper bus). The “Skittles Event” came out of one middle school boy on this trip 3 years in a row. You will have to listen to the this episode to know what happened. Noah longest lock-in ever! 120 years to build the Ark. Stayed on the boat for 150 days. He left the boat on the 27th day of the second month of Noah's 601st year of life. How do you like that for a fun boat trip? I found this article on my LINKEDIN account: “Burnout at work is a well-known problem. But a new opposite term has recently surfaced in wellbeing discussions: rust-out. Rust-out occurs when employees feel underutilized and under-stimulated in their jobs. Work seems monotonous and devoid of personally meaningful aspects, which can hurt performance and mental health. Gallup's global workplace report for 2022 found that only 21% of people feel engaged in their jobs. Europe was the region with the lowest percentage of engaged employees at 14%.” This came from an ER Doctor responding to the mentioned post above. I think leaders may help rust out by: 1. Setting challenging and meaningful goals. 2. Providing opportunities for learning and growth. 3. Offering job rotation or cross-training. 4. Recognizing and rewarding accomplishments. 5. Asking their team, "what are you interested in" and how can I help? The bottom line is that it is critical to create a culture of trust where leaders are asking the right questions and employees feel comfortable sharing their honest opinions. People who feel like they're rusting on the job can share with their managers, look for a new role, and re-inject enjoyable activities into their personal life. Bosses who spot rusty workers should help them speak up and co-develop a progression plan. My thoughts: This happens especially. If the staff, congregation, or whatever organization you are a part of, if they have not run you off in the first 1 to 2 years, then they may just let you run yourself in to the ground being satisfied with what they are getting out of you and giving you no room for growth or expansion. Especially if we are doing work on a God Size scale, we need God Size Rest. Like Jesus or the prophets of old. Rusting out may be better than burning out!? But Burning UP… while often reducing stress and taking breaks like Jesus did is better, because Burning Up includes, Rest, Fuel, Encouragement, Fresh Ideas, Spiritual Food, Physical Food, Mental Renewal, and Creativity… Plus, Plus!!! God gives us no more than we can endure if we're following him and depending on him. That's why Matthew 11:28-30 is some of my favorite verses. (Matthew 11:28–30 NLT) - Jesus said, “Come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart and you will find rest for your souls, for my yoke is easy my burden is light...” And yoke meaning that thing that's around an oxen or animals neck. It helps pull whatever load it is. So get His yoke, the thing that's going to make your burdens easier, because it's when it's Him it's light and it is easy. I found my way is complex and hard. What about you? Are you frustrated doing things your way instead of getting God's game plan? _______________________________ Looking for a new student ministry resource?
