Federal contractors will be bombarded with opportunities; your bidding selection can make or break your company. The issue is balance.  If you respond to every solicitation, you won't get to them all and the ones you complete may not be thorough enough to be the winner. One can always throw humans at the problem, but nobody has the staff to even read the solicitations. Today, Brooke Smith from Deep Water Point & Associates presents an option. He talks about the right way to bid and the wrong way to do it. Of course, a year you should have been ahead of the RFP process. However, some funding hasn't been approved until late in the process. As a result, you will see new opportunities popping up. In order to eliminate contested awards, we may see task orders, GWACs, IDIQ, and even OTAs just to get work under contract before the end of the year. During this discussion, Brooke Smith details the role of automation that can help federal contractors use their limited time properly. They combine human experience with analysis of a company's capabilities to help them select the projects that can yield the best results. This is a “must listen” to learn how to optimize how your company can respond to year end offerings.

(I'm going to make a small bet - you've never met anyone quite like Angela.) Angela started off her career in the rag trade. She learned from the best and she had a wonderful time in fashion in Fulham in the 80s, living a wonderful life. But then she started to think she wanted to make a change . Deep-down Angela wanted to design gardens. She'd talk about it, tell her friends about it, but never actually did it – but then one of these friends gave her a moment of tough love (which was brilliant… Angela will explain) and everything changed. Angela created a second career not only designing gardens but growing flowers too. She returned to her beloved West Country and created a new home. But then a bombshell happened - after 30 years of marriage – Angela and her husband divorced and she found herself having to start all over again. I'm going to warn you, this is a ‘colourful' conversation - i.e there's lots of swearing if you're listening in front of children. But this is why I love Angela so much - Angela is Angela. In this episode we discuss: How she left the rag trade and became a garden designer The importance of knowing our worth - and how she does this The pain of a 30 year marriage ending (and a brave truth she shares with us) but how she moved through it. What it's really like to start all over again after all that time How a group of girlfriends - and her donkeys helped save her What it takes to be a real-life Badass and what you can do to be the same Angela believes life is simply too short not to be honest with ourselves. Be ready as she gives some tough love too. But Angela believes everything is doable - that all of us are capable of living a life we truly love and which is deep-down true to us.  To learn more about Angela you can find her at: https://flowerfusions.com/about-us/ The book we both love is : https://www.amazon.co.uk/You-Are-Badass-Doubting-Greatness/dp/0762447699 And you can  find me - my weekly-ish notes and my books (which I hope you'll also love) here: https://www.elliebarkerwrites.com/

The brilliant and hilarious Janet Varney returns to discuss a pick from her teenage years, The Night We Never Met (1993). Both agree there is much to enjoy with the movie's genuinely flawed characters and tougher moments. Bonus talk about how some of these fashions are alive and well today. Keep up with all of Janet's projects, especially The JV Club, Braving the Elements, and Truth & Justice with Bob Ruff. Frustrated with his inconsiderate roommates, Sam (Matthew Broderick) takes turns occupying an apartment with Brian (Kevin Anderson), a sloppy husband-to-be, and Ellen (Annabella Sciorra), an aspiring painter. Although Sam and Ellen never meet in person, they fall for each other through romantic gestures left during their individual days in the apartment. Also stars Jeanne Tripplehorn, Justine Bateman, Christine Baranski, Doris Roberts, Greg Germann, Dana Wheeler-Nicholson, Billy Campbell, Michelle Hurst, and early career Lewis Black, Naomi Campbell, Brooke Smith, Bitty Schram, Michael Imperioli, Paul Guilfoyle, and Garry Shandling. About Chapel: The chapel theme for the 2021-2022 year is "upRoar". The Greek word that is translated as “uproar” isἐκταράσσω (ektarassō),: to agitate, to disturb wholly, to exceedingly trouble. Although an uproar is “seen,” it is preceded with a subversive force. The church operates in a similar way, being subversive to the rhythm of the culture it exists within. It is the perpetuation of this subversive force that causes and creates an uproar that is seen and felt. It is our goal this year to explore ways for us to participate in the subversive kingdom force that will create an uproar in the culture God calls us to.
