1Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has desamparado? 19Mas tú, Jehová, no te alejes; Fortaleza mía, apresúrate a socorrerme.
"Why me?" Predestination is a Biblical truth: God made a choice before He created the world. What was the choice, and why does it include you? Ephesians 1:3-14 (Evangelical Heritage Version) 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.4He did this when he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ. He did this in accordance with the good purpose of his will, 6and for the praise of his glorious grace, which he has graciously given us in the one he loves.7In him we also have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in keeping with the riches of his grace, 8which he lavished on us in all wisdom and insight. 9He made known to us the mystery of his will in keeping with his good purpose, which he planned in Christ. 10This was to be carried out when the time had fully come, in order to bring all things together in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth.11In him we have also obtained an inheritance, because we were predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in keeping with the purpose of his will. 12He did this so that his glory would be praised as a result of us, who were the first to hope in Christ.13In him, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and in him, when you also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. 14He is the down payment of our inheritance until the redemption of God's own possession, so that his glory would be praised. You are Blessed but not Special. God chose you in Christ. The Holy Spirit Seals you in Christ
THE WEEK OF TRINITY III - THURSDAYLESSON: MATTHEW 18:10-14He told them this parable: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one which is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.' … Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin which I had lost.'” Luke 15:3-6, 8-9Christ is the shepherd, and He is also the woman. It is Christ who has lit the lamp, that is, the Gospel, and it is Christ who walks about in the wilderness, that is, the world, and who sweeps the house seeking the lost sheep and the lost coin. He does this seeking with His Word so that, first of all, sin is proclaimed to us and, thereafter, grace and mercy.When we are told here that the shepherd takes up the lost sheep on His shoulders, the reference is to the fact that our sin has been laid on Christ's shoulders. This certainly must strengthen our confidence in Christ, and this must also follow from the way in which tax collectors and other sinners flocked to Him and were received by Him. Had they regarded him as nothing but a stubborn judge, they would never have come to Him. But these sinners recognized themselves as sinners in need of His grace. And when they heard tell of His attractive words, they came to Him.Learn from this that we should seek out our neighbor to cover his shame with our honor and to hide his sin with our piety.SL 11:1239 (15-16)PRAYER: It is not Your will, O Lord, that we should ever delight in the sins of others and gloat over them, but that we should rather help them to repentance and provide joy in heaven. Fix this truth in our hearts in such a way that we always act according to it, for the sake of Jesus our Savior. Amen.Editor's note: No American Edition (AE) equivalent for today's sermon excerpt exists at the time of this publication. JOHN 16:9-15 "And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. 12I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. 15All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you".

ENEMY OF THE STATE When the state (the powers that be) backstabs the church by whatever means… it seeks to use its power to ‘silence’ the gospel (a major issue in spiritual warfare). The goal is always to crush the church into… subjugation, silence and suppression. The empire of Rome sought to persecute and then eliminate the early Christians. The Nazis sought to replace the church with a ‘state religion’ and render the church irrelevant. The atheistic communists persecuted and punished believers as does China and many other countries and don’t even mention the Muslim nations like Syria and Iran… Christians are jailed, persecuted, killed and more. THE ELEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS - CHRISTMAS XILESSON: EPHESIANS 1:11-14He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom, our righteousness and sanctification and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30It is quite certain that Christ has been given to us so that all His righteousness, and also all that He has and is, stands before us as though He is our very own possession. He who believes this will also experience, it, just as St. Paul said, “He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, will he not also give us all things with him?” Romans 8:32. Likewise, in the Epistle to the Corinthians, “He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom, our righteousness and sanctification and redemption.” 1 Corinthians 1:30.So, you see, he who believes in Christ in this way, puts Him on. Faith, therefore, is such an important matter that it saves such a man and justifies him; for faith brings him all the blessing of Christ on which the conscience can comfort itself and rely.Such a man also becomes joyful in Christ, and happy to do all good and avoid what is evil. He fears neither death nor hell, nor any evil, and is richly clothed in Christ.Hereby a full satisfaction is also rendered to the Law, and such a man is never under the subjection of the Law. For he has also received the Holy Spirit with the garment in his soul: he is clothed with God's adoption and so he is God's child.SL.XII.266,53AE 76,20PRAYER: Thanks and praise be to you, O God, for the fullness and riches of your mercy and grace in Christ, and not least for the earnest of your Spirit in my soul, assuring me that I am, indeed, your beloved child. Amen.
