As trade talks around the league heat up, Steph and Wayne look at the most plausible options for the 49ers based on fit and what Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch are saying
The 49ers' health woes continued after San Francisco lost superstar linebacker Fred Warner to a season-ending ankle injury in Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. San Francisco responded valiantly, managing to stay competitive throughout the matchup before fading late in the fourth quarter. On this episode of '49ers Talk,' co-hosts Matt Maiocco and Jennifer Lee Chan discuss the potential ramifications of Warner's season-ending injury. They then detail Warner's impact on the 49ers organization from ownership to players and how San Francisco will feel his loss both on and off the field. Florida State Seminoles fans, here's the lineup for the three segments from today's Locked On Seminoles podcast: Up first is Florida State running back verbal commitment Micahi Danzy. Tallahassee (Fla.) Florida State University prospect is a special young man on the field, and off of it as well. Yes, he plays at the high school directly built in conjunction with Florida State University itself. He does a great job representing himself and those around him as well. **Tremendous speed. He told me he ran a 45.99 in the 400. Seeing him move at practice, it's no wonder that Danzy had a bevy of scholarship offers. Danzy chose the Seminoles over the Gators. **He's also a great young man and one that's articulate and thoughtful. He's going to represent FSU well when he's not on the gridiron either. Second segment: FSU running back Trey Benson. **Is he going to impact the game as a blocker, runner and receiver? If he can get going in the running game, make a few plays, that opens the passing game for Jordan Travis. **Additionally, Benson could be called upon to make some plays out of the backfield. If he gets matched up with LSU linebacker Harold Perkins, that's going to be a blast to watch! Third segment: Seminoles linebackers need to make at least one big play during the early portion of the contest. **Could be creating a fumble, a short-yardage stop, or perhaps picking off a Jayden Daniels pass. **FSU gaining a potential momentum shift from a linebacker like Tatum Bethune could be the difference in the final outcome between the Seminoles and Tigers. He does a great job representing himself and those around him as well.**Tremendous speed. He told me he ran a 45.99 in the 400. Seeing him move at practice, it's no wonder that Danzy had a bevy of scholarship offers. Danzy chose the Seminoles over the Gators.**He's also a great young man and one that's articulate and thoughtful. He's going to represent FSU well when he's not on the gridiron either.Second segment: FSU running back Trey Benson. **Is he going to impact the game as a blocker, runner and receiver? If he can get going in the running game, make a few plays, that opens the passing game for Jordan Travis.**Additionally, Benson could be called upon to make some plays out of the backfield. (Due to a technical error, this episode was supposed to post last week but it's coming out a week late.) Mycah Pittman will be sidelined for the Seminoles for at least the next 4 to 6 months after having hip surgery. The Florida State football team has already seen someone take the lead as a possible replacement in the slot and at punt returner. Winston Wright Jr. has been taking a lot of reps in the slot according to our sources at Spring Camp and we are encouraged that FSU's depth may allow them to not miss a beat. Mike Norvell and Jordan Travis' offense shouldn't really see any drop off through the Spring and Fall. Hopefully Pittman can return through the season and contribute to a special year that the Noles should have in 2023. We are hearing very positive things about Darrel Jackson and Joshua Farmer. They've been described as UNBLOCKABLE for the Noles. Tatum Bethune and Hykeem Williams have also made some great plays and we've got some insight on how a backup QB has looked during Spring as well. A FIVE Star Recruit has everyone surprised after he revealed something SURPRISING at Florida State University this weekend. After meeting with National Championship winning QB, Jameis Winston, he told the media something nobody expected. We also shared some insight on when we might expect a commitment from 5 Star Defensive Back Charles Lester III. 5 Star Running back Target Kam Davis sounds like he could be shutting down his recruitment soon as well. The Seminole commit is currently the highest rated player in FSU's recruiting class. Mike Norvell and FSU are building something special in this class and we're going to continue to cover all FSU Football news related to recruiting, spring practice and more. Insight on another possible injury over on our discord. Sign up for access here: https://patreon.com/dfns Support our friends over at https://thegramco.com! TJ25 for 25% off! Welcome back to another episode of Locked on Seminoles! Drake and Dave continue the way-too-early position previews: this time with the much-improved linebackers! Tatum Bethune transferred to Florida State from UCF and instantly solidified the Seminoles' linebacking corps which, for the first time in several seasons, was generally not a liability for the defense. Kalen Deloach thrust himself into household name status, and potential into a high-level NFL Draft pick, with a series of impressive performances and games in 2022, and yet has significant room to grow. DJ Lundy was, to the likely surprise of many, FSU's highest-graded linebacker on the 2022 season, flourishing under the tutelage of new linebackers coach Randy Shannon. And Brendan Gant showed great potential in his first year at linebacker after changing positions from his traditional safety spot. As a result, expectations are relatively high for the linebackers in 2023, and the solidity of their play could be a key to the Seminoles' defensive success and path to a conference title and playoff run. With that in mind, Drake and Dave assess the expectations and performance of the linebacking unit in 2022, how they expect the Seminoles' linebackers to perform in 2023, and end with a talk about scheme and how FSU's linebackers can become better than good. Welcome back to another episode of Locked on Seminoles, your favorite daily Florida State Seminoles sports podcast! Drake and Dave begin the way-too-early talk with a game-by-game mini-preview of each game, to arrive at a season win total (hint: we're talking playoffs)! With a 10-win season under their belt, a boatload of elite talent returning—including a Heisman-contender at QB with Jordan Travis, an elite RB in Trey Benson, a stable of proven playmakers at WR, an improved and still improving offensive line, a defensive line anchored by veteran leaders in Jared Verse and Fabian Lovett, a vastly improved LB corps with Tatum Bethune and Kalen Deloach, and a DB room filled with talent and now under the tutelage of coach Pat Surtain—and a bounty of additional elite talent pouring in through the transfer portal, the 2023 season appears poised to be a win-now, money-year for Florida State football. With a real chance to regain the ACC crown and make their second appearance in the College Football Playoff in 2023, the Seminoles' season will of course come down to how well they can navigate their schedule. So that's exactly what Drake and Dave do in today's episode, briefly previewing and predicting a win or loss for each game on the schedule. While there will certainly be some tough games, tune in to find out why 2023 sets up quite well for a Florida State playoff run!
