Chronic disease expenses, pricey weight-loss drugs, and hospital markups are driving premiums through the roof—while early retirees complain their ACA plans cost more than a cruise. Chris rails against the hypocrisy of both parties: Democrats admit Obamacare's failures yet double down on subsidies, and Republicans sit idle despite a golden chance to scrap the system. In today's Daily Fix:Microsoft is saying the controversial price of the ROG Xbox Ally X wasn't set by them, but rather hardware maker ASUS. The Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X are $599 and $999 respectively, and feature Xbox-themed UI and connect to the users' Xbox accounts, but are technically ASUS products under the ROG brand. Despite the price, Microsoft claims the devices have sold out on the Xbox store and other retailers, and the critical response has been overall positive, despite the steep price. In other news, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3's co-director is saying that the game's combat system is not yet decided, despite calls for the series to return to turn-based roots. This comes after the surprise success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which features many game mechanics popularized by JRPGs like classic FF titles. And finally, a leak about more Resident Evil remakes may prove to be real, with reports saying Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica are next on Capcom's to-do list.

The cost of a school evaluation might be zero, but what about the years that follow? Are you prepared for the financial reality of raising a dyslexic child? Plus, you'll learn why the cost actually increases as your child gets older, and you'll hear the strategy successful families use to "spend smart," maximize school services, and find hidden scholarships to get their kids the help they need without going broke in the process. Topics Covered: How the real financial journey of raising a dyslexic child begins after the "free" school evaluation and some of the costs that can quickly pile up [1:00] Why middle-class families are often hit the hardest and the way in which they can often fall into a gap that exists [3:40] What the significant long-term costs of delaying intervention are [4:20] How to get a better return on your investment by learning to "spend smart" [4:50] How financial relief can be obtained through certain programs and the importance of having an actual financial plan throughout this process [5:34] Key Takeaways Financial burdens for dyslexic support tend to increase as a child moves into middle school and high school. The guilt of choosing between a child's essential dyslexia intervention and normal family expenses is a significant, hidden emotional and financial cost for many parents. The most successful families don't spend the most, they "spend smart" by learning to strategically use school services to reduce the need for private, out-of-pocket expenses. News and Updates: In 2025, “computer literacy” means more than navigating systems — it's about collaborating with AI, exercising critical thinking, and adapting to rapid change. While most job postings still only ask for basic skills, AI fluency is emerging as the new digital divide. Experts warn that overreliance on tools like ChatGPT risks eroding foundational skills, but argue AI can strengthen capability when paired with judgment and training. Continuous upskilling is now seen as essential for career resilience. The UK government is consulting on legislation to ban ransomware payments by the public sector and critical national infrastructure, alongside mandatory reporting for other organizations. The goal is to disrupt cybercriminals' business model and improve intelligence sharing. While 72% of respondents back the ban, experts warn it could push attacks toward private firms, raise remediation costs, and leave public bodies vulnerable unless security investments increase. Wealthy and high-profile individuals are turning to “cybersecurity concierges” — digital bodyguards offering tailored protection against hacking, identity theft, and reputational risk. Services range from $1,000 to $50,000+ per year and often include data scrubbing, dark-web monitoring, and personalized cyber hygiene plans. While some argue similar protection can be achieved with off-the-shelf tools, demand is rising as clients seek peace of mind and 24/7 access to experts. Enterprises clinging to Windows 10 face steep costs as Microsoft phases out support. Nexthink research shows extended support could exceed $7.3 billion globally, with fees starting at $61 per device in year one and doubling annually. Despite a 33% drop in Windows 10 usage this summer, 121 million devices may still run it after the October 14 cutoff. Analysts warn delays heighten security risks and create fragmented employee experiences, urging businesses to accelerate upgrades.

They revisit Andrés Giménez's contract, an unforgotten horror, and whether moving him to shortstop in Bo Bichette's absence makes sense. After the break, Sportsnet's Jason Bukala (23:00) joins to discuss Kirill Kaprizov's contract negotiations, what could become of the Minnesota Wild without him, and how the size of his next deal could reset the market. He also weighs in on whether a Sidney Crosby sweepstakes might actually materialize, and closes by discussing the scenarios surrounding Quinn Hughes in Vancouver. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.