Luke 11Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us,2just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word.3Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus,4so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.5In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron.6Both of them were upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord's commandments and regulations blamelessly.7But they had no children, because Elizabeth was barren; and they were both well along in years.8Once when Zechariah's division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God,9he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to go into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.10And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled worshipers were praying outside.11Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.12When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear.13But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.14He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth,15for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth. 16Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God.17And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous--to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."18Zechariah asked the angel, "How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years."19The angel answered, "I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news.20And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their proper time."21Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering why he stayed so long in the temple.22When he came out, he could not speak to them. They realized he had seen a vision in the temple, for he kept making signs to them but remained unable to speak.23When his time of service was completed, he returned home.24After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion.25"The Lord has done this for me," she said. "In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people."26In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee,27to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary.28The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."29Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.30But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.31You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,33and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."34"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"35The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/reformedeve/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/reformedeve/support
Luke 18:9-14He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.' But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”Do you have a prayer request? https://ubcellsworth.org/#prayer If you need help or counseling....click here https://ubcellsworth.org/biblical-cou...
FAITH WORDS The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. John 6:63 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17Luke 1:5-20 In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. 6Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly. 7But they were childless because Elizabeth was not able to conceive, and they were both very old. 13But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the LORD, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our LORD Jesus Christ. 15So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. 16May our LORD Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
For the choir director. A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD, who spoke to the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said,-18-1--I love You, O LORD, my strength.--2-The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,-My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge--My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.-3-I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised,-And I am saved from my enemies.--4-The cords of death encompassed me,-And the torrents of ungodliness terrified me.-5-The cords of Sheol surrounded me--The snares of death confronted me.-6-In my distress I called upon the LORD,-And cried to my God for help--He heard my voice out of His temple,-And my cry for help before Him came into His ears.--7-Then the earth shook and quaked--And the foundations of the mountains were trembling-And were shaken, because He was angry.-8-Smoke went up out of His nostrils,-And fire from His mouth devoured--Coals were kindled by it.-9-He bowed the heavens also, and came down-With thick darkness under His feet.-10-He rode upon a cherub and flew--And He sped upon the wings of the wind.-11-He made darkness His hiding place, His canopy around Him,-Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.-12-From the brightness before Him passed His thick clouds,-Hailstones and coals of fire.-13The LORD also thundered in the heavens,-And the Most High uttered His voice,-Hailstones and coals of fire.-14He sent out His arrows, and scattered them,-And lightning flashes in abundance, and routed them.-15Then the channels of water appeared,-And the foundations of the world were laid bare

They take pleasure in falsehood.They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse.For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.—ExpiationLuke 18:9–14He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”—DedicationHebrews 9:19–28For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, saying, “This is the blood of the covenant that God commanded for you.” And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship. Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. Thus it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the holy places every year with blood not his own, for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

