III.  REPENT    I JOHN 1:8  If we say we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth. 9  But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.       Confession and repentance of sin are a constant mark of the person walking in the light of fellowship with God.       When someone begins to talk about repentance we always have  a little lawyer who steps out into our mind and says,  “I OBJECT… MY CLIENT ISN'T SO BAD –  WHY LOOK AT HIM/HER OR THEM”.   He immediately begins to rationalize and defend our actions.     But if we truly want  all God has for us we must be willing to ask God to search us and tell us where we are truly at.     Repentance The Romans sometimes compelled a captive to be joined face-to-face with a dead body, and to bear it about until the horrible effluvia destroyed the life of the living victim. Virgil describes this cruel punishment: 'The living and the dead at his command Were coupled face to face, and hand to hand; Till choked with stench, in loathed embraces tied, The lingering wretches pined away and died. Without Christ, we are shackled to a dead corpse -- our sinfulness. Only repentance frees us from certain death, for life and death cannot coexist indefinitely. Psalm 62:10Where there is true Christian faith, rich attire and sumptuous food will never be major considerations. Christian faith does not look for earthly good, honor, pleasure, power, or anything outside of God Himself. It seeks, desires, and clings to nothing but God, who alone is the highest good.Whether there is costly fare or little to eat, whether there is splendid attire or nothing but very simple clothing, makes very little difference to Christian faith. Even if Christians must wear costly attire and wield great power in a position of honor, they think little of it. It may be that they have been forced into this by circumstances or that they must adopt such procedures in the interests of their neighbor. Queen Esther declared that she wore her royal crown reluctantly but was compelled to do so for the sake of the king. David would have preferred to remain a common man. He was compelled to become king for God's sake and the sake of the people.This is the way all believers regard their elevated roles in this world. They are compelled to accept power, honor, and glory, but they never allow their roles in life to ensnare their hearts. The Correction of FearYou believe that being afraid is involuntary. 2But I have told you many times that only constructive acts should be involuntary.105 3I said that Christ-control can take over everything that doesn’t matter, and Christ-guidance can direct everything that does, if you so will.1062 Fear cannot be Christ-controlled, but it can be self-controlled. 2Fear is always associated with what does not matter, and prevents me from controlling it. 3The correction is therefore a matter of your will, because its presence shows that you have raised the unimportant to a higher level than it warrants. 4You have thus brought it under your will, where it does not belong. 5This means you feel responsible for it. 6The level confusion here is perfectly obvious. 7The reason that I cannot control fear for you is that you are attempting to raise to the mind level the proper content of lower-order “reality.”107 8I do not foster level confusion, but you can will to correct it.3 You would not tolerate insane behavior on your part, and would hardly advance the excuse that you could not help it. 2Why should you tolerate insane thinking? 3There is a fallacy here you would do well to look at clearly. 4You believe that you are responsible for what you do but not for what you think. 5The truth is that you are responsible for what you think, because it is only at this level that you can exercise choice. 6What you do comes from what you think. 7You cannot separate the two by giving autonomy to your behavior. 8Behavior is controlled by me automatically as soon as you place what you think under my guidance.4 Whenever you are afraid, it is a sure sign that you have allowed your mind to miscreate; that is, you have not allowed me to guide it. 2It is pointless to believe that controlling the outcome of misthought can result in real healing. 3When you are fearful, you have willed wrongly. 4This is why you feel you are responsible for it. 5You must change your mind, not your behavior, and this is a matter of will. 6You do not need guidance except at the mind level. 7Correction belongs only at the level where causation is possible. 8The term does not really mean anything at the symptom level, where it cannot work.5 The correction of fear is your responsibility. 2When you ask for release from fear, you are implying that it isn’t. 3You should ask, instead, for help in the conditions which have brought the fear about. 4This always entails a willingness on the part of your separated mind. 5At this level, you can help it. 6You are much too tolerant of mind wandering, thus tacitly condoning your mind’s miscreations. 7The particular result never matters, but this fundamental error does. 8The fundamental correction is always the same. 9Before you will to do anything, ask me if your will is in accord with mine. 10If you are sure that it is, there will be no fear.6 Fear is always a sign of strain, which arises whenever the will to do conflicts with what you do. 2This situation arises in two major ways:1. 3You can will to do conflicting things, either simultaneously or successively.108 4This produces conflicting behavior, which would be tolerable to the self (though not necessarily to others) except for the fact that the part of the will that wants something else is outraged.2. 5You can behave as you think you should, without entirely willing to do so. 6This produces consistent behavior, but entails great strain within the self.7 If you think about it, you will realize that in both cases the will and the behavior are out of accord, resulting in a situation in which you are doing what you do not will. 2This arouses a sense of coercion, which usually produces rage. 3The anger then invades the mind, and projection in the wrong sense becomes likely.109 4Depression or anxiety is virtually certain.8 Remember that whenever there is fear, it is because you have not made up your mind. 2Your will is split, and your behavior inevitably becomes erratic. 