Hello everyone! Today we have @simplyhossien on to catch a laugh and share a conversation surrounding working smart and not hard, as well as the art of happiness. Hossein was born in Iran and shares his experience moving to Canada, along with the culture shock and transition to English; and the differences between first-generation immigrants vs people born in Canada. Hard work means different things to different people, smart work can be done sooner rather than later putting you on the right path. We ask what does it mean to be 'smart' ? " it depends on where your goal is. you might be an idiot at gardening, but you might be amazing at things you are supposed to. To be smart, you have to be smart in things that apply to your goal" - Hossein. Are we able to set aside our ego in order to refrain from sinking the ship when we fail? What do you define your happiness to be? Is your happiness dependent on others or yourself? Overall this episode contains laughs all around and good conversations :) #notalone As always thank you for tuning into Paranoid in My Paradise. Want to know the team a little better? Join us on today's episode where we have RDV team member/friend plus a mentor to Saim - Nitin Gupta, accountant/entrepreneur, on to have an impactful and fun convo! This is more of an opinion-based episode, we all share our own input based upon our experiences or topics shared during this podcast. What do we value? How do we continue to try and help others while still carrying our own bags on our backs? Are we growing or are we not? We all want to make an impact, a lot of times we are so fearful of taking risks, however, we need to make that jump sometimes. What can you do today that will get you where you need to be in the future? Have we been evolving as a society? Is there improvement from our past generation, for example, is there more support for the LQBTQ community? Who is someone else to tell another person they cannot be who they are? A large portion of society lacks self-awareness, do emotionally unintelligent people have a hole inside their hearts? What are they masking? We touch on social media, everyone feels more confident behind a screen, is it a jealousy thing, insecurity? Why do others waste energy and time hating someone when they can put that time into their own things? At one point in all of our lives, we have experienced very low-self esteem, caused by the act of bullying or the environment. We talk and learn more about our younger selves vs where we are today. Join us today for good conversations and maybe a laugh. #notalone As always thank you for tuning into Paranoid in My Paradise. (Trigger Warning) this episode contains sensitive topics relating to mental health disorders. Viewer discretion is advised. Hello everyone! On this episode of Paranoid in My Paradise @saimfarooqui @brooklynletson @jseremyritchie18 have @spencerrnoble on to converse about Perfectionism and People Pleasing. We talk about how each can affect us in both negative and positive ways. Perfectionism in life can often make you feel unhappy and lead to depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-harm and many more health disorders. Why do we set unrealistically high expectations for ourselves? How are Standards different than perfectionism? Spencer is currently balancing kinesiology and nursing degrees, she states that often failure is a big fear, especially when it comes to perfectionism, however, she also states that without perfectionism she might not be where she is today. Spencer defines it as both helpful, and non-helpful. People pleasing can intertwine with perfectionism. People pleasers avoid conflict and take care of other's feelings/needs before giving a thought to their own, and usually cannot say no to others. This is often a sign of past trauma/current trauma. How does this affect us? Why is it important that we set boundaries, and get ourselves out of a people-pleasing mindset? Join us on today's episode for real talk. #notalone Guest Instagram - @spencerrnoble As always thank you for tuning into Paranoid in My Paradise. Hello Everyone! On this episode of Paranoid in My Paradise @saimfarooqui @brooklnyletson @jeremyritchie18, Ft. @Mitch_wagner have MBA/soon to be medical student @jatin.garg28 on to have a conversation about Discipline vs Motivation, and many more topics including social media, friends, challenges, running, support systems and valuable questions. Discipline can be applied to both pleasant and unpleasant tasks. When it happens to be unpleasant how do we continue to strive through it and not fall back on just motivation? What happens when someone may not be, in a position to start the process of discipline? How can we get ourselves out of a hole if we do not have a support system? "what happens when someone needs that motivation to get that discipline?" Jatin explains why he believes discipline is more valuable than motivation, he says "the balance is very subjective, I think it all comes down to what you need at the moment. If you have the discipline you don't need that motivation but sometimes you need that motivation to get started. Ultimately I encourage people to find the discipline and stop relying on motivation" What should be important in life? Hello Everyone! On this episode of Paranoid in My Paradise @saimfarooqui @brooklynletson @jeremyritchie18 @carterorieux converse on the joys of cooking and the cathartic release it brings. Cooking is more than a hobby, it is a passion that can create mindfulness, bonds, forms of nurturing and self-care. We touch on the Buddhist perspective of Happiness and Suffering, everything we see and experience is a result of action; action, in turn, relates to actions of the mind, and the mind is without beginning. Suffering has an end because it can be eliminated by cultivating positive counterforces. "Every day we go try to chase things that make us feel good, whether it be buying something new to satisfy ourselves, or going to the gym to get that good feeling. As soon as that ends you don't feel that anymore, the happiness it brought. They call these fleeting vibrations, fleeting as it does not stay very long, so what you are left with is either nothing or sadness. On the flip side, we are always trying to avoid negative things, we are always trying to push them away. Instead, Buddhism tells us to accept things for what they are" - Carter Orieux Does happiness have a different meaning to every person? What does it mean to you? Do you think we can ever have true happiness? What are things that can boost a mood? Join us on today's episode for some deep insight.
