The Legacy Matters podcast is a refreshing and enjoyable show that effortlessly combines genuine curiosity, humor, and a love for human connection. Hosted by engaging and warm hosts, this podcast dives deep into the lives and stories of its guests while fostering an atmosphere of mutual interest and respect. The conversations are not just centered on the guests' professions or achievements but also on their personal journeys and the ways in which they relate to one another. This creates a truly human experience that leaves listeners feeling uplifted and connected.

One of the best aspects of The Legacy Matters podcast is how it emphasizes the importance of storytelling and celebrating individual narratives. The hosts take great care in getting to know their guests beyond surface-level details, allowing them to share personal anecdotes, triumphs, struggles, and lessons learned. This approach reveals the richness and complexity of each person's life journey, creating a tapestry of diverse experiences that captivate listeners. It's a reminder that every individual has a unique story worth sharing and cherishing.

Additionally, the podcast stands out for its death-positive conversation. While death can be seen as taboo or uncomfortable to discuss, The Legacy Matters embraces it as an integral part of life. By exploring topics related to mortality and legacy creation in an open and respectful manner, the podcast encourages listeners to reflect on their own lives and the legacies they want to leave behind. This unique perspective adds depth and thoughtfulness to the conversations, making them even more impactful.

However, one potential drawback of The Legacy Matters podcast is that some episodes may lack variety or diversity in terms of guest selection. While it's clear that local entrepreneurs are highlighted extensively, expanding the pool of guests could provide even more diverse perspectives and stories for listeners to enjoy. This could enhance the overall richness of the podcast by introducing new voices and experiences that might not have been previously explored.

In conclusion, The Legacy Matters podcast is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates heartfelt conversations, storytelling, and a celebration of human connections. The hosts' genuine interest in their guests shines through in every episode, creating an atmosphere that feels like eavesdropping on a conversation between close friends. From the warmth and humor to the thought-provoking discussions on life and death, this podcast leaves listeners feeling uplifted, enlightened, and excited for what's to come.

John Moe joins us as we start recording and releasing new episodes in 2025 after an extended break over the winter. Maybe we are rusty, but we really take the whole "don't want to know you ahead of time" thing to an extreme with John, which he handles well. John Moe is a Twin Cities-based podcast maker, author, public speaker, and mental health advocate. He created and currently hosts the podcasts Depresh Mode with John Moe (LA Press Club Award) and Sleeping with Celebrities on the Maximum Fun network and he has created and produced podcasts for clients including the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the American Psychiatric Association, Whitman College (two higher ed marketing awards), and University of Puget Sound. Moe has hosted three national public radio programs, Wits, Marketplace Tech, and Weekend America, and he created and hosted the groundbreaking podcast, The Hilarious World of Depression (Webby Award). His writing has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times Magazine and McSweeney's. He is the author of four books, including the WSJ bestseller, The Hilarious World of Depression. Moe has delivered speeches on mental health all over the country. The Hilarious World of Depression was launched in late 2016 and was an instant success, quickly reaching the number two spot on the Apple Podcasts chart, garnering millions of downloads, and receiving widespread press coverage. It was based on the idea that depression is a lot more common than people realize, especially among celebrities and entertainers like comedians and musicians, and that open conversations on this often taboo topic could be a healing experience. The show won the Webby Award for Best Comedy Podcast in 2017 and led to a critically-acclaimed bestselling book of the same name in 2020.Our Whitman, My Story was conceived in collaboration with the communications staff at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. The small school had a challenge: how to attract applicants from around the world and how to get admitted students to actually enroll. The unhosted podcast series featured profiles of a diverse group of students, the kind of people who could be friends once a student arrived on campus. The podcast, which was renewed for a second season, won the CASE Circle of Excellence Award and the Educational Advertising Award. The success of the Whitman series led to another podcast at the University of Puget Sound featuring students, faculty, and alums as part of the school's capital campaign. Depresh Mode with John Moe is a mental health interview podcast program produced in conjunction with Maximum Fun, an employee-owned co-op podcast network. Drawing on his extensive connections in the entertainment industry, John Moe has interviewed celebrities such as Jamie Lee Curtis, Patton Oswalt, and David Sedaris and won an...

Henry Bromelkamp and Jeff Nelson have been through a lot together. Partners for 36 years, they have each enjoyed successful careers and together they have lived social, active lives. Just before the COVID19 pandemic hit, Henry had an accident. The first half of the show we talk a lot about traumatic brain injuries. This show, and the message it carries, hits close to home for all of our hosts. We have witnessed firsthand the effects of the types of injuries. Please please please wear a helmet when you are exposed to risk. Bicycling, skiing, riding a scooter…anything that carries a serious risk of falling and hitting your head. One thing I took from this episode, and from the first time I met Henry, is that it becomes somewhat hard for people to focus on life outside the injury and its effects. The second half of the show we get to know more about this wonderful couple, their lives before meeting and some of the activities they are currently enjoying. Henry is truly lucky to be alive. His determination to make an impact on the world remains fully intact. Enjoy the show and please take good care of yourself and those you love. That was before we even began the show. From there we got to know Houston in the way we do- we talked. We opened up the conversation to learn more about some of the experiences that have led Houston to where he is today. In case you don't know, Houston White is the man behind the brand by the same name. I am so glad that we have stayed committed to not researching our guests, as there is a lot of information out there in the world about Houston. We talk about the family drywall business, the maturity that has helped Houston understand that it is okay that he is the brand. We discuss safeness as an alternative to safety- which was the first time I had heard the two things talked about in that way. And we spend some time working through the importance of positivity, and the role we play in shaping a future that is full of safeness and safe places for all of our children, as they are the real reason for our endeavors, or at least they should be. I love every show that we have recorded. Kate and Marc are the best people to have with me on this journey. I asked a recent acquaintance to be a guest on the show and instead she suggested Dan. Dan Waldschmidt attempted to cleave a tree in half with his head when he was 20. He didn't wake up that morning thinking "I hate trees", but something bad happened. I have no doubt that everything that followed immediately was horrific. I also have no doubt that he and those who knew him wish that his accident never happened- but life is messy. Dan is Dan. To make the most of your life and legacy is all there is. This show is another great example of why we record these stories and a tribute to the joy found in getting to know new people. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you Dan! Wear a dang helmet!
