Adam Marcus is the director of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993). A brand-new documentary on the film, Hearts of Darkness: The Making of the Final Friday (2025) dives into the fandom of the controversial ninth installment in the Friday the 13th franchise. Adam co-wrote Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013) with his wife Debra Sullivan and Kirsten Elms, which went to #1 at the box office, beating Django: Unchained (2013). He also directed and co-wrote Secret Santa (2018), a hilarious and bloody story about a family on the verge of destruction. When Adam was 11, he worked as a production assistant on Friday the 13th (1980). At age 13, he was an editing apprentice on the raunchy sex comedy, Spring Break (1983). When he turned 15, he started operating his own theater company in Connecticut, putting on productions that he directed & produced himself. After taking film courses at NYU and being given advanced credit, Adam moved to Los Angeles to work on feature films. He co-produced My Boyfriend's Back (1993) and then upon successfully completing a directors test with New Line Cinema, was handed the keys to one of the biggest franchises in horror history. On May 20th, Arrow Video will be releasing a brand new 4K transfer of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) featuring a plethora of special features and a brand new audio commentary with Steve "Uncle Creepy" Barton and Michael Felsher.

Nammis! Följ oss på Instagram! Evil has finally found a home. The year is 1993. The Friday the 13th series has been dormant for four long years. Paramount is out. New Line Cinema is in. What does this maverick film studio responsible for bringing us the likes of Freddy Krueger have planned for one of the most popular cinema icons of the 1980s? Well, I'll tell ya…...demon worms and Hell, babyyyy! Bring on the Fan-Fictioney nonsense!!! I'm your host, Dave, and joining me as we gulp down some demon worms are fellow cinephiles and hellspawn Mike, Jackie, Ryan, and Nick “Immortan Hoof”. Topics of discussion in this episode include more false advertising as to the final-ness of Jason's demise; we ponder the convoluted details of the sting operation set up by Crystal Lake's SWAT department; and finally, I guess Jason is into BDSM now…? Sure, why not? Be sure to rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. You can also Follow Us on Twitter, Like Us on Facebook, or shoot us an email at apocalypsevideopod@gmail.com. What are your thoughts on Jason Goes to Hell? Was this a low point in the franchise or a shot of black goo that the series needed? Let us know, we wanna hear from ya. That'll do it for this obligatory installment of our ongoing Friday the 13th series. Join us next time as we watch from ringside as two horror icons go head to head in the fight of the century with Freddy vs. Jason. Whoever wins…we lose.

This week on the Geek Garage podcast, we dive into the most outrageous and divisive entries in the Friday the 13th franchise: Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) and Jason X (2001)! In Jason Goes to Hell, Jason's body is obliterated, but his evil spirit lives on, jumping between hosts as he hunts for a blood relative to restore his true form. Then, in Jason X, the franchise takes a wild sci-fi turn as Jason is cryogenically frozen and wakes up in space 400 years later, becoming an unstoppable killing machine (literally) as Uber Jason. We share our thoughts on these campy, over-the-top movies that, while far from perfect, still offer plenty of entertainment through inventive kills and impressive practical effects. From demon-summoning daggers to Jason smashing heads in liquid nitrogen, these films are a testament to the franchise's ability to embrace the absurd. Join us as we celebrate the chaotic fun of these unconventional slasher gems!If you enjoy our show, please leave us a rating & review on Spotify and Apple Podcasts!Facebook Page | Facebook Group | Instagram | Patreon

Join us for the Spooky Season as we watch a Spooktacular sequel. Spooktacular as in, spooky to Friday the 13th fans. Today we're talking about Jason Goes to Hell, a movie that practically tramautized the fanbase and was seen as one of many films that basically killed the golden era of slasher movies. With its bizarre storyline involving bodyswapping, an utter lack of Jason, and a weird mythology, Jason Goes To Hell is almost unrecognizable as a F13 flick. So why would a couple of slasher fanboys defend it? Maybe it's because this is the last gasp of facemelting Practical FX. Maybe it's because it's a true video nasty compared to the corporatized Jason Takes Manhattan. Or maybe it's just because of one slick gentleman named Creighton Duke. Either way, hang with us as we talk about the misunderstood genius of Jason Goes to Hell.Website: https://thatbadmedia.com/Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/33D4bKj...Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...Twitter: https://x.com/ThatBadMediaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbadmedia...Hearts of Darkness: The Making of the Final Friday - https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/hearts-of-darkness-the-making-of-the-final-friday#/

