THE WEEK OF TRINITY IX - SUNDAYLESSON: LUKE 16:1-9He who trusts in his riches will wither, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf. Proverbs 11:28In this Gospel, “mammon” means surplus sustenance, including money, with which one can help others without injury to oneself. It is called “unrighteous mammon” by our Lord because of its daily use for unrighteous purposes and because it incites men to all kinds of unrighteousness.“Mammon” is also God's creation, like wine and corn, and God's creatures are good. But men can misuse God's good creatures and can fall into much sin in acquiring them. St. Paul tells the Ephesians that they should make the most of the time “because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16). The “time” or “the days” are not evil in themselves, but much evil occurs during these days or this time.Similarly, he speaks in Romans of “the day of wrath” (Romans 2:5), although the “day” in itself is quite good. But because God's “wrath” will be manifested on this day, it derives its name from this fact. So also, because “mammon” is used for all kinds of unrighteous ends, Christ here call it “unrighteous mammon.” It is surplus sustenance which we should use to relieve the needs of our neighbor and to help him. If we do not use it for this purpose, it becomes “unrighteous mammon” for us; we possess it unjustly, and it is stolen in God's sight. Before God we are in duty bound to give, to lend, and even to let men take what we have. According to the common proverb, the biggest moneybags are the greatest thieves. They have the biggest surplus and give away the least.SL 11:1447 (2-4)PRAYER: Heavenly Father, may the good gifts of Your creation never become a snare to us nor incite us to all sorts of acts of unrighteousness, either in sins of omission or sins of commission. Grant us grace to use these gifts for our own welfare and the sustenance of our neighbor, for Jesus' sake. Amen.Editor's note: No American Edition (AE) equivalent for today's sermon excerpt exists at the time of this publication. "Why me?"  Predestination is a Biblical truth:  God made a choice before He created the world.  What was the choice, and why does it include you? Ephesians 1:3-14 (Evangelical Heritage Version) 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.4He did this when he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ. He did this in accordance with the good purpose of his will, 6and for the praise of his glorious grace, which he has graciously given us in the one he loves.7In him we also have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in keeping with the riches of his grace, 8which he lavished on us in all wisdom and insight. 9He made known to us the mystery of his will in keeping with his good purpose, which he planned in Christ. 10This was to be carried out when the time had fully come, in order to bring all things together in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth.11In him we have also obtained an inheritance, because we were predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in keeping with the purpose of his will. 12He did this so that his glory would be praised as a result of us, who were the first to hope in Christ.13In him, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and in him, when you also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. 14He is the down payment of our inheritance until the redemption of God's own possession, so that his glory would be praised. You are Blessed but not Special. God chose you in Christ. The Holy Spirit Seals you in Christ

Life As It Was Meant To Be Part 4: Building Great Relationships Louie Marsh, 7-4-2021     1) PUT OTHERS ahead of myself.   “1Therefore when we could bear it no longer, we were willing to be left behind at Athens alone, 2and we sent Timothy, our brother and God's coworker in the gospel of Christ, to establish and exhort you in your faith,” (1 Thessalonians 3:1–2, ESV)   Don't be selfish; don't live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Philip. 2:3 (NLT)   Not Neurotic living of performance for acceptance, which we've talked about last week, but being humble – CHOOSING to serve others because of the love of Christ!   2) Focus on ENCOURAGING others.   “2and we sent Timothy, our brother and God's coworker in the gospel of Christ, to establish and exhort you in your faith, 3that no one be moved by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are destined for this.” (1 Thessalonians 3:2–3, ESV)   Remember Paul was in JAIL – he had his own problems yet was concerned about others too!   “9He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.” (Titus 1:9, ESV)   Encouragement comes in many forms – teaching (doctrine) is one, but only one way to encourage those around you – you discover what kind of encouragement to use NOT by checking with how YOU feel or what YOU think – but by discovering THEIR condition and then responding appropriately.   3) TELL the whole ugly truth!   “3that no one be moved by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are destined for this. 4For when we were with you, we kept telling you beforehand that we were to suffer affliction, just as it has come to pass, and just as you know.” (1 Thessalonians 3:3–4, ESV)   Paul was honest – the truth isn't always ugly – but it often is, we must tell it like it is, with love!   “18“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.” (John 15:18, ESV)   Jesus was honest, at times brutally honest – let's not sugar coat the truth – but tell it truthfully and skillfully.   4) OPENLY SHARE my struggles.   “7for this reason, brothers, in all our distress and affliction we have been comforted about you through your faith.” (1 Thessalonians 3:7, ESV)   Paul didn't make the mistake we often do – thinking we must remain stoic, not revealing our trouble so we can help others!  A generation ago Ministers were actually taught never to let their members see them without a tie on!!  That's not a biblical approach – instead honest openness is what we need if we are to build real relationships.   5) FREELY EXPRESS  my deepest feelings.   “8For now we live, if you are standing fast in the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 3:8, ESV)   Paul wasn't embarrassed to open his heart and let them know how much he cared for them. How about us??   “1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God according to the promise of the life that is in Christ Jesus, 2To Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.” (2 Timothy 1:1–2, ESV)   Timothy wasn't his son, yet he loved him like one and was afraid to say so in a very public forum!   …and the secret ingredient is…   PRAYER that is…   THANKFUL   “9For what thanksgiving can we return to God for you, for all the joy that we feel for your sake before our God,” (1 Thessalonians 3:9, ESV)   INTENSE   “10as we pray most earnestly night and day that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking in your faith?” (1 Thessalonians 3:10, ESV)             Story of boy having to say his prayers, and his “Ditto” prayer!   RELATIONAL   “11Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you,” (1 Thessalonians 3:11, ESV)   DEEP   “12and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you,” (1 Thessalonians 3:12, ESV)   CHRIST Centered & ETERNITY minded.   “13so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.” (1 Thessalonians 3:13, ESV)

