Many (if not most) women today are- often unintentionally and without realizing it- undernourishing to the point that our basic biological needs are not being met. Exhausted, anxious, and chasing down symptom after symptom, we are spending time, energy, and money on hormone testing, microbiome analysis, genetic sequencing, supplement protocols, etc. all while unknowingly not taking in enough calories and/or micronutrients for our bodies to work properly in the first place. Our culture today is awash in contradictory health information, food fear, warped wellness idealogies, and impossible beauty standards, but confusion around food and bodies goes back to at least our grandmothers' generation. We inherit nourishment beliefs and practices just as we inherit our mineral and nutrient stores. Ashley Wulkan- mother, herbalist, nutritionist, and mineral balancing practitioner- and I wish to simplify nourishment for women, not add to the noise. We do this for not only ourselves but for our collective mothers who never overcame their own food issues, and for our collective daughters who we fervently pray will adequately nourish themselves and their descendents far into the future. Let's rewrite the story. On this week's episode we talk to Don Wells, the Chief Empowerment Officer at Just In Time, which is a San Diego based organization working to support and mentor older foster youth on their path to adulthood. President Trump signed an executive order on foster care at the end of 2025 which instructed his Department of Health and Human Services on some priorities for federal policy around improved data and evaluation, more support for older foster youth, and more efforts to include faith-based persons and organizations in child welfare services. The Imprint recently published an op-ed from Wells, who felt that the president's order misses the mark on what is needed from the federal government to better support foster youth. He joined the podcast to speak further about his views on the Trump order, about what Just in Time does on the community level to help foster youth, and more. Read about The Freedom Project here Schedule a call with Gary to learn more about The Freedom Project here This Dead Talk episode is a channeled teaching on inner freedom after trauma, guided by two historical figures: Etty Hillesum (young Jewish diarist who wrote from Westerbork and later Auschwitz) and Václav Havel (Czech dissident who became the first president of the Czech Republic after the Velvet Revolution). The core theme: freedom doesn't come from being unhurt or from circumstances improving—it comes from no longer organizing life around the wound. Etty found freedom inside a collapsing world (Holocaust reality). Havel found freedom inside an oppressive structure (communism), and lived long enough to see inner freedom reflected outward in social change. The main teaching: trauma is not the event They redefine trauma as not what happened, and not even the pain. Trauma is: the moment life became smaller to survive, the internal contraction that says: I must be less open, feel less, expect less, risk less. This contraction becomes an internal “government” that continues long after the danger passes. It decides what you can feel, hope for, explore, or trust. In that sense, trauma is protective, intelligent, temporary by design—but it becomes limiting when it interferes with love, presence, and the ability to be touched by something good. Freedom, they say, is not “healing trauma” as a project. It's outgrowing it by restoring your range: what you're willing to feel, how much you're willing to love, how much you're willing to let in. “Imprint” vs trauma They introduce a second layer: imprint—fear and limitation installed before you had direct experience or choice. Imprints come from: parents, culture, religion, schooling, media, authority, warnings and stories that the child's body stores as reality, not information, and sometimes genetic or past-life residue. Because imprint fear is “older” than the current opportunity, it cannot be reasoned away. It must be met. The body is reacting to memory, not to now. Examples of common imprints: Money: “money runs out,” “never enough,” “security requires effort.” Authority: “I'll get in trouble,” “rules protect me from myself.” Love: “if I'm fully myself, I'll be left,” “connection is fragile.” Body/health: “symptoms mean danger,” “aging means decline.” Visibility/expression: “being free has consequences.” They note the irony: many listeners are not materially poor, yet their nervous systems are “poor” from imprinting. Practical guidance they offer They emphasize this is not a heavy “healing