We are joined in this episode by RPG writer and editor Wolfgang Baur. He has been working on tabletop roleplaying games since the 90's. We talk game design, editing. We also talk quite a bit about his own company; Kobold Press, and how it has evolved into the amazing company it is today!
The founder of Kobold Press, Wolfgang Baur, joins me on the podcast today. We have a wide-ranging discussion covering game mastering, game design, and much more. Wolfgang informs us how he discovered Dungeons and Dragons and gives us insight into Kobold Press. Don't miss this episode.
One of the giants of the tabletop role-playing industry, Wolfgang Baur, joins me today at The Corner of Story and Game. Wolfgang has an extensive list of products he has worked on for many companies - starting out at TSR in 1991. He has served as editor on both Dungeon Magazine and Dragon Magazine, was involved in Planescape and Al-Qadim, and created numerous other products while at TSR. Outside of Dungeons and Dragons, he has contributed to such big-name properties as Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Legend of the Five Rings, and Pathfinder. These days he is busy running Kobold Press, publishing quality products on a regular basis. We talk about everything from the challenge of naming things, to editing at the magazines, to running Kobold Press, and so much more. (*Note, this interview took place early in December, prior to the passing of the incredible Kim Mohan - who comes up in one of Wolfgang's anecdotes.) Enjoy! Wolfgang Baur is a game design and game publisher, and the head kobold of Kobold Press. He enjoys occasionally wildly unbalanced encounters to freak out players, along with weird puzzles, strange languages, and (not surprisingly) kobolds.