Daily Bible Encouragement

Isaiah 53:9He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. There's a lot of talk about ‘identity' in our society at the moment. Whilst we might take issue with where some people now draw the line between which aspects of identity are fixed and which can be chosen, we all recognise the frustration that comes from being wrongly-identified. The passionate football supporter doesn't take kindly to being thought of as supporting an opposing team. If someone makes a wrong assumption about our political affiliations, we may well be offended. From time to time I get emails intended for a woman in America who must have an email address that's easily confused with mine. I find it easy to ignore the marketing emails from companies that she has signed up to, giving my email address by mistake. But I mind much more when I get email reminders in her name from a debt management company. I feel like I've been wrongly assigned to the category ‘debtor' and I don't like it. At least until I remember that it isn't really me that they're talking to.So imagine how it felt for Jesus to be wrongly assigned to the category ‘wicked'.  There could be no greater miscarriage of justice than to identify the perfect and holy Son of God as belonging ‘with the wicked'.  In our society, we might think that being identified with ‘the rich' was a compliment, but from the context of these verses it's clear that being buried with the rich somehow implies an involvement with violence and deceit. His grave ought rightly to have been labelled ‘Here lies the best man who ever lived'. But instead it's in the section marked ‘Here lie the criminals'. Yet this wasn't the first time in his life Jesus had been wrongly-labelled. Throughout his earthly ministry, the Pharisees repeatedly assigned him to an incorrect category. As Jesus himself put it, “The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, “Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.”” The implication is clear – to be a ‘friend of sinners' must mean that he himself is a sinner.  Yet they are only half-wrong. He is certainly not a glutton, nor a drunkard, nor a sinner. But he is the ultimate ‘friend of sinners'. The Servant was willing to be mislabelled, misunderstood and misrepresented, in order that we might be assigned to a category we could never have expected to belong to. “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)Let's praise him for that today.

Scripture: Colossians 2:6–7 (NKJV) 6As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Ephesians 3:16–19 (NKJV) 16that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Matthew 13:3–9 (NKJV) 3Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. 5Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. 7And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. 8But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” John 15:4–5 (NKJV) 4Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 1 Peter 2:9–10 (NKJV) 9But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. 1 Corinthians 3:16–17 (NKJV) 16Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

Running Or Hiding From God Won’t Work; If He Asks You, Do As He Asks! Jonah 1:7 - 16 7Then the sailors said to each other, “Come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this calamity.” They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah. 8So they asked him, “Tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us? What kind of work do you do? Where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?” 9He answered, “I am a Hebrew and I worship the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.” 10This terrified them and they asked, “What have you done?” (They knew he was running away from the Lord, because he had already told them so.) 11The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, “What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?” 12“Pick me up and throw me into the sea,” he replied, “and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you.” 13Instead, the men did their best to row back to land. But they could not, for the sea grew even wilder than before. 14Then they cried out to the Lord, “Please, Lord, do not let us die for taking this man’s life. Do not hold us accountable for killing an innocent man, for you, Lord, have done as you pleased.” 15Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm. 16At this the men greatly feared the Lord, and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made vows to him.

