Daily Emunah Podcast - Daily Emunah By Rabbi David Ashear

https://www.artscroll.com/ Books/lemynh.html Living Emunah on Yamim Noraim Gaining faith from the Days of Awe A man told that from the moment his baby came home after his Brit Milah, he wouldn't stop crying. Nothing could calm him down. He would eat, doze, and immediately wake up crying again. It was obvious that something was hurting him, but nobody knew what it was. All different kinds of advice began coming their way. One person suggested one type of doctor, another suggested a type of counselor, another an allergy specialist. All of those professionals were prepared to see their baby, but for a high cost and a lot of effort on their part. The man said to himself, "Let me first set up a meeting with the Healer of All Flesh." The man wanted to dedicate an hour to the meeting, no less than he would if he were meeting some professional. He prepared for the meeting. He got dressed up. He took time out from work and sat at a table saying Tehillim . He had a full one-hour meeting with the greatest doctor of all. Before the hour was up, his mother-in-law called his wife and told her about a new idea she had just heard about, something they could try right away. His wife listened to the advice and immediately the baby was quiet. The baby slept for several hours and since then has been calm and happy. The problem was resolved. When we have the right approach with Hashem, all of His messengers suddenly "change their tune". A man told me he had to go with his father on Shabbat to the hospital in a Hatzalah truck, because the Hatzalah told them he needed a PICC line to get certain vital nutrients. They arrived at the hospital and had to wait for the cardiovascular team to arrive. They waited there the entire night, but the team still didn't come. In the morning, the man went to see if there was some type of Bikur Cholim room where he could find food for Shabbat. From the time that he left the hospital room until the time he got back was about 45 minutes. When he got back, the nurse told him he had missed the cardiovascular team. They were not able to put in the PICC line without his permission and so they left. She said they would be back the following day. The man couldn't believe his ears. He was waiting the entire night for them, and now he missed them? He started to cry. The nurse apologized, but said they were there more than a half hour ago and this was their last stop before they went home. The man was going to have a fit, but instead he decided to take the emunah approach. He went into a corner and began speaking to Hashem. He said, "Hashem, you brought me away from my family for Shabbat. I don't have my shul. I don't have my learning. I don't have my seudot, and now we didn't get the PICC line either. If you want me to come here just to spend the entire Shabbat in a hospital, then I'm going to do it b'simcha ." He strengthened himself and accepted the will of Hashem with happiness. Just a few minutes later, the cardiovascular team showed up. They said they decided to come back and try one more time. This man made the correct approach with Hashem and, suddenly, the messengers followed suit. Another man said he lost a business account and tried his hardest to accept it with love. Instead of not going out to learn that night, he pushed himself to add a second class. The next day his mortgage company called him and told him about an escrow surplus check that they sent a full year ago that never got cashed. The amount was more than the commission that he usually earned for the entire year from the account he lost. It's true we have to make hishtadlut in the way of the world, but when we first go to Hashem and accomplish what we need to with Him, everything else falls into place afterward.

Gojira is a French juggernaut has been pushing the boundaries of metal for over two decades, evolving from a death metal outfit into a genre-defying force. In this episode, Jay and Modd take on the monumental task of ranking Gojira's albums from least favorite to most beloved, a challenge that's sure to ignite some passionate debates among fans. Jay and Modd reflect on how Gojira has consistently pushed the boundaries of metal, blending brutal riffs with complex song structures and deep lyrical content. The ranking starts with Gojira's earlier work, where Jay and Modd delve into the raw and unpolished energy of their debut album, *Terra Incognita* (2001). While not as refined as their later efforts, *Terra Incognita* showcases the band's potential and hints at the greatness to come. Moving on, the discussion shifts to *The Link* (2003), an album that marked a significant step forward for the band in terms of both songwriting and production. Jay and Modd explore the themes of spirituality and nature that permeate the album, as well as the intricate rhythms and guitar work that would become hallmarks of Gojira's sound. As the ranking continues, the hosts tackle *From Mars to Sirius* (2005), the album that catapulted Gojira to international fame. Jay and Modd reminisce about the first time they heard the crushing riffs of “Flying Whales” and the anthemic power of “Backbone.” Next up is *The Way of All Flesh* (2008), an album that delves into themes of mortality and the human condition. Jay and Modd analyze the darker, more introspective tone of the album, noting how tracks like “Oroborus” and “Esoteric Surgery” showcase the band's ability to blend technical complexity with emotional depth. As the episode progresses, Jay and Modd dive into *L'Enfant Sauvage* (2012), an album that balances Gojira's trademark heaviness with a newfound sense of melody and atmosphere. The hosts explore how the band refined their sound on this record, producing some of their most memorable tracks like the title track “L'Enfant Sauvage” and “The Gift of Guilt.” The discussion then turns to *Magma* (2016), a pivotal album that marked a significant shift in Gojira's sound. Jay and Modd delve into the personal tragedies that influenced the album, particularly the loss of the Duplantier brothers' mother, which brought a new level of emotional intensity to their music. The hosts discuss how *Magma*'s more streamlined approach and focus on melody alienated some fans but attracted a whole new audience. They analyze tracks like “Stranded” and “Silvera,” noting how the album's introspective lyrics and atmospheric soundscapes represent a bold evolution for the band. Finally, the ranking reaches Gojira's most recent release, *Fortitude* (2021). Jay and Modd examine how the album builds on the foundations of *Magma* while incorporating elements from the band's earlier work. They discuss the album's themes of resilience and environmental activism, as well as standout tracks like “Born for One Thing” and “Amazonia.” The hosts reflect on how *Fortitude* continues Gojira's tradition of pushing boundaries, both musically and thematically, and how it cements their status as one of metal's most forward-thinking bands. Throughout the episode, Jay and Modd share their personal experiences with Gojira's music, recounting memorable concert experiences and how certain albums impacted their lives. They also engage in lively debates about the ranking, with each host bringing their own unique perspective to the discussion. As the episode draws to a close, Jay and Modd encourage listeners to share their own rankings and thoughts on Gojira's discography. Whether you're a longtime Gojira fan or new to their music, this episode of The Metal Maniacs Podcast offers a comprehensive and entertaining look at one of metal's most innovative bands. From Crisis to Crisis - The Married Years (A Superman and Lois Podcast)

Welcome to the two hundredth and sixty-eighth episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast!  This podcast has a simple premise; examine just about every Superman comic published between Man of Steel #1 in 1986 to Adventures of Superman #649 in 2006 in an informative and hopefully entertaining format. This time out Mike and Jeff look at the Superman related books that came out with a November 1996 cover date that weren't part of the Final Night event. Those books include Superman: The Man of Steel Annual #5, Superboy and the Ravers #3, Showcase '96 #10, Steel #32, and Justice League: A Midsummers Nightmare #3. After that they look at the first seven (or five, depending on how you want to look at it) episodes of Superman: The Animated Series, which premiered in September of 1996. Episodes discussed are The Last Son of Krypton Parts 1 thru 3, Fun and Games, A Little Piece of Home, Feeding Time, and The Way of All Flesh. For grins, they end their animated talk by chatting about the first issue of the tie-in comics Superman Adventures. Finally, they discuss Lord of the Flys and Battleground Earth, which are the first two episodes of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Season 4. Mike would like to take this opportunity to apologize to those listeners that like or love the two episodes of Lois and Clark discussed in this episode. He did not like them and he was not shy about expressing this opinion. 