Mike Pereira, former VP of Officials and Rules Analyst at Fox, joined The Drive to discuss the calls in the Chiefs game that have people angry.
What better episode to bring back than Mike Pereira now that we're deep into the football season and he's now actually in the booth with the very Tom Brady he references in this episode from earlier this year. Enjoy. When Mike Pereira steps into a room—or onto a field—stories and wisdom seem to follow him like a shadow on a sunny day. In our latest episode, this Stockton native, who's traversed an incredible path from NFL official to Fox Sports commentator, doesn't just share his journey; he lets us in on the intimate pivots and touchdowns of a life dedicated to the love of the game. As he discusses the warm camaraderie of his broadcasting team and his recovery from back surgery, you'll feel the strength of the sports community and the genuine excitement for what the future holds, including working with famed quarterback Tom Brady. Discovering one's passion can often come from the most unexpected of places, and for Mike, it was the reluctant step into his father's officiating shoes that revealed his true calling. This episode reveals Mike's early reluctance, the transformative power of taking that first whistle, and the ripple effect that passion can have across a lifetime. His candid recounting of financial struggles and serendipitous opportunities serves as a reminder that sometimes our greatest achievements are waiting just beyond the horizon of our comfort zones. Lastly, Mike's legacy, which stretches far beyond the end zones and playbooks is Battlefields to Ballfields. A testament to his commitment to giving back, providing veterans with a renewed sense of community through the world of sports officiating. Mike's dedication to honoring service members and supporting them in their transition to civilian life is as moving as it is impactful, demonstrating that the true measure of a person's career is not in the titles they've held, but in the lives they've touched. This is surely one uncommon trajectory to the highest and most respected commentary on the game in play when it comes to the rules and the on-field calls. Did the Seahawks get lucky in the 49ers game? How much can one win tell us? Also, how are we going to survive the 'bomb cyclone' heading our way. Jon Ryan, Former Seahawk joins Ian to give some insight on how much one win, especially the last one against the 49ers. He tells us what it means, not only for the team, but for Geno Smith himself. A surprise retirement, what he misses after his career and a fun Marshawn Lynch memory. The Dumbest Thing You'll Hear Today! We take a listen to what's wrong with college football. Indiana deserves credit for winning. Jake Dickert is not a fan of the Beavers being Washington State's 'buddies'. They're rivals right now, and the next opponent on the schedule. Also, we listen into Mike Pereira discussing what exactly happened during the final minutes of Seattle's win over the Niners - did the Seahawks get lucky with the timeout? Jayson Stark, The Athletic joins us to talk about the latest MLB HOF ballot. Will Ichiro be the first unanimous position player voted in? Jayson sees no reason to NOT vote for him, but it's impossible to know what all voters will think. If not, it would be more due to the depth of the class than to him. He discusses the flaws in the ballot system and finally touches on Felix and whether or not he's a Hall of Famer. The Daily Power Play! The Cougar Roundtable! Alex Brink and Mkristo Bruce join us to give some insight on the Cougars loss to New Mexico. What happened? We take a dive into the meaning of the loss and what the rest of the season looks like with just two games left. Also, does anyone take issue with what Jake Dickert had to say about the rivalry between WSU and Oregon State?

On Saturday, the New York Times published an article on Saturday's episode of “Saturday Night Live,” featuring comedian Dave Chappelle. The article covered Chappelle's comedic monologue on Kyrie Irving, Kanye West, and Donald Trump. What the NYT missed was the fact that it was supposed to be truthful and funny. It claimed the comedian “mocks Kanye and Kyrie.” This may be confusing for anybody who actually saw the episode, so “Fearless” contributor Shemeka Michelle and I break down Chappelle's jokes to determine if he's a friend or foe to the canceled icons. The “Shemoke Show” also helps me make sense of a bizarre “it's going down” moment caught on TV by Mike Pereira, an NFL rule analyst. Bill Cowher of CBS Sports' “NFL Today” — a sports analyst, former football player, and coach — recently gave his take on the Indianapolis Colts' decision to make Jeff Saturday the interim head coach, calling it a “disgrace.” Is this a fair assessment? After all, Saturday and Indianapolis just had their first victory together against the Las Vegas Raiders. “Fearless” soldier Steve Kim and I break this down. Coach Jason Brown of “Last Chance U” meets “Fearless” at the golf course in Las Vegas after watching the Raiders vs. the Colts. He tells us his Vegas highlights, including his take on why the Raiders are struggling. “Let me tell you, watching Derek Carr up close is even more proof that he is god-awful, and the Raiders' sole issue is Derek Carr.” We want to hear from the Fearless Army!!