In Christ You Are Holy – Sunday, June 30, 2019 – Steve Miller Did you brush your teeth this morning?From Wikipedia: “Individuals that practice oral hygiene have 1,000 to 100,000 bacteria living on each tooth surface, while less clean mouths can have between 100 million and 1 billion bacteria on each tooth.”What does it mean to be God's holy people? I believe He gave me this analogy:“I have called you by name; you are Mine. Live, therefore, as My holy people. You are holy if you trust in Me. The one who believes in Me does not live in sin, just as a person who takes a shower does not live in dirt and grime after he gets dirty. You don't go to work in the morning without brushing your teeth. You can't help the bacteria growing in your mouth at night, but you brush them away every morning and night. You don't embrace them. Grace makes you My clean people, My holy people. Being holy, you put on My righteousness by the means of grace every day. Be holy, then, as I am holy. You are My offspring, holy in Me.”It's really true that we live in an environment that is prone to splatter us with spiritual dirt. Although born again, we still live in mortal bodies with our sinful nature – the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak Although growing in Christ, we are not fully mature The enemy tempts us – prowls about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour We live among sinful people – challenging to properly relate to them, walking in love and forgiveness while hating sin and avoiding falling into it Wrong ideologies surround and influence us – lies and confusion lead to sin and problems – how to understand and believe the truth so that we can live in abundant life? Temptations to sin – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life Distractions abound that waste our time and draw us away from our true calling and purposes The world hates us – “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated Me first.”It's easy to see how daily these factors can multiply around us like germs multiply in our mouths and under our armpits. How can we continue to live daily as God's chosen, holy people?1 Peter 1:13-16 – 13Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” Greek: hágios – different (unlike); for the believer, it means "likeness of nature with the Lord" because "different from the world." It implies something "set apart" and therefore "different" – because special to the Lord. Even though we live in a world corrupted by sin, selfishness, rebellion and all kinds of things that are contrary to God's nature, when we were saved, were born again and made new and holy like God, through faith in Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit who came to dwell in us. We were adopted into God's family and given the righteousness of Christ. We were given restored purpose in the world as brothers and sisters of Jesus in God's family. We are different from the world; we are special to the Lord. Colossians 3:1-14How can we clothe ourselves in righteousness by his means of grace every day? What means do we have? Family – We are in God's family, part of a community of faith in Jesus. One means of grace is that God has not left us alone to live out our faith in this world. Firstly, He has given us the Holy Spirit to dwell with us and in us, to facilitate direct communication between us and God and to download all the resources of love, power, and truth that our Father and Savior have provided for us in Christ. He is our Advocate, Helper, Counselor and Defender. Secondly, He has given us brothers and sisters in the faith. He has transformed, equipped, called, and empowered each of us to be real and effective help to grow to maturity and successfully navigate this life while accomplishing God's purposes for us individually and corporately. None of us were ever meant to walk the Christian life alone, nor would God want us to. We are His body and His family, meant to function together as a unit. Repentance of sins – We repented when we came to Christ, but there is another sense of repentance that is a daily necessity in our relationship with God and with His people. The first way to deal with the sins we commit as Christians and our day-to-day failures is to repent – to confess it to the Lord and receive His forgiveness and healing. Yes, Christ has already paid the price for all of our sins – past, present, and future – but sin is destructive to our relationships, our health, and even our faith when it is not dealt with, and we should never ignore it or choose to dwell in it.In this process we have two other allies: the Holy Spirit who lives within us, and our brothers and sisters in the body of Christ. James 5:16 – Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Hebrews 10:19-25 Washing with the Word of God – God's Word is truth, and it is living and active through the Holy Spirit when we read or hear it. His Word washes us with truth and cleans us from spiritual muck that sticks to us daily.Ephesians 5:25-27 John 15:3 John 17:17 Walking in God's purposes for our lives Philip Goodson of Living Light Church in Kenosha, WI: “What made a bowl holy? What made the lampstand holy? (This is not the whole thing of holiness, but it's a part of it.) That bowl was holy when it was used for what God intended it to be used for. It was the fact that it was consecrated and set apart and was to be used for a particular purpose. If you want to experience some holiness in your life, understand what God has created you and made you and called you to do, and do it, and you're holy.” “Holiness is not just about me walking in a sinless perfection, which we're not going to do anyway. It's not about just being that part or looking that part, or overcoming that sin in my life. But am I being used for what God created me to be used for? And if I'm being used for that, I'm holy unto the Lord.”How do we know whether we are being used for the purposes God created us for? The first step is to yield to Him, to offer ourselves to what He wants for our lives and submit to His Lordship. In that frame of mind, then seek Him and ask Him to reveal Himself and His truth to us. Praise and thank Him for your life and your salvation, and ask Him to show you His purposes and open the right doors for you to walk through with Him. 1 Thessalonians 2:13-14 – 13But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 16:12–22 12[Jesus said:] “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 16“A little while, and you will see me no longer; and again a little while, and you will see me.” 17So some of his disciples said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me’; and, ‘because I am going to the Father’?” 18So they were saying, “What does he mean by ‘a little while’? We do not know what he is talking about.” 19Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, “Is this what you are asking yourselves, what I meant by saying, ‘A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me’? 20Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. 21When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. 22So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.”
