Welcome to the Green Light LIVE NFL Week 14 Reactions show! Chris, Beau and Dr. Fax break down the matchups, big games and storylines from around the NFL in Week 14. The Kansas City Chiefs had another magical ending, with Mahomes hitting Kelce for a first down late in the game and then ran the clock to set up kicker Matthew Wright for the winner which needed a little help to bounce in off the upright. Andy Reid and the Chiefs stay undefeated in one score games this season and have their last 15 one score contests. Justin Herbert played well, especially after the break but didn't see the ball for the final 4:35. The Seattle Seahawks dominated the first half against the Arizona Cardinals and held them off in the second half to extend their lead in the NFC West. Kirk Cousins returned to Minnesota with the Atlanta Falcons and had issues. The Vikings were all over Kirk and Sam Darnold outdueled him from start to finish. Darnold dropped a few dimes to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and the Vikings rolled to keep pace with the Lions in the NFC North. The NFL Playoff race is getting HOT! Rays Jazz ShopRays Jazz shop was originally Collets Jazz and Folk Records " The shop moved to Shaftesbury Ave in 1974 and the following year Ray came to an agreement with Chris Barber to store and sell a vast number of mint condition 78s which Chris had picked up from a warehouse in New Jersey. They were on the Savoy, DeeGee and Bop labels, still boxed in original packaging from the late 40s, by Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Dexter Gordon, Sonny Stitt, Wardell Gray & others. The publicity raised the profile of the shop, television and radio publicity followed, and Peter Clayton interviewed Ray, with Matthew Wright, for a broadcast on the BBC World Service,In 1983, Collets wanted to move the record shop but the jazz staff – Ray, Matthew and Bob Glass - had no interest in going. Ray decided that as it had been his life for nearly thirty years, he had most to lose and was more committed to it, so he bought the lease from Collets. They closed for a few days, pulled down a wall, repositioned the counter and reopened it as Ray's Jazz Shop, ready for trading. Ray's wife, Wendy, a professional illustrator, designed the cat logo for the shop. It quickly established itself and live music sessions were held there. It was a meeting place for musicians and legendary hipster Slim Gaillard became a regular. In 2002, spiralling costs and ill health forced him to give up the lease, but thanks to the endeavours of Paul Pace, the name lives on at Foyle's in the Charing Cross Road and in the words of Georgie Fame's song “Vinyl”.In his final years he only occasionally moved out of his home area of Camden, but could be seen from time to time at gigs, usually accompanied by close friend and musician Paul Shearsmith. April 12, 2024 - Season 14, Episode 114 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers signing free agent K Matthew Wright on Wednesday. We go over what Wright's addition means, his contract, and much more. We also look at the available 2024 salary cap space the Steelers have after signing Wright. The Steelers have had several more players in for pre-draft visits since our Wednesday show, so Alex and I recap all of that news and much more as this part of the offseason comes to a close. Are you ready for a long discussion about centers and the 2024 NFL Draft? We hope so because Alex and I discuss everything related to the top three ranked centers in this draft class, Graham Barton, Jackson Powers-Johnson, and Zach Frazier. Should teams be looking at Barton as a guard? Are the Dallas Cowboys destined to select one of Barton or Powers-Johnson in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft? Who else needs a center in the first two rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft? We attempt to answer those questions in this show. Will the Steelers ultimately need to trade up in the second round to secure one of Barton, Powers-Johnson, or Frazier? We address that question and look at one plausible trade scenario in this show. We go over several historical aspects related to the center position and NFL Drafts during this show as well. Several other minor topics not noted are also discussed in this 109-minute episode, and we end things by answering several emails that we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Packaging is everywhere, from plastic clamshells to cardboard boxes, and protective wraps to banana peels. The most successful packaging gets the core product where it needs to go in the right condition, and contributes to the customer experience in a way that it rewards the purchase process. In this episode of The Sourcing Hero podcast, Host Kelly Barner welcomes Matthew Wright. Matthew is the Founder and CEO of Specright, where he applies his 25+ years of experience in packaging to help companies derive maximum value from this constantly changing and highly strategic category. Matthew is also the author of “The Evolution of Products & Packaging: How a spec-first approach is revolutionizing the way companies make things.” In this interview, Matthew shares his point of view on some of the procurement-specific challenges and opportunities associated with packaging category spend: What is packaging and what are some of the top business challenges and objectives that intersect with this category of spend? How should companies think about what they are communicating (or not) and achieving (or not) through their packaging? What are some of the common data challenges associated with packaging specifications? How can procurement encourage the business to make decisions that take a broad range of objectives into consideration when selecting packaging designs and suppliers?   Links: Matthew Wright on LinkedIn

