Bible Reading: Psalm 51:5; John 8:30-36"Hi, Rosetta," said Mom as she set a bag of groceries on the counter. "Lots of homework today?" Rosetta looked up from the books and papers scattered across the table. "Yeah. I have a report due on Tuesday.""Oh? On what?" asked Mom as she started putting food in the refrigerator."Harriet Tubman. She was a slave who escaped to freedom on the Underground Railroad. After she made it to freedom herself, she went back to help others escape slavery. If she had been caught, she would have been enslaved again!" "Wow," said Mom. "That's pretty brave.""Yeah." Rosetta leaned back in her chair. "I don't think I could ever be that brave. If I had escaped slavery and was able to make it to freedom, I'd want to stay there! I don't think I'd risk going back for people I didn't even know."Mom was quiet for a moment. "Well, I sure am glad someone was willing to rescue me from slavery," she said."What?" Rosetta straightened up. "What are you talking about?""You and I--along with every other person--were born into a different kind of slavery," Mom explained. "We weren't enslaved to a human master like Harriet Tubman, but the Bible tells us that everyone is born into bondage to sin. We can't escape sin on our own, so Jesus came to earth to rescue us. He became human Himself and died for our sins so we could be free.""Oh," said Rosetta. "Right.""And now that we've been freed by Jesus, we can help point others to the freedom they can have in Him too," Mom said. "But unlike Harriet Tubman, we don't ever have to worry about being enslaved again. Once Jesus frees us from sin, we're free forever.""But pointing others to Jesus isn't quite like what Harriet Tubman did, is it?" Rosetta asked. "It's not as scary and dangerous as going to a place where you could be captured and enslaved.""Well, it's not against the law to tell people about Jesus where we live, so it's probably less dangerous than in other places in the world. But it can still be scary. That's why we need to trust God to give us the strength and courage we need to boldly tell others about Jesus." – Jean A. BurnsHow About You?Are you doing what you can to help others know about the freedom they can have in Christ? It can be scary when someone might make fun of you. It can even be dangerous if you live in a part of the world where it's illegal to be a Christian or tell others about Jesus. But God promises to help you. Jesus loves us so much that He left heaven and came to rescue us from sin. He will give you courage so you can boldly tell others about Him.Today's Key Verse:Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. (NIV) (Acts 4:29)Today's Key Thought:Point others to freedom in Christ

What Is Speaking In Tongues? Revelation 3:15–16 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. (NIV) Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. (NIV) Hebrews 6:11–12 11 Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. 12 Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance. (NLT) 1. Step of salvation 2. Step of baptism in water 3. Step of baptism of the Holy Spirit 4. Step of being continually filled with the Holy Spirit 5. Step of growing in the fruit of the Spirit 6. Step of the gifts of the Holy Spirit 7. Step of daily prayer and bible reading 8. Step of obeying God’s word 9. Step of growing in sanctification 10. Step of stepping out in faith 11. Step of serving others 12. Step of tithing and giving 13. Step of attending a small group Acts 1:4–5 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” (NIV) Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (NIV) John 20:21–22 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. (NIV) Acts 2:1–4 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. (NIV) Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (NKJV) Ephesians 2:8–9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—9 not by works, so that no one can boast. (NIV) 1 Corinthians 14:4–5 Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. 5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified. (NIV) 1 Corinthians 14:12–19 So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit, try to excel in those that build up the church. 13 For this reason the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15 So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding. 16 Otherwise when you are praising God in the Spirit, how can someone else, who is now put in the position of an inquirer, say “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since they do not know what you are saying? 17 You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified. 18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 19 But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue. (NIV) Acts 19:1–5 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?” “John’s baptism,” they replied. 4 Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (NIV) Ephesians 1:13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, (NIV) Acts 19:6–7 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all. (NIV) Acts 8:13-18 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw. 14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money (NIV) Acts 10:44-46 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. (NIV) How To Receive The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit 1. Ask God to baptize you in the Holy Spirit Luke 11:13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (NIV) 2. Worship and magnify God 3. By faith receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit 4. Ask God to continually fill you with the Holy Spirit Ephesians 5:18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, (NIV)