Instead of asking "Do you want to hear God better?" some people are unsure whether He speaks in this age or not. But aren't you glad that He does. His most common way to speak to speak to us is through Scripture. Although we can understand the words with our mind, we need the revelation of Precious Holy Spirit to help us grasp the meaning of Scripture. He also speaks to our spirit. I remember the first time God spoke to my heart. I was so concerned about my dad's salvation, so I was praying as I walked to my grandma's house. I saw a big hardened rock of clay in the ditch. I continued my prayer "God, My dad's heart is as hard as that rock." God whispered, "I can melt the heart of stone." That one whisper was a promise I held onto for years and years until he was saved. I can't begin to tell you what it did for me. Let me try to frame it this way, instead of fear I had hope that fueled my faith. Did I really hear God? I also remember an incident that made me doubt that I could really hear God's voice. I felt impressed, which means a strong feeling in my heart, like I should stop by the church on my way home from work. But when I got to the church, the office was closed. I pulled my car under the portico and waited for awhile. I left feeling so stupid. I figured that I had totally missed God and didn't hear God’s voice. Win-Learn And I can miss Him! I have missed it. Humans make mistakes. And when I make a mistake I repent and keep on learning. I embrace the win-learn philosophy; not the win lose one that stops people from even trying! But when I actually prayed about the situation, I felt God tell me, "Are you willing to obey me even when you don’t understand...even when you don't see any results?" It was a truth I needed learn at that stage in my life. There have been so many times God has asked me to do things that I didn't understand! His Word is proof. Yet, there is a more important reason that makes me believe that God speaks today- His Word. We can't afford to base our beliefs on our experiences. The foundation for our faith and life must be based on Scripture. So much I want to tell you Look at John 16:12-15 NLT 12“There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. 13When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. 14He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.15All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’ My Sheep know my voice John 10:1-5 1“I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber! 2But the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. 5They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.” Are you thinking, “Not me! I don't know His voice.” We’ve all been there. But maybe the problem is not that God is not talking, but only that we are not listening. Psa 78:1 NLT O my people, listen to my instructions. Open your earsto what I am saying, There are radio waves all around you right this minute! But in order to hear any of them you must tune in, then and only then will you hear them. As believers we have to learn, that's right learn to hear God. Pay attention how you hear Luke 8:18 NLT 18“So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.” Matthew 13:11-12 11He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not. 12To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them. I talk about these two verses in Episode 6 Right Thinking Begins With Right Listening. It is an episode in my launch series "Think God's Way for a Change." If you haven't listened to that series you are missing an opportunity to seriously change the way you think. You can always listen to them on my website as well. https://www.patriciaholland.org/blog/ Hearing God’s voice is so important. The albatross are magnificent seabirds. Both the mom and dad albatross take turns sitting on the eggs. That's not particularly unusual, but what is unusual is that they talk to their eggs. They crane their neck close to speak in their sweetest albatross language; eek, eek, eek! Yet, these birds aren't doing it to be sweet, it is critical that their baby learn to recognize their voice. The albatross nest in colonies, so when this baby hatches from it's egg, it must recognize it's parents voice. Only it's parent will feed it and if it can't recognize its parent's voice it won't make it back to the nest or to it's parent to be fed. It is just as critical that you learn to recognize God's voice. There are many voices in this world...they can be very convincing! If you don't train your ears, you can get confused, sidetracked and lost! Look at Moses in Exodus 3. It's a familiar story, but let's look at it from the lens of how he listened to God. 1O One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. 2There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up. 3“This is amazing,” Moses said to himself. “Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it.” 4When the LORD saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, “Moses! Moses!” “Here I am!” Moses replied. 5“Do not come any closer,” the LORD warned. “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground. 6I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” When Moses heard this, he covered his face because he was afraid to look at God. He was curious. He wanted to know more. So he moved closer to the fire. He recognized it was Holy ground. Most of the time God speaks to us through the voice of Scripture. It is also the filter than you must use for whether it is God speaking to you or not. If it contradicts Scripture, then it’s not God. He gave the Holy due reverence. Humble yourself. Respect it for what it is.