We are back after a couple of weeks away, and the MCU is back after a couple of months off. Actually, a lot of people think the MCU has been "off" since "Endgame", but is that true? Also, is this movie the solution to whatever is ailing the franchise? We do a deep dive this week into the comic book origins, alternative character arcs and generally everything Marvel related. Oh, we also talk about the "Thunderbolts*", a film that seems to be generating goodwill around the interwebs, but how do we feel about it? Jeffrey Lyles, Matthew Simpson, Rachel Wagner and Todd Liebenow jump on board for a spirited discussion of the newest in the MCU. "We Own You Now."
Jay is joined by Todd Liebenow (@forgottenfilmz) to start covering another franchise featuring genetically mutated aquatic animals on a murderous rampage, Joe Dante's Piranha! On this episode they discuss fish puppetry, shaky splashy deaths, and weird eating noises!
Episode Notes Rob is rejoined by Todd Liebenow of The Forgotten Filmcast as Michaelson explains where James Francis Ryan might be.
It's an hour of soundtrack music chosen by Forgotten Filmcast host Todd Liebenow from movies that may have fell off your radar over the years!Featuring music from Summer School, Three O'Clock High, Follow That Bird and much more!We also play a song from the soundtrack of 1977's One on One, the basketball film starring Robby Benson and Annette O'Toole, which was the film I was lucky enough to talk about on last week's episode! Setlists available at mondohollywood.ca
By an overwhelming vote, Josie and the Pussycats was chosen as the MOTM for November. This widely misunderstood 2001 release has acquired a much stronger reputation over the pat two decades. The satirical edge of the movie and it's meta-approach was largely ignored in the marketing of the film on it's release. Our herd of LAMBs this week however have made note of it's wicked insight into pop culture and music and we have some pretty strong positive opinions to share. Todd Liebenow, Bubbawheat and the Vern join the show and "Pretend to be Nice". For us the three small words are "This Movie's Great".
It's spooky season on the Lambcast, Halloween is coming and horror films are everywhere. We got a request a few weeks ago for a show that focuses on earlier horror films so it seemed like the right time for another draft episode. This week we have some incredibly strange creatures who stopped living and became mixed up movie bloggers. There are a few reasons that we limited the entries to this time period. First, that was the suggestion from a listener that prompted the episode to begin with. A second reason is that I am looking for films that don't always get covered during the season. Let's try to broaden our tastes. Another reason is that 1973 marked a transition in horror films with “The Exorcist” breaking out of the horror ghetto and becoming a mainstream success. And finally, this limitation means that I don't have to engage one more time in an argument over whether or not “Jaws” is a Horror film. Aaron Neuwirth, Howard Casner, David Brook, Dave Anderson, and Todd Liebenow enjoy a "spirited" competition over their favorite older horror movies. Frankly, it is horrifying when the film you want is chosen right before your turn, listen to Howard scream repeatedly if you want proof.
The Out Now with Aaron and Abe horror specials for 2024 continues with thoughts on films that turned out way different than we may have initially expected. The Brandon Peters Show's Brandon Peters and The Forgotten Filmcast's Todd Liebenow join Aaron and Abe to go over their picks for films they felt misled by based on the posters, VHS covers, or ads. Listen in to enjoy hearing about a series of movies this group has various recollections of based on how they perceived a film to be based on the expectations of their younger minds, let alone others where the circumstances basically amounted to lying to the viewer before seeing what the movie is actually about. It's all in good fun and features plenty of enjoyable memories and horror trivia. This week is a do it yourself show. The five Lambs have assembled individual lists of movie related subjects and we share them in a Top Five Round Robin. Thomas Stoneham Judge is TIFF bound so his list features Audience favorites over the years. Howard Casner answers the question Tubi or not Tubi. Tony Coogan is not satisfied with a movie, he wants to see it on stage as well. Todd Liebenow is stuck in the 80s, but at least he has the Mall to hang out in. Finally, Richard is trying to score some tickets to the latest concert by a whole set of acts, but is having trouble finding their tour schedules.
Episode Notes Simon is surprised by John as Todd Liebenow of The Forgotten Filmcast and Rob get a graphic description of what McClane plans to do to Simon.
Episode Notes As the cops converge on Chester A. Arthur School, Todd Liebenow of The Forgotten Filmcast is back with Rob as the fruits and vegetables go flying.
Six Lambs enter, One Lamb Leaves, at least if the community votes. This is a draft show with six slates of films, competing for your approval. Damien Riley, Aaron Neuwirth, Todd Liebenow, The Vern, Howard Casner and Richard Kirkham, struggle to choose from all the 1984 films available, to come up with a winning team. Do they choose films they love, or will they choose films they think you will love? Listen and find out if your favorites are selected and if so by who. Be sure to go to the LAMB site and vote on the poll for the winner. Voting will remain open through the end of August.
Nostalgia for 1984 runs rampant in this week's episode as we check in on "The Last Starfighter". Matthew Simpson hosts the conversation as the champion of the film, but Richard and Todd Liebenow are right there with him as we trapse down memory lane. Tony Coogan provides a perspective on the film from a first time watcher just a few weeks ago. So join us as we tout 80s Digital effects, heartwarming story elements and the great contributions of two film veterans to a teen Sci-Fi film from one of the great years in movies.

