UPDATED 6 January In Week 17's NFL Blitz: the New York Giants make the playoffs for the first time since 2016 after demolishing the Indianapolis Colts 38-10, Brock Purdy and the 49ers make hard work of the Las Vegas Raiders but win 37-34, and the Packers keep their playoff hopes alive after demolishing the Vikings 41-17. Also on the pod: the Jets season comes to an end after a 23-6 loss to the Seahawks, the Buccaneers secure the NFC South, and the Eagles show the value of Jalen Hurts as they lose their second straight game. Week 15 of the NFL was a bit weird and very entertaining: the Minnesota Vikings complete the biggest comeback in NFL history by beating the Indianapolis Colts after being 33-0 down, the Patriots have one of the dumbest plays of all time as they lose to the Las Vegas Raiders as time expires, and the Bills edge a narrow game against the Dolphins. Alex reviews the Divisional Round of the playoffs as arguably the best weekend of football we've ever seen, the Cincinnati Bengals shocked the one seed as the Tennessee Titans ask if Tannehill is the answer, the Green Bay Packers lose to the 49ers in what might be Aaron Rodgers' last game in the green and gold. The Rams almost suffer a collapse from 27-3 down against Tom Brady and Tampa, before being saved by Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp and Matt Gay, and the Chiefs beat the Bills in a 42-36 classic that had everything except defence. Alex looks back to the Wild Card Round of the 2021 Playoffs: the Bengals win their first playoff game since Nirvana's Nevermind album was new, the 49ers and Cowboys play out one of the best playoff games ever seen as Dak Prescott makes a dumb decision that even the Nickelodeon viewers would have known was terrible, whilst the Bills, Chiefs, Buccaneers and Rams coast to easy victories. Also on the pod: the erroneous whistle that the NFL claims didn't exist, something very Buffalo being thrown onto the pitch during a Patriots TD, and Booger McFarland's best every commentary line when describing a Kyler Murray pick six.
The last week of the NFL regular season surprised in many ways. Alex goes through all the games as the Colts managed to lose to the Jaguars to choke away their playoff spot, a spot claimed by the Steelers after their overtime win in Baltimore, coupled with the Chargers not being able to hold on for a tie, giving Big Ben at least one more game. In the NFC, the 49ers claimed their place in the playoffs with a game sealing overtime interception and Detroit have fun in beating the Packers, even with the chance of the number one pick in the draft.