(Richard Crisco carried his Bible would never put anything on top of it.) Make it a priority. Submit your opinion to embrace God’s. We don’t want the Bible to change our opinion; we want it to reinforce what we already believe. It’s supposed to change you. It’s supposed to challenge you. Heb 4:12 ESV For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. God can talk to you all sorts of ways and in all sorts of places. Mary Boyd will often ask children "Where was the most unique place you prayed this week?" I want to change that question a little, "Where was the most unique place God talked with you?" On a treadmill or a bicycle? On a roof? In a tree? Watching TV? In church? The point is you don't have to be sitting in a prayer posture somewhere for God to speak to you. Isaiah 30:21 NLT And whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear this command behind you: “This is the way. Walk in it.” God has all sorts of ways of getting our attention. God is not a silent partner. A.W. Tozer says "It's the nature of God to speak." He wants to guide you and instruct you. Yet, you must lean in to listen. Without caller ID you recognize your husband's or best friend's voice because you know them. You've spent time with them. You know how they say things and the tone and quality of their voice. As you spend time with God you'll learn to recognize His voice better and better. He knows what is best and directs us toward it. Issaac Hoopii is a good example of how the Holy Spirit guides us. He was a Pentagon police officer when the Pentagon was hit on 9-11. Amidst the confusion and burning debris he called into the flames, "Come to my voice," Then he carefully guided the victims to safety. That is one of the roles of Precious Holy Spirit. He is an awesome guide. He'll never get you lost...but if you make a wrong turn you'll probably hear Him say something like recalculating as He guides you back on the correct route for your life. I'd like to give you a free download... this .pdf includes: 4 keys to help you hear God's voice, 3 filters to help you answer- "How do I know that I really heard God?" 10 reasons we don't hear God speak to us. John 13:36-14:141. A promise, v. 36-38-Psalm 103:9-14He promises that He is with us in our darkest times. Psalm 23:4He promises to give us wisdom if we ask. James 1:5He promises that in all things He is at work. Romans 8:28He promises to provide a way out of temptation. I Corinthians 10:13 He promises that as Christians we are forgiven forever. Hebrews 10:8-14He promises that our salvation is secure, no matter what. John 10:28-29He promises that He is not put off by our weaknesses. 2 Cor. 12:8-10He promises to never leave us nor forsake us. Hebrews 13:5He promises that this was His idea. Philippians 1:6He promises to come back. John 14:3Important to remember this…God makes two types of promises: 1) unconditional promises – this is a promise void of conditions. Nothing has to happen for this to be true, it depends on nothing but the nature of the person making the promise. 2) conditional promises –this promise is subject to certain qualifications or requirements. 2. A peace, v. 1This peace is the by-product of believing in two people who are one...believe in God- this is a statement about Godbelieve also in me- this is a statement about you. Four things we are saying about ourselves when we say we believe in Jesus…1) I am sinful and separated from God- Jesus is necessary2) I am incapable of making myself right with God- Jesus is needed3) I am in need of Someone to solve this problem- Jesus is sufficient4) I am loved by God- Jesus is the demonstration of the Father’s love3. A place, v. 2-3Steps in a Jewish Wedding1) Marriage covenant- the Father pays for the bride and establishes the marriage covenant2) Bridal chamber prepared- the son returns to his father’s house and prepares the bridal chamber3) Bride is fetched- at a time determined by the father, the groom fetches the bride to bring her to his father’s house. Although the bride is expecting the groom to come to her, she does not know the time of his arrival. Because of this his arrival is preceded by a shout, which warns the bride to be prepared for his coming. 4) Bride is cleansed- the bride undergoes ritual cleansing prior to the wedding ceremony.5) Wedding ceremony- private wedding ceremony6) Consummation- in the privacy of the bridal chamber the bride and groom consummate the marriage7) Marriage Feast- celebratory marriage feast to which many are invited. 4. A person, v. 4-11a) the way- b) the truth- “…assuming that yo have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus…” - Ephesians 4:21c) the life--John 1:1-5The word “zoe" refers to life real and genuine, a life active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed, in the portion even in this world of those who put their trust in Christ, but after the resurrection to be consummated by new accessions (among them a more perfect body), and to last for ever.5. A possibility, v. 12-14Questions for reflection…Which one of these fuels the way you relate to God? The promises you make or the promises He has made? Today we heard how God deals compassionately with us because “He knows our frame.” Do you “know the frame” of those you have authority over and how does this affect the way you deal with them?Do you believe there is a place for you in heaven?Should the reality of heaven influ

The Names and Titles of Jesus – The Son of Man Episode 100 This series of the names and titles of Jesus will give us a more in-depth understanding of Jesus Christ our Lord. This is ninth in the series. The following is an outline. What name or title did Jesus purposely call himself more than any other? The Son of Man- Jesus chose that title to refer to himself 50 times, not counting the times it is repeated in the gospel Son of Man = ben Adam = son of a Human Son of God = Divine The Son of Man= human----Jesus was the 2nd Adam-----God called Ezekiel “son of man” 90 times 1) no article 2) Ezekiel was a typology of Jesus-80 parallels Johns Rev Who is the Antichrist? Many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh; any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist! 2 John 1:7 The Son of Man title is so much more than Christ was human Dan 2 40And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. 41And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. 42And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. 43And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. 44And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. 45Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure. Dan 7 12As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. 13I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. 27And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. In the days of the fourth kingdom, the Roman Empire The Son of Man will come who is the Messiah. 