Aaron Mader aka Lazerbeak is a Minneapolis based music producer and the CEO of Doomtree Records . His music career spans a quarter of a century and has amounted to producing over 600 songs that are all available to stream on Spotify anywhere in the world. Lazerbeak is mostly known as a hip hop music producer, but he actually got his start by playing the guitar as a kid. In fact his high school band was so successful that they got signed by a label and were touring before they even graduated. At that point, he thought he was going to be a rockstar. Life happens though, and instead of being a rich and famous rockstar he found himself working at a movie theater and borrowing money from his mom to buy a beat machine from Guitar Center so that he could make rap music with his friends. Those friends eventually became Doomtree and changed the culture of hip hop music in the Midwest forever. Lazerbeak has had a long career full of highs and lows, but still manages to make a living from music to this day. In this episode we discuss his experience making Lizzo's first album, forming Doomtree with his friends, working for free, producing a song for Doja Cat in 3 hours, making albums for each of his 3 kids, running a record label from his living room, delivering pizzas until he was 30, his new solo album that's coming this Spring, and much more.
We open on Fives meeting with Shaak Ti. Shaak says that the chancellor wants the tumor. Shaak is going to take the tumor to the Jedi temple first, and Nala Sey protests.AZ3 runs into Fives in the halfway, and their clone guards aren't super good at the whole guarding thing. AZ lets slip that Fives is to be mindwiped and assigned to Sanitation duty. Fives is done getting the runaround and as it turns out an Arc trooper is more effective than four guard clones who never made it off Kamino. Imagine what he could do with Sanitation, probably some sort of Space Cloaca Maxima. Dave Filoni call me.Fives steals a ship and makes a break for it, but ditches it to swim back to the cloning facility. AZ3 is apparently a distant cousin to Lazerbeak and turns into a jetski. Meanwhile Nala Sey calls Darth Tyrannus. Tyrannus gives her marching orders: the Jedi must never know about the true nature of the inhibitor chip.Fives and AZ3 start doing science: the implant is foreign which means it's intentional. Fives starts taking off his helmet like he's the main character in a Marvel movie. Fives has AZ remove his own chip because he's maybe the best character in Star Wars? But do all clones have the chips? To the embryo farm!! Looks like all the clones have the chips. Nala Sey interrupts and explains the truth: Sipho Dyas ordered the chips implanted. Fives is upset that the Jedi might have done this to the clones. Shaak shows up and Fives basically gets to the heart of the matter when he says that the chips have to be removed or the entire Grand Army of the Republic could be compromised.Nala Sey says that Fives should be terminated and that he is property. Interesting production note, Ayn Rand and the Daughters of the Confederacy have writing credits on this episode. Weird. Shaak says that he's actually property of the Republic, that and a lightsaber apparently carry the day. Fives and Nala Sey are to accompany Shaak and the evidence to Coruscant.Fives is drugged by Nala Se, right under JEDI MASTER Shaak Ti's nose, and then presented to Chancelor Palpatine. Nala Sey insists the chip in every clone is fine, but Fives protests. Palpatine suggests he speak to Fives alone… So he can be more open and speak his mind. During this private conversation, Fives “attacks” Palpatine and is chased by Shaak Ti. She loses him when she orders a clone to “close the blast door”... always a mistake.Coruscant goes on lockdown looking for the wayward clone. Upon Anakin's suggestion, Mace instructs Anakin to conduct a “quiet investigation”... Anakin's strong suit. Fives goes on the run to a clone bar, the 79's. Fives explains to 501st clone trooper Kix what is going on and that he needs Anakin and Rex to meet him at some secret coordinates.Anakin and Rex show up at to meet Fives. He starts to explain what's going on with the chips and what's going on in his head… and in the process sounds a little cuckoo while explaining his theory. Palpatine's clone guards show up and shoot Fives… But not before he was maybe getting through to at least Rex, if not Anakin as well.Palpatine tells the Jedi that Nala Sey found out it was something in the water in Ringo Vinda, and that the Kaminoans have already developed a vaccine to administer to all clones. Palpatine and Dooku Spacetime (™) and congratulate themselves on covering up order 66.https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

Over the last 12 years and counting, Bryan Atchison and Neil Olstad have entertained audiences of all ages with the goofy, wholesome and undeniably fun music they make as Koo Koo Kanga Roo. Since its unassuming start as a project initially intended for a college talent show, the duo has performed at venues of all sizes and scope all around the world, spent a summer on the Warped Tour, shared the stage with acts like Frank Turner and The Aquabats, and made videos that have been viewed millions upon millions of times. Before they were a favorite among educators, children and anyone looking for catchy anthems about anything from pizza to fanny packs to Panera Bread, Atchison and Olstad were in a music fraternity and playing together in a folk-rock band. Recently, the Koo Koo Kanga Roo guys spoke to My First Band host Tyler Maas about the project's origin, its unexpected rise in popularity and the importance of maintaining an independent approach to releasing their music. Over the course of the upbeat hour-long discussion, Atchison and Olstad talked about working with Lazerbeak on their forthcoming album (Slow Clap, out May 21!), the ways remote learning has changed how they reach people, the process of releasing a record with Mike Park on Asian Man Records, and many of the notable experiences they've had along the way. Of course, the conversation also touched on Neil's punk rock past in Hometown Zeros, Bryan's sordid show choir history, their years as college roommates and much more. My First Band is sponsored by Mystery Room Mastering and Lakefront Brewery. The show is edited by Jared Blohm. You can listen to My First Band on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify and wherever else you get podcasts. Lazerbeak For our first episode of 2021, I’m excited to share a lively and inspiring conversation with Lazerbeak, member of the hip-hop collective Doomtree, GM and manager of Doomtree, Heart Bones, solo artist and musical collaborator and producer of Dessa, among others. Beak wears a lot of hats, and juggles them all in fine form. We chat about that juggling act, switching between his artistic endeavors while balancing business. We also discuss his early years in an indie rock band, his entry point into making beats and transitioning over into hip-hop with Doomtree, and how those relationships opened doors to work with Lizzo and, with Dessa, the Minnesota Orchestra. We go deep and into a bit of overtime, but it’s a fun journey and I hope you stick through it with us until the end.