There's nothing better than having someone believe in us. Sometimes it can be difficult to believe in ourselves when we see all of our flaws and weaknesses, but it's possible to be self-aware without being self-critical. Being self-aware means knowing how and where we need to grow. Even if we haven't arrived yet, we believe we can get there because Jesus believes in us. What made the New Testament church so incredible was they became like Jesus in this world. They believed that God believed in them, and so they had the faith to believe in others too. Learn more in our last episode of this One Quick Thought series about how Jesus changed the world. Show Notes Mark 4:39-40 NLT Luke 17:6 NIV Acts 26:15-16,18-19 NIV
Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast
Episode Summary: Human trafficking is a much bigger issue than most people realize. Today we're going to be talking with an expert who can shed some light on this global epidemic and provide us some hope for better understanding human trafficking, how we can help, and what needs to be done for ending human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Today's guest is currently a North American Cloud Strategist with a background in Broadcast Journalism and Coding and Development. She is also an advocate for the complete eradication of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation in South Carolina and across the globe. As a Constitutional Republic Preservationist she believes We the People are the solution and through Christ we can do all things. Together we can return our Nation to God, and He can heal our land. Quotables from the episode: Through many trials and tribulations, I have made many mistakes but have learned from each of them. I now view challenges as an opportunity to overcome and bring glory to God. We often see a misconception in society around Human Trafficking. In order to efficiently combat this atrocity we need to inform, educate, and shift the mindset associated with this issue. We also need to focus on loving one another better, setting one another up for success from the beginning by laying a firm foundation of Faith. This alone will help to combat Human Trafficking. Awareness is where we start the fight against human trafficking. There are four main types of human sex trafficking: peer trafficking, familial trafficking, gang trafficking, and survival trafficking. The United States is the #1 buyer of trafficking victims with over a $90 billion annual revenue stream. Trafficking starts at a point of vulnerability and works to get the victim's trust, and then start grooming them. If there is a bidirectional interaction there is an opportunity for trafficking. Trafficking is most prominent in coastal and border areas, and in hubs that connect major cities, but it happens in every city. 4 Major Myths about Trafficking: 1) it doesn't happen to men; 2) all traffickers are men; 3) trafficking only happens in far off lands; 4) trafficking only starts in parking lots. There are millions of individuals who have experienced Human Trafficking and the most important message we can give to these victims is that “You Are NOT Alone”. Their experiences do not define them but instead give them an opportunity to become victors. Sometimes, we must travel through the darkness in order to recognize the Light. Start loving yourself. Every day that we wake up, we are given yet another opportunity to be a better version of ourselves. It is so important that we love ourselves and that we take the time to say to ourselves, no matter what we've been through, no matter what mistakes we've made, that was yesterday. Mindset is everything. If we constantly degrade ourselves by negative self thoughts, we limit our view of what we can be. However, if we begin to view each day as a gift, an opportunity, then we can start to imagine ourselves being great. Then it will be so. Scripture References: John 1:4-5 In him was life and that life was the Light of all mankind. The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. NIV Isaiah 42: 6-7 I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand, I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the nations, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness. NIV Acts 13:46-47 Then Paul and Barnabus answered them boldly, “It was necessary to speak the word of God to you first. But since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a Light for the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'” NIV Recommended Resources: www.humantraffickinghotline.com Human Trafficking Hotline 1-888-373-7888 TEXT BeFree to 233733 www.polarisproject.org https://www.scag.gov/human-trafficking/data-reports www.justice.gov/humantrafficking Today is Going to be a Good Day: 90 Promises to Start Your Day Off Right by Dr. Michelle Bengtson YouVersion 7-Day Devotional, Today is Going to be a Good Day YouVersion 7-Day Devotional, Today is Going to be Another Good Day Breaking Anxiety's Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Breaking Anxiety's Grip Free Study Guide Free 7-Day YouVersion Bible Reading Plan for Breaking Anxiety's Grip Hope Prevails: Insights from a Doctor's Personal Journey Through Depression by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the Christian Literary Award Reader's Choice Award Hope Prevails Bible Study by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the Christian Literary Award Reader's Choice Award Trusting God Through Cancer 1 Trusting God Through Cancer 2 Revive & Thrive Women's Conference Subdue Stress and Anxiety: Fifteen Experts Offer Comprehensive Tools in Ten Minutes a Day. The church we read about in the New Testament was not made strong by the celebrity of an individual superstar preacher. It was made strong by the powerful walk with God of each individual Christian, which collectively made the early church a transformative force in the world. This