2. The Son of Man will establish a kingdom that will destroy all other kingdoms and be an everlasting kingdom 3. The Son of Man kingdom will come into existence when he ascends into heaven/comes to the ancient of days = God and sits on his throne 4. We learn from other prophecies that when he comes he will do away with sacrificial system/which means the destruction of the Temple and create a new covenant 5. The Son of Man will become the judge of all the earth/all other kingdoms and their inhabitants. 6. The Son of Man kingdom will not be destroyed nor will The Son of Man Be destroyed Phase 1 Jesus comes to earth calling himself The Son of Man and God bearing witness with miracles. – 50 times without counting duplication. Jesus comes proclaiming the kingdom is at hand. Jesus explains the nature of the inhabitants of the kingdom and the nature of the kingdom itself parable after parable – Many of these explanations are totally contrary to what they believed Daniel taught about the Son of Man and the coming kingdom. Phase 2 Jesus begins to lay the bombshells that will destroy most of what the Jews believed about The Son of Man. The Son of Man is not just the Messiah, He is God. Luke 5 The Son of Man is Devine 17And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. 18And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. 19And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. 20And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. 21And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? 22But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? 23Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? 24But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. 25And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. Luke 12 The Son of Man is Devine 5Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? 6But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. 7But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. 8For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day. 14Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him John 9 Son of Man is the Son of God and divine 34They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out. 35Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? 36He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? 37And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. 38And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. Son of Man is the son of God and divine He receives worship from human beings. He's worshiped as a baby Matthew eight is worshiped by the leper Matthew nine he's worshiped by the woman Matthew 15 he's worshiped Matthew 28 is worship by the disciples Revelation 5 is worshiped in heaven by the heavenly host He's worshiped in John 9:35 Phase 2 Jesus begins to lay the bombshells that will destroy most of what they believed about The Son of Man. The Son of Man is not just the Messiah, He is God. 2. The Son of Man who is the Messiah and God in the flesh is going to die. Matthew 16 13When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 21From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. 22Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. Luke 18:31Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. Luke 9:44Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. Luke 18:31Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. John 12 King James Version (KJV) 23And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. 32And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. 33This he said, signifying what death he should die. 34The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth forever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man? Phase 2 Jesus begins to lay the bombshells that will destroy most of what they believed about The Son of Man . The Son of Man is not just the Messiah, He is God. The son of man who is the Messiah and God in the flesh is going to die. Phase 3 His ascension and glorification and receiving a kingdom because of his death, burial and resurrection The Son of Man at His ascension is glorified and received the kingdom Son of Man Daniel 7 13“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. The ascension of The Son of Man John 6:62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? Mat 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Act 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God Phase 2 Jesus begins to lay the bombshells that will destroy most of what they believed about The Son of Man . The Son of Man is not just the Messiah, He is God. The son of man who is the Messiah and God in the flesh is going to die. Phase 3 The Son of Man at His ascension and glorification and receiving a kingdom because of his death, burial and resurrection The Son of Man at His ascension is glorified and received the kingdom Phase 4 The Son of Man is now the Judge of all humanity John 5 :27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man Matthew 26 57Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled. 58But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. He entered and sat down with the guards to see the outcome. 59The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death. 60But they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally, two came forward 61and declared, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’” 62Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 63But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.” 64“You have said so,” Jesus replied. “But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”[e] 65Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy.66What do you think?” “He is worthy of death,” they answered. • 67Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him 68and said, “Prophecy to us, Messiah. Who hit you?” SO WHAT! Hebrews 4 14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[f] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. *We apologize for the sound quality on this recording.