Comedian and podcaster Emily Lubin exposes why diet culture rules our lives and how to rebel against it by eating what you want.

Listeners of RIP Diets that love the show mention:The RIP Diets podcast is a refreshingly relatable and informative podcast that delves deep into important topics surrounding diet culture and intuitive eating. From the very start, the conversational feel of the podcast makes it easy to connect with and enjoy. Hosted by Emily Lubin, the podcast tackles these topics in a helpful, funny, and sensitive way that keeps listeners engaged and entertained. Each episode leaves guests and listeners laughing and with something to ponder. It is definitely a podcast worth recommending.
One of the best aspects of The RIP Diets podcast is its ability to tackle important topics in an approachable manner. Emily dives deep into issues such as body dysmorphia, disordered eating, and the harmful effects of diet culture, all while maintaining a helpful and lighthearted tone. Her frankness and candor make it easy for listeners to relate to her experiences and learn from her insights. Additionally, the inclusion of guest interviews adds another layer of depth to the discussions, providing different perspectives on these complex subjects.
A potential downside of The RIP Diets podcast is that it may not be for everyone. While many individuals will find value in the discussions on intuitive eating and dismantling diet culture, those who are not interested in or open to challenging their beliefs around food and body image may not resonate with the content. Additionally, some listeners may prefer a more formal or structured approach to discussing these topics rather than the conversational style employed in this podcast.
In conclusion, The RIP Diets podcast is an enjoyable and thought-provoking exploration of important topics surrounding diet culture and intuitive eating. Emily Lubin's ability to discuss these matters in a relatable yet informative manner sets this podcast apart from others in its genre. It offers valuable insights into how we can challenge societal norms around body image and find a healthier relationship with food. Whether you're already familiar with intuitive eating or just starting your journey towards a more positive mindset, this podcast is definitely worth a listen.

Today we're talking all about Food Trends, with a special focus on desserts! I invited on professional baker, marshmallow maven, and fellow podcaster, Katherine Sprung, to talk all about how certain foods become trendy, if it's worth it to participate in the trends, and how the food trend cycle affects the seller as well as the consumer. This was a really interesting look at the hype machine that made the whole world obsessed with Cronuts, Crookies, Dubai Chocolate, and the monstrosity that is Crumbl. We also get nostalgic and revisit food trends that we participated in, and others that left us very confused. We also answer the age old question - is anything truly worth waiting in line to try? It's another Thursday episode, and I brought back my Tuesday guest, Abbey Roberts RD, to complain some more with me! Abbey has a bone to pick with Tradwifery and everything that goes along with it. Oh boy... today we're talking all about MAHA, aka Make America Healthy Again, aka the pile of trash that is RFK Jr.'s public health agenda. I have a great conversation with Registered Dietician and one of my personal faves on Instagram, Abbey Roberts, about what MAHA is, why we should all be very skeptical of every single thing RFK Jr. says, and how the current conversation around public health is becoming a BIG distraction so that we don't pay attention to the things that actually matter. PSA TO THE MOURNERS: We had some tech issues during the recording of this episode, and the sound quality is compromised. It's not up to my usual standards, and I sincerely apologize to you all! I improved it as much as I could, and I thought the content of the episode was funny, so I made the decision to still publish it. Just a tip - it sounds slightly better if you listen through speakers instead of headphones. My BFF Erica is back for another "I Have a Bone To Pick" Thursday! Today we have a bone to pick with celebrities who deny having any plastic surgery or cosmetic work, but we all know it's a lie and it's honestly insulting at this point. This episode is all about PCOS and Endometriosis awareness. These are chronic gynecological conditions that often go under the radar or get swept under the rug, and many women are powering through symptoms that are uncomfortable, painful, and often debilitating. First, I have a conversation with friend of the show, Macy Eleni, about her unique experience getting diagnosed and treated for Endometriosis, and she explains how Endo has affected her life and how assertive she has been with various doctors in order to get the medical attention she needed. I also have a conversation with content creator and PCOS warrior, Erika Hoang, who describes just how long it took to get answers about her symptoms and the lifestyle changes she has made in order to be her healthiest and happiest self. Please keep in mind that these are both personal accounts by women who have these chronic conditions, and it does not constitute medical advice. This episode is really about ~advocating for yourself~ and why you should always trust yourself when it comes to your own body! My fabulous guest from the Tuesday episode, Sam Previte, is BACK, and she has a bone to pick with #SkinnyTok! Oh boy, we are pretty riled up for this one. You're telling me that the same pro-ana content from the 2010s Tumblr era is back, but this time in VIDEO form? Nope - not today, Satan!!!! I have my sis Meliss (who is better than me) on the podcast this week for "I Have a Bone To Pick", and we're discussing a truly important girlhood issue that doesn't get talked about enough... why are we called "basic bitches" for simply enjoying things that everyone likes? We've had enough and we won't be silenced any longer! Melissa and I discuss our most "basic" interests, the "Millennial-core" aesthetic, the agony of trying to find unique clothes, and our favorite basic beverages, as well as