3Correcting at the behavioral level can shift the error from the first type to the second, but will not obliterate the fear. 4It is possible to reach a state in which you bring your will under my guidance without much conscious effort, but this implies the kind of habit pattern which you have not developed dependably as yet.9 Although people say that God will never ask you to do more than you can, they do not understand it themselves. 2God cannot ask more than you will. 3The strength to do comes from your own undivided will to do.110 4There is no strain in doing God’s will as soon as it is also your own.10 The lesson here is quite simple, but particularly apt to be overlooked. 2I will therefore repeat it, urging you to listen. 3Only your mind can produce fear. 4It does so whenever it is conflicted in what it wills, thus producing inevitable strain because willing and doing become discordant.111 5This cannot be corrected by better doing. 6But it can be corrected by higher willing.11 The first corrective step is knowing it is fear. 2After taking this step, you might benefit temporarily by adding another step before going on with the corrective process: Try saying to yourself that you must have willed not to love somehow or somewhere, or the fear which arises from behavior-will conflict could not have happened. 3Then follow the previous instructions.11212 If you consider what the process really means, it is nothing more than a series of pragmatic steps in the larger process of accepting the Atonement as the remedy. 2From this viewpoint, the steps can be reworded as follows:1. 3Know first this is fear.2. 4Fear arises from lack of love.3. 5The only remedy for lack of love is perfect love.4. 6Perfect love is the Atonement.7The final procedural step is inherent in the last statement.113 8We have emphasized that the miracle, or the expression of Atonement, is always a sign of real respect from the worthy to the worthy.114 9This worth is reestablished by the Atonement.13 It is obvious, then, that when you are afraid, you have placed yourself in a position where you need Atonement because you have done something loveless, having willed without love. 2This is precisely the situation for which the Atonement was offered. 3The need for the remedy inspired its establishment. 4As long as you recognize only the need for the remedy, you will remain fearful. 5However, as soon as you use the remedy, you have also abolished the fear. 6This is how true healing occurs.14 It may help if you say this prayer to me:2I would like to pray that my will be united with thine, recognizing that thy perfect love will suffice (or correct) for my imperfect love.3I pray that I may accept the Atonement with conviction, recognizing its inestimable worth, and my own divine worth as part of this identification with thine.4I pray that my fear be replaced by an active sense of thy love, and thy continual willingness to help me overcome the split or divided will which is responsible for my difficulty with this.5I accept the divinity of the messages I have received,115 and affirm my will in both accepting and acting upon the Atonement principle.6Here I am.15 The major problem that you have is the continuing split will, which naturally interferes with your true identification. 2To the extent that you hold onto this split, it will take longer to get through and will markedly interfere with your own integration efforts. 3Reliance has to be placed on me, which is sufficient once you do this without distantiation or division in loyalties. 4This will be strengthened through a continual affirmation of the goal you want to achieve and an awareness of its inevitability. 5In this way, you will perceive and know your true worth, and the importance of maintaining a complete identification.

And Mr. Stewart is the owner of NEXGEN Financial Group LLC, a financial education.  Episode Timeline 1:19Ms. Miller is the CEO of ESS Group Inc, they are a government contractor. It basically provides training and development services, administrators, services, program management, contract management, and acquisition services. Plus, they have a lot of strategic partnerships where they can dip into different industries.2:00The primary focus is to build strategic partnerships, and win contracts. The company still offers a little bit of coaching programs where it can still assist small businesses, but they don't really necessarily do it in the consulting room anymore.5:00Mr. Stewart is the owner of NEXGEN Financial Group LLC. They teach a lot to help people get out of debt or move to the next level. They have people in different financial levels. They also do different life insurance and annuity products. His business of restaurant has just opened. And he thought losing the same predicament because he already had to plan everything and rolling right before COVID. But luckily, God blesses that the business is still going. It's still rolling. They’re not having a chance to expand, but it's a Thai restaurant.10:30We all have some product that we are selling, get some insight into that product, get it out there, get it, go have conversations with not just friends and family because they tend to, they tend to be sympathetic to what we're trying to accomplish. But get someone who's really going to tell you the truth about that particular product,14:20A lot of people don't have mentors in their field. You want to get around with people who are doing what you aspire to do. Educate yourself on those principles of business.18:20Sales and marketing are the most critical piece. You're going to educate yourself in business. The very first thing that you need to do is educate yourself in sales and marketing process. Because, the more you sell, the more you can get to the point where you don't have to do the selling. 