1To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul. 2O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. 3Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. 4Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. 5Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. 6Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. 7Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O LORD! 8Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. 9He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. 10All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies. 11For your name’s sake, O LORD, pardon my guilt, for it is great. 12Who is the man who fears the LORD? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose. 13His soul shall abide in well-being, and his offspring shall inherit the land. 14The friendshipb of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant. 15My eyes are ever toward the LORD, for he will pluck my feet out of the net. 16Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. 17The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses. 18Consider my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins. 19Consider how many are my foes, and with what violent hatred they hate me. 20Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me! Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. 21May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you. 22Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

Discipleship Series #13 A Disciples Heart Was Made For INTIMACY WITH GOD By Pastor George Lehman (Our heart was made to be God’s home.) The word Intimacy means: - * closely acquainted (to know a person / up close and personal) * Intimate friend – Someone you can trust and confide in * Relationship between – It’s a strong bond, it’s always two sided Paul’s greatest desire was for intimacy with God Philippians 3:8 and 10 (Amp) – 8But more than that, I count everything as loss compared to the priceless privilege and supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord [and of growing more deeply and thoroughly acquainted with Him-a joy unequalled]. For His sake I have lost everything and I consider it all garbage, so that I may gain Christ. 10And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did]. How intimately do you want to know God? It is possible to go through the motions of obeying God and His commands. All this and yet: - not have an intimate relationship with God.                           So busy with the things of God and miss the God of the things. Isaiah 45:5 (Msg) – “I AM GOD, the only God there is. Besides Me there are no real gods. I’m the One who armed you for this work, though you don’t even know Me.” Did you know that Moses had this type of relationship in the beginning of his ministry with God? Exodus 33:12-13 (Amp) – 12Moses said to the Lord, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people,’ but You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have also found favour in My sight.’ 13Now therefore, I pray you, if I have found favour in Your sight, let me know Your ways so that I may know You[becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with You, recognizing and understanding Your ways more clearly] and that I may find grace and favour in Your sight. And consider also, that this nation is Your people.” At this point in Moses’ life he had been obedient to God’s instructions For example: - He led Israel out of Egyptian bondage. 1A     This is a type of us coming out of bondage to a new life in Christ. He helped Israel pass through the Red Sea. 2A     It’s a type of crossing over from death to life – through the obedience of baptism. I Corinthians 10:1-2 (NIV) – For I do not want you to be ignorant of that fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. 2They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea Acts 2:38 (NIV) – Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. He led Israel to Mount Sinai where God gave him the 10 Commandments. 3A     This is a type of the clear instructions of how we should live as God’s children – as per His word. The amazing thing is Moses obeyed Gods instructions. But yet he never knew God in an intimate way. Note Exodus 33:13(NIV) – “If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favour with you.” The sad similarity to this story is: Some Christians today are following God’s commandments and instructions. But do not “know Him” in an up close personal intimate way. How I remember serving God in my own life, out of fear, legalistic, keeping rules, trying to be obedient. In case God zapped me. When I see this scripture, I realise God is not only a God of wrath, fury, anger, just and Righteous. But a God of love who longs for His children to have an intimate relationship with Him. Exodus 34:5-7(NIV) – 5Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord. 6And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.” This passage, God reveals Himself in a personal way.  Then Moses said, “Now show me your Glory” Exodus 33:18 Moses asks to see God’s glory and God shows him His character. Gods glory is: - * Gods character * God’s Nature The way He relates to the prince of his creation “mankind”. God never gave Moses some vision of His great majesty, a tour of the universe, or showed Him all his wealth.  No!!! Here are 3 wonderful characteristics of God that I trust will help us understand something about our awesome God. So we can develop a more intimate relationship with God. (Note Moses’ reaction) Exodus 34:8 “Moses bowed to the ground at once and worshiped.” (Draws into an intimacy with God) Romans 2:4 (NIV) – “Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?” Firstly 1. First to know God in an intimate way. We must understand that God is a compassionate and gracious God. David sums it up: Psalm 145:7-9 (NIV) – 7They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. 8The Lord is gracious and compassionate; slow to anger and rich in love. 9The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. God is so compassionate that when we sin, He graciously and mercifully forgives us. God is so compassionate that He blesses us with food, a roof over our heads, jobs, provision and protection Words cannot express how great our God is. James 5:11b – The Lord is full of pity and compassion and tenderness and mercy. You can this week go to God and thank Him for being so wonderful to you. Secondly 2 To know God in an intimate way – we must understand that God is slow to anger. Some people think God is like our earthly father. They think God is quick to become angry with us when we make a mistake. However, the truth is that when we make a mistake, God is patient with us and slow to anger. Psalm 103:8-11 (NIV) – 8The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 9He will not always accuse, nor will he harbour his anger forever; 10he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11For as high as the heavens are above the earth. So great is his love for those who fear him. God is not like us. Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV) – 8”For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9”As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” When we get angry, we want to get even – we hold grudges, we become bitter, we live with Unforgiveness, we act Love-less Thank God He does not treat us as our sins deserve. He is slow to anger. Thirdly 3 To know God in an intimate way we must understand that God is abounding in LOVE. John 3:16-17(NIV) – 16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. No greater act of love has ever been demonstrated than when Jesus gave His life to save ours. To reconnect us to have an intimate relationship with Him. Romans 5:8 NIV “That God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. I John 4:8 – God is LOVE. Aren’t you glad you can have an intimate relationship with this kind of God? Who is compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Conclusion If you do not have an intimate relationship with God – it’s probably because you don’t know Him very well or maybe you’ve never met Him in a personal way.