transformative church can live again, but it will require a paradigm shift in how we live and lead in our churches. So this is not a podcast where you can multitask while you listen. I'm not trying to give you new information or things to consider like other podcasts. I love those kinds of podcasts. But in this podcast I'm wanting to give you an experience. I want you to learn to reintegrate your body with your mind's awareness so that you can notice the “red flag” when you feel tension or anxiety in your body. It's a red flag that you're experiencing a vertical disconnect with God. And I want you to experience what a vertical connection feels like through envisioning the unseen reality of God's presence in this moment and his presence in your body by his Holy Spirit. We now know through recent neuroscience and advanced imaging technology that our brains are constantly re-wiring to match our experiences and our environment. And what we do, what we see, what we say, what we think, how we react or respond to perceived threats is always changing our brain in our neurons and connections between neurons. This is why we can get good at a new skill like typing on a keyboard or playing scales quickly on an instrument or playing a sport. And we can change our brains to get better and better at responding to perceived threats with stress and anxiety. Or we can get better and better at perceiving God's presence in all his ruling power and goodness and steadfast love in those situations instead. All by being transformed by the renewing of your mind — the rewiring of your brain. The Bible has been telling us this all along even if neuroscience is only recently discovering it. “Being transformed by the renewing of your mind” is literally, physiologically, rewiring your brain — which in part happens through the practice of Christian meditation — to see each moment in your life through the lens of the reality of who God is and what it really means that he is always 100% present in each moment you face. And the fundamental truth with which to renew your mind is Romans 11:36, “From him, through him, and for him are all things.” Vs. the pattern of this age — “My life is my own. Living for ME.” Almost every cultural influencer in this age is going to try to convince you to shape/form yourself and your life after that pattern. But is it true? Is it real? Are you the creator of yourself? Is your life really from you and through you and for you? If you're a follower of Jesus, deep inside you know the answer to that. And you need to actively renew your mind by meditation on the true answer — and if you do you will experience transformation instead of conformity. Scripture: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts%209%3A1-28&version=NIV (Acts 9:1-28) SHOW NOTES: Life's Journeys will bring us face to face with difficult people, even cruel people. Last time we met Saul, a leading Pharisee in Jerusalem, zealous for the Law, and persecuting men and women who were following Jesus. He was determined this new message would not spread any further into Judaism. Saul travels from Jerusalem to Damascus when suddenly a light from heaven shone around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice speaking to him. “Why are you persecuting me?” For three days, he could not see, and he waited in a house in Damascus. Then, the Lord spoke to Ananias, “Go, for this man is now a chosen instrument of mine.” The purpose of Saul's journey was rerouted, and he was now “called” to be a messenger of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Saul's entire life was changed! SONG: "The God Who Stays" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHMVSdIjBcg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHMVSdIjBcg)
Scripture: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+8%3A1-3%2C+18%3A3%2C+22%3A3-4%2C+26%3A9&version=NIV (Acts 8:1-3, 18:3, 22:3-4, 26:9) SHOW NOTES: In the time period of the early Church, we meet a Pharisee named Saul. Later in his life, He makes this statement, “I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh … circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless” (Phil. 3:4-6). The new believers in Jerusalem were greatly afraid of the zealous work of this man. He was a leader in the great persecution of the Church in Jerusalem – arresting, binding men and women, and having them imprisoned. But we know God had His eye on this very zealous follower of the Law. No matter where you find yourself today … know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can come to the Lord … just as you are! Scripture: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts%2016%3A11-40&version=NIV (Acts 16:11-40) Title: Open Your Heart SHOW NOTES: This chapter in Acts is the only time we meet Lydia. Her life journey brought her from Thyatira to Philippi for her business ventures – we don't know all the details. But an important part of her life was to gather for prayer by the river. Here, she sought a true relationship with God. While on their journey, God led Paul and Silas to this group of women, and they shared the good news of Jesus Christ. And the Lord opened her heart. This church in the city of Philippi also grew when the jailer and his household believed in God and were saved. It is our sincere prayer that you will “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” and continue to Walk with God. God's Word is filled with the journeys of real people and there is much wisdom and insight for us to glean from them. We have looked at Joseph's journey and now we will turn the pages in our Bibles to the book of Exodus – the journey of Moses. Joseph's story and Moses' story intersect with each other. Joseph was in Egypt when Jacob's family arrives and Moses will lead the people of Israel out of Egypt. But first, a baby boy in a basket floating in the Nile River. Moses, adopted by Pharaoh's daughter, will receive a royal education – academic, military, and leadership training. When Moses defends a Hebrew man and murders an Egyptian, he faces a major twist in his journey. He now must flee because Pharaoh seeks to kill Moses. Imagine a scene the Bible describes before the very throne of God in…Revelation 4:8-10 (NIV)Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:“‘Holy, holy, holyis the Lord God Almighty,'who was, and is, and is to come.”Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: Then…Revelation 4:11 (NIV)“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” We know from physics that your physical body is composed of atoms arranged differently into molecules to form different kinds of physical realities in your body. When it comes to loving others, we sometimes have to stretch ourselves to honor the commands that Jesus has about love. How can I love someone who is so different from me, we might ask ourselves? How can I love someone who I don't understand and who doesn't understand me? In our daily lives, it's natural for us to make bonds with people who are like us, who have our same values, who believe like us. It can be tempting to live in that bubble and *think* that we are practicing love. But Jesus calls us to do more. He asks that “all we do be done in love.” If we can remember that before each conversation we have, before each decision we make in regards to others, as we measure the words and actions that we speak and do each day, we'll find that a life lived in love will bring healing, reconciliation and benefits to us that we could have never imagined. Our guests this week are deliberate about taking a posture of love toward what they do in the world. Tauren Wells is a musician, songwriter and speaker who encourages us to recognize God's love in all that we do and say, and pastor and writers John Siebeling and Wayne Francis have purposefully made unconditional love a part of how they welcome people of all kinds into their churches, and now they're building off of that to bring people together to have conversations about love, acceptance, and race. And I don't think that the presence of God is a fun-free zone.” - Tauren Wells “If we're really trying to make our churches diverse and multicultural, it's not just having people in the room that look like the culture we want. It's creating the pieces of fabric that make up those cultures and weaving them into the faith community that we're building.” - Tauren Wells “The key to moving forward beyond some of the racial tension that we've seen is just super open-handed, open-hearted conversations. And when you have an open heart and you have an open hand, you sit down with somebody that's different from you and you get the opportunity to see and hear their heart and their perspective. You grow and you learn.” - John Siebeling “We're not just trying to empower white people to have these conversations. We're empowering black people, people of color, how to have these conversations in a way that's life giving. And it blends us, moves us closer together toward the vision that we see in scripture, which is one nation, one people, one tribe.” - Wayne Francis “We have to keep the condition of the soul right so that even when we're angry, we can communicate in ways that don't blow everything up…canceling people is not the way that we move the conversation forward.” - Wayne Francis “The Bible says, ‘Pray without ceasing.' That means somehow, even in the midst of work and working out and cooking and doing all that we're doing, we are communing with God.” - John Siebeling “Diversity isn't reserved for heaven.” - Wayne Francis ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel: Audio Playlist: https://bit.ly/2PrbuwH Video Playlist: https://bit.ly/2PsmEkJ What's Good? Today we're going to talk about science and religion. Big, big topics that have influenced our faiths for our whole lives. Studies show that Christians everywhere experience the tension between the two things. But is there really a conflict? Do we have to make a choice? Or can there be a harmony when these two ways of looking at the world align? Bible Reading: John 3:16-18, 36Passenger trains no longer came through the little town of Judson, but for the city's anniversary celebration, a train was running on the old tracks once again. "Look, Dad!" exclaimed Brandon, pointing to a sign. "Free rides!" Dad read aloud. "Climb aboard and enjoy an old-fashioned train ride to Rock Island." So Brandon and Dad got on the train. After they sat on the tracks for a while, Brandon asked, "Shouldn't we be going by now?"Dad looked around. "Maybe they're waiting for more people to get on."Just then a conductor stepped into the car. "Guess you folks didn't read the sign carefully," he said. "This car's not going anywhere.""How come?" asked Brandon in surprise. "It's on a side track and isn't hooked up to an engine," the man explained. "The train on the main track is the one we're using. It will be back soon, and then you can have a ride."Brandon and his father felt a little foolish as they and several others got off the train to wait. "We got on that train fully expecting a ride to Rock Island, but we didn't get there," Dad observed. "We were on the wrong track and weren't attached to the engine." He smiled at Brandon. "You know, this isn't the first time I've done something like this." "It's not?" asked Brandon. "You mean you've sat on the wrong track before?""Yes," Dad said. "For many years!" Brandon's eyes widened. "Years?" He couldn't imagine waiting that long for the train to move.Dad nodded. "When I was a young man, I was convinced that because I attended church regularly and tried to live a