1Corinthians 12:1: “Concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant.” 1Cor 12:31, 14:1: “Earnestly DESIRE the best gifts... Pursue love and DESIRE spiritual GIFTS.” We need to KNOW what God's Word teaches about these gifts, and this will cause us to DESIRE these gifts to operate in our lives, so that the Spirit may flow through us to bless others. When we DESIRE to be used in the gifts, we will make ourselves AVAILABLE to the Spirit, for Him to manifest Himself through us. “The Manifestation of the SPIRIT is given to EACH ONE for the profit of all. To one is given (1) the WORD of WISDOM through the Spirit, to another (2) the WORD of KNOWLEDGE through the same Spirit, to another (3) FAITH by the same Spirit, to another (4) GIFTS of HEALINGS by the same Spirit, to another (5) the WORKING of MIRACLES, to another (6) PROPHECY, to another (7) DISCERNING of SPIRITS, to another (8) different kinds of TONGUES, to another (9) the INTERPRETATION of TONGUES. The SPIRIT works all these things, distributing to each one individually as HE WILLS” (v7-11). *The 3 REVELATION GIFTS (Spirit of knowing): (1) The WORD of WISDOM, (2) the WORD of KNOWLEDGE, and (3) DISCERNING of SPIRITS. These involve supernaturally KNOWING things by the Spirit, that we could not know otherwise. *The 3 POWER GIFTS (Spirit of doing): (1) Special FAITH, (2) GIFTS of HEALINGS, and (3) WORKING of MIRACLES. These involve doing things by the supernatural power of the Spirit, that we could not do by our own faith or ability. *The 3 VOCAL, INSPIRATION or UTTERANCE GIFTS (Spirit of speaking): (1) Different kinds of TONGUES, (2) the INTERPRETATION of TONGUES, and (3) PROPHECY, when the Spirit speaks supernaturally thru someone, a message from God, under the Spirit's inspiration. CESSATIONISM is a false teaching that says these supernatural gifts are no longer for today, for God stopped giving them once all the apostles died and Scripture was completed. But the Bible says these gifts will continue until Jesus' Return. 1Cor 1:4-8: “you were enriched in everything by Him in all UTTERANCE (the utterance gifts) and all KNOWLEDGE (the revelation gifts), even as the testimony of Christ was CONFIRMED in (among) you (by the power gifts in signs, wonders and miracles), so that you come short in no GIFT, eagerly waiting for the Revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Thus, all the GIFTS will continue to enrich the Church until the END of the Church Age, when JESUS will be REVEALED to us in the Rapture. Jesus said: “these (supernatural) SIGNS will follow those who BELIEVE: in My Name they will cast out demons (a POWER gift); they will speak with new tongues (an UTTERANCE gift); they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover (all examples of POWER gifts)” (Mark 16:17-18). He also said: “he who BELIEVES in ME, the WORKS that I DO he will DO also; and greater works than these he will do” (John 14:12-13). He promises as we go in obedience to fulfil the Great Commission, He will be WITH US providing supernatural confirmation of the Gospel, and will continue to do this until the END of the CHURCH AGE (Matt 28:18-20). The Last Days started at Christ's Resurrection and continue throughout the Church Age into the Millennium. Acts 2:16-19: “This (outpouring of the Spirit) was spoken by Joel: “It shall come to pass in the LAST DAYS, says God, that I will POUR out of My SPIRIT on ALL FLESH; your sons and daughters shall PROPHESY (an UTTERANCE gift), your young men shall SEE VISIONS, your old men shall DREAM DREAMS (these are REVELATION gifts). And on My menservants and maidservants, I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall PROPHESY. I will show WONDERS in Heaven above and SIGNS in the earth beneath (POWER gifts).” The purpose of this outpouring and associated supernatural Signs is given in Acts 2:21. He then explained how Joel's Prophecy came into fulfilment in Acts 2:32-33, and how they could receive this promise of the Spirit and His gifts in their own lives in Acts 2:38. Based on Joel, he declared this Promise of the Spirit and His gifts is for ALL BELIEVERS in the LAST DAYS, including all future generations in the Church Age (Acts 2:39). So, to say the gifts are not for today contradicts God's Word. 1Corinthians 13:8-12: “Love never fails. But whether there are PROPHECIES, they will FAIL; whether there are TONGUES, they will CEASE; whether there is (a WORD of) KNOWLEDGE, it will VANISH away (the GIFTS will pass away one day). For we know IN PART and we prophesy IN PART. But WHEN that which is PERFECT has come, THEN that which is IN PART will be DONE AWAY....For NOW, we see in a mirror dimly, but THEN FACE to FACE. NOW I know IN PART, but THEN I shall KNOW (perfectly) just as I also am known.” As far as we are concerned, the gifts will only pass away WHEN we enter into PERFECTION (v10), which is defined as being when we see the Lord FACE to FACE at His Return - then we will have perfect knowledge (v12).

We also play a game we designed just for Greg, Survival: The Musical. THE END OF ALL FLESH (by Greg Kotis) The End of All Flesh is a rollicking post-apocalyptic fable unfolding on a remote mountain top sometime in America's distant future. Having made it through the End Times, Ma and Pa fight to keep themselves and their son, Boy, alive, by hunting, gathering, and maintaining a healthy distrust of strangers. But Boy's near grown now, and his new friend Girl is putting some mighty funny ideas in his head about familial hierarchies and the Patriarchy. Expect plenty of picking (and some grim grinning) in a concert reading of a new dark comedy that explores environmental collapse, gender norms, generation gaps, survivalist practices, and the creative potential of a pandemic beard...in song! Episode 188: Why Translation Matters with Dr. Anne Phillips

The Literary Life Podcast

On The Literary Life podcast today we are pleased to bring you a special episode focusing on the importance of a good translation when reading works originally written in other languages. Angelina, Cindy and Thomas are joined for this conversation by Dr. Anne Phillips, who has a BA in Latin and Greek and a Doctorate in Classical Studies and teaches Latin at the House of Humane Letters. They start out with the question of basic principles for determining what makes a good translation. Angelina brings up C. S. Lewis' review of Fitzgerald's translation of The Odyssey and the principles he sets forth. Anne shares her experience with reading classic works in their original languages and how much richer and more enjoyable it is for her. Another topic they cover is the challenge of translating poetry. Angelina, Thomas, and Anne both share some of their least liked translations of classical Greek and Latin works, as well as some recommendations for better translations. They also talk about finding good translations of Old English and Middle English works. Thomas is also teaching a webinar along with Michael Williams on the modern poets W. H. Auden and T. S. Eliot on September 28th. You can now register at House of Humane Letters. Commonplace Quotes: He had the successful portrait painters essential gift and saw men, with few exceptions, as they liked to see themselves. C. V. Wedgwood In my opinion value-judgements in literature should not be hurried. It does a student little good to be told that A is better than B, especially if he prefers B at the time. He has to feel values for himself, and should follow his individual rhythm in doing  so. In the meantime, he can read almost anything in any order, just as he can eat mixtures of food that would have his elders reaching for the baking soda. A sensible teaching or librarian can soon learn how to give guidance to a youth's reading that allows for undeveloped taste and still doesn't turn him into a gourmet or a dyspeptic before his time. Northrop Frye A good translation is one that lets Homer sing. Thomas Banks There is a sense in which everything is untranslatable. A man may write what is as good or even better than the original, but from the nature of the case it cannot be precisely the same thing. There are even moments when one feels it is something of a desecration to translate at all, but that is surely over-scrupulous, a weakness which, if all had yielded to it, would certainly have left the world poorer. Walter Headlam Ode 5, Book 1: To Pyrrha by Horace, trans. by John Milton What slender youth, bedew'd with liquid odors, Courts thee on roses in some pleasant cave, Pyrrha? For whom bind'st thou In wreaths thy golden hair, Plain in thy neatness? O how oft shall he Of faith and changed gods complain, and seas Rough with black winds, and storms Unwonted shall admire! Who now enjoys thee credulous, all gold, Who, always vacant, always amiable Hopes thee, of flattering gales Unmindful. Hapless they To whom thou untried seem'st fair. Me, in my vow'd Picture, the sacred wall declares to have hung My dank and dropping weeds To the stern god of sea. Books Mentioned: Velvet Studies by C. V. Wedgwood The Educated Imagination by Northrop Frye The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner by James Hogg The Way of All Flesh by Samuel Butler The Children's Homer by Padraic Colum The Odyssey trans. by Richmond Lattimore The Iliad trans. by Richmond Lattimore The Aeneid trans. by Sarah Ruden A. WE AS JOHN Q. PUBLIC OF AMERICA ALL NEED AN UNCHAINABLE SOLID HOPE IN THIS WORLD THAT WE CAN NOT ONLY HANG OUR HAT ON BUT THAT CAN BE AN EVERLASTING VISION THAT WE CAN KEEP SEEKING AFTER, AMIDST OUR DUTIES HERE ON EARTH, AND IS NOT GOING TO BE LIKE A WITHERING GRASS OR A FADING FLOWER AND WHAT MIGHT THAT BE: ISAIAH 40: [6] The voice said, CRY, And he said, What shall I cry? All FLESH is GRASS, and ALL the GOODLINESS thereof is as the FLOWER of the field: [7] The GRASS WITHERETH, the FLOWER FADETH: BECAUSE the SPIRIT of the LORD BLOWETH upon it: SURELY the PEOPLE is GRASS. [8] The GRASS WITHERETH, the FLOWER FADETH: BUT the WORD of OUR GOD shall STAND FOREVER. UNLIKE THE FASTFOOD FREEWILL DOCTRINE, THE BONDAGE OF THE WILL DOCTRINE REQUIRES THAT WE BE OVERCOMERS AND YET OUR OVERCOMING IS PARADOXICALLY PREDESTINED. LET US LOOK AT SOME OF THESE PROMISES THAT WILL BE FULFILLED IN OUR LIFE IF WE OVERCOME. JESUS SPEAKING: REV. 3: [19] As MANY as I(JESUS) LOVE, I REBUKE and CHASTEN: “BE ZEALOUS” therefore, and “REPENT”. [20] BEHOLD, I STAND at the DOOR, and KNOCK: “IF” any man “HEAR” my VOICE, and open the door, I(JESUS) “WILL COME” IN TO him, and WILL SUP with him, and he with me. [21] To HIM that OVERCOMETH (HERE IS THE PROMISE) will I GRANT to SIT with ME in MY THRONE, even as I(JESUS) also OVERCAME, and am set down with my Father in his throne. [22] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. HOW ABOUT THAT FOR A FUTURE PROMISE. THERE IS NO U HAUL TRAILER BEHIND THE HEARST WE WILL BE IN, BUT “THE WORD OF GOD”(JESUS) HIS WORD WILL STAND FOREVER. SOUNDS LIKE OVERCOMING WILL BE WORTH IT. WHAT SAY YOU?