Acts 21:126 (ESV) Paul Goes to Jerusalem And when we had parted from them and set sail, we came by a straight course to Cos, and the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara. 2And having found a ship crossing to Phoenicia, we went aboard and set sail. 3When we had come in sight of Cyprus, leaving it on the left we sailed to Syria and landed at Tyre, for there the ship was to unload its cargo. 4And having sought out the disciples, we stayed there for seven days. And through the Spirit they were telling Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. 5When our days there were ended, we departed and went on our journey, and they all, with wives and children, accompanied us until we were outside the city. And kneeling down on the beach, we prayed 6and said farewell to one another. Then we went on board the ship, and they returned home. 7When we had finished the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais, and we greeted the brothers and stayed with them for one day. 8On the next day we departed and came to Caesarea, and we entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him. 9He had four unmarried daughters, who prophesied. 10While we were staying for many days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11And coming to us, he took Pauls belt and bound his own feet and hands and said, Thus says the Holy Spirit, This is how the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. 12When we heard this, we and the people there urged him not to go up to Jerusalem. 13Then Paul answered, What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. 14And since he would not be persuaded, we ceased and said, Let the will of the Lord be done. 15After these days we got ready and went up to Jerusalem. 16And some of the disciples from Caesarea went with us, bringing us to the house of Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we should lodge. Paul Visits James 17When we had come to Jerusalem, the brothers received us gladly. 18On the following day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present. 19After greeting them, he related one by one the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry. 20And when they heard it, they glorified God. And they said to him, You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed. They are all zealous for the law, 21and they have been told about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or walk according to our customs. 22What then is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come. 23Do therefore what we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow; 24take these men and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may shave their heads. Thus all will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself also live in observance of the law. 25But as for the Gentiles who have believed, we have sent a letter with our judgment that they should abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. 26Then Paul took the men, and the next day he purified himself along with them and went into the temple, giving notice when the days of purification would be fulfilled and the offering presented for each one of them.

Easter MessageApril 12, 20201 Corinthians 15:50-58 (NASB)50 Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 But when this perishable will have put on [g]the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. The Mystery of Resurrection - What did Christ’s Resurrection Accomplish? We are New Creatures (Verse 50)2 Corinthians 5:16-17 - Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.We are Imperishable (Verses 51-53) 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 - So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. Philippians 3:20-21 - For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform [n]the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself. We Share in His Victory over Sin and Death (Verses 54-57)John 5:24 - “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. Isaiah 25:8-9He will swallow up death for all time,And the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces,And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken. And it will be said in that day,“Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us.This is the Lord for whom we have waited;Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”We Sanctified for the Lord’s Work (Verse 58)1 John 3:14 – We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death. 1 John 4:7 – Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.1 John 4:19 - We love, because He first loved us.1 John 4:21 - And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.