Hello everyone! On this episode of Paranoid in My Paradise @saimfarooqui @brooklynletson @jeremyritchie18 @austinaichele talk about human nature, insecurities, fear, love and life in general. Do people always have ulterior motives? Or can one be truly selfless? It is the things you do when others are not watching, that determine who you are as a person. Every action has a reaction. Why do we do things we know we should not be doing? Why do we want love? Why do some want it badly? Love is a partnership, where you work with weaknesses and strengths, and grow together. Is love at first genuine? Love is not like the movies, although most of us wish it was, however, you need to learn to love yourself first. Do soulmates exist? Soulmates do not just mean romantically inclined, a soulmate can be anyone you are spiritually connected to, a force of nature that binds two people, almost like fate or destiny. We tap into infatuation, relationships, connections, beliefs, values etc. Join us on this episode for a deep and meaningful conversation about life. "Mental health is not a destination, but a process, it is about how you drive, not where you are going" Noah Shpancer #NotAlone

Hello everyone! On this episode of Paranoid in My Paradise @saimfarooqui @brooklynletson @jeremyritchie18 @sloaneherriot get into the conversation of sustainability and consumption, and the media marketing schemes. From elementary science class to everyday adult life, we have been learning about consumerism and sustainability. Fast fashion, plastic waste, carbon footprint, media marketing, large corporations brainwashing young minds, are just some key highlights relayed in this conversation, that impact our everyday lives. Society is heavily influenced by minor and major things. We must be conscious of our decisions, ecology, environmentally, socially wise. BLM is not a media trend, it is a movement, forever. Our generation is just scratching the surface of repairing the wounds from the generations before us, many of us have had the privilege of never experiencing oppression, it is important we recognize, understand, support, encourage, and stand up for all communities. Unity ties us, humans, together. The faster we learn to come together, the faster we develop in this world.
Hello Everyone! On this episode of Paranoid in My Paradise with @saimfarooqui @brooklynletson @jeremyritchie18 have a conversation about the word "hate." As children, they taught us to not use the word hate, we must reflect on our emotions and thoughts before coming to such a conclusion as 'hate.' Is your cup half-full or half-empty? Optimism is fulfillment, fill others buckets full, including your own. Celebrate all of your achievements, big or small. In our lives, we all have these high and extremely low valleys. How do we continue to keep that as even, and on an upward trend? Balance. "If you're able to come out of a rough time in your life and see life a little differently, find that perspective, find that growth in yourself, that's a huge win and you should feel so proud of yourself for having the strength to do that." - Jeremy Ritchie. Give yourself the love you give others, you deserve it. We would love to donate to Mental Health Organizations. If anyone listening has suggestions for locally based Saskatoon, Mental Health Organizations, please send us a direct message @paranoidinmyparadise on Instagram. Thank you guys so much for all the support on our journey, remember you are not alone. #notalone
