344 We Share in God's Holiness Through Discipline, A Guided Christian Meditation on 1 Peter 3:15-17 with the Recenter With Christ app I'm Chaplain Jared and I work as a hospice chaplain and an ICU chaplain, my purpose in making this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and to be more open for your heart to be changed by the Spirit of God. By using centuries old form of Christian Meditation named Lectio Divina: Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes. Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Bible verses for Meditation: Hebrew 12:7-11 NIV 7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10 They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. ESV 7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. 11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Meditation on Scripture: You have everything you need to do what you need to do. God has given you exactly what you need. Greatest of all He has helped us overcome sin. He created a plan whereby we would grow well beyond our limitations. We receive His holiness through faithfully receiving His grace. Here, that transforming power of Grace, is called discipline. If we think we will receive His grace without being changed we are missing something. Yet it is important that we learn to recognize God's discipline and be trained by it. When we learn it's lessons we are prepared to receice the peaceful fruit of righteousness. God is our Holy Father. Better than any earthly father and more loving. Sometimes images of earthly fathers can provide a metaphor for how God loves us, sometimes those examples are unhelpful. More caring and compassionate than any you know. Regardless of your personal experience spend a moment to imagine the ideal image of a loving amd caring father. Someone who cares about their children and works for their betterment. Now image god in that role. Now recognize that whatever the best image you could conjure it does not compare to what God feels for you. You are loved by a perfectly loving God. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling being patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Updates: Final Question: In what ways do you struggle with seeing people as objects at times? Final Thought: God's plan was meant to try us and to push us to rely on Him. Evidence of Light 1 John 3:1-10 1 John 1:5-7 (NIV) 5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. THREE Evidences of the Light: We Submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We Seek the Lifestyle of Jesus Christ. We Share the Love of Jesus Christ 1 John 3:6,9 (NIV) Why people continue in sin? Wrong practice. 1 John 3:4 Wrong people. 1 John 3:7-8 1 Corinthians 15:33 Proverbs 13:20 ESV Psalm 1:1-2 2 Corinthians 5:17 Wrong power. 1 John 3:8-10 John 3:1-3 We are redeemed from the penalty of sin. 1 John 3:5 We are redeemed from the power of satan. 1 John 3:8 We are redeemed from the principle of self. 1 John 3:9 Why we should live in the light! With my good friends from Power Monkey Fitness, a company that I've kind of been working for the last five years. Dave Duranty a 2008 Olympian for Team USA for gymnastics, and Chad Vaughn two time Olympian for Team USA for weightlifting. And GB Olympian Jennifer Pinches, who you guys may have heard an episode on earlier this year with Claire Halford.  We discuss WHAT is going on in the gymnastics world that we need to change? WHAT are the critical issues that people are facing from the from the coaching point of view, the parent point of view, and also the administration point of view? The reasons WHY gymnastics in particular, is more susceptible to abuse?  WHAT a positive coach does differently. WHEN is showing tough love important for the development of the athlete?  HOW are the parents handling these issues of abuse? What are they going through? We SHARE solutions and the next step we believe need to happen. ALSO… Is it POSSIBLE for female gymnast to peak at age 24 instead of age 16? ENROL NOW! Easter MessageApril 12, 20201 Corinthians 15:50-58 (NASB)50 Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 But when this perishable will have put on [g]the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. The Mystery of Resurrection - What did Christ’s Resurrection Accomplish? We are New Creatures (Verse 50)2 Corinthians 5:16-17 - Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.We are Imperishable (Verses 51-53) 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 - So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. Philippians 3:20-21 - For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform [n]the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself. We Share in His Victory over Sin and Death (Verses 54-57)John 5:24 - “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. Isaiah 25:8-9He will swallow up death for all time,And the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces,And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken. And it will be said in that day,“Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us.This is the Lord for whom we have waited;Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”We Sanctified for the Lord’s Work (Verse 58)1 John 3:14 – We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death. 1 John 4:7 – Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.1 John 4:19 - We love, because He first loved us.1 John 4:21 - And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.

Episode 83: “We Share the Same Sky” With Rachael Cerrotti

Rachael Cerrotti had a close relationship with her grandmother, Hana. She knew Hana was a Holocaust survivor who evaded Nazi capture numerous times, and she savored her time with the family matriarch, hearing her tell stories about her past and reading her writing. After Hana's death in 2010, Rachael began to explore her story in more depth. She decided to take an incredible journey in which she followed her grandmother's footsteps more than 70 years later, connecting with descendants of families that saved Hana's life in Denmark and Sweden. Throughout her travels, Rachael used her camera, podcasting equipment and journals to capture the story she tells on the multimedia website “We Share the Same Sky,” presented by USC Shoah Foundation. At its center is a riveting and moving seven-episode podcast series—the first produced by the foundation—that brings the past into the present through Rachael's decade-long journey to retrace her grandmother's story of survival. The episodes use history and current events to help listeners grasp themes, including discrimination and dehumanization, the impact of physical and metaphorical walls, and how to find hope and redemption in tragic circumstances. On this episode of The Vibe of the Tribe, Rachael joins Dan and Miriam to talk about her unique project, how she reimagined the ways in which testimony can be used to tell stories and how “We Share the Same Sky” offers a compelling tool for Holocaust educators. “We Share the Same Sky is produced by Rachael Cerrotti and co-produced by Erika Lantz. You can find the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play and other podcast apps. Learn more at http://sharethesamesky.com. Edited by Jesse Ulrich, with music by Ryan J. Sullivan.

We lead PEOPLE into a new life of FREEDOM in JESUS. …Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18 (KJV) Value #2:  We Live For The Other Person's Good Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.'  This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.' The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40 (NLT) LOVE = Living for the OTHER person's good. So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.  Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:34-35 (NLT) 1.  We SHARE our lives with each other …Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of Godbut our lives as well. 1 Thessalonians 2:8 (NIV) As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Proverbs 27:17 (NLT) Real LIFE-CHANGE happens in the context of RELATIONSHIPS. Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.  Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.  You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Philippians 2:3-5 (NLT) Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment. Proverbs 18:1 ESV) We are not a church WITH small groups; we are a church OF small groups. There is a better version of yourself on the other side of your decision to surround yourself with people who can make you better.  2.  We see the BEST in others If you search for good, you will find favor; but if you search for evil, it will find you! Proverbs 11:27 (NLT) Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. Hebrews 10:24 (NLT) “The greatest good you can do for another is not just share your riches, but to reveal to him his own.” – Benjamin Disraeli We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.  If anyone boasts, “I love God,” and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar.  If he won't love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can't see?  The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You've got to love both. 1 John 4:19-21 (MSG) 3.  We are insanely LOYAL I want you to put your foot down. Take a firm stand on these matters so that those who have put their trust in God will concentrate on the essentials that are good for everyone.  Stay away from mindless, pointless quarreling over genealogies and fine print in the law code. That gets you nowhere. Warn a quarrelsome person once or twice, but then be done with him. Titus 3:9-10 (MSG) Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions. Proverbs 18:2 (NLT) Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.  Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love.  Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. Ephesians 4:1-3 (NLT) If a fellow believer hurts you, go and tell him—work it out between the two of you. If he listens, you've made a friend.  If he won't listen, take one or two others along so that the presence of witnesses will keep things honest, and try again.  Matthew 18:15-20 (MSG) 4.  We push others to the FRONT This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 1 John 3:16 (NIV) Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Romans 12:10 (ESV) When we push others to the front, we kill the selfish insecurity in our hearts. “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.  I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one.  I am in them and you are in me.  May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. John 17:20-23 (NLT)