Tests Prove Who is the Bride (8) (Audio) David Eells - 6/19/22  Open Doors Allow Distractions and Demons Claire Pienaar - 12/31/21 (David's notes in red) I dreamed Riaan had been out all night and I left the front security gate open with the keys inside it for him. I switched off the lights and got under the bed covers. Our room was completely white and we had a really plush down feather comforter… (Representing resting in comfort of the Holy Spirit and purity.) I was sleeping with a little baby boy next to me in a bassinet. (Our spiritual man, Christ in us, is at rest.)  However, when Riaan came home he entered in through the back kitchen door. (Entering in by the back door is trying to come up another way as Jesus said. We must go through the front door which is Jesus.) At 5:30am, 4 young puppies bound onto our bed. They were beige and tan and quite playful and cute. (This would, of coarse, disturb the rest and soil the white bedding.) (These puppies represent the distractions of the flesh. Their immaturity represents something that we think is benign in our own lives, but our Father wants ALL FLESH and distractions or idols gone, and wants us spotless and blemishless. (Which is impossible with 4 dogs in the bed.) Also, the number “4” represents the “world," so this represents the fleshly or worldly distractions, no matter how well-intentioned they might be.). Their jumping on the bed frightened me and they were not ours, so we did not entertain them for a second. (We do not accept anything unclean or impure, we are to only accept the perfectly white nature, character and authority of Christ from His Word).  Riaan said, “How did they get in?” And I realized that I had left the door open in the dead of night. (Demonic influences of darkness can come in if we leave the door opened.) The night was so pretty and there were fireflies and I wanted Riaan to see that scene when he arrived home, but he did not because he came in the back door. (Satan is Beelzebub, the lord of the flies, and he uses his flies or demons with their fiery darts when we leave an open door.)  (Riaan: There could be two different warnings here. 1. We need to make sure everything is closed off to the enemy. No curses can come on us when we abide in the secret place and remain righteous. (And be humble to the Word.) 2. There is only one way to enter into the rest, only the front door, which is Jesus. There's no back way into the kingdom or you run the risk of dirtying the bed with dogs which represent little demons, curses or fleshly distractions.). One of the dogs was named Milo (Milo means "soft-hearted, merciful”.) (We must not have pity on the flesh or be “soft-hearted and merciful” towards the demons.) I asked the Lord for the other names and received the following in my spirit... Reviling, which is to criticize in an abusive or angrily insulting manner, Doubt, which is double-mindedness, and I can't remember the fourth “puppy” demon's name. (Riaan: ...Let's make the corrections required: Ensure the house of the Lord, which is our bodies, are secured properly to the attacks of the enemy and that we enter by Christ alone and no other way.) I asked the Lord for a word by faith at random and received 2 Sam 2:11, with my finger on Hebron. Hebron means “alliance or friendship." (We should have no alliances with dogs or demons. Eph 5:11  and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness,  but rather even reprove them.)   The Bride Needs to Pick up Her Trash LaKeisha Watson - 5/22 (David's notes in red) I dreamed that Local UBM was seated in neat rows or columns. There was a little bit of trash underneath our seats. (The Bride still has a little cleaning up to do.) I saw David going around everyone and picking up their trash alone. As he got closer to me, I felt embarrassed that I wasn't helping him yet and then I began to pick up my trash.  I had two cans of sprite. One was empty and the other was partly filled. I remember not wanting to look bad in front of David. Then I woke up. (The definition of Sprite is - A small or elusive supernatural being; an elf or pixie. An elf-like person. We need to clean the little demons out of our life.)    Bride Tempted to Rely on Self Works  Claire Pienaar - 05/28/22 (David's notes in red)  … I dreamed I was in a restaurant called Tribes. (A restaurant called Tribes represents factions in the apostate Church who are feeding their false doctrines to people.) I used to work there as a student. (Many start out as students in the apostate Church system.) Two of my bosses from previous jobs were there. One boss was named Kerry, meaning “dark haired”. (She represents those who are submitted to darkness according to 1 Co. 11.) The other one was Grace Khoza, a dark-skinned African. (Her last name means “Fire of God”. (She represents the fiery trials that the Lord sends to chastise or refine us).  Both of my old bosses were trying to get me to work for them but I refused. I knew I needed to homeschool my children because: It's what God requires of me, my husband wants me to do it, and I and My children love it. (Tit. 2:3-5 ...that aged women likewise … 5 to be sober-minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.) Both women were trying to tell me that the “hours are minimal” and “the pay is good” and “we need your expertise” and “it's remote work”. I just wasn't buying any of it. Then they started commenting on my car and said we could finally be a “two car family” or I could have “an upgrade” with the “extra cash I earn”. (The devil and the desires of the flesh are constantly trying to tempt us to go back to Egypt and it's ways.) Again, I knew the Lord had designed the current situation of having only one car for us to grow in Christ. (Having only one car represents our vehicle or vessel being one with Christ.) ... Then they asked questions like “Aren't you bored?” Or “Why can't you see how much potential you have?” These were to sway me to work for them.  When I got in my car to drive it, the ignition had been tampered with and the battery wasn't connecting to the ignition. (People around us are often manipulative to try and get us to do what they want, but we must resist this to stay in what the Holy Spirit tells us to do.) They called a girl named Lysandrea to come help me drive home. (Her name means “liberator” or “free man”.) (I have seen when the factious are overcome by those spirits. They claim they feel “free” because they have totally departed from the crucified life and the restraint of the Word of God. They now have a license to excess with a seared conscience.) I told her, “I know how to fix my car” but she would not give me the keys to drive it. (Riaan: The enemy is sending distractions of the world to test God's elect. Dwelling on these distractions disconnects us from the power of the Holy Spirit that we need to power our vessels.)  I looked at all these people... and said, “I am happy with my life. Thank you for your interest in me but I serve the Lord”. (Riaan: Amen! Another opportunity to choose the Lord by his grace.)  I tried to fix my car, but the thought to pray and lay hands on it could not get from my brain to my dream. I was so freaked out at not remembering to pray in faith. What was I thinking? Then I woke up. (This was particularly perplexing because I felt my conscious mind start to pray but in the dream I had lost the thought to do so.) (How often, when faced with adverse circumstances, do we think of everything we could do in the flesh to save ourselves, but we forget to pray until we have exhausted all our self efforts.)  (Wow. That's the power of the enemy when it comes to flattery of the self and offering the things of the world. The spirit man immediately decreases in power. It is evident that even thinking or dwelling on fleshly thoughts are an opening for the enemy to take hold and suggest self efforts to stop your prayers of faith. ... Then I woke up.  (The righteous shall live by faith in the promises of God not in their own ingenuity. We must learn to cease from our own works to enter into the supernatural life through faith in the promises.)    The Bride Body Distracted By Serpent Spirits  Claire Pienaar - 5/28/22 (David's notes in red) I (Representing the Bride) dreamed I was going to go away to Durban for two nights. (Durban is a port city of eastern South Africa ... Currently, over the past two months the weather warfare over this region has been relentless, with much devastation). The reason for my wanting to go there was that I wanted to spend some time with the Lord. (Durban is a year-round resort city, too, which represents being in the rest). (The Bride is always seeking the Lord in sanctification. She is at rest knowing that Christ in her will do the works.) I was at the airport to fly. (Flight represents overcoming the world.) My friend Kelly (meaning, “ strife and war”.) was there and she said she was going to Durban too, and that she would show me around. (As we will see “Kelly” represents warring serpent spirits that attack our minds.) I didn't need that, all I wanted was a hotel room to be with the Lord. I kept being friendly to her but It was clear to me that we were going for two different reasons. I was going to be with the Lord and she was going for a weekend of partying. (We must not be friendly or welcoming to the enemies thoughts or distractions or we may get caught up in them.)  (Riaan: Kelly represents the strife or war on our thoughts that come in to try and distract us. We must fight against these tactics of the enemy.)  It seemed she was flying with me in the same airplane, and when we touched down in Durban, she told me her mother was there and I could stay with her. I said “no” and told her that I wanted to get to my pre-booked hotel room. (We should avoid putting ourselves under the mother Church which will lead us back to being under the law or apostasy.)  