good life, I would go to heaven. I fully expected that my good deeds would get me there. But what I didn't realize until years later was that I was sitting on the wrong track. I wasn't connected to the engine.""Being connected to the engine means trusting in Jesus, doesn't it?" Brandon said. "Yes," said Dad. "Only He can save us from sin and give us eternal life. We won't go anywhere without Him."Hearing a train whistle, Brandon and Dad looked up and saw their train coming. "We're hooked up to the engine now," Brandon said as they boarded the train. "So we're going somewhere this time!" (Ruth I. Jay)How About You?Are you on the right track to heaven--are you connected to the engine? The Bible doesn't say you get to heaven by going to church, giving to the poor, being kind and helpful, or doing other good things. It says you must trust in God's Son, Jesus. You must be connected to Him. Trust Jesus as your Savior today! Today, Dave talks with Denny Spitters and Matthew Ellison. Denny and Matthew are the authors of When Everything is Missions and editors of the companion text titled, Conversations on When Everything is Missions. The discussion revolves around the danger of labeling everything as missions in the church and understanding how important it is to grasp accurate terminology. They examine Acts 1:8 and the problem with “your Jerusalem” terminology as well as how mobilization is hindered when we lose sight of a correct definition of missions. Some topics discussed on the show: Why did you write, When Everything is Missions? How did the companion book, Conversations on When Everything is Missions come about? Who are some of the contributing authors? How do we as mobilizers and missions pastors correct the narrative that everything is missions? Please share with us some testimonies about how pastors/churches shifted their definition of missions and the results of that. If our listeners would like to purchase the book or learn more about this topic, how can they do that? Bible Reading: Matthew 22:37-40; John 15:12-13, 15; Acts 20:35Megan sat in the hairdresser's chair. Sharon, her mom's stylist, smiled and wrapped a cape over Megan's shoulders. "What are we doing today, Megan?""I want to donate my hair to help make a wig for a kid with cancer," Megan replied.Sharon looked at Megan and her mom. "You've been growing out your hair for a long time. Are you positive this is what you want to do?"Megan nodded. "Kelcey, my best friend, has cancer. During her treatments she'll lose all her hair, but she'll get a wig to wear while her hair grows back. Her mom said some charities provide free wigs to kids who lose their hair during cancer treatments. I know there's not enough time for Kelcey to get my hair, but some other kid will someday.""What a blessing you're giving someone," Sharon said. "How short do you want your hair?""Shoulder length would be okay," Megan said."You need at least twelve inches to donate. It looks close, but we must be sure."Sharon measured. Megan's hair was one inch too short to keep her hair shoulder length."What do you want to do, Megan?" Mom asked.Megan stared at the mirror. She took a deep breath. "I could wait and let my hair grow a little longer." She paused. "But I won't. Cut my hair as short as you need to so I can donate it now."Sharon washed, dried, remeasured, and cut ponytails of Megan's hair. They carefully wrapped the hair in tissue paper and prepared it for donating."Before we send my hair away, I want to pray for the child who will wear the wig with my hair in it," Megan said."Great idea," Sharon said. They all put their hands on the package and prayed together. Then Sharon got busy on Megan's new hairstyle.Megan spun the chair around and looked at her new hairdo in the mirrors. "I love it! And even more, I love that my hair will help someone in need."Mom nodded. "What you've done reminds me of what Jesus did for us. He sacrificed Himself to make us whole, and when a child facing cancer gets the wig with your hair, I'm sure they'll feel a little more whole too." Lynda BoucherHow About You?Have you helped someone who had a need? Maybe it was simply lending a classmate a pencil in school. Or perhaps it was something bigger that required more sacrifice. Whatever it was, your willingness to give up your time, money, or something else you possessed to help someone in need showed them the love of Jesus. How can you be a blessing to someone today? Today's Key Verse:It is more blessed to give than receive. (NIV) (Acts 20:35)Today's Key Thought:Give to help others

Psalm 119:156 LORD, how great is your mercy; let me be revived by following your regulations. (NLT) Psalm 119:25 I lie in the dust; revive me by your word. (NLT) Psalm 85:6 Won’t you revive us again, so your people can rejoice in you? (NLT) Psalm 80:18 Then we will never abandon you again. Revive us so we can call on your name once more. (NLT) 4 Revival Stoppers 1. A fading faith Revelation 2:3-4 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. 4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. (NIV) 2. A compromising faith Revelation 2:13-14 I know where you live—where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city—where Satan lives. 14 Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality. (NIV) Revelation 2:19-20 I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. 