Grounded for much of the past decade, has Jets GM Darren Mougey finally put together an offense that can rise from total embarrassment, to mere respectability with an occasional “light up the scoreboard” type of performance? The idea may not be all that far fetched in looking at the personnel the Jets have added. https://api.spreaker.com/v2/episodes/71889376/download.mp3 Plenty of skeptics laughed at the addition of quarterback Geno Smith, but the fact of the matter is that Smith is a much improved player since the last time he wore Green and White, and has a chance to produce at a level the Jets haven’t seen since the days of Ryan Fitzpatrick. If the signing of free agent guard Dylan Parham can shore up the offensive line, Smith should have plenty of time to operate with Olu Fashanu, Parham, Josh Myers, Joe Tippman and Armand Membou up front. Darren Mougey using a pair of draft picks on Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper and tight end Kenyon Sadiq gives offensive coordinator Frank Reich some dynamic pieces to work with. Adding the young rookies to an offense that already has Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall (for now), and Mason Taylor in place could have the Jets offense being a threat to actually put up a lot of points. The x-factor in all of this is wide receiver AD Mitchell. Obtained from the Colts as part of last season’s Sauce Gardner trade, Mitchell was once viewed as a first round draft pick. While he fell out of round 1, he still went in the second round (52nd overall) and did flash at times last year for Gang Green. If Mitchell can get even close to his ceiling in this offense, the Jets could potentially have three dynamic receivers with a pair of tight ends, especially in Sadiq, who can create a fair number of mismatches for opposing defenses. The post How Much Will Darren Mougey Moves Improve Jets Offense? appeared first on JetNation.com - New York Jets Blog & Forum. Absolute chaos on WFAN as Craig Carton goes on an all-time rant about the New York Jets bringing back Geno Smith. Carton says the move gives Jets fans PTSD, listing every quarterback who's started for the team since Geno was drafted, from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Aaron Rodgers, Zach Wilson, and even Mike White. His conclusion? Somehow the Jets are going right back to the beginning.
ohn McClain reacts to the impending Tytus Howard and David Montgomery trades, Jerry Schuplinski takes over as QB coach, and the 2026 coaching staff is set. Plus flag football. Marc Vandermeer goes solo on a packed Wednesday night that covers the full spectrum from blockbuster trade reactions to girls flag football. Hall of Fame writer John McClain opens the show with his trademark candor on the week's two trades: he loves the David Montgomery deal — "some members of the national media were criticizing it and I don't understand why" — highlighting that Montgomery's 33 rushing touchdowns over the last three years dwarf the Texans' red zone production (Montgomery had eight touchdowns alone last year; the entire Texans backfield had nine). McClain predicts Nick Caserio will trade out of the first round for the second consecutive year, potentially acquiring three second-round picks, and sees as many as three new offensive line starters in 2026. On Tytus Howard, he understands the financial reality with the Will Anderson Jr. extension looming — Anderson "might be the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history." McClain also weighs in on the Colts' transition tag on Daniel Jones, calls the Anthony Richardson pick "one of the biggest mistakes in the history of the draft," predicts Alec Pierce lands with Drake Maye and the Patriots, and offers his skepticism on Kyler Murray's work habits. Marc then breaks down the 2026 coaching staff announcement, headlined by Jerry Schuplinski taking over as quarterbacks coach after Jerrod Johnson's departure. Marc details Schuplinski's extensive NFL résumé — Patriots (three Super Bowls), Dolphins, Giants, Raiders, Rams under Sean McVay — and cites glowing endorsements from Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jimmy Garoppolo about his specific impact on their development. He emphasizes that the John Carroll connection doesn't define Schuplinski; his decade-plus of NFL experience across multiple offensive systems does. Marc also celebrates the returns of Corey Undlin (defensive passing game coordinator) and Dino Vasso despite both receiving outside interview interest. The middle segment features Amon-Ra St. Brown's podcast comments on Montgomery's departure from Detroit — "He's an RB1 on 31 other teams... I told everyone, keep him on your fantasy team because he's about to go even crazier" — and Marc's deep dive into NBC's throwback NBA broadcast, complete with Houstonized versions of the classic NBC and CBS basketball themes tied to Rockets championship memories. The show closes with Brett Stewart, Director of Youth Football Development for the Texans, discussing the explosive growth of girls flag football — 130-plus high school teams across Texas, the push for UIL sanctioning, the combined Senior Showcase that drew 525 boys and 228 girls with 70-plus college programs offering scholarships on the spot, and the road to the 2028 Olympics. Marc and Brett also build an all-Texans Olympic flag football roster featuring C.J. Stroud, Derek Stingley Jr., Nico Collins, Calen Bullock, and Kamari Lassiter.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jason says info wars have permeated sports media and white athletes are taking shrapnel. Josh Allen is the latest example of the scrutiny and bombardment Caitlin Clark has experienced. LeBron James took “supposed” friendly fire from within the Los Angeles Lakers' organization in an ESPN article. However, he has been on the offensive for a time with the Rich Paul podcast. Steve Kim and Jay Skapinac join Jason discussing sports media info wars. Jay Glazer says that Mike Tomlin is done coaching and that Brian Flores has limited opportunities because of his lawsuit against the NFL. Adam Thielen shares that Tomlin told the team prior to announcing his resignation that he wasn't worthy of being the Steelers' head coach, and Ryan Fitzpatrick says the Houston Texans could be forced to trade C.J. The guys dive into the evolving Darian Mensah situation and the broader transfer portal quarterback market, including Alberto Mendoza's departure from Indiana. The focus then shifts to the Miami Dolphins, where Joe pushes back on calling this a “rebuild,” but makes it clear the franchise must find a quarterback. He explains why tanking doesn't work—pointing to the Brian Flores era, when a midseason switch from Josh Rosen to Ryan Fitzpatrick sparked real improvement—and examines the current offseason outlook. With the new GM avoiding any mention of Tua Tagovailoa, Joe argues the team is dancing around the issue and says it's time for the Dolphins to move on and find their next QB.