Instead, Kelly took me to another very fancy hotel and we walked around the top level of it, where there was an extremely opulent restaurant. I was very impressed with the restaurant, but I did not feel like I belonged there. (This restaurant represents partaking of the wrong kind of spiritual food. The flesh loves to indulge itself with opulence meaning, wealthy, rich, or affluent. All of this tends to influence us to pride and competition instead of humility. This reminds me of a dream my friend had of going into a tall building looking for Jesus. He went to the top floor and when the elevator opened he saw a dragon so he went to the bottom floor and saw Jesus teaching His disciples.) She kept on wanting to get us a table outside and sit right next to the bar, but I kept on saying that wouldn't be wise. (1 Pe. 5:8 Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.) The tables were big, and we ... eventually sat down, and I was amazed at the good service and amazing food. Then I noticed a golden calf right in the middle of the restaurant. I thought, “I cannot eat here!” (We should not eat the food of idolatry.) (The Israelites made a golden calf and called it Elohim because they wanted a God that would allow them to return to the ways of Egypt. If we allow ourselves to indulge in the food of idolatry with our fleshly nature and mind then we get swept away with worldly distractions and become more and more antichrist in our thinking.) I watched as waiters brought food to people. There was some excellent looking salmon that was beautifully presented and plated, etc, but I did not have anything on my plate. (Riaan: We should only partake of the bread of the Word which is our spiritual food.) (To us their food is vanity and not food for the spiritual man.) ...Then in the dream I had a vision of Riaan walking with our son Daniel on the beach in front of my pre-booked hotel room. I really wanted to be part of that scene, rather than all this action in the restaurant. That's what I had come for: time to rest with the Lord. (Riaan: The Bride is the one who only loves Jesus as her husband, longs for the fruit of Christ and to be part of Abraham's promised seed of Israel by faith, represented by the sandy beach.)  So I kept trying to get to the pre-booked hotel room. It was difficult. My legs were like lead and I could not will myself to get up and get going. Then I woke up. (I believe I was experiencing witchcraft in the dream. Also, this is a warning that the enemy will try various stall-and-delay tactics to distract and try to derail those who are part of the corporate Bride body.) (The world has a seducing influence that weakens the spiritual man. This seduction is a distraction. How many times, when we sit down to read the Word of the Lord, do things pop into our head that we feel we need to do, which by comparison are totally unimportant.)    Bride Weak But Saved by the Word Eve Brast: Testimony - 12/21/19  (David's notes in red) (This is a most important revelation for this time.  I believe that God had Eve act out a warning for those who are contending for the Bride and even life itself. This will help many to repent of distractions of addictions to internet, politics, hobbies, sex, excitement, etc. so they can concentrate on running the race to bear fruit before someone takes their crown and they are delivered over to the Dragon.) I would like to share a recent experience that led to God giving me this dream. I hadn't realized how far I had gotten away from the foundational teachings that endeared me to UBM until recently. When I first came to this ministry I fed on "Sovereign God" and the "Real Good News" series for months and months and it gave me a hunger and excitement to read the Word. I had never really understood the Bible before listening to the "Panoramic Bible Studies" and reading "Hidden Manna For the End-Times." Slowly through the years, because of persecutions and trials of my faith that I had failed, I began listening to the voice of discouragement. I found myself worn down, kind of on “auto-pilot” just going through the motions with "faith and belief." I said I believed for different situations and I knew all the right things to say, but deep down the fears and doubts were screaming all the “what-ifs” to my mind. Over time, the enemy came in very gradually and with great stealth to steal all the wonderful foundational truths that I had started out with. This put my spirit man into confusion and made me weak to fight against the wiles of the devil.  Recently I had been struggling with my flesh over the entertainment of watching You-tube videos which was eating up all of my spare time. I was addicted and no longer in the Word or feeding my spirit man to keep Him strong and defended against the enemy. My conscience knew that I hadn't been a good steward of my time. I knew I was in a battle with my flesh! First, I moved the You-tube app to the last page on my phone screen hoping that it would give me enough pause to reconsider getting on it and wasting time, but that didn't work. It only took a second to flip over to the last screen page and click the app. This really frustrated me and caused me to keep falling into condemnation which wasn't helping the situation at all! I finally got so sick of the battle that I deleted You-tube from my phone altogether. And since I had been so addicted to watching it, I would still, out of pure habit, pick up my phone to get on You-tube.  Then I would realize it was no longer accessible on my phone and then spiritual sanity would kick in. I was then able to go and read the Word or spend time in prayer or listen to the foundational teachings that are now strengthening my faith and belief again in the promises of God. I finally feel like my spiritual life and relationship with the Lord is being restored and I don't even miss the Youtube videos at all. It was all just useless distractions; a plan of the enemy to render me ineffective for the kingdom. I hope this testimony and dream below will be a helpful admonishment, as it was for me and an encouragement also to all my UBM brethren.   Forgetting the Place of Rest Due to Distractions Eve Brast - 12/21/19 (David's notes in red) I dreamed that I was at a huge hospital / hotel complex. (The Bride is like a hospital and hotel in that it is a place of healing and it is many houses built together into a holy temple in the Lord as Ephesians says.) It had a 7 story parking garage attached to the building as well as several other huge parking lots surrounding the premises. (The parking garage represents our vehicle or body at rest from works through faith that come from the promises of God.)   (This hospital / hotel represents the kingdom of God where His righteous servants accommodate those entering the kingdom and minister the healing of the water of the Word to them. Eze. 47: 9-12  And it shall come to pass, that every living creature which swarmeth, in every place whither the rivers come, shall live; and there shall be a very great multitude of fish; for these waters are come thither, and the waters of the sea shall be healed, and everything shall live whithersoever the river cometh. 10 And it shall come to pass, that fishers shall stand by it: from En-gedi even unto En-eglaim shall be a place for the spreading of nets; their fish shall be after their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many. 11 But the miry places thereof, and the marshes thereof, shall not be healed; they shall be given up to salt. (They represent the waters of the Word that are not living and active and healing. Living waters are called so in the Bible because they are moving and constantly being refreshed from above. Whereas these miry places are the swamp of dead religion; even dead right doctrine that doesn't meet the need.)  (Here are the living waters that heal) 12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow every tree for food, whose leaf shall not whither, neither shall the fruit thereof fail: it shall bring forth new fruit every month, because the waters thereof issue out of the sanctuary; and the fruit thereof shall be for food, and the leaf thereof for healing. The 7 story parking garage represents the 7 days of creation in which God rested on the 7th day and the 7-1000 year days. Now we are commanded to keep a continual Sabbath rest from our own works and efforts.)  (Also the 7th day of rest from our works was the highest most mature point in the building; a goal we all must reach.) Along with this revelation Eve received by faith at random in our morning prayer meeting on 12/24/19 this text about entering the rest and her finger was on “believed” do enter into that rest." Heb 4:1-11  Let us fear therefore, lest haply, a promise being left of entering into his rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it.  2  For indeed we have had good tidings preached unto us, even as also they: but the word of hearing did not profit them, because it was not united by faith with them that heard.  3  For we who have believed do enter into that rest; even as he hath said, As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.  4  For he hath said somewhere of the seventh day on this wise, And God rested on the seventh day from all his works;  5  and in this place again, They shall not enter into my rest.  6  Seeing therefore it remaineth that some should enter thereinto, and they to whom the good tidings were before preached failed to enter in because of disobedience,  7  he again defineth a certain day, To-day, saying in David so long a time afterward (even as hath been said before), Today if ye shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts.  8  For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.  