session,” but a noticing: “Who are you now that your nervous system no longer needs to lead your life?” “What became unavailable that might now be safe to reopen?” Key practices: Acknowledge the story as a helper “Thank you for helping me survive. You don't need to work so hard anymore.” The story persists when it doesn't feel recognized. Replace “Why did this happen?” with “What's happening now?” “Why” pulls you into the past; “now” returns you to presence. When you feel righteous/need to be right: check the body Righteousness can signal you're inside a trauma loop—trading aliveness for certainty. Ask: “What does this story allow me to avoid risking?” Trauma stories often protect you from the vulnerability of expansion. Use proximity, not coercion Don't force yourself through fear. Sit with it, let the body learn safety gradually. Talk to fear without consulting it “I see you're afraid. Thank you for trying to keep me safe. We don't have to decide today.” They make a key distinction: overriding fear to do something “wild” isn't necessarily expansion—real expansion honors safety and lets fear soften through presence. Group field moment There's a vivid description of the group's energetic field: an oval, forward-oriented, permeable, slate-blue/soft gold tone—mature, coherent, grounded, not organized around wounds. “Connection without dependency; individuality without isolation.” Humor appears as a low “center of gravity”—less seriousness, more embodied decision-making. Etty's “inner tower” and the role of acceptance Etty explains her awakening in the camps: it wasn't dramatic kundalini-style; it began when she accepted the war would not end in time for her. That acceptance removed hope-as-victimhood and opened an “inner tower” (a state of unassailable coherence). The tower wasn't protection—it was perspective. She remembered a dimension of being untouched by threat, time, or harm. Her line: “Belief didn't save me. My alignment did.” The episode closes with a powerful reframing: At first, releasing struggle doesn't feel like a rush—it feels like an exhale, a spaciousness. That space can feel unsettling because struggle used to provide identity. Eventually you see how “future safety” becomes comical—presence is the only real safety.
A McGill University study found that childhood adversity combined with altered brain insulin signaling increases metabolic disease risk in women, even before clinical signs like diabetes or heart disease appear Early stress reprograms brain regions that govern reward, impulse control, and energy balance, raising visceral fat storage and disrupting insulin sensitivity decades after the original stress occurred Women with higher brain insulin signaling activity were more vulnerable to metabolic harm from childhood stress, showing greater fat gain and a higher risk for metabolic syndrome than men Stress-related metabolic disruption often remains undetected because changes like visceral fat buildup and inflammation occur below standard clinical thresholds, delaying recognition until the disease is more advanced Reducing ongoing stress, improving insulin sensitivity, limiting linoleic acid (LA) intake, restoring energy production, and supporting hormonal balance can help counteract early stress and lower long-term metabolic risk

As we continue an exciting new year of Fostering Change, this episode centers on possibility — what happens when lived experience, research, and belief in young people come together to rewrite outcomes. This week, Rob Scheer is joined by Dr. (Candidate) Shanté Elliott, a learning scientist, social innovator, and founder of TasselTurn — an organization reimagining how children in foster care and students experiencing housing insecurity move through school, graduation, and the transition to adulthood.Having experienced foster care herself, Shanté brings rare and powerful insight to her work. She blends academic research, technology, and deep empathy to help children in foster care not only stay in school, but truly see themselves as capable, worthy, and supported. What began in 2020 with a $300 grant has grown into a nationally recognized platform connecting young people with coaching, mentorship, and meaningful incentives tied to educational milestones. Now a PhD candidate at Northwestern University, Shanté has been recognized as a Forbes Changemaker, L'Oréal Paris Woman of Worth, and Echoing Green Fellow, with her work featured in Forbes, The Imprint, and Reader's Digest. In this conversation, she shares how education — when paired with trust and opportunity — can become a powerful pathway to stability, confidence, and economic mobility for children in foster care.