This month's episode features ICETEP, who is half of Night Stone. Lazerbeak and ICETEP just released their debut self titled album. The trio talked about what's been entertaining them during quarantine, the pressure to be creative, and way more.
Aaron Mader has made quite a name for himself in the music industry. That name just happens to be "Lazerbeak." Using the moniker, the co-founder and CEO of Doomtree has released an abundance of his own music, produced songs with the likes of Lizzo, P.O.S, Mac Lethal and Dessa and delved into the world of artist management. Long before Mader was a Midwest music mainstay and one of the driving forces of an accomplished creative collective, he was an inexperienced teen in the Minneapolis suburbs who was struggling to get shows for his first band. That band — The Plastic Constellations — wound up lasting 13 years, being signed to French Kiss Records, touring and selling out spacious venues in Minneapolis before he could even legally drink. Along the way, Mader dabbled in beat-making and his Lazerbeak alias was born. The rest is history. Recently, Mader spoke to My First Band host Tyler Maas and told him about his impressive indie rock past, the origin and unexpected explosion of Doomtree, and how he stays both active and creatively fulfilled making music in his solo project, Shredders and the brand new Night Stone, and as part of a forthcoming band with William Elliott Whitmore and members of Ten Grand. Over the course of the lengthy and open discussion, Mader also talked about ways the COVID-19 crisis is currently impacting Doomtree and the artists he manages, accidentally sharing a stage name with an obscure Transformers character, his inspiring "little money in lots of places" approach and how Lizzo gave him a six-pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade to make beats for what would eventually become her Lizzobangers album. Jeyca Maldonado-Medina co-hosts the podcast “Tuesdays with Lazerbeak” and she’s feeling for all the bands that have had to cancel their shows. In particular, she’s been listening to “Gully Boys,” a self-described “boy band” made up of three non-boys who know how to rock. While their tour has been canceled, you can still listen to them on Spotify and other music platforms, and they’ll be performing live on Saturday on Facebook with NUR-D. What do you do when your puppet show’s been canceled? Turn it into a radio show! Ghost writer David Walbridge is impressed with how Z Puppets Rosenschnoz quickly converted their puppet show into a webcast “radio” show. He says it works because theater — in all its forms — is really about your imagination. “Through the Narrows” weaves together the stories a Cherokee boy travelling the Trail of Tears and a 3500-year-old Jewish woman crossing the Red Sea. Walbridge says their experiences navigating these “narrow” spaces are a fitting metaphor for our time. Angelique Powers teaches scenic art at the University of Minnesota, and admits she spends way too much time on Facebook. But it was on Facebook she discovered St. Joseph potter Joel Cherrico. She says she’s become a big fan of Cherrico’s live streams, where he invites you into his studio to watch while he throws pots. Powers says he makes it looks easy, and she finds watching him work mesmerizing and relaxing. Follow him on Facebook at Cherrico Pottery to get notifications when he’s streaming.

Can you imagine PJ Harvey walking down a small-town Main Street? Kurt Cobain antiquing in farm country? Yup, that happened. It was all thanks to Pachyderm Studio, a rural recording facility that used to be a family home. In this episode, we'll meet that family, plus a dozen musicians and engineers who've recorded some unforgettable work at the studio. Engineer Steve Albini tells us why Pachyderm is so special, and Lori Barbero from Babes in Toyland shares a story about taking Nirvana to the Mall of America. I will call this one the sniffles interview. When I stumbled into the Biltmore, I was no where near 100%, and I was very worried about not having a Kleenex to contain my snot drip, but this was the FIRST time the entire 7 member Doomtree crew was touring together. It was my chance to get more than one member together, talking about what they do. I found Dessa asleep in a booth in the club, sick herself. After I woke her up, she found Lazerbeak and we sniffled and snorted through this interview. For those who don't know, Doomtree are a unique entity in hip hop, a collective of members who collaborate and support each other thru their artistic endeavors. Even though everyone is sick, Dessa and Lazerbeak do not disappoint. Dessa talks about getting asked to join Doomtree and Lazerbeak reveals his dreams about meeting Jay-Z. Tracks played on the show... 1) Doomtree (ft Dessa & Mictlan), Doomtree "Kid Gloves" 2) Lazerbeak, Legend Recognize Legend "Bound" 3) Dessa, A Badly Broken Code "Dutch" NO songs CANCON
