When we start to cut out major food groups like protein we can really start to swing our hormones and the processes in our body, when we start to cut out things like carbs, or fats, and most of my nutrition training was based on low calorie, low protein, low carbs, low fats. And after a couple years of doing that myself and coaching other people to do that, I realized that is the absolute equation for feeling like crap, just keeping your calories low. And in a deficit all the time, will make it very hard to have the energy that you need to just be a human being and deal with the things you need to in life. That doesn't even include getting up and going after the things you really want. And having extra fun and energy to even hang out with your kids and all the things that we need energy fo.We're living beings that have so many different processes going on. And if we're not getting the nutrition and the fuel we need for those things, we're going to feel like crap, the flag that your body's trying to throw up, there is a big signal, it's a big red flag, it's saying, we don't have enough and you are requiring more than we have energy in the tank for more than our battery will handle.In this episode we are also talking about taking the horse by the reins, figuring out what you need to do to change your health. And go get your full panel of labs done so you know where you are at to begin with.What is your energy like?When you workout are you recovering well? Do you feel sore all the time? Everybody loves being a little sore from a workout, you should not always be sore and you shouldn't be working out those same muscles when you're sore and you shouldn't be compounding energy expenditure on sore muscles, on lack of sleep, and on bad nutrition. So the last one on my list is anxiety. And this is so big. I think that we refer to a lot of things as anxiety, we we feel overwhelmed we feel we look at our list or we have our list in our mind the things that we're supposed to do and our brain starts racing. And like I talked about before, it's hard for women to women to compartmentalize and to have a one track mind. Again, we aren't men, our brains don't function that way. We think about all the things all the time and the anxiety that you're feeling, that is biofeedback, that is your body and brain telling you we are at our limit. We this is too much for us and it's a time where you should sit and stop and try to relax. But if that isn't something that you're used to doing, if that is not a hobby I bet that you have formed, it's gonna be really hard, I used to not even be able to sit in, I have an amazing backyard with a beautiful pool and nice palm trees, landscaping, everything, and we've set it all up and I thought this would be is gonna be so amazing, I'm going to be able to sit out here and just take a break and enjoy myself anytime. And I go out there, and my husband would just count down the seconds it would take before I was up and working and doing something in the yard or the pool or what however, because I couldn't just relax and take it easy. And I know we all have fate we all face that even on vacation. It's hard for me. In this episode Emily talks about your appetite changing because this is a major player in where our metabolic function and where you might start to see stress induced weight gain happening. And when we look at these things, we think, you know, what comes first the chicken or the egg?