On this week's episode, Imprint reporter Michael Fitzgerald was in Washington last week to interview Alex Adams, who was confirmed in October to serve as the Assistant Secretary for Family Support at the Administration for Children and Families.Fitzgerald asked Adams about a wide range of subjects. They discussed the administration's goal of “A Home for Every Child” and how Adams plans to achieve that; how and why he plans to "barbecue" much of the regulatory language for states when it comes to federal funding and practice; why the administration has made demands that states roll back policies that are meant to protect LGBTQ+ youth; the role of kinship caregivers; and much more. Here's The Caveat... Intentional Leadership with Coach Bob Reish
Welcome to another episode of Here's the Caveat, the podcast that doesn't just talk about leadership, but challenges you to live it. Today we're diving into something deceptively simple, but incredibly powerful: the moments in life that become stamps in time.”“You know the ones I'm talking about, those seemingly small, ordinary moments that end up marking you, shaping you, redirecting you. The moments you don't recognize as significant until much later, when you look back and say, ‘That was it. That was the turning point.'”“Today isn't about big headlines or dramatic turning points. It's about the quiet impressions God leaves on our lives, the ones that stay pressed into our memory, our character, and our calling. A stamp in time tells a story: where you were, who you were, and the moment everything started to shift.”“So sit back, lean in, and let's talk about how the smallest moments can leave the deepest marks and how recognizing those stamps can change the way you lead, love, and live. Let's get started.”

Latonia Rolbiecki, a Minnesota mother of three, died last month at the age of 48. Several years ago, Rolbiecki was the subject of an Imprint series about her fight to adopt her grandson after he was taken into foster care at birth. Rolbiecki lost that legal battle, and her grandson was adopted by non-relative foster parents. On this week's episode we reflect back on the series, “Latonia vs. Chisago County,” and what her experience reflects about the child welfare system. We also talk to Grace Yung Foster, founder and CEO of The Inclusion Initiative, about her organization's upcoming leadership summit for people who have experienced foster care or adoption. Grace Yung Foster founded The Inclusion Initiative in 2023. Before that she served as a fundraising consultant and as senior director of development for Vote.org.Reading RoomTrump, Kids and Families: Register for Freehttps://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_jEyQQz_3R4Giv3J_LkZS5w#/registrationLatonia vs. Chisago Countyhttps://imprintnews.org/special-series/latonia-chisago-countyFighting for Kinhttps://imprintnews.org/special-series/fighting-for-kinNana Kept Her Grandkids out of Foster Care. Since July, a new streamlined process in Washington allows family members of children in the foster care system to become licensed caregivers. As first reported in the Imprint, the change allows "kinship caregivers" to receive resources that were initially not available to them. The updates made by the state of Washington come after federal policy changes made under the Biden administration to allow states to come up with their own licensing standards. Ruben Reeves is the assistant secretary of licensing for Washington's Department of Children, Youth and Family. Jeanine Tacchini is the agency's deputy assistant secretary of licensing. They both join us to share what this streamlined process has meant for youth in foster care.

Your posture isn't random nor is it a a flaw.It is a family story your body's been carrying for generations. In this episode of The Sovereign Sisterhood Movement Podcast, I share how generational trauma doesn't just live in memories—it lives in your bones, muscles, fascia, and spine. The way your shoulders roll forward when you're tired of carrying everyone's pain…The way your jaw tightens when you silence yourself to keep peace…The way your spine bends under guilt that was never yours to carry—These are not random habits. They're inherited postures. They tell the story of how love, duty, and survival intertwined through generations of women before you.And once you learn to listen to your body this way, healing stops being abstract—it becomes personal, alive, and sacred.CONTEXT | The Science + Spirituality of HealingFrom here, I guide you into the deeper understanding of why the body holds so much.I blend Kundalini Yoga Therapy, nervous-system science, and Christ Consciousness to help you see how trauma reshapes both the body and the brain—and how restoring your structure is how you