25:20It's important to surround yourself around the right people who are achieving more who are like minded like you where you don't feel like you are the smartest person in the room and finding those organizations can help. We've met a lot of different successful companies who are doing really well and it also helps to network and meet other people that you can go to for information.31:10There's an old saying that if there's six more people in the room, if there are five smart people in the room, you'd be the six ones. If there's five dumb people, you'd be the sixth one, You need to move to a different location for different people and that's when you can find better mentors, and somebody's doing higher than you.36:00You need to kind of understand your personality. I've done a few personality tests around very high improvise. So I can get into a situation and understand what's going on with that situation and then make decisions based on you what know on the information that I'm presented at that point in time.40:32Once you kind of know what you know, you know what you can get away with what you know. You can hit the ground running. We already have our foundations that we already know. We want to worry about getting the next product and moving forward because, our mindsets are already in business mode.45:26People think that failure is a bad thing. You can't get to success without going through failure. As a matter of fact, success is built on the steps of failure. If you're going, if you want more success, you have to find more ways to fail more. And I don't mean that in a negative way, but you got to find ways to mess this up.49:34I think the first thing is to really make sure that you've identified your market and how large that market is. Once you kind of target that audience, how are you getting feedback and data from that audience to determine whether or not your product is one that's meaningful to them.50:10If they don't like your product, then maybe you need to develop another product. I think it's important to have the data once you kind of understand if you're moving in the right direction and the last thing that you want to be doing is spending.55:20More and more people started to come back to their business simply because of the relationship that they built. That's part of marketing is to build rapport with the people you plan to market to will do sales and business with, but you can't look at them.57:30Your sales will double because your mentality is going to change and your behavior and how you approach that situation is going to change.1:00:01Most importantly, in any partnership, it has to be a win-win for both sides. So, if you're asking for money, or you want someone to donate or partner with you in any shape or form what are you also bringing to the table to be enticing to the other person. You don't want to be in a situation where you're just asking for money, and you have nothing to offer the other person in this particular partnership.1:08:25Make sure that this person is backing you. You're going to advertise this piece of backing but it doesn't want to infringe of what your business is doing or what your non-profits doing. Make sure that you're getting the correct money from the people.1:12:14The difference between folks who become successful with those ideas is really the devotion, the drive, and the focused energy on making it happen.   Click here to download the free cheat sheet from today's episode. A trademark tells us some important things: It distinguishes their product from other manufacturers. Identifies it's maker. Identifies its value. The Number 1 Trademark is Love. God's Trademark is Love God is love.   God is the source of love.   God made you in His very image...that makes you very valuable. Genesis 5:1 ESV This is the book of the generations of Adam. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. Regardless of what you may have been told or even believed, you are not an accident or a mistake. Psalm 139:15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. God wanted you to be born. He made you to connect with His love. God loves you. Ephesians 3:16-19   16I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,   17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,   18may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,   19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.   Deuteronomy 5:10 ESV   But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.   Receive His love. God will not force His love on you. He will not violate your will. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- John 1:12 NIV Receiving His love is an ongoing process.   You will NEVER stop needing to know who you are in Christ. You will NEVER stop needing to know who God is in you. These truths are life giving.   God's love marks you. His love marks you like the trademark on the back of my dishes.  Jesus said in John 15:35 "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." Worship That's why worship, deep heartfelt worship, is so important. Worship takes us into the presence of God where we can feel His love and experience that love at a new level.   Confident Knowing, really knowing, God's love produces a confidence that enables us to live loved, being who we were really meant by God to be. We can become who God meant us to be. Romans 15 9“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.   10If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.   11I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.   12My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.   13Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.   14You are my friends if you do what I command.   15I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.   16You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.   17This is my command: Love each other. You cannot give away something that you don't have. Let's review trademark facts. Identifies its maker. God is your maker. He designed and crafted you. It distinguishes their product from other manufacturers. You are not a mistake or junk. You were made in His image. Identifies its value. You are priceless. It's time for you to feel the love.   