9  There remaineth therefore a sabbath rest for the people of God. (This word for sabbath is “sabbatismos” meaning a continual rest from our works, not just one day.) 10  For he that is entered into his rest hath himself also rested from his works, as God did from his. 11 Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience. (Notice our works are disobedience and cause a fall.) It was dark outside and throughout the whole dream I was walking around over all the multiple parking lots trying to find my vehicle because I had forgotten where I had parked it. (This is a very dark time and we can't afford to stray away from the living Word and the place of rest.  (Everyone must find his or her vehicle at rest because of the Word living in them.) The vehicles in the parking lots represent our lives at rest while God is doing the work.)  I was so frustrated that I couldn't find my vehicle. In the dream I had a rechargeable flashlight that Brandy had bought for me in real life and I was trying to use it to help me find my vehicle. But it kept flickering and going out on me because I had failed to recharge it. (This represents failing to consistently stay in the Word and recharge our mind and our faith. When we get away from the Word it becomes dark to our spiritual sight and our discernment suffers. We become easy targets for the enemy to distract us and get us out of the faith and the rest.) The flashlight would stay on for about 30 seconds and then flicker off. I would then turn it off and wait a few minutes to see if I could turn it back on. It would have enough juice to stay on for a few more moments and then it would go dead again. Psa. 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And light unto my path.  Pro 20:27  The spirit of man is the lamp of Jehovah, Searching all his innermost parts. (The wise virgins had oil in their lamps and the rest were distracted and missed the King when he came. No doubt they thought they were ready. In the parable of the sower, 3 of 4 were distracted and bore no fruit.)  Mat 13:19-23  When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the evil one, and snatcheth away that which hath been sown in his heart. This is he that was sown by the way side.  20  And he that was sown upon the rocky places, this is he that heareth the word, and straightway with joy receiveth it;  21  yet hath he not root in himself, but endureth for a while; and when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway he stumbleth.  22  And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.  23  And he that was sown upon the good ground, this is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who verily beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.) Finally, it quit working all together and I was really regretting forgetting to charge it back up. (Charge up your spirit man in the Word to find your body at rest from fruitless works.) (Jas. 1:21-25  21 Wherefore putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves. 23 For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror: 24 for he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But he that looketh into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and so continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.) I made my way back inside the hospital / hotel and as I walked into the lighted lobby I suddenly remembered that I had parked my vehicle on the fifth floor of the parking garage! (Getting back into the light of the Word and the Kingdom will renew our minds and help us get back to the foundational principles that saved us in the beginning from the old nature and the curse.) Rom. 12:2 And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. So I approached a blonde haired lady (Representing being submitted to the light of the Son) who was dressed in a pink knit top (Representing the color of love) that worked there and I asked her which elevator led up to the fifth floor of the parking garage. (The number 5 symbolizes God's grace, goodness and favor toward humans and is mentioned 318 times in Scripture. Five multiplied by itself is 25 and represents 'grace upon grace'.) She pointed to my right over to an isolated silver service elevator and said, “It's right over there.” So I walked over to the elevator and pushed the button to go up and the door opened almost immediately. As I was stepping in to the elevator I noticed a very tall thin homeless looking man at the back of the elevator. (This represents the “old man” who lost his house to the new man but constantly works to gain it back again.)  He had on tan jeans and a tan and maroon, plaid, long sleeve shirt. (Representing works that are not white, an unclean heart and walk.)(This man represents my old man/nature who is in rebellion to the Word of God represented by the tan color of his clothing. Tan was the color of the Nazi's uniforms. The maroon color in the plaid shirt represents the blood that the old man is guilty of. Rev. 16:6  for they poured out the blood of the saints and the prophets, and blood hast thou given them to drink: they are worthy.) He had long wavy dirty blonde hair and a matching beard. He was dirty and his clothes were dingy.  I immediately didn't feel comfortable being on the elevator with him and tried to step towards the quickly closing elevator door but it was too late. The doors closed and the elevator started going up. This homeless man began talking about all the bad things that could possibly happen and speaking all sorts of word curses to me. (He will rob your faith and resulting fruit.)  I kept casting it all down and countering it with statements of faith but he wouldn't shut up. I began pushing buttons, indiscriminately, trying to stop the elevator on any floor just to get away from the homeless man and his evil mouth.  (David teaches a good parable about Joshua conquering the five kings who represent the five senses of our fallen nature. These are the things we rely on when we listen to our old man of the flesh and rely on his senses. Jos. 10:16-27  And these five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah. 17 And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found, hidden in the cave at Makkedah. 18 And Joshua said, Roll great stones unto the mouth of the cave, and set men by it to keep them:  (Rocks represent Jesus, the Word, covering our mouths, which causes us to resist such thoughts and words. Then we can put to death the old man. We cannot conquer our promised land so long as the old man is permitted to speak from our mouth what we've learned from the carnal senses. Isa 11:2-4  And the Spirit of Jehovah shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah.  3  And his delight shall be in the fear of Jehovah; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither decide after the hearing of his ears;  4  but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.) Back to our text in Joshua 10:19 but stay not ye; pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for Jehovah your God hath delivered them into your hand. 20 And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, and the remnant which remained of them had entered into the fortified cities, 21 that all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.  22 Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring forth those five kings unto me out of the cave. 23 And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon. 24 And it came to pass, when they brought forth those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the chiefs of the men of war that went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. (So they cannot speak and put to death our spiritual man.)  And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them. 25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed; be strong and of good courage: for thus shall Jehovah do to all your enemies against whom ye fight. (We must fight the good fight of the faith and defeat the fleshly enemies in our promised land!) (By not permitting their distractions, thoughts and words we will win. If we get distracted by the things of the world and forget to recharge our batteries we will have no power to resist the old man. Our minds will be full of worldliness that has no power over self. 3 out or 4 fall away because of this.)  26 And afterward Joshua smote them, and put them to death, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening. (The old man crucified) 27 And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had hidden themselves, and laid great stones on the mouth of the cave, unto this very day.)(The old man cannot speak with a rope around his neck or dead in the cave and blocked by the Word.)   Back to Eve's dream: Suddenly, the elevator jammed and we became stuck between the fifth and sixth floors. (Falling Short of reaching the 7th floor of rest because the old man is speaking.) (When we allow fear and anxiety to rule us, allowing the old man to speak, we become stuck in a nowhere land between faith and rest, and the works of man and the flesh. Jas. 1:2-7  Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into manifold temptations; 3 Knowing that the proving of your faith worketh patience. 