Tim Benz thinks the Steelers need to find the right coach, not someone that fits their type as a defensive coordinator like Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher, and Mike Tomlin. Ryan Fitzpatrick questioned what type of Brian Flores NFL teams could be getting because his philosophy changed during his tenure and "became unrecognizable."
Hour 1 includes Joe previewing the Miami Hurricanes' CFP semifinal showdown against Ole Miss and what's at stake for the Canes on the national stage. The focus also remains on the Dolphins, as Joe puts the organization under the microscope with the GM search narrowed to four candidates and Miami emerging as a serious player in the John Harbaugh sweepstakes. He breaks down why roster deficiencies have given Mike McDaniel some benefit of the doubt, while emphasizing the need for major talent upgrades and more production from early draft picks. Plus, Brian Flores resurfacing in head coaching talks and Ryan Fitzpatrick's blunt assessment of Flores' tenure in Miami.
The show opens with a preview of the Miami Hurricanes' CFP semifinal matchup against Ole Miss and what's at stake for the Canes. Joe shifts to the Dolphins, addressing recent criticism, the GM search narrowing to four candidates, and the urgent need for a talent upgrade while praising standouts like center Aaron Brewer and a motivated Bradley Chubb. The discussion also highlights Mike McDaniel's innovative offense and the pressure on Miami's early draft picks to deliver. The segment wraps with coaching talk, including Brian Flores resurfacing in head coaching conversations and Ryan Fitzpatrick's candid comments questioning Flores' leadership style after his tenure in Miami.

In the first hour of the show: - Tobin is excited and peacocking his chest out after Ke'lal Ware's performance in the Heat win over the Brooklyn Nets. - Ryan Fitzpatrick's comments on Tua Tagovailoa being benched by the Miami Dolphins and his future with the organization.
The Steelers look to be peaking at the right time as they end the Dolphins season and Tua's future in doubt. JetNation Flight 29 is back, our weekly New York Jets podcast hosted by Rami Lavi and former Jets running back Bilal Powell. Each week, we offer Jets fans a veteran's perspective on game results, coaching decisions, and developing storylines. This week's episode mixed nostalgia and honest evaluation as Powell reacted to Leon Washington showing up in number 29 at the game on Sunday and people thinking it was Bilal. They also discuss Fernando Mendoza draft buzz after a standout throw, and dove into the frustrations of facing AFC East opponents for the second time. Powell also opened up about quarterback traits, coaching concerns, and lessons he learned in his own career, all while answering questions submitted by members of the JetNation Forums. Fernando Mendoza Buzz and AFC East Frustrations The Jets win may have placed them in range for Fernando Mendoza, and Rami highlights the third down throw that he believes put the quarterback firmly into the draft conversation. Powell also discussed how the Dolphins' latest win may have helped Mike McDaniel keep his job. That led to a wider point, Bilal Powell cannot understand why the Jets consistently struggle more in the second matchup with divisional opponents. He agreed with Bart Scott's criticism of Steve Wilkes and questioned whether Aaron Glenn truly believed Wilkes was the right choice at defensive coordinator. Powell wondered why Glenn hasn't considered retaking play-calling duties, warning that things “will only get uglier from here.” Attacking Tua and Learning From Other Rebuilds Tua Tagovailoa being a left-handed quarterback was one of Powell's biggest points of emphasis. He believes the Jets should attack him from the left side and finds it frustrating that the defensive approach hasn't consistently reflected that. Listener Liam Johnson also brought up how quickly the Jaguars and Bears have turned things around, and Powell agreed the Jets must stop relying on excuses while other franchises show faster and more effective rebuilds. BP on Quarterbacks and JetNation Forum Questions Powell spent time discussing quarterback development, including Brady Cook, the wide range of places successful quarterbacks are drafted from, and even jokingly comparing Fernando Mendoza's personality to a “goofy” Ryan Fitzpatrick. He shared how Anthony Lynn taught him to read defenses pre-snap, shaping the way he saw the game. The episode closed with JetNation Forum questions: Mr. Rogers asked whether the Jets should address wide receiver help through the draft or free agency, and Powell stressed the need to bring real support for Garrett Wilson. Slick TP asked what offense Powell would run if he were a coordinator, and Powell described a motion-heavy system built around quick reads and horizontal stress for young quarterbacks. The post JetNation Flight 29 – Fernando Mendoza Buzz, Coaching Concerns & Bilal Powell Answers Fan Questions appeared first on JetNation.com - New York Jets Blog & Forum.
Mike and Dave have an over abundance of tastings in this episode and it's a laugh fest. Just like the Jets on Thursday Night Football. Just like why you don't play Tyrod Taylor and you shouldn't put a HS player as Ryan Fitzpatrick on Prime post-game show. We nailed it and our mom's would be proud!!
The Giants score back-to-back home wins, crushing the Eagles 34-17 behind rookie QB Jaxson Dart and TD machine Cam Skattebo. Falcons RB Bijan Robinson clarifies for Rich how to correctly pronounce his name, reveals what he's learned from watching Christian McCaffrey to improve his already impressive skillset, says what advice he has for Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning, and more.