POP ART SAYS: JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOU'RE OUT–Episode 115, The Fantastic Mr. Fox/Straight Time “Because I'm going to get caught”. For this episode, I and Todd Liebenow of Forgotten Filmcast, had a great time discussing two films in which ex-cons try to go the straight and narrow…or do they? We especially had a great discussion on such topics as movies about ex-cons; how attitudes town ex-cons has changed over the movie years; existentialism; the female characters and how they are portrayed. I highly recommend checking out Todd's Forgotten Filmcast, https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/forgottenfilmcast always a good discussion on overlooked or forgotten films. “Most human problems can be solved with an appropriate charge of high explosive”During the 1980s, it seemed as if Hollywood sent every one of its action stars on unsanctioned missions to Vietnam to rescue American POWs. But before Chuck Norris and Sylvester Stallone got in on the MIA rescuing act, it was the more unlikely figure of Gene Hackman who first went in to get ‘our boys' back. So, on this show, we're looking at the film that kicked off an entire sub-genre of the Eighties Namsploitation movie boom, UNCOMMON VALOR (1983).We're joined by Todd Liebenow from the Forgotten Filmcast to discuss Nam movie tropes, the film's wildly eclectic cast, and whether America got to win this time.Show notesDirector: Ted KotcheffCast: Gene Hackan, Patrick Swayze, Randall ‘Tex' Cobb, Fred Ward, Reb Brown, Robert Stack, Tim Thomerson, Harold SylvesterPlot: Ten years after his son went M.I.A. in Vietnam, U.S. Marine retired Colonel Jason Rhodes assembles a private rescue team to find Americans held in P.O.W. camps in Laos.Episode 146.Follow Exploding HelicopterTwitter: @chopperfireballWebsite: explodinghelicopter.comInstagram: explodinghelicopter
The show goes on without the regular host, but with reliable guest host Howard Casner, herding the Lambs through a discussion of 1967, in films and the industry. Aaron Neuwirth, David Brook and Todd Liebenow share a lot of movies that came out in 1967, few of which would have been coming to your mind when you first heard the year to be covered. Drive-In fare, Spaghetti Westerns, and French films fill the episode. So maybe "The Graduate" didn't make anyone's list, there are still a couple you will recognize, and a bunch you will now want to see. Surprisingly, Richard gets some films on the list even with being absent.
This week, the Lambcast tries trapping a new movie in our containment vault, the fifth film in the Ghostbusters Franchise (although some acknowledge only 4), "Frozen Empire". The new cast of Ghostbusters from "Afterlife" return to NYC and take up the family business. The Legacy Cast shows up in a variety of spots to check all the boxes, and having insured a PG-13 rating, we get a Supernatural Adventure film, which may be straying a bit from the roots of the franchise. Does it work, should you spend your money to see it, will you laugh? You will just have to listen to Matt Hudson, Lisa Leaheey and Todd Liebenow to find out.