Mike is a computer scientist by education and graduated from the University of Delaware. They discuss Mike's background and how it is important to the future of product and business innovation in the packaging industry. Mike explains how he was a computer science major and his education has helped him in his career. He also mentions how he likes to work in his sunroom in his backyard and how spring is arriving in his area. Adam and Mike then move on to discussing the topic at hand. Mike Crow is a former CIO of Colgate Palmolive and a current board member of Spec Right. He has a long career in software development, first in the defense industry and then in the healthcare industry. Crow was introduced to Spec Right by a mutual friend and has been on the board for a couple of months. He has had exposure to Spec Right for a few years, having conversations with Matthew Wright and Laura from the leadership team. Crow became aware of the importance of packaging specification data management solutions in his former role as CIO at Colgate, Palmolive, recognizing that companies of all sizes benefit from understanding their data and information. Retiring CIO of Colgate, John Jones, had been working in IT for 34 years, with the last 9 as CIO. At Colgate, he had a broad purview across the entire business, including specifications and master data. He was not the one who first brought Spec Right to the organization's attention, but he quickly got involved with it as he understood the importance that data played in the way packaging engineers, mechanical engineers, and formula developers did their craft. After retiring from Colgate, he decided to stay close to the industry and join the board at Spec Right. His decision to join the board was based on the fact that he wanted to help the company innovate to save money, speed up processes, and bring multiple benefits to the organization. John explains why he chose to accept the offer to join the board of Spec Right. He was quickly impressed by the leadership team and their vision to combine domain expertise in engineering and manufacturing with cutting edge technology. John was further impressed by the easy implementation of the software platform, feedback from users, and its ease of support. He was surprised to learn that customers were using the platform for product and formula development, as well as sustainability reporting. He has a conviction in the company and believes they have a bright future. John attended the Spec Summit in Nashville earlier in the year and was happy to see its success. John explains that getting on a board involves an offer and typically has general responsibilities, although specific roles may vary.Timestamps0:00:00Conversation with Mike Crow: Exploring the Future of Product and Business Innovation0:02:05Conversation with Mike Crow: 34 Years in IT and 9 Years as CIO at Colgate Palm Olive0:04:03Conversation on Spec Right and Its Role in IT Innovation0:06:14Conversation with Retired Technology Executive on Joining Spec Right's Board0:11:14Conversation Summary: Leveraging Network Connections to Secure a Board Position0:13:19Conversation with Mike O'Neill on Joining a Board and the Future of Spec Right0:19:49Advice from a Long and Successful Career: Technology and People0:21:23Conversation with Mike, Retired Packaging Industry ExecutiveHighlightsSo obviously I loved working on technology, which is why in retirement, I still want to do some things to stay close to that, at least for a number of years here. But then as I rose up through the ranks in the organization and I was not as hands on with the technology, the thing that I found next most satisfying was developing people and taking care of people and giving advice to people. So I would say if I had to pick two of the things that I enjoyed the most, it was the technology and people, if I was to give any kind of career advice and how did I do it? Look, I don't claim to have any magic, secret or silver bullet as to how you have a long, successful career, but what worked for me was just always trying to do a really good job at the job I had and providing good customer service internally and externally and concentrating on that always led to the next step.I love that it's the adage, like there's people who work in the business and there's people who work on the business and you're going to need both to succeed. Thinking through the Nashville Summit that you attended, I'm thinking there's a component for