Here's why you need a VIRTUAL ASSISTANT

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 20, 2021 7:49

Use Upwork to Hire a Virtual Assistant: www.upwork.com - Create a 'Client' Profile and Get Started! If you find yourself doing a ton of low value data work that doesn't move the needle in your business or work, you need a VA. Half of our lives get lost in mind numbing work - Research, Data Entry, Emails. Imagine if you outsourced that and had that time for yourself. A Virtual Assistant is generally a freelancer that specialises in doing the work that you don't want to do. There are virtual assistants for content writing, calendar scheduling, data entry, any type of research. Literally anything you could imagine, you can do with a VA. **3 Reasons** 1. Use your time more effectively a. if your life is full of work that "you shouldn't be doing". Don't. For example, for my podcast I do a lot of research into what guests to have on the show. It used to take me 5 hours a week. That hassle is now gone. That's 5 hours to focus elsewhere. b. You have to value your time and value the type of work you can achieve with that time. For example, recording an interview is a $50 per hour item. But researching who to get on, I value that much much less. It's all based on what moves your business or project forward. 2. Work while you sleep or vacation a. You never have to feel guilty about sleeping in on going on vacation. Because your business is always moving forward. b. They can continue to work while you take time off 3. Learn how to manage teams and improve your communication a. If you haven't managed people before, you will get a true view in what it's like to have employees under you and how to manage properly b. The biggest thing I've taken away is how to explain assignments clearly and concisely. This is a huge skill **Final Tips** Finally, I love upwork the most. I've tried all and I have found the best talent here and the ease of use of the platform is amazing. 1. Set a budget and stick to it. Don't go overboard. It's easy to put a CC in and forget. Manage hours and time effectively 2. Don't give tasks to the VA's for the sake of it. Take time to think about why you're giving them that task and why it will be helpful and move your business forward. 3. I highly recommend VA's. Streamline your life and learn to manage people. Absolutely no downside Be a part of our email list! What is it like to start your own venture? How do you handle the stress, late nights and 7 day weeks that go into building a startup? @Ragini Das, who is a co-founder of leap.club, was founded 10 months ago. And she and her team are in the midst of answering these questions. In our conversation, we dive deep into finding something you love, ways to prioritise and set your own objectives and how to deal with the inevitable burnout that comes with the midnight grind. If you're pondering the thought of starting something, and want a real look into what it takes, this podcast is for you. Cheat Sheet: 1. Make sure to have time for yourself. Ragini takes 2 hours in the morning everyday for her own mental and physical health. For her it is exercise, watering her plants and listening to music. What would make you feel like you're on the front foot for the day? 2. To build consistency, she wakes up around the same time every single day. It's 630am for her, but you can pick any time, just stick to it. Usually, this is best done by picking the best time to go to bed to make sure you are getting 8 hours of sleep - See Shayamal podcast 3. Ragini writes every single thing down. Reminders to drink water, calling loved ones and every single piece of work that needs to get done so it's not forgotten 4. And, it must leave you with more positive relationships than you had before. Because if you have those 2 things in place, even if your new venture completely fails, you will have gained from the experience. The podcast certainly checks these boxes for me. Email Finder Tool - Clearbit (Free Chrome Extension) https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/clearbit-connect-supercha/pmnhcgfcafcnkbengdcanjablaabjplo?hl=en Travel / Work Cheat Sheet: 1. Find specific jobs at US and Europe based startups that you could apply to based on your skillset. https://angel.co/ is a great place to start 2. Once you have a list of 10 startups, start examining exactly how you could help each one of their business. Create a detailed proposal of: What they are doing well, things you would improve, and exactly how you would execute 3. Find the emails of the FOUNDERS. It's important to get in touch with the founders specifically. They make the decisions. Use a tool like Clearbit (link above) to find their email ids. 4. Curate a very specific email to each founder. The body of the email should contain the job opening you're emailing for, and a summary for your in-depth proposal that you completed in part 2. 5. Send the email and hope for the best. Trust me, they reply more often than not. Don't go down the copy and paste the same message to 1000 founders, nobody likes that guy or girl. Catch the video interview on YouTube!
