Meet Ashlyn Douglass-Barnes, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and compassionate therapist in private practice. With a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Social Work from Florida State University, Ashlyn has worked in a variety of settings before heading into private practice including management and supervision of new therapists where Ashlyn learned her love of teaching, supporting, and mentorship. Ashlyn's specialization includes supporting individuals and couples before and after bariatric surgery. As a trained professional in pre-surgical mental health clearance, she offers comprehensive counseling tailored to the unique emotional and psychological aspects of the bariatric journey. Driven by a passion to teach and support other therapists and a commitment to filling a gap in training, Ashlyn Douglass-Barnes, LCSW, took the initiative to create her own specialized program to train mental health providers to conduct pre-surgical mental health clearances. With almost a decade of practical experience, she recognized the need for comprehensive training in a specific area and decided to forge her own path. This self-created program equips practitioners with the necessary tools and expertise to excel in their work, ensuring the highest quality of care for those they serve.Driven by the need for a better work-life balance after experiencing the burnout of the pandemic, Ashlyn Douglass-Barnes, LCSW, underwent a transformative journey. Recognizing the importance of self-care and rejuvenation, she discovered a newfound love for traveling. Determined to create a more fulfilling lifestyle, Ashlyn made strategic changes to her business model, specifically focusing on pre-surgical evaluations. This shift allowed her to allocate more time for exploring the world while maintaining a thriving practice.Embracing this shift, Ashlyn found a harmonious balance between work and personal life. By prioritizing self-care and integrating her passion for travel, she not only recharged herself but also enhanced the level of care and support she provides to her clients. I think all of us are a little bit envious of Digital Nomads. They live a life of travel, new experiences while being able to earn a living. How? Is it really possible to do this or is it only for the daring few? @Anirudh Narayan spent 3 years as a Digital Nomad. After leaving his Job in the US he decided to travel the world and never look back. In this podcast, we go through exactly how you can create this life for yourself (obviously in a post covid world :) ) If a life of travel and work even remotely interests you, this podcast is for you! Email Finder Tool - Clearbit (Free Chrome Extension) https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/clearbit-connect-supercha/pmnhcgfcafcnkbengdcanjablaabjplo?hl=en Travel / Work Cheat Sheet: 1. Find specific jobs at US and Europe based startups that you could apply to based on your skillset. https://angel.co/ is a great place to start 2. Once you have a list of 10 startups, start examining exactly how you could help each one of their business. Create a detailed proposal of: What they are doing well, things you would improve, and exactly how you would execute 3. Find the emails of the FOUNDERS. It's important to get in touch with the founders specifically. They make the decisions. Use a tool like Clearbit (link above) to find their email ids. 4. Curate a very specific email to each founder. The body of the email should contain the job opening you're emailing for, and a summary for your in-depth proposal that you completed in part 2. 5. Send the email and hope for the best. Trust me, they reply more often than not. Don't go down the copy and paste the same message to 1000 founders, nobody likes that guy or girl. Catch the video interview on YouTube! Travelling solo is a really special way to travel and it’s the focus of Episode 58 of The Thoughtful Travel Podcast. Everyone’s experience of solo travel is different and these three guests all have a different story to tell from travelilng on their own. First up, Amanda chats with Abby Lewtas who was inspired by a cousin to hit the world on her own, and took off for a big backpacking trip around South America - although not without some hesitation. On the other hand, fellow podcaster Hayden Lee doesn’t seem to do anything with hesitation, and Amanda wasn’t surprised to hear his interesting story of a man he met just ten minutes after arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This is one of those travel adventures that only happens to brave (and crazy) people like Hayden. Finally, Amanda chats with Carly Findlay who has a more regular experience of solo travel, and in fact very similar to Amanda's own experience. It was good to chat to her about the ups and downs of travelling on your own.