restore your lineage. You'll learn how:The musculoskeletal system mirrors family roles and emotional inheritance.Fascia stores unspoken memories like an electrical web around every cell. The gut reveals how safely you can “digest” love, guilt, and life itself. The immune and lymphatic systems show where emotion has stopped flowing. And the spine—your inner ladder of resurrection—is the bridge where heaven meets earth. As we move through the science and the sacred, you'll begin to see that your symptoms are not signs of weakness. They're your lineage trying to communicate. And through breathwork, yoga, and forgiveness, you can rewire the nervous system and release the emotional architecture that kept generations in survival mode.PERMISSION | Your Body Is Not Broken—It's a TempleAnd this is where it all comes together.Because healing isn't about fixing what's wrong—it's about remembering who you are.By the end of this episode, you'll understand that you were never meant to carry the weight of the Mother Line—you were born to resurrect it.When one woman stands tall in truth, her entire lineage rises with her. You'll leave knowing:“My body isn't my prison. It's my bridge back to God.”Inside The Sovereign Sisterhood Sanctuary, women like you are remembering how to heal seven generations before and after through nervous system regulation, brain rewiring, and Christ-centered embodiment. It's where the body becomes what it was always meant to be—a temple of remembrance, a vessel of light, and the living proof that love never dies—it just waits for one woman to set it free.CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT JOINING THE SANCTUARY: https://subscribepage.io/jnkwzV Join us in our Free Private Facebook Group Community: / sovereignsisterhoodmovement 00:00 Introduction: The Body's Silent Story00:45 Welcome to the Sovereign Sisterhood Movement01:35 Exploring Generational Trauma01:48 The Musculoskeletal System and Trauma03:08 Understanding Structural Change and Consciousness06:02 The Role of Fascia in Storing Trauma08:12 Impact of Trauma on the Musculoskeletal System08:26 The ZOS Muscle and Trauma20:50 Emotional Armory and Muscular Holding Patterns30:18 The Digestive System and Emotional Stress37:15 Kundalini Yoga for Healing Trauma40:40 Trusting Your Hunger and Nourishment41:24 Healing the Nervous System and Trauma42:16 The Immune and Lymphatic Systems44:51 Emotional Inflammation and Autoimmune Disorders47:14 Generational Trauma and the Mother Wound53:36 The Spine: Axis of Divine Connection59:01 Resurrection and Kundalini Energy01:03:01 Healing Through Kundalini Yoga01:08:19 The Body as a Temple01:11:44 Conclusion and Invitation to Sovereign Sister Sanctuary
What does it take to run engineering at the heart of modern fintech? In this episode of Fintech Layer Cake, Imprint CTO Will Larson unpacks lessons from leading engineering teams at Stripe, Carta, Calm, Uber, and more. Will shares how fintech engineering differs from SaaS, the tradeoffs executives face when joining new companies, and why the art of leadership lies in balancing seemingly incompatible frameworks, moving fast while preserving reliability, innovating while managing legacy systems. He also dives into the hype and reality of large language models (LLMs). Will explains why today's “AI engineers” may simply be tomorrow's product engineers, why prompt-crafting is more artisanal than strategic, and how agentic tools could redefine workflows. From the shifting expectations of tech executives over three decades to what really drives innovation inside scaling companies, this conversation is equal parts practical and forward-looking. For anyone navigating fintech engineering or curious about the future of AI in product development, Will offers a grounded perspective on what matters most.
Dating app popularity soared during the pandemic, but usage and growth have dropped sharply since. Drew Glicker, Head of Product at Imprint, joins Double Take to discuss whether AI could spark a comeback or if the industry is facing a long-term reset, and what this could mean for investors.

If you've listened to this show for any length of time, and most likely even if you haven't, you know the US legal system all too often fails domestic abuse survivors, especially women, children, and adolescents. My guest, Professor Dale Margolin Cecka, knows it all too well. Professor Cecka is an advocate for women, children, and teens who have survived domestic abuse. Not only that, but she's also a law professor, former Superior Court senior staff attorney, former Assistant Attorney General of Georgia, and the Director of Albany Law School's Family Violence Litigation Clinic. For this episode, I talked with Professor Cecka about her experience and expertise, and many related topics.