a CFO if we start talking about taxes from Extender Producer Responsibility, where the accuracy of your packaging specification data along with other data formats when it comes to sustainability indexes is going to become critical. Thinking about Kevin Davis from Dermalogica, his presentation on the time and the accuracy that they had for reporting. There are now Chief sustainability officers, there are Coos, there's any number of different people. It can be other people with a broad perspective. In some of the other customers I've seen at Spec. Right. I've seen the head of Supply Chain have that broad perspective or the head of Digital Transformation for the company have that broad perspective or the head of a particular business unit in the company having that broad perspective on how specifications can be used across the entire business. So it's taking that initial set of benefits and then getting to the right people that have that broader perspective to see how it can apply across the entire company.Specifications run across everything. It's packaging materials, it's raw materials, it's the semi finished products, the formulas, the bill of materials, the finished goods and all of that data. And having that foundational data correct is so important for accuracy, for savings, for speed, for reporting on things like sustainability that we talked about. I think a lot of what I see with their existing customers this is not exclusively because I think some of their customers get the full breadth of what they do. But with a lot of their customers, including me being a former customer, I think we see people in certain domains, like maybe packaging in one company, being the champion for spec rate. In another company, it's the head of engineering who's using them for specifications for the manufacturing equipment. And so the stars kind of aligned at the right time with my retirement, with the connections that we had, them having an open spot, going to Spec Summit, finding mutual interest. Right. It was something interesting to me, and they felt that I was interesting to them in terms of the role. It's a general governance role. So there's some governance work that is involved in looking after, making sure the right controls are in place in the company. This is a public episode. Sustainability and supply chain, supply chain and sustainability. Over the past three years not a month has gone by where unPACKed didn't touch on one or both of these two issues. This episode approaches the issues from an entirely new angle.  Matthew Wright from Specright explains that the devil is in the data, and with proper data tools and management, companies can anticipate supply chain issues and thus increase sustainability by eliminating any previously undiscoverable hiccups in the supply chain. Join us for more of this important conversation at the Packaging Recycling Summit, presented by Packaging World Nov. 6-8, 2023, at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead. We had the pleasure of interviewing Tyson Motsenbocker over Zoom video.Where do dreams go when you become an adult? Well, they don't disappear or dissolve into the ether. Those dreams simply change with you. However, it doesn't mean you can't still grasp the way they made you feel. As such, we treasure memories by recalling them and sharing them as often as possible. Tyson Motsenbocker preserves those youthful memories in his music, etching them into the fabric of the songs. The Washington-born and California based singer and songwriter encases them in lithe melodies, upbeat soundscapes, and ponderous lyrics. After generating tens of millions of streams and cultivating a devout fan base, he examines the jump from childhood to adulthood – or maybe just the space between the two – on his third full-length offering, Milk Teeth [Tooth & Nail]. Tyson has consistently tuned into such emotions with relatability and vulnerability. Following his 2016 debut LP Letters to Lost Loves, he spent as much time as possible on the road, performing countless shows and captivating audiences across America and beyond. However, he connected deeply on 2020's Someday I'll Make It All Up To You. Meanwhile, “Autumn Love” was generating two and a half million Spotify streams. The followup single “Sunday Morning” followed close behind with nearly two million Spotify streams. Just a handful of shows into what was booked to be a two year touring schedule, Covid 19 shut all touring down. Motsenbocker and his band headed home, where a period of reflection ensued, setting the foundation for what would become Milk Teeth. Tyson hit the studio in Orange County, California with producer Nathan Cimino, drummer James McCalister, bassist Patrick Dodd and keyboardist Matthew Wright. Thematically reflected in the title (another name for “baby teeth”), the music struck a sweet spot akin to the “summer after you graduate from high school where you're walking the line between the confusion and excitement of childhood and the gravity of being an adult.” In the end, Tyson is an adult, and it ain't so bad. In fact, it sounds beautiful on Milk Teeth. We want to hear from you!