The Damascus Road 1Now Saul was still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord. He went to the high priest 2and requested letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any men or women who belonged to the Way, he might bring them as prisoners to Jerusalem. 3As he traveled and was nearing Damascus, a light from heaven suddenly flashed around him. 4Falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” 5“Who are you, Lord?” Saul said. “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting,” he replied. 6“But get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” 7The men who were traveling with him stood speechless, hearing the sound but seeing no one. 8Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing. So they took him by the hand and led him into Damascus. 9He was unable to see for three days and did not eat or drink. Saul’s Baptism 10There was a disciple in Damascus named Ananias, and the Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” “Here I am, Lord,” he replied. 11 “Get up and go to the street called Straight,” the Lord said to him, “to the house of Judas, and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, since he is praying there. 12In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and placing his hands on him so that he may regain his sight.” 13“Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard from many people about this man, how much harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem. 14And he has authority here from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.” 15But the Lord said to him, “Go, for this man is my chosen instrument to take my name to Gentiles, kings, and Israelites. 16I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.” 17Ananias went and entered the house. He placed his hands on him and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road you were traveling, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18At once something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized. 19And after taking some food, he regained his strength.

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished. 9He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. 11 After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.Support the show (http://www.sanctuarychurch.nyc)

A Kingdom Torn In Two by Jason Adams I Kings 12:1-11 The Northern Tribes Secede 12Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.2When Jeroboam son of Nebat heard of it (for he was still in Egypt, where he had fled from King Solomon), then Jeroboam returned from* Egypt.3And they sent and called him; and Jeroboam and all the assembly of Israel came and said to Rehoboam,4‘Your father made our yoke heavy. Now therefore lighten the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke that he placed on us, and we will serve you.’5He said to them, ‘Go away for three days, then come again to me.’ So the people went away. 6 Then King Rehoboam took counsel with the older men who had attended his father Solomon while he was still alive, saying, ‘How do you advise me to answer this people?’7They answered him, ‘If you will be a servant to this people today and serve them, and speak good words to them when you answer them, then they will be your servants for ever.’ 8But he disregarded the advice that the older men gave him, and consulted the young men who had grown up with him and now attended him. 9He said to them, ‘What do you advise that we answer this people who have said to me, “Lighten the yoke that your father put on us”?’10The young men who had grown up with him said to him, ‘Thus you should say to this people who spoke to you, “Your father made our yoke heavy, but you must lighten it for us”; thus you should say to them, “My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist. 11Now, whereas my father laid on you a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. My father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.” ’

1Dead flies make a perfumer’s oil stink, so a little foolishness is weightier than wisdom and honor. 2A wise man’s heart directs him toward the right, but the foolish man’s heart directs him toward the left. 3Even when the fool walks along the road, his sense is lacking and he demonstrates to everyone that he is a fool. 4If the ruler’s temper rises against you, do not abandon your position, because composure allays great offenses. 5There is an evil I have seen under the sun, like an error which goes forth from the ruler— 6folly is set in many exalted places while rich men sit in humble places. 7I have seen slaves riding on horses and princes walking like slaves on the land. 8He who digs a pit may fall into it, and a serpent may bite him who breaks through a wall. 9He who quarries stones may be hurt by them, and he who splits logs may be endangered by them. 10If the axe is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength. Wisdom has the advantage of giving success. 11If the serpent bites before being charmed, there is no profit for the charmer. 12Words from the mouth of a wise man are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him; 13the beginning of his talking is folly and the end of it is wicked madness. 14Yet the fool multiplies words. No man knows what will happen, and who can tell him what will come after him? 15The toil of a fool so wearies him that he does not even know how to go to a city. 16Woe to you, O land, whose king is a lad and whose princes feast in the morning. 17Blessed are you, O land, whose king is of nobility and whose princes eat at the appropriate time—for strength and not for drunkenness. 18Through indolence the rafters sag, and through slackness the house leaks. 19Men prepare a meal for enjoyment, and wine makes life merry, and money is the answer to everything. 20Furthermore, in your bedchamber do not curse a king, and in your sleeping rooms do not curse a rich man, for a bird of the heavens will carry the sound and the winged creature will make the matter known.
