Welcome to Ideology, a podcast where we explore the power of ideas and look at the underlying intellectual and theological frameworks that have given rise to the contours of our modern society. We chose "Ideology" for its etymology (idea, or pattern; + logos, or word/discourse). It is the science of ideas, the pattern of discourse that impacts how we perceive reality. Our goal is to look under the hood and evaluate how the ideologies of the past have influenced where we are today. This is both a diagnosis but also a hopeful prognosis as we project forward into the future.

    Ivy Insights

The Ideology podcast is a refreshing and thought-provoking show that delves into deeply important issues that often go unnoticed in mainstream media. This podcast provides clear and accessible conversations that encourage listeners to zoom out and critically examine their worldview. It is truly a gem in a sea of noise, offering an invaluable platform for discussions on topics that deserve more airtime.

One of the best aspects of The Ideology podcast is its ability to slow down and ask questions that help us think through how we view the world. The hosts, Mick and Drew, are brilliant in their ability to shed light on the quickly evolving discourse in western society. Their conversations not only provide valuable insights but also point back to God's Word and the teachings of Jesus. This unique combination makes for compelling episodes that offer both intellectual stimulation and spiritual guidance.

Another wonderful aspect of this podcast is its relevance to millennials like myself who are trying to make sense of this world while following Jesus. Mick and Drew tackle cultural changes head-on, providing language, perspective, and context to help us understand how our thinking is influenced by society. They offer quality information with brevity, making it easy for listeners to digest complex concepts without feeling overwhelmed. In essence, this podcast equips us with the tools needed to navigate the cultural influence over the church and foster spiritual growth within our society.

While The Ideology podcast is outstanding in many ways, it does have its limitations. One potential downside is that it may not appeal to those who do not share a Christian perspective or desire to anchor themselves in the kingdom of God. The heavy reliance on God's Word and teachings could deter some listeners who are seeking a more secular analysis of societal issues. However, for those who value faith-based discussions, this aspect adds immense value to the show.

In conclusion, The Ideology podcast is an essential listen for anyone looking to engage with important topics often overlooked by mainstream media. It offers clear and accessible conversations that point back to God's Word and teachings, making it a valuable resource for Christians seeking guidance in a rapidly changing world. Mick and Drew's brilliance in unpacking cultural discourse and providing tools for critical thinking is truly commendable. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who wants to broaden their perspective and deepen their understanding of the world around them.

In this episode of the Ideology Podcast, Drew and Mick reflect on an unexpected and encouraging trend in American spirituality—particularly among Gen Z. Despite cultural decline in church affiliation in recent decades, new data shows a surprising and significant reversal: a growing hunger for Jesus among young adults. Why is this happening? What has shifted in our culture, and how do we understand it biblically and pastorally? Drew and Mick unpack the factors driving this trend, including the spiritual void left by secularism, the collapse of the "secular gospel," and the longing for connection, meaning, and transcendence. They reflect on how the pandemic acted as an accelerant, exposing the bankruptcy of materialism and opening hearts to the eternal.Along the way, they explore deep theological themes like the nature of sin, the loss of self apart from God, and the hope found only in the person of Jesus Christ. Drawing from thinkers like Augustine and Athanasius, they articulate a vision of Christian anthropology that contrasts starkly with the self-focused, therapeutic culture of our time. This is an episode about revival, not in hype but in real hunger—and how the Church can be a winsome life raft rather than a culture warrior on a sinking ship.Connect with us:Email: ideologypc@gmail.comYoutube/Instagram: @ideologypcFeel free to share, subscribe, rate, and/or comment.Resources referenced or alluded to:On the Incarnation by AthanasiusConfessions by AugustineThe Abolition of Man by C.S. But this conversation is a bit different. How do we navigate the tension between faith and reason, between historical evidence and personal belief? The episode explores these challenges and asks critical questions about the foundations of truth. Is apologetics a way to strengthen our faith, or could it inadvertently lead us to rely too heavily on human reason?Listen in as Drew and Mick unpack how we justify belief, from cosmological and teleological arguments to historical evidence of the resurrection.