Martin Scorsese's Dark Comedy from 1983 was selected by the community after a close contest with the Cohen Brothers movie on the list. We talk Blindspots, performances, social implications and DeNiro, a lot. Todd Liebenow, Matthew Simpson and Nick Rehak have lots to say about this Scorsese flop that as acquired a patina of respect over the years. We also play a fast game of Lambpardy and discuss DeNiro and Scorsese apart from one another.

The frigid weather seems to have kept most of the sheep in their mangers this week, but Todd Liebenow came out to the pasture to play with us. So we end up with two guys over Fifty, talking about a movie that is targeted to Girls under 20. Not to worry, also opening this week was a film targeting Guys and probably even older audiences, so it all balances out. "Mean Girls 2024" gets its musical bona fides checked and Jason Statham continues to cut through bad guys like John Wick looking for a new dog. A brief show this week, but fun to listen to.

Through dangers untold. And hardships unnumbered. I have fought my way here to the castle; beyond the goblin city, to take back the child that you have stolen. My will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom as great…The gallant Lambs this week take on Nostalgia for the ages, or at least for a long ago decade. Oh, Mother Night! Fold your dark arms about me. Jeanette Ward, Bubbawhwet and Todd Liebenow join Richard for a fun packed show with a poll at the end for you to vote on. So in revisiting 2013, some of us might have had a theme, some may just have picked randomly but in sharing our lists there is a pattern. Round Robin with the Pineapple Kiosk Rule in place. David Brook, Todd Liebenow, and Howard Casner join the show and they have that 20/20 vision that hindsight usually provides. If ten years ago is just your ticket, you might be surprised at the films this weeks guests came up with. Also, the Exit Question this week provokes a few rants.
For as long as there has been a Lambcast, there have been games played on the show. Sometimes the game is skipped because of time or some other reason, but that will not be the case on this week's show. This episode is all games all the time. There are Five intriguing and fun games that you can play along with, there is even a game in deciding the order of the games and finally, the exit question of the week keeps the theme going. So put on your Movie Thinking Caps, and lets get ready to Rumble as Todd Liebenow hosts this episode of a new format to add to the Lambcast shows.

This week we go Back to the Future, it's 1985 and there are films you may not have heard about, seen, or caught up with yet. Marty and Doc Brown don't make it to the show but Dave Anderson, David Brook, Howard Casner and Todd Liebenow do. We have Hong Kong Action Films, Forgotten Films, and Spielberg Clones to fill your Television Screen with. If you like Zombies, Kung Fu, Depressing WWII stories and Geriatric Science Fiction, this is a show you won't want to miss.
Four Lambs enter, one Lamb leaves, that is after you vote for the Summer Season that you think is the Greatest. Dave Anderson leads off with what could be a knockout punch, but Todd Liebenow follows up with a strong right cross and Nick Rehak has a solid uppercut. Richard Jabs and moves but has a good combination to finish off. You are the judges. Come listen to us talk about the summer films of 1975, 1984, 1987 and 2008. There are some great films and a couple that should result in a TKO or a disqualification for hitting below the belt. Get your scorecards ready and then vote on the Lamb Site.
All of us have those films in our back pocket that we have been meaning to get to. Sometimes it is a documentary that the whole world is talking about but you haven't been able to generate enough interest to stream it. Maybe it is a film from the Sight and Sound Poll, AFI or BFI film lists, or maybe just something everyone has talked about, except you, because you haven't seen it. This week, Nicole Ayers, Howard Casner, David Brook, Todd Liebenow and the Vern join the show to share their blind spots. We also take our blindfolds off for one film before we finish. And we decide that maybe we should have kept them on for something else. Come listen in and find out where everyone needs to expand their horizons.