4 And let patience have its perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing.  5 But if any of you lacketh wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting: for he that doubteth is like the surge of the sea driven by the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord; 8 a doubleminded man, unstable in all his ways.) (We can't afford to not receive what we need from the Lord but the Word brings forth faith but distractions bring double mindedness which in the Greek means two-souled. Rom 10:17  So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.) The door opened momentarily and I could look down and see several blonde headed people gathered near the elevator on the fifth floor. They were talking and laughing and enjoying each other's company. (These represent brethren who are in the rest having faith towards God and submitted to the Son and the Word.) The door then closed quickly because the elevator sensor realized that it was between floors and that the situation was unsafe. (When we hear the convicting word the door is open … but not for long, because disobeying our conscience defiles it and it speaks quieter and quieter until we hear it no more. So we see this is an unsafe condition that we must avoid or be one of those 3 out of 4 who bore no fruit.) The homeless man continued talking and saying things that put fear into my heart. I began pacing inside the elevator and I was starting to panic that no one would hear my calls for help and that I would be stuck there forever. (Some will never break free from the old man's words and forever be fruitless.) There was no roof on this elevator so I could see the shaft above. (So looking upwards in the shaft towards the 7th floor represents seeing the end from the beginning which is what faith is. Luke 8:14 And that which fell among the thorns, these are they that have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. The word here for perfection is “telesphoreo” which means, "to bring to completion with the end in view." This is the only place in the Bible where this particular word is used. "Calling the things that be not as though they were.” We must have the end in view by faith before we can arrive there. 2 Co. 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit.)  Then, as I looked up the shaft I glanced over to my right and I saw what looked like the attic of a house. (The attic is a parallel vision representing looking up the elevator shaft.) It was lined with pink fiberglass insulation in between all the wooden rafters. (Pink represents love.) I noticed a blonde haired, blue eyed little boy who was toddler aged. He was dressed in just a white cloth diaper with a diaper pin. He was walking precariously, balancing on the wooden rafters in between the pink fiberglass insulation. He was happy and didn't seem aware of any danger. (This represents our spiritual fruit of Christ in us having been born, i.e. seen by the world. Our spirit man or man-child is only in danger when we are listening to our old man and not looking up towards God. Our old man will put to death our new spirit man if we are not receiving grace from God because of our rebellion and self-will.) (Our spiritual man of Christ in us will fall from his high position in God where "the rest" is.)  Rom. 8:12-17 12 So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh: 13 for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For ye received not the spirit of bondage again unto fear; but ye received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God: 17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him .) I told him that he needed to get down from there immediately before he got hurt. So he obediently came over right away and crawled down into my arms. (When we are in fear the spiritual man is in our hands and in danger. He cannot retain the high place in God and we fail to attain to the corporate Bride or Man-child body.) As I held him I was thinking of a way that I could escape this situation but fear and despair were dominating my mind as the homeless man continued to talk. There seemed to be an urgency to find my vehicle (at rest) and I was becoming anxious and fretful because of all the thoughts that were running through my mind. But the little boy didn't seem worried at all. (The spiritual man is the one with faith but he must be permitted to speak it.) (2 Co. 10:3-5  3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh 4 (for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds), 5 casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;). Then I woke up. These are verses we received by faith at random at this time for the morning meetings that confirm this dream: Eve - Mat. 17:20 (17-20) 17 And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him hither to me. 18 And Jesus rebuked him; and the demon went out of him: and the boy was cured from that hour. 19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast it out? 20 And he saith unto them, Because of your little faith: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Tim - 2 Sa. 22:29 For thou art my lamp, O Jehovah; And Jehovah will lighten my darkness. Missy - 1 Pe. 1:13-25  13 Wherefore girding up the loins of your mind, be sober and set your hope perfectly on the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves according to your former lusts in the time of your ignorance: 15 but like as he who called you is holy, be ye yourselves also holy in all manner of living; 16 because it is written, Ye shall be holy; for I am holy. 17 And if ye call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to each man's work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear: 18 knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers; 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb without spot, even the blood of Christ: 20 who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was manifested at the end of times for your sake, 21 who through him are believers in God, that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.  22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth unto unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another from the heart fervently: 23 having been begotten again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which liveth and abideth. 24 For, All flesh is as grass, And all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth: 25 But the word of the Lord abideth for ever. And this is the word of good tidings which was preached unto you. Leon -  Mat. 25: 3-13  3 For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them: 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6 But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour. The moral of this story is stop being distracted by the old man with things that have no eternal value or you will not bear fruit and will miss the Bride and possibly heaven itself and will become a victim of the dragon.   Jesus is so Desirous of Us Debbie Fenske - 5/30/22 Last evening, during our worship, and praise to the Lord Jesus, I began discerning, quite heavily, that He wished to speak something to us. We were singing, Great Are You Lord. I discerned that it was not that He did not welcome our worship and praise. He did. But I knew something was on His heart. So, I said to Him, “Jesus, please speak to me what is on Your heart for us.” I shared what Jesus was speaking to me through these first two songs after we had sung them. He was saying, “Do you know how I wait for you? I long for you to draw near to Me. Though you do come before me, there is so much unrest, so much anxiety over other things that you must accomplish. How I need you, My people, to desire Me, to desire to come before Me, above all things, spending time with me in quietness and rest. For, when you do come before Me there is hurriedness, unrest, and anxiety. Where is the quietness? Where is the rest?” Then The Lord led us to sing, Eagles Wings, about our yearning for Him, and about our waiting for Him, But as we sang this to Him, He was wanting us to hear Him directing them to us. “Oh My children, how I wait for you. I wait for you to come to me, to abide with me in My presence. Let Me draw you. Let Me bring you to your knees. I am your quietness, your rest, and your strength. I am all that you need. Hear Me, My children. Even the very works that you do for My kingdom becomes mere works when you give Me so little time where, first, you could receive from Me anointed strength, and supernatural refreshing. You cannot find these things in yourself through the good things that you do for others, or for My kingdom. Time with Me in quietness and calm is of the essence. For I will even expand time for you, time, especially, to do all I have given you to do for Me and My kingdom. I know your heart's desire to glorify My name. Know that my heart's desire is for you, My people, to find your rest, and your quietness in Me alone. So, come rest with Me.” Then we we sang to the Lord, In Your Presence. During the song, I received a vision of Jesus kneeling down, upright on His knees. He wore a light blue robe. I was standing in front of Him. I know I represented each of us. His hands gently reached out for mine, inviting me to kneel down with Him. In the vision, as I gave Him my hands, I could literally feel the touch of His hands in mine as I knelt down in front of Him with my head bowed. End of vision. Isa. 30:15  For thus said the Lord, the Holy One of Israel: In returning, and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness, and in confidence shall be your strength. Father, thank you. For this 1940 Paramount episode, an Akim Tamiroff (and Muriel Angelus) double feature in which we unlock the secrets of Preston Sturges' inspiration. First, we look at The Way of All Flesh (directed by Louis King), a little-known proto-noir Christmas movie that seems to have taken its inspiration from Nathaniel Hawthorne, as filtered through the sensibilities of top screenwriters Lenore Coffee and Jules Furthman. Then we move on to the first movie directed by dynamo screenwriter-turned-sui generis-director Preston Sturges, The Great McGinty, which directly references the plot of The Way of All Flesh in its prologue. We make our case for the evolution of The Miracle of Morgan's Creek out of both movies and talk Sturges, artificial families, and lost fathers.    Time Codes: 0h 01m 00s:    THE WAY OF ALL FLESH [dir. Unexpected Blessings A meditation shared by Rev. Ginger E. Gaines-Cirelli at Foundry UMC June 13, 2021, third Sunday after Pentecost, Confirmation Sunday and Pride Sunday. “The Call: Good Trouble” series.     