Welcome to The "For the Makers" Podcast where we interview artists on their journeys, inspirations, and processes and encourage you, the makers, to listen well and tell stories. Today's guest is Rachel Lind. Rachel is an actor/writer based out of NYC. Originally from the great Pacific Northwest, she grew up loving theatre and telling everyone about it through song and dance (whether they asked for it or not). She is the recipient of a KCACTF Irene Ryan Nomination, and has trained with The Second City and Upright Citizens Brigade. Recent acting credits include Maria Rainer in The Sound of Music, The Baker's Wife in Into the Woods, and her solo shows I'm An Only Child and The Julie Andrews Tribute Show. As a writer, her credits include The Twilight Zoom with The Second City Chicago, her plays Taylor Swift at a Bar... and Men in Khakis, and several screenplays ready to be produced (Netflix, call me). On the side, Rachel loves coffee shop hopping, leading worship, and watching the Sandra Bullock filmography. Her goals are to be in one of the Knives Out films and to see Emily Blunt win the Oscar she so rightly deserves. Jason Yelowitz is a serial entrepreneur with expertise in online lead generation, advertising, and business development. He founded seven companies and currently brokers web-based businesses up to $50 million in value. The first three businesses that Jason started failed. Two closed simply from bad timing, while the other suffered from too much emphasis on marketing and not enough on profitability. But Jason didn't let those setbacks stop him. Instead, he used those lessons learned to equip him for the next opportunity. With a $300 investment, his fourth business – a website that connected real estate agents to buyers – expanded to make millions. In 2010, he leveraged all the entrepreneurial experiences he gained in his early career when he joined the team at Quiet Light as a business broker. In Episode 137, Dr. Ekstrom compared purchasing a business to an escalator when it comes to both becoming CEO and growing your wealth. But what if you're hesitant about buying or don't know where to start? Like a real estate broker, a business broker can help illuminate an intelligent path forward. As a seasoned business broker himself, Jason Yelowitz shares the value of working with a qualified professional. If buying a business sounds too daunting, consider private lending. Also called “hard money” lending. This can be another lucrative path to growing your wealth, this time passively. Jason dives into his experience in private lending and offers several parameters to decrease risk as you start. On this episode of Money Loves Women, join Dr. Deborah Ekstrom and Jason Yelowitz to learn more about learning from past mistakes, business brokers, and private lending. Topics Discussed: Business brokers Private lending Purchasing a business Growing your wealth through smart investments Managing risk Resources: Jason Yelowitz LinkedIn Jason Yelowitz Quiet Light Bio Jason Yelowitz' Book: The Bathrobe Millionaire: Confessions of an Unemployable Job-Hopper Who Made a Fortune without Work, Risk, or Khakis MLW Episode 137: Leveraging Acquisition in Entrepreneurship with Walker Deibel For more information on how to achieve financial freedom, personal mastery, and professional success, please visit https://moneyloveswomen.com/.

Our long-awaited first episode! Is it the dumbest idea for a podcast? Probably! We talk about our least favorite newspaper comic strip, 9 Chickweed Lane, written and drawn by Brooke (no relation) McEldowney. We kick this journey of rage off with the romance (?) of Thorax and Esme. According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9_Chickweed_Lane), Thorax is an amiable elderly farmer, who is "brilliant and odd beyond all description." He also appears to be anwhere between 90 and 100 years old. The object of his affection is Esme, a policewoman who is definitely in her 30s. In this first part (of three), Thorax introduces himself to Esme and has a lengthy conversation with himself through a typewriter. It ends with a sigh and a cliffhanger. Which seems an impossible combination, but here we are. The Chickweed strips we discuss this episode: The first three are here. (https://twitter.com/9chickweedRAGE/status/1563729301458919424?s=20&t=d1FgRE29hct43fXpzotThg) The last two are here.