Rory speaks with Bloomberg expert Brett Gibbs about the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and its profound impact across energy, agriculture, and gasoline prices. Brett highlights the market's policy-driven nature, contrasting stable ethanol volumes with the rapid, four-fold growth of renewable diesel, which now significantly displaces petroleum diesel. A key distinction is renewable diesel's chemical identity to petroleum diesel, allowing one-for-one substitution and no blend limits, unlike biodiesel. However, renewable diesel production remains uneconomic without crucial policy support like RFS RINs and tax credits, as feedstock costs (e.g., soybean oil at $4/gallon) vastly exceed petroleum diesel prices ($2.33/gallon). The conversation delves into the RFS's complex credit system and recent policy shifts favoring domestic feedstocks, such as the removal of indirect land use change penalties on US soybean oil, boosting its tax credit value. While roughly 50% of feedstocks are waste-based, scaling these is challenging, leading to reliance on virgin oils like soybean oil, which accounts for up to 50% of US soybean oil production now. Looking ahead, the US biofuel industry is expected to see a plateau in growth, with the administration aiming for stable 80% utilization to balance agricultural support with consumer fuel costs, while buying time for new technologies. Key indicators for tracking the market include the D4 RIN price and soybean oil prices
Send us a textPricing might be the most powerful yet underutilized profit lever in your business toolkit. In this eye-opening conversation with Per Sjöfors, "The Price Whisperer," we uncover why most businesses leave substantial money on the table through ineffective pricing strategies.Per reveals the shocking mathematics behind pricing power: while a 1% increase in sales volume typically yields a 3.5% profit increase, and a 1% cost reduction generates about 5.5% more profit, a mere 1% price increase can boost profitability by a staggering 11.3%. Despite this leverage, most companies rely on guesswork, cost-plus formulas, or competitor matching—approaches that severely limit profit potential.Drawing from his experience running multiple companies and conducting pricing research across approximately 5,000 products and services, Per debunks common pricing myths and introduces a scientific approach anyone can implement. He shares a practical method for solopreneurs and small businesses to determine their optimal price range: interview at least 25 prospects and ask two specific questions about price thresholds. This approach works equally well across B2B and B2C contexts because pricing psychology follows similar patterns regardless of market type. The conversation also explores behavioral economics principles showing why pricing too low can actually decrease sales by creating perceptions of poor quality. Even retail giants like Walmart have shifted away from purely price-focused messaging after seeing declining sales when customers associated low prices with inferior products.Whether you're a podcaster monetizing your platform, a consultant valuing your expertise, or a business owner setting product prices, this episode provides actionable insights to transform your pricing strategy and significantly boost your profitability. As Per reminds us in his parting wisdom: "You can always increase prices. If it doesn't work, you can always revert."Support the showGot a question about something you heard today? Send us a textSaying yes feels generous, positive, and full of possibility — but every yes comes with a price tag. In this episode of The Workplace Chameleon, Dr. Celina Peerman explores the hidden costs of commitment and why intentional leaders pause to check the tag before swiping yes. She unpacks the three main currencies you spend with every agreement — time, energy, and focus — along with the fine print most people forget: opportunity cost. You'll hear why approval-seeking, fear of missing out, and “ten-minute favors” often lead us into bargain-bin yeses that turn out to be far more expensive than expected. With practical tools like the Alignment Check, Bandwidth Check, Trade Test, and Timing Question, Dr. Celina shows how to price-check your commitments and model a healthier culture where smart no's and well-timed yeses are valued equally. This week's challenge: before your next yes, pause to read the tag, consider the trade, and decide if it's worth the investment. Because strong leaders don't buy every yes in sight — they invest in the ones that matter most. For more leadership tools and resources, visit www.drcelinapeerman.com.