Text: 1 Samuel 15:34-16:13 Jesse didn't expect the prophet Samuel to come calling. And he certainly wasn't expecting Samuel to come with a horn of oil to anoint one of his sons as the future king of Israel. Jesse didn't expect that his youngest son, the one who shepherded the flocks, would be required at the family gathering for the sacrifice since the youngest—and shepherds generally—weren't included in such things.  But God has a way of challenging our expectations. God sent Samuel and his horn-full of oil to Bethlehem, to the house of Jesse, to anoint NOT the first-born, the one who may have looked tall and kingly, Eliab. Instead God chose the youngest, David the shepherd, who had to be fetched from among the sheep. And, of course, young, handsome David didn't expect ANY of what happened! God challenges expectations. And in this story God does that in two very specific ways. First, God breaks the family expectation of giving blessing or honor to the first born son. And second, God breaks the cultural expectation by lifting up a youth—who even though described as handsome—perhaps didn't have the physical appearance or “stature” that people of the time would consider “kingly.”  God explains these surprising choices by saying to Samuel, “God doesn't look at things like humans do. Humans see only what is visible to the eyes, but the Lord sees into the heart.” (16:7, CEB)  Samuel, in response, models faithfulness through trusting that God knows what they're doing, that God perceives things that Samuel cannot, and then through being obedient to the spiritual leading to anoint the least likely future king in Jesse's family. On this Sunday when we celebrate both Confirmation and Pride, I give thanks for this story that affirms God's habit of breaking our human-made, cultural rules in ways that lift up, celebrate, and anoint the gifts of unexpected people. We know all too well that human rules have demonized and excluded LGBTQ people and that legislated discrimination continues to be supported in many places in both church and state. Limited human perception has silenced, ignored, or belittled the leadership and insight of children and youth. Human ways of discerning a person's worth or leadership capacity, based on “stature” or appearance have meant that countless people have not been allowed to fully share their gifts or contribute as meaningfully as they could. But God isn't limited by human ways of perceiving or discerning. Centuries after David was anointed the future king of Israel, on the day of Pentecost, God's intention was made plain and the prophecies were made manifest: Spirit fell upon ALL FLESH and the human gatekeeping rules and old assumptions and expectations were consumed in the fire of new creation and new community.  And Spirit continues to fall not just upon the “usual suspects” according to human ways of perceiving. Spirit falls on all flesh… and where hearts, hands, and minds are open, She stirs us to get into “good trouble” as we love and serve and are formed by the Way of Jesus Christ in union with the church and in advocacy and service to the world. We see Spirit's stirring in the ways that members of Foundry youth group have formed brave space and are building Beloved Community together. Throughout the pandemic, they have met regularly on ZOOM. Recently, the grandparent of a transgender teen found Foundry online and—encouraged by our welcome and message—reached out to see how their grandchild might connect. The youth joined the next ZOOM, at first with their video off. After five minutes, they showed their face. Within 20 minutes, they felt safe enough to share their journey as trans. The youth group surrounded and celebrated their sibling and new friend. Think for just a moment about this. A church youth group… We see Spirit stirring as, even with the UMC in the unjust tangle we're in, more and more queer clergy are speaking up and out, and LGBTQ siblings are being affirmed by churches, boards of ordained ministry, and annual conferences, not just locally but in places across the connection. We lament and renounce the continued attacks and cruel rejection of LGBTQ pastors, clergy candidates, and allies here and abroad. But we celebrate the breakthroughs and the blessings we receive through the gifts of our own queer clergy here at Foundry. We celebrate those at turning points in the ordination process. T.C. Morrow will be preaching next week the sermon she will submit to the BWC Board of Ordained Ministry for her final examination toward full membership as an ordained Deacon in the UMC. And Foundry member Chet Jechura, recommended by the BOOM for commissioning as a provisional Elder this year, has received an appointment to serve as pastor of Good Shepherd UMC in Baltimore beginning in July.  We see Spirit stirring in the curiosity of our youth about the work of Foundry's Board and larger ministry. The Board is actively creating ways for our youth to engage at that level, bringing their ideas, concerns, and leadership to our shared ministry. And again this year, we see Spirit stirring as our Confirmation class will bring specific additions to their confession of faith and their commitments to God and to the church. And this amazing group of confirmands has requested to continue their study together and Pastor K.C. is working on making that happen. Thanks be to God that we are given opportunities to continue to witness the ongoing revelation of God's barrier-breaking revolution of love and grace. May God give us eyes to perceive, ears to receive, and hearts brave enough to follow the unexpected leadings of Holy Spirit. And may we be open to receive the unexpected blessings of Jesus Christ who is determined to shake us to keep stretching and growing, to stir us to get into good trouble, to love us so much that we might finally be free enough from fear that we can create communities and ultimately a whole world where no one is afraid to show their true face, to tell their story, to offer their gifts. What a wonderful world that will be! https://foundryumc.org/

In the first part of our mammoth double classic album special on French tech-death lords Gojira, Remfry and Steve look specifically at the latter part of their career and the two albums that lead up to 2021's forthcoming album Fortitude.  2012's L'Enfant Sauvage proved to be the moment where Gojira became unstoppable. Yes the underground had been hyping them since at least 2005's From Mars to Sirius, but the move to Roadrunner Records and four year wait between The Way of All Flesh and L'Enfant Sauvage had given the band more exposure and also allowed some people to catch up to the fact that Gojira had, slowly but surely, become one of the very best and innovative metal bands on the planet.  L'Enfant Sauvage managed to be a glorious conglomeration of everything the band had been aiming to be up until that point. Ferocious death-metal inspired riffs coalesced seamlessly with more exploratory, ambient (comparatively) progressive tendencies ... Death meets Tool in effect. But Gojira somehow managed something even greater than that descriptor, holding steadfastly onto an identity that was theirs and theirs alone.  This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Chartable - https://chartable.com/privacy

Heidi Thomas is a screenwriter and playwright best known for Call the Midwife. The BBC TV series, which began in 2012, was originally a six part adaptation of a trilogy of memoirs by Jennifer Worth, recalling her experiences as a midwife in the East End of London. It was an immediate hit, with 10 million viewers a week, becoming one of BBC One’s most popular dramas and a fixture in the Christmas schedules. Born in 1962, Heidi Thomas grew up as the eldest of three children in the leafy suburbs of Liverpool. Her father ran a drain cleaning business while her mother looked after the children, including Heidi’s youngest brother David, who was born with Down’s Syndrome. Heidi studied English at Liverpool University, supporting herself by selling ladies’ underwear at a department store. During a bout of viral hepatitis, which left her unable to apply for jobs when she graduated, she entered a competition for new plays and won a prize for her debut, All Flesh is Grass. During the production,of her next play, Shamrocks and Crocodiles, she met the actor Stephen McGann. They went on to marry, and many years later Stephen was cast as the GP in Call the Midwife. After nearly a decade in the theatre, Heidi made the leap into television, first writing on existing series such as Soldier, Soldier and Doctor Finlay. Her other screenwriting credits include Lilies, based on her grandmother’s recollections, and adaptations of classic novels including Elizabeth Gaskell’s Cranford, Noel Streatfeild’s Ballet Shoes and Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. What Are You Afraid of? Horror & Paranormal Podcast

