Rev. Lee struggles a bit with what to say about the events at the Capitol this week. She planned to introduce the practice of generosity, but thought the message might not make sense this week. But when she thought more about it, she realized that generosity is a practice of pushing back against toxic individualism “I’ve got mine, and you’ve got yours… good luck.” She shares with us how she began practicing generosity herself this year, now that her everyday expenses are down during the pandemic. She ends by asking us to take up a small generosity practice that we can do today.

Trusting God seems like a risky proposition. It seems better to only trust yourself and what you can control. But scripture teaches that is not what faith looks like. Israel is threatened by a massive enemy. King Saul is in a cave, but his son Jonathon picks a fight armed with not much more than his faith in God. Jonathan courageously kicks off a battle believing that perhaps God might intervene because nothing can hinder God working to achieve the impossible. As the story unfolds, God does intervene through an earthquake and the enemy is routed. But Saul demonstrates faithlessness by nearly ruining the day with his actions. First he’s hiding, then he hesitates, then tries to manipulate the situation with control. Failing to follow God’s command comes up with a command of his own, issuing a rash oath for his own glory. The result is that it hampers the battle and almost costs Jonathon’s life. The passage ends by acknowledging Saul’s subsequent man-made victories, but poignantly reveals it was only due to the fact that he attached himself to valiant men. The message for us is that the kind of faith that pleases God is when we act under the “assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” [He 11] Faith is trusting God and taking risks. That is the faith God rewards and by which we’re saved.

We can expect persecution if we believe in Jesus, and even more so if we speak His Name. If we haven’t experienced persecution we should ask ourselves “why not?”

Trusting God might sounds simple but it is not easy. Saul foolishly chose to trust his own understanding, disobeyed God, and started down the easier way of destruction. One year into Saul’s reign, Jonathon kicks off a war with their enemies the Philistines. Saul calls the nation to face an overwhelmingly larger army, and the people are filled with fear and hopelessness. Many hide and flee, and the army begins to dwindle. Samuel seems late, and Saul doesn’t wait; choosing to offer an unauthorized sacrifice to the Lord instead of trusting God. Samuel confronts Saul who offers excuses and blames others. The consequence of Saul’s foolishness is that his kingdom will not last because of his disobedience. We are reminded of Jesus words in Mt 7:13-14, that the way to destruction is easy, and that trusting God is hard. Small compromises with sin lead to enslavement and destruction. Conversely, trusting God is rarely easy or simple. Saul thought he was doing the right thing, but his compromise was actually foolishly disobedient. His “small” sin began his gradual descent down the easy road to destruction, rather than trusting God regardless of circumstance, timing, or outcome - like Jesus did. Our faith and trust can only be in Jesus, who took the hardest road of obedience for our sake.

Right relationships with one another only exist where the Gospel is taught, believed, & lived out. The knowledge of God always affects our relationships with one another. But it’s not just the mental ability to know you should love one another, but the practice of actually doing it. This is what it means to “walk in it”. Hebrews 10:24 says, “let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works”. Resolve this year to intentionally show love to someone(s) specific every week. When someone loves us well, it motivates us to go and do that same kind of thing for someone else. Then it continues on down the line to the point where we look up and the world looks in and all are amazed at the genuine, selfless love the church has for one another.

"A few decades after his death and resurrection, as reflected in our Scripture for today, the earliest generation of leaders of the church seek to bear witness to God’s promise to “all the nations of the world” by sharing the good news and grace of Jesus Christ with Gentiles, people who were not part of the Jewish covenant, people who were among the 'nations of the world.' In our passage, the writer of Ephesians marvels at both the power and beauty of God who through Christ is reaching out to and including within his promise the formerly excluded Gentiles." Rev. Larry Hayward preaches on the Second Sunday after Christmas. The Scripture lesson is Ephesians 3:1-12.