"Jason spends zero actual time in hell"This week's hottest movie is... Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. Plus, there's a magical dagger that can actually send Jason to Hell—because apparently, all this time, Jason's been more Supernatural than Slasher. The mindless, murderous fury that was buried with Jason has been reborn. And suddenly, terror has become child's play! Well, here we are again, folks. Another Friday the 13th, another obligatory Friday the 13th episode. After so many installments, how can the filmmakers possibly top all that has come before? Are we going to get more gruesome kills? Are they going to have an even more disgusting looking version of Jason? – No. What we get this time are hillbillies, random greasers, and a fake Jason that can barely swing a machete. As the film's esteemed hillbilly Ethel would say, “eat your fuckin' slop!”. I'm your host, Dave, and joining me as we watch the Friday the 13th franchise reach new depths of sleaze are fellow cinephiles and crazed ambulance drivers Mike, Jackie, and Ryan. Topics of discussion in this episode include the infamous Roy (aka: Fake Jason), and how we should have had a scene where he's granted Jason powers via dark magic (because why the hell not?); we look behind the scenes at the (alleged) hardcore drug use reported on the set and how the film's director was (allegedly) a huge creep; and finally, we ask exactly what the hell was wrong with the kids in this halfway home? Because all we are shown is that a handful suffer from excessive horniness, one a stutter, and another a chocolate addiction. Be sure to rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. You can also Follow Us on Twitter, Like Us on Facebook, or shoot us an email at apocalypsevideopod@gmail.com. What are your thoughts on A New Beginning? Is Roy the worst Jason or the best Jason? Let us know! That'll do it for this obligatory Friday the 13th episode. We'll be hanging with our old pal Jason again in December when we look at the second “Final” Friday with Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. See you then folks. And remember, never eat enchiladas unless you're within ten to twenty feet of an outhouse.
The next sequel we will be discussing is "Wes Craven's New Nightmare". For it, I chatted with SFX Make-Up Artist Bill Hunt. Bill talked about growing up outside of Nashville and how going to the movies like Jaws and King Kong at a young age with his parents, reading Fangoria Magazine at the newsstand, Howard Berger, Dick Smith's Advice, Jason Goes to Hell, New Zealand, and more. Tom Parsons was a local make-up artist in Nashville who helped out Bill at the age of 13 and was an important part of Bill's journey. I loved Bill's journey and his passion for life. Fellow YouTuber and self-professed "Freddy Fanatic" joins to talk about the long-awaited slasher crossover, "Freddy vs. Jason." Easily "The Avengers" of Dead Teenager movies, Freddy vs. Jason was teased to horror fans at the end of Jason Goes to Hell. Those same fans had to wait over a decade through development hell and unused scrips before New Line Cinema finally delivered the film in 2003.While it was a slasher flick that was hyped like no other, "Freddy vs. Jason" hasn't aged well with genre purists and is often dismissed as being yet another crossover event that couldn't live up to the hype, along with Alien vs. Predator and Batman v. Superman. Over 20 years after Freddy vs. Jason was released, is it worthy of its subpar reputation? Is it a better Freddy movie, or a better Jason movie? And, most importantly, why have neither of these characters been seen in a movie since the 2000s? In this episode, hosts Katherine Troyer and Toni Tresca descend to the underworld (kind of) as they discuss the 1993 horror slasher film Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. Episode Highlights: If we thought it took a while for Jason to make it to Manhattan, we were shocked by how long it took for him to actually go to hell! Katherine maintains that this is perhaps one of the best uses of a cold opening, and we talk about the film's quirky and odd characters. We explore the consequences--on us as viewers--of removing Jason from his own body for so much of the film. And, of course, Toni gives us the scoop on some of the background--and drama--behind the film's production. A Dose of Scholarship: For scholarship on the Friday the 13th franchise, we (continue to) encourage to you to turn to 1) Horror Homeroom's special issue on Friday the 13th. and 2) Wickham Clayton's 2020 book SEE! We are going back, back, back to Crystal Lake and into outer space to ask the question what if the original Jason from Friday the 13th faced off against Uber-Jason from Jason X? We talk the origins of Jason X on screen (New Line, Freddy vs. Jason, Jason Goes to Hell, Kane Hodder) and the transition of Uber-Jason to comics via Avatar with Brian Polito, Sebastian Fiumara and Mike Wolfer including scantily clad scientists, topless astronauts, and lots of blood. Plus, we come up with what characters we want to see face off against other versions of themselves.