20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. (NIV) 1. Compromising God’s Word 2. Compromising sexually 3. Compromising relationships 3. A faking faith Revelation 3:1 “To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. (NIV) 4. A lukewarm faith Revelation 3:15-17 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. (NIV) 2 Revival starters 1. A repenting faith Revelation 2:5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. (NIV) Revelation 2:22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. (NIV) Revelation 3:3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. (NIV). Revelation 2:16 Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. (NIV) Revelation 3:19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. (NIV) Acts 3:19 “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,” (NIV) Isaiah 1:27 Zion will be restored by justice; those who repent will be revived by righteousness. (NLT) Isaiah 57:15 The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: “I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts. (NLT) 2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (NIV) 2. A Spirit dependent faith Revelation 2:7 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. (NIV) Revelation 2:11 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death. (NIV) Revelation 2:17 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. (NIV) Revelation 2:29 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (NIV) Revelation 3:6 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (NIV) Revelation 3:13 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (NIV) Revelation 3:22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (NIV) 1. We must live by the Spirit Galatians 5:25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. (NIV) 3. We must be led by the Spirit Romans 8:14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. (NIV) Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (NIV) 1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. (NIV) Revelation 3:22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (NIV) 1. https://youtu.be/n8bvHcVu_5Q There is more to the afterlife than heaven & hell. Do you know about the 2 resurrections? How about the 2 judgments? Well, what about the 2nd death? God has so much to show us in His Word! Let's gain this knowledge and be ready for the return of Jesus Christ! Chris Fluitt Welcome back To Redemption Church in Plano TX! This is the 4th week of the afterlife series. My name is Chris Fluitt; I am so happy to share the Word of God with you today. . Do not fear! Someone told me the other day that they have fear about the afterlife and this was an area of great concern… but the knowledge of God's Word has now brought them confidence after learning more about the coming rapture & millennial kingdom. The Afterlife is a lot more than just Heaven & Hell The afterlife is a little more complicated than you might think. Most people are curious as to what happens after this life; be assured, the Bible gives us answers. We have been working together to create an afterlife timeline. AFTERLIFE TIMELINE 4 If you have any questions about this timeline, you need to check out the first 3 messages. You can find them all at www.redemptionplano.com. I am certain that more than a few of you are going to learn something new about the afterlife, today. Today I am taking about the 2 Resurrections, 2 judgments, & the 2nd death Last week we talked about the 2nd coming of Jesus. God likes his 2's. If you read your 2nd (new) testament you will learn about the 2nd (last) Adam and all that He did to give you a 2nd birth. Your Bible speaks of 2 Resurrections. I did not say Rapture.. I said Resurrections. There will be a series of Resurrections: specifically, 2 resurrections. Daniel prophecies the resurrection. Daniel 12:1 "At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people--everyone whose name is found written in the book--will be delivered.(NIV) So where on our timeline is this verse placed? AFTERLIFE TIMELINE 4 [What is “a time of distress not seen before?” The 7 year tribulation!] Daniel 12:2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.(NIV) Let's point out 3 things! Resurrection from the dead is not just a New Testament idea. The prophets of old knew Messiah would raise the dead.Although this great number is Resurrected, they do not all go to the same place. Some to everlasting life (sounds like heaven)Some to shame & everlasting contempt (sounds like Hell)Remember that this resurrection is tied to end-time prophecy. The scripture in context was speaking of tribulation and of those that are delivered. That gives us a time frame. {Other verses pointing to plural resurrections} Luke 14:14 and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."(NIV) Acts 24:15 and I have the same hope in God as these men, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.(NIV) John 5:28 "Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice (NIV) John 5:29 …and come out--those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.(NIV)} Revelation 20 marks the end of the tribulation and the beginning of the millennial reign... it says something curious. Revelation 20:4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.(NIV)

The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him. For this is what you asked of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the Lord our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.” The Lord said to me: “What they say is good. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. Ps. Jeremy Johnson | During the height of the Coronavirus pandemic, Pastor Jeremy Johnson made the decision to not be lead by fear but by faith. The church gathered online and listened in on a new sermon series Pastor Jeremy decided to deliver: “This Is My Level Up!” In this sermon, our Pastor laid out what it takes to be the pastor of your home and how a leader should respond in times such as these. Some of the points discussed included, “The Word of God will protect you against fear,” “God is not surprised by this, nor is he worried,” and, of course, “This is my level up!” We hope that this podcast inspires you for whatever season of crisis you’re going through.