* This is the 16th class on the book of Hebrews. This Bible class was taught at the Pilot Point Church in Pilot Point Texas. The following is the outline of the class. Christ the Mediator of a New Covenant The old covenant was inadequate and faulty, the new covenant is complete will never age The old covenant was inadequate because of its nature/law of works. The old covenant was inadequate because of its national/civil function and administration. The old covenant was faulty because its membership did not know God – had to be taught about God. The old covenant was faulty because once you sinned God could not make you right with that covenant. The old covenant was faulty because it was not designed to last forever. The Place of Jesus Ministry Hebrews chapter 9 9 Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary. 2A tabernacle was set up. In its first room were the lampstand and the table with its consecrated bread; this was called the Holy Place. 3Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place, 4which had the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered Ark of the Covenant. This ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron’s staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant. 5Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now. 1 Kings 6 (NIV) 14So Solomon built the temple and completed it. 15He lined its interior walls with cedar boards, paneling them from the floor of the temple to the ceiling, and covered the floor of the temple with planks of juniper.16He partitioned off twenty cubits at the rear of the temple with cedar boards from floor to ceiling to form within the temple an inner sanctuary, the Most Holy Place. 17The main hall in front of this room was forty cubits[i] long. 18The inside of the temple was cedar, carved with gourds and open flowers. Everything was cedar; no stone was to be seen. 19He prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the LORD there. 20The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long, twenty wide and twenty high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold, and he also overlaid the altar of cedar. 21Solomon covered the inside of the temple with pure gold, and he extended gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, which was overlaid with gold. 22So he overlaid the whole interior with gold. He also overlaid with gold the altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary. Leviticus 16 11“Aaron shall bring the bull for his own sin offering to make atonement for himself and his household, and he is to slaughter the bull for his own sin offering. 12He is to take a censer full of burning coals from the altar before the LORD and two handfuls of finely ground fragrant incense and take them behind the curtain. 13He is to put the incense on the fire before the LORD, and the smoke of the incense will conceal the atonement cover above the tablets of the covenant law, so that he will not die. 14He is to take some of the bull’s blood and with his finger sprinkle it on the front of the atonement cover; then he shall sprinkle some of it with his finger seven times before the atonement cover. Hebrews 9 (NIV) 6 When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. • 7But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. • 8The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still functioning. • 9This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper. • 10They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order Matthew 27 45From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. 46About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,[c] lema sabachthani?” (Which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).[d] 47When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling Elijah.” 48Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. 49The rest said, “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.” 50And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. 51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split Hebrews 9 (NIV) 10They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order 11But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here,he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. The Son’s Sacrifice is Superior to the O.T. Sacrifice Hebrews chapter 9:12-10:18 Hebrews 9 (NIV) 11But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here,[a] he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. 12He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. 9This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper. Hebrews 9 (NIV) 13The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. 14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! 15For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. Hebrews 9 16In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, 17because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living. (NIV) 16For where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it. 17For a covenant is valid only when men are dead, for it is never in force while the one who made it lives. • (NASB) Hebrews 9 (NASB) 18Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood. • 19For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20saying, “THIS IS THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT WHICH GOD COMMANDED YOU.” 21And in the same way he sprinkled both the [v]tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood. 22And according to the [w]Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. Matthew 26 (NASB) 27And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; 28for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. Hebrews 9 23Therefore it was necessary for the copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; Subscribe to the podcast: {Apple Podcasts}{Stitcher}{Google Play}{IHeartRadio}