EPISODE 118 THE MONSTERS OF SUMMER Horror authors T. Fox Dunham & Phil Thomas are the monsters of summer. On episode 118 of What Are You Afraid Of? Horror & Paranormal Show, the hosts start with a ghost story, playing part one of the Ghosts of Spring Avenue, researched and written by Mister Ghosts of Gettysburg, Mark Nesbitt, from his 8th collection of haunted Gettysburg tales. For years, families have witnessed floating spirits, vanishing figures and phantom lights in the homes and apartments on this old road. English folksinger David Walton narrates the first part of this eerie supernatural story. Then Phil and Fox discuss common themes in horror movies and share another round of clown news! A birthday boy dresses like a clown and lures children with promises of candy. Also, Fox reports on a rash of EVPs broadcasted over Amazon Echoes. Is your Echo malfunctioning or taking requests from the dead? The hosts play another song from The Zombie Dandies, and David Walton narrates Fox’s flash story of alien occupation, Reality TV. On most days death seems like a humane alternative to the treatment. Stricken with fever, William is rushed to Mercy—notorious as a place to send the sickest of the poor and uninsured to be forgotten—and finds the hospital in even worse condition than his previous visit. The grounds are unkempt, the foundation is cracking, and like the wild mushrooms sprouting from fissures of decay around it, something is growing inside the hospital. Something dark. It’s feeding on the sickness and sustaining itself on the staff, changing them. And now it wants Willie. This was my death. Life is an addiction. Love is the only force that is real. Jenn and guest Vanessa Diaz discuss Portuguese novels, ghost stories, unreliable narrators, and more in this week's episode of Get Booked. This episode is sponsored by The Devil's Thiefby Lisa Maxwell and Flight or Fright, edited by Stephen King and Bev Vincent.   Questions:   1. Hello Amanda and Jenn, This month, after a harrowing vacation planning session wherein I blindly threw a dart at a map, I booked a flight to Portugal. Shortly, after booking my ticket, I realized I really don't know much about the country and its literature. Can you help me find something to read that's either set in Portugal or by a Portuguese author before my trip? I've read a number of books about Spain and books by Spanish authors, so I'd prefer to avoid overlap. Although I'm open to non-fiction, I would prefer a fiction recommendation. I read almost every genre within fiction, but I tend to avoid YA and romance. To give you a general feel for my taste in books, some of my all-time favourites books are: -A Little Life by Hanya Yanigahara, -The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami, -Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, and -Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Many thanks, --Rebecca   2. Hi Amanda and Jenn, First I want to say I love your show and I read a lot of your recommendations. So I absolutely loved I Am Pilgrim and need some more books like it. I love books that have multiple plot lines that converge in the end. Please help me find some more books to put on my shelf. I will read anything except Romance. I prefer mystery and historical fiction. By the way if this finds its way on the show that would be great. Thanks --Brittney   3. Hi Guys! I’m looking for a book recs for good horror novels that involve ghosts. I’m a huge horror movie fan and particularly love ghost stories & found footage movies. In reading, however, I’ve stuck mostly with Urban & High Fantasy novels. I’m looking to expand my taste a bit this year and have also found that I’m running out of horror movies to watch. I’ve attempted a few Stephen King novels including “It" but have a hard time digesting the homophobia within towns make up. I understand where the novel comes from and usually don’t have a problem with being faced with the uglier side of humanity. However, because of that particular form of ugly, I’m extremely tentative when it comes to horror books. Can you recommend some horror novels centered around hauntings & ghost stories? Bonus if they include LGBT characters — particularly gay or lesbian couples. Thank you for your time, --Oddy   4. I am going through a difficult breakup and am finding escaping into reading a healthy way to deal with my feelings. I recently read The Night Circus for the first time and found it was a great book for me right now not necessarily because of the genre but because of the immersive environment the author creates and because the ending is generally happy. I started reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell hoping it would provide a similar imaginative environment but I'm finding the beginning a little slow. I am open to any genre of book as long as it is immersive and not depressing. Thank you for your help! --Lauren   5. Hi, I love your podcast, and I'm so happy it comes out every week now! I was wondering if you can help me find more books with an unreliable narrator. I have read Gone Girl, Girl on the Train, Await Your Reply, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and Where'd You Go, Bernadette. I particularly enjoy books when you don't actually know if the narrator is unreliable or not until you get into it as opposed to Mr Ripley where I knew from the start. Thanks! I await your reply. ;-) --Kaci   6. Books with borderline characters or any type of mental illness? --Sad reader   7. Hi gang, Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina!!!!! My name is Agustin I´m looking for recommendations for books about libraries and or books or in which these elements are important to the plot.......... quite specific, sorry :( but i´m hooked and I crave these kinds of books!!!! For this episode of The Future Is A Mixtape, Jesse & Matt explore the paranoid dread and narcotic pull of Adam Curtis' most recent documentary of political-noir, HyperNormalisation. In 2 hours and 40 minutes, it charts the globe-hopping travails of terrorists, bankers, politicians and America's digital aristocracy--all of whom use humanity as pawns by promising simple stories to explain complex problems which can't be solved with “perception management” and pastel fairy-tales about “good vs. evil.” Considered by many to be the most talented and remarkable documentarian in Britain, Adam Curtis has weaved suspicion and suspense into a BBC career that stretches from 40 Minutes: Bombay Motel in 1987 (which explores the have and have-nots of the city) to his most recent film HyperNormalisation in 2016 (which explores how an entirely Russian condition has now passed into the wider-world). Curtis' documentary was released less than a month prior to the mind-gagging upset of Hillary Clinton's loss to Donald Trump, and the film increasingly speaks to a disenchanted, rat-fucked future of no-returns. Jesse & Matt will discuss what makes this “dank” film so compelling and deeply-felt, as well as what makes it, almost equally so, such an evasive work of art. This is a figural process presently best observed in a whole mode of contemporary entertainment literature -- one is tempted to characterize it as "high-tech paranoia" -- in which the circuits and networks of some putative global computer hookup are narratively mobilized by labyrinthine conspiracies of autonomous but deadly interlocking and competing information agencies in a complexity often beyond the capacity of the normal reading mind. Yet conspiracy theory (and its garish narrative manifestations) must be seen as a degraded attempt -- through the figuration of advanced technology -- to think the impossible totality of the contemporary world system. It is in terms of that enormous and threatening, yet only dimly perceivable, other reality of economic and social institutions that, in my opinion, the postmodern sublime can alone be theorized. Logan Mader joins us to discuss producing Gojira’s “The Way of All Flesh,” getting slamming and huge mixes, scoring movie soundtracks, and nailing clear but brutal guitar tones. Working with bands like Gojira, Fear Factory, Soulfly, and Devildriver, Logan has demonstrated that he’s an absolute monster when it comes to production. We go back to the beginning and find out ... This week, Moses uses a new name for God, "The God of the Spirit of All Flesh." It is a name used only one other time in the Torah. We'll take a look at both contexts, and see what they have in common, and what they tell us about the kind of God Moses wants to believe in.

How do you know it's time to rotate the cows? Can an agriculture business degree be helpful to the independent farmer? Are Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs good with kids and family? Those great questions (and more details) came in from listeners (all The Beginning Farmer Show listeners are awesome blossom) over the past week. Below you'll find some links related to each of the topics that I touch on in today's episode. Plus, if you listen to the show you'll get to hear me ramble (because I'm a bit stressed) about the county fair. More on that next week ...    :: Livestock Guardian Dogs :: Livestock Protection Dogs by Orysia Dawydiak - The way more intelligent approach to train your LGD. Livestock Guardian Dogs Website - Links to more articles than you can shake a stick at! :: Rotational Grazing :: Geared Reel for Polywire - In my mind a must have for rotational grazing. Polywire for Rotational Grazing - Holds up in the weather fairly well and is easy to set-up and take-down. I don't have any connection with Powerflex other than I like their poly wire. Grass-Fed Cattle by Julius Ruechel - One of many books that helped shape my rotational grazing ideals. All Flesh is Grass by Gene Logsdon - My favorite farming author and small-scale implementation. Quality Pasture by Allan Nation - If you want to get serious then get this book! Comeback Farms by Greg Judy - In my mind this is the best plan out there if you want to follow a plan. :: Agriculture Economics :: I wish I had some great links on this topic, but I don't ... What are our thoughts? How can having a degree in Agriculture Economics degree benefit the independent small farmer? As always, I want to thank you so much for listening and supporting the show with your encouragement and reviews on iTunes! I am continually working to produce a better show, and I'm thankful for all of the listeners sticking with me as I learn.   If you do enjoy the show, don't forget that you can subscribe on iTunes and leave a five star rating and review (by clicking the link). If you are an Android phone user you can also subscribe on the free Stitcher App.   It is so very encouraging to know that people are listening and enjoying the show! I would love to hear your questions, show ideas, or comments about the show. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail!