Psalm 119:156 LORD, how great is your mercy; let me be revived by following your regulations. (NLT) Psalm 119:25   I lie in the dust; revive me by your word. (NLT) Psalm 85:6 Won’t you revive us again, so your people can rejoice in you? (NLT) Psalm 80:18 Then we will never abandon you again. Revive us so we can call on your name once more. (NLT) 4 Revival Stoppers 1. A fading faith Revelation 2:3-4 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. 4  Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. (NIV) 2. A compromising faith Revelation 2:13-14   I know where you live—where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city—where Satan lives. 14  Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality. (NIV) Revelation 2:19-20 I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. 20  Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. (NIV) 1. Compromising God’s Word 2. Compromising sexually 3. Compromising relationships 3. A faking faith Revelation 3:1 “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits  of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. (NIV) 4. A lukewarm faith Revelation 3:15-17 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!  16  So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.  17  You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. (NIV) 2 Revival starters 1. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. (NIV). Revelation 2:16 Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. (NIV) Revelation 3:19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. (NIV) Acts 3:19 “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,” (NIV)‬‬‬‬ Isaiah 1:27   Zion will be restored by justice; those who repent will be revived by righteousness. (NLT) Isaiah 57:15 The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: “I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts. (NLT) 2 Chronicles 7:14   if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (NIV) 2. A Spirit dependent faith Revelation 2:7   Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. (NIV) Revelation 2:11   Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death. (NIV) Revelation 2:17   Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. #Flourish #Successfulliving #seedtimeandharvest #seasons #blessedlife #kingship #abundance #Overflow #florishinfamine We as Believers are called by God to be symbols of prosperity for all to see that will lead people to repentance (Romans 2:4). They see the goodness of God on us and desire to walk in that same goodness. Isaac was a man who walked in the covenant of his father, Abraham. THE BLESSING of God was operating in him. Even during a time of famine. He prospered. He sowed and reaped a hundredfold that same year (Genesis 26:12). Verses 13-14 tell us, “The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him” (New King James Version). We are symbols and sources of prosperity for all to see and benefit from. Even in the worst, most difficult financial times, you and I wave like a banner in the wind, declaring that God is good, Jesus is LORD and that our God “will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19, AMPC). When people come up to you and say, “I want what you have,” be ready to lead them to Jesus. They are about to experience John 10:10 (AMPC), which says, “I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” Prospering, thriving and flourishing with you, Join Dr Sing as he expounds on Kingdom Prosperity! With Christmas Eve being the celebration of the SSK series coming to fruition in the flesh, we want to build off of those three roles of Christ. With Christ sitting on the throne of our lives in those three areas, then we truly have what he said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.” (John 14:27). The moment we feel sit in shame of our past(Christ as Savior/Cross), fight the guidance of today (Christ as shepherd/Crook), or his control of the future (Christ as King/Cross), we become immobilized. As we take on his yoke that’s talked about in Matt 11: 28-30, we find that he isn’t taking us into easy living, he’s taking us into his peace and contentment found when we strive after him and with him. That only comes from us sitting into the battle of letting Christ be the head in those areas of our lives (past, present, future).

You’ve probably heard people call Jesus a ”Savior.” Why would we need someone to save us? Do we really need a Savior? Listen as Pastor Jeremy delivers a powerful Christmas Eve message with three questions about Jesus: • What do we need? • What did He do? • So what? “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” ~Matthew 1:21

In this week’s podcast, I talk about what the “secret mystery” that Paul revealed really means for you! I hear the body of Christ talking about a lot of things that are not the point, at least not until we get a real revelation and truly experience the invisible reality of Jesus Christ in us, and all that that means. Beloved, this mystery has got to become our identity, our way of thinking, the meditation of our heart! It is time for you to know and believe - there is no separation from God at all, and He is determined for you to be fully conformed into the image of Jesus. My prayer for you as you listen to this podcast is that you will say yes to the unveiling of the mystery and what it means personally for you. And I release the Spirit of wisdom and revelation upon you - in Jesus’ name!

One Christmas Eve, my sister and I were startled by a noise outside our bedroom window. Our “regular” night of going to sleep was interrupted by an astonishing event. On a much larger and more significant scale, the Shepherds (on the night Jesus was born) were the recipients of a Divine interruption into their regular life. Let’s see how God’s radical arrival changed their eternities.

"The Son of God has come..." - that’s Christmas! This short and simple statement from John sums up something that all of creation had been waiting for, longing and yearning for – the coming of the Messiah. Jesus Christ has come so that everyone who believes in Him knows the Father. Everyone who is found in Jesus is simultaneously found in the Father. Knowing God means being in God; being in God means being in Christ. "To embrace a form of Christianity that allows one to deny the truth about Jesus, not live a godly life, or not love others, is to create an idol – and that is something all Christians must constantly guard against.” (Ben Merkle, “What Is the Meaning of Idols?”) “When we turn a good thing into a god thing it becomes a bad thing: an idol.” (Daniel Akin) The enemy lies and says the things of this world will satisfy you and give you rest, but only Christ truly and eternally satisfies and gives true rest. Only Jesus can, because He is “the true God and eternal life”.