POP ART, WHERE WE FIND THE POP CULTURE IN ART AND THE ART IN POP CULTURE. FILM FLAM: Join me and my guest, podcaster and film enthusiast Todd Liebenow, of the Forgotten Filmcast, as we talk Ed Wood/Sullivan's Travels, two films about filmmakers trying to get their films made. “But with a little sex”: Don't you hate it when this happens. You have an artistic vision. But no one else sees it. No one else will finance it. They call you crazy, a crackpot, or the worst insult possible—uncommercial. What do you do…Sounds like it's time for Episode 92 of Pop Art, where we find the pop culture in art and the art in pop culture. It's the podcast where my guest chooses a movie from popular culture, and I'll select a film from the more art/classic/indie side of cinema with a connection to it. This time, I am happy to welcome back as my guest, film enthusiast and podcaster, Todd Liebenow, who has chosen as his film Tim Burton's comedy biopic, Ed Wood, while I have chosen the Preston Sturges farce, Sullivan's Travels, both films about filmmakers trying to make movies that reflect their vision. And in this episode, we answer such questions as: What was inaccurate about the portrayal of Bela Lugosi in Ed Wood? Why did the NAACP write a letter to Preston Sturges after seeing Sullivan's Travels? What is postmodern about both Ed Wood and Sullivan's Travels? What did Raymond Chandler call Veronica Lake? Why was Ed Wood's girlfriend the most successful of Wood's entourage? Why is Preston Sturges so important in the history of screenwriting? What actors from Plan 9 From Outer Space appear in Ed Wood? Why is the cinematographer of Sullivan's Travels so important in film history? This is the sixth Decade Lookback Episode we have done, and let's just say it, 1973 cleans every other years clock so far. There is such a plethora of great films that "The Sting", "American Graffiti" , ""Save the Tiger", "Scarecrow", "Serpico", "The Last Detail" did not make the top five list of anybody on the show. It is such a great diverse year, that there was only one "Pineapple Kiosk" in the twenty five films that were discussed. And with Howard Casner and David Brook on the show, we got more non English language films than you can shake a stick at. It may take years for us to find as many films for a single show that people were passionate about. Dave Anderson and Todd Liebenow tried to keep Richard honest, but let's just say enthusiasm was everywhere. You should come and get some rubbed off on you.

On Pop Art, my guest chooses a movie from popular culture, and I'll select a film from the more art/classic/indie side of cinema with a connection to it. This time, I am happy to welcome back as my guest film enthusiast and fellow podcaster Todd Liebenow, who has chosen as his selection the epic 1990s version of Wyatt Earp, the widescreen Tombstone, while I have chosen the John Ford classic, My Darling Clementine, both about the mythical figure of the Earp brothers and the gunfight at the OK Corral. And in this episode, we'll ask the questions: Where did the gunfight at the OK Corral take place? What is it about westerns, anyway? Who directed Tombstone? Are you sure? Whose favorite movie is My Darling Clementine? Who is Kevin Jarre's famous step-father? What did director John Ford think of My Darling Clementine? Who does the term “cowboy” refer to? What is a Mae Marsh and would you want to be one? Why does Robert Mitchum do the voiceover? “Wax on, wax off. Wax on, Wax off.” Feeling the world is ganging up on you? Feeling targeted in some way? Even bullied by those around you? Who would you rather have on your side? Mr. Miyagi or Eli? The perfect time for Episode 18 of Pop Art, the podcast where my guest chooses a movie from popular culture and I select a film from the more art/classic side of cinema with a connection to it. This time, my guest, film enthusiast and podcaster, Todd Liebenow (of The Forgotten Film and Walt Sent Me Podcasts) chose the Ralph Macchio/Pat Morita iconic coming of age martial arts classic, The Karate Kid, and I chose Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson’s moody, atmospheric new take on vampire films, Let The Right One In, both about bullying. And here we answer such questions as: How can you combine getting free labor while training someone for martial arts; who was the original choice for Mr. Miyagi; where the heck are the adults, for God’s sake; what does Let the Right One In bring to the vampire genre; what happens when you don’t invite a vampire in and they come in; and how are the issues of bullying dealt with and resolved in each movie, if they are indeed. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/howard-casner/support
This month’s Out Now with Aaron and Abe commentary track is on the way, sooner or later. Aaron is joined by Brandon Peters, Scott Mendelson, Todd Liebenow, and Yancy Berns to discuss Dick Tracy, the Warren Beatty passion project serving as a highly stylized comic book vision, featuring top talent across the board. Listen in to hear the group go over their thoughts on the film, the strength of Beatty and his cast, the wild choices made using practical effects, matte paintings, and other techniques, and more. There’s also plenty of discussion revolving around the impact of the film, what separated it from Batman, and other comic book/superhero films, and lots of fun tangents as well.