so many other things! This is a little break from the typical diet culture topics, but let's be honest, diet culture is also super basic and deserves an honorable mention. It's a mailbag episode! I'm answering some listener questions and giving my two cents. Whew baby, we're back with another round of "I Have a Bone to Pick" featuring return guest and brilliant skincare maven, Charlotte Palermino! After educating us on the Tuesday episode, she is ready to blow off some steam and talk shit about all things DIETS and WELLNESS! The fact is... there are no facts! None of it is rooted in science. The majority of "wellness" is really about the pursuit of thinness, and we already know this. I bond with Charlotte over being stigmatized as a young child for being "chubby", being sent to camps that forced us to lose weight (although hers wasn't even technically a fat camp), and being asked "What's your secret?" when the answer is almost always GENETICS! This is a very passionate bone to pick for both of us, and will make you want to rail against the machine (hell yeah). For this special Thursday episode, I invited my friend Erica on the pod for "I Have a Bone to Pick". We both have had a bone to pick with the women's fitting room experience for quite some time, but the most egregious one of all is, hands down, the fitting rooms in the women's clothing store Aritzia. This is perhaps the most niche Bone to Pick yet, but the girls who get it are gonna GET IT. Listen to us air our grievances with Aritzia, as well as other annoyances such as boyfriends being allowed in women's retail stores, the fact that all our clothes are made of plastic, and our traumatic high school memories of shopping at Forever 21 with our teeny tiny friends. This is a fun, unserious Bone to Pick for our fellow women who are SICK of the in-person shopping experience, particularly at "cool girl" stores that make you feel like overpriced garbage. On this episode, I'm talking about GLP-1s and the icky way they are being promoted and sold to us under the banner of Wellness. I also talk about THAT Hims and Hers commercial that aired during the Superbowl and the ass-backwards messaging that we can't seem to escape. For today's conversation, I invited Dr. Erin Parks, clinical psychologist and co-founder of Equip, to discuss the impact of GLP-1 marketing on both people in larger bodies and people suffering from Eating Disorders. Once again, we never want to demonize anyone for taking any medication, but rather shed light on those who might be negatively impacted by the culture surrounding it. A few corrections on the content of this episode: Erin was correct that there was an elderly couple in "Titanic" who decided to go down with the ship holding hands. This was based on a real couple who made this decision in order to allow others to be rescued, since they were both quite old. It was truly a heroic act of self-sacrifice. (Source: Today) Erin quoted the Hims and Hers commercial as saying "75% of Americans are overweight," and I had remembered it as 76%. Turns out, we were both incorrect. The commercial said 74%. In any case, it's pretty irrelevant, since the statistic is bullshit. On this Thursday episode, I invited my friend and hilarious comedian Tracey Carnazzo on the podcast for "I Have a Bone to Pick." On today's episode, I seek to answer the question "What if I tried Intuitive Eating and it didn't work for me?" With the help of Binge Eating Recovery and Body Image Coach, Stefanie Michele, I attempt to better understand why Intuitive Eating doesn't "click" with certain people, and the most common things that get in the way when trying to heal your relationship with food. This conversation was pretty eye opening for me and made me recognize some patterns within myself that I had not thought too deeply about before. Do French people really eat all that bread, or is the "traditional French breakfast" actually just coffee and a cigarette? Emily talks about her irrational "fear" of McDonalds and fast food in general, and where it all stems from... the 2004 documentary "Super Size Me" by Morgan Spurlock. This movie rocked everyone's world. Back then, it was shocking that a man ate nothing but McDonalds for 30 days and... his health declined??? I'm not kidding - peoples' jaws were on the floor after seeing this documentary. For this episode, I watch the film for the first time in 20 years and attempt to de-program my fear of McDonalds, because at the end of the day, I'm not going to be taken out by some nuggets and fries.Submit your bones to pick or write me for advice at RIPDIETS@GMAIL.COMDM me on Instagram @LUBINATION or @RIPDIETS
Aaaaaaaaand we're back! On this episode, I read a listener's advice question about Binge Eating Disorder and offer tips on how to silence that voice that tells you to keep eating when you don't really need to. I give a personal account of how I took back control after years of binge eating (but remember, recovery is not always linear). Then, I break down some food news about a new coffee chain by the most loved and hated fast food chain in America, McDonald's. Enjoy yourself this holiday season and remember, DIETS ARE POINTLESS, especially during the holidays.
Happy National Cookie Day!!!! On this episode of RIP Diets, I announce some extremely relevant food news, followed by a deep dive on the very problematic one-size-fits-small clothing brand, Brandy Melville! I recount how I started casually buying clothes from this store, and why I am vowing to never buy clothes from them again. Brandy Melville is such a bigoted, racist, fatphobic brand and it cannot be ignored anymore, no matter how much they scratch that 2010s Tumblr Girl itch that we all have inside of us. Matt is a VERY picky eater and hyper sensitive, so his struggles with food still continue to this day because of how tricky it is to find things he likes to eat. If you struggle with food sensitivities or picky eating, you will feel seen and heard by my brother.Follow Emily @lubination on InstagramFollow RIP Diets @ripdiets on InstagramEmail Emily at ripdiets@gmail.comJOIN THE RIP DIETS DISCORD CHAT: https://discord.gg/WYGhF4YuCHECK OUT MY PATREON FOR MORE CONTENT at Patreon.com/ripdiets