And Jesus said to the man, Stand up and go. Your faith has made you whole ~Luke 17:19 “We can never DO the work of God in a dark world until we are motivated first by what God has DONE for us” “We can never LOVE the world in the name of Christ until we are first filled with the LOVE of Christ for us” 11As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. 12As he entered a village there, ten lepers stood at a distance, 13crying out, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" 14He looked at them and said, "Go show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy. 15One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, "Praise God!" 16He fell to the ground at Jesus' feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. 17Jesus asked, "Didn't I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? 18Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?" 19And Jesus said to the man, Stand up and go. Your faith has made you whole ~Luke 17:11-19 The number of those who pray is greater than the number of those who praise The number of those who believe is greater than the number of those who praise Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. ~Psalms 100:4
14He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his saints, for the people of Israel who are near to him. Praise the Lord! Psalms 148:14
A good name is to be more desired than great riches, Favor is better than silver and gold. Proverbs 22:1 FIRST, WHAT FAVOR ISN’T: Favor Isn't Fairness. Favor Isn't Happiness. Favor Isn't Just For You. The FAVOR OF GOD is the GUARANTEE of His PRESENCE and the PROVISION of His POWER to accomplish His DIVINE PURPOSE. Elijah and Elisha - 1 Kings 19:19-21 (NASB) So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, while he was plowing with twelve pairs of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth. And Elijah passed over to him and threw his mantle on him. 20He left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Please let me kiss my father and my mother, then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?” 21So he returned from following him, and took the pair of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the implements of the oxen, and gave it to the people and they ate. Then he arose and followed Elijah and ministered to him. GOD’S FAVOR MEANS THAT YOU DON’T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT - YOU GET MORE! Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us… Ephesians 3:20. WHEN GOD DOESN’T GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT, IT’S BECAUSE HE PLANS TO GIVE YOU MORE THAN YOU WANT! Finding God’s FAVOR: Not WHAT I Want, MORE than I want. When It’s Not Right – God Says NO! When You’re Not Right – God Says GROW! When The Time Is Not Right – God Says SLOW! When IT’S Right, YOU’RE Right, And The TIME Is Right - God Says GO! 2 Kings 2:9-13 When they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said, “Please, let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” 10He said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.” 11As they were going along and talking, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire which separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind to heaven. 12Elisha saw it and cried out, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” And he saw Elijah no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces. 13He also took up the mantle of Elijah that fell from him and returned and stood by the bank of the Jordan. 14He took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him. GOD’S FAVOR IS ALWAYS MORE THAN YOU ASKED FOR. GOD’S FAVOR IS ALWAYS MORE THAN YOU WANTED.
Brenda and I had years of marriage trouble. We didn’t get along. We didn’t understand each other. We kept offending each other. We were both hurt. We both felt like we were giving everything, but felt like the other one was not putting any effort into our marriage. We eventually quit trying. Until… one day we went to a marriage conference. We learned there that God’s plan for marriage was for us to walk in companionship and unity. We realized that our marriage trouble was not just trouble between us, but allowing it to remain was disobedience to God. We came to understand that allowing the discord in our marriage to continue was walking in sin. God has a design for marriage – even your marriage. God has designed marriage to be the closest human relationship. It is to be characterized by love, unity, and companionship. The unity of marriage (Gen 2:23-25) The woman was made from the man’s side. They are made from the same material. The man is to leave his family. To be united with his wife. The two shall become one flesh. We live in times when people view marriage as just a formality or a piece of paper and a ceremony, but nothing could be farther from the truth. The truth is God created marriage to be something amazing – a reflection of Himself. We – men and women – are made in the likeness of God. (Gen. 1:27) God enjoys perfect unity among the three persons of the trinity. John 17:1-5 1After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. So the Father glorifies the Son. The Son glorifies the Father. John 16:13-14 13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. The Father glorifies the Son. The Son glorifies the Father. The Sprit glorifies the Son. Each member of the trinity giving freely glorifying the other member in perfect unity, but different persons. Just as each member of the trinity is different, men and women reflect that difference. Men and women are different and have different roles in marriage as part of the created order. But put them together, and they are different, but complete in unity. All of creation was “good”, but it was not good (Gen 2:18) for the man to be alone. When he had completed creation, including man and woman, it was very good (Gen 1:31) The equality, differences, and unity between men and women reflect the equality, differences and unity in the Trinity. 1 Corinthians 11:3 3Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. The differences between men and women are very good when they come together in unity. Two different people in marriage – united in purpose, companionship – this is God’s design for marriage. How to build unity in your marriage. • Communicate daily • Continue dating • In disagreements, find common ground • Seek counsel when an issue is too big to work out on your own. Marriage is not just a ceremony or a piece of paper. It was designed by God from the beginning to be a reflection of Himself. We will never be a perfect reflection of our creator. But those moments of unity despite differences – those moments are divine. There is joy in marriage when it is lived out as God intended – in differences and unity.