Fruitfulness is the natural outcome of healthy fruit trees and believers. It's how we glorify God and demonstrate that we are disciples of Christ. So of course we want to be fruitful. Recently, I talked with you about  "What it mean to follow Jesus." Jesus describes the qualifications in Matthew 16:24 NLT Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.   (If you missed myblog/ podcast, What does it mean to follow Jesus? Here’s the link. I'll put it at the bottom of this post as well.)  I've also put the link for the cheat sheet and the outline for this week's podcast. I’ve got to tell you that in John 15, Jesus takes the relationship of a believer or follower of Christ to a whole ‘nother level! His challenge and command deepens both the relationship and the responsibility from following to abiding. More than following...abiding! Let’s look at John 15. Jesus is painting a word picture that they will understand readily, but it takes some explaining when you have not been exposed to an Agrarian culture and mindset. “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Pruning seems brutal. Don’t forget the hands that hold the pruning shear belong to the Father that loves you passionately. Pruning is essential for fruitfulness. Don’t resist the pruning. Allow God to prune you, to shape you, to remove the things in your life that distract and rob you of the vitality to produce the fruit He has called you to produce. 3Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Never doubt the power of God’s Word to clean, to prune; even train us. Hebrews 4:12 NIV For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. The Bible is so much more than information for your brain… 4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. Your ability cannot produce the fruit that God is expecting from your life. You must stay connected. Do you see the mandate? Not just follow Jesus, but abide in Him! It happens at the new birth. What a life changing event! 1 John 4:15   If anyone confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. Jesus purchased our redemption; paid our debt of sin. When we confess, or agree with God, Believe on Jesus and accept His gift, the result is He is in us and we are in Him. The root stock is the source of life for the branch. The root stock drinks the water and nutrients; turns them into sap and sends them off to the branches. The sap is the life blood of the grapevine. 5I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. Jesus is the vine. We are the branches. If we abide= fruitfulness. Don’t abide= no fruit. NONE! Do you want to be fruitful? Where is fruitfulness on your list of priorities?   You have a part in this process. How are you abiding in Him? What area can you grow in that process? That requires action on our part…so understanding what and how to do that is very important. What does God say about abiding in Him? Abide. What do you believe God is saying when He tells us to abide in Him? 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”     But to put it in context of Scripture I believe abiding is best described from Thayer’s Bible Dictionary https://biblehub.com/greek/3306.htm “to maintain unbroken fellowship with one.” What do you hear Jesus saying to you in this verse? I hope you’ll spend some prayerful thought on this verse before you answer. God wants to lead you deeper in Him. It’s a very personal thing. How do I maintain unbroken fellowship on my end?   What about you? Does His Word challenge you to abide in Him? What does that challenge look like to you?   Stay in the Word. 7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. When His Word abides in us, we can expect answered prayers. 8By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. Your fruitfulness brings glory to God. Did you see that the Father is glorified and it proves that we are His disciples. 9As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. Obey Obey is one of the biggest little words in the Bible. It doesn't need to be explained. It just needs to be done. Joy 11These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. His joy in you! Wow! Not temporary laughter or pleasure...I love to laugh and have fun...but you can have His enduring joy...His joy...in you! His joy isn't fragile! Download this week's cheat sheet. There is a counterfeit subconscious belief that God is this loving entity, like Santa Claus, who just sits around all day waiting for people to ask for a wish to be granted. That his only joy is in bestowing blessings upon those who fervently ask for them. Even Job in the Bible, thought that God lived to serve him. I think that I will one day write a book about what I am learning from the life of Job.This morning on our Daily Gratitude Call, I learned more about God than I feel I could have on my own in private study and meditation.I have seen God as a partner, as a loving Father, as a benevolent Being who is all powerful and all knowing. But until this morning, I had never truly seen God as ONE with me, and I with Him.There is a unique way that, with Him IN us, we get to serve humankind. Our natural gifts and talents, amplified through God’s Omniscience and Omnipotence, have the power to heal and uplift humanity. We, collectively, each living in our unique gifts, as One family, with Him IN us, have the power to save the world.We have been taught to surround ourselves with people who we want to become like. Who better to surround ourselves with than the Angels, Christ and our Father in Heaven. Christ and the Father are One. We read this repeatedly throughout the scriptures. For example:“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” -St John 14:6-10If we are One, (interesting that I chose to capitalize the word “One.” I feel it is like a name of reverence because God and Christ are included in that name I take on myself) then our will and the Father’s will are the same. We only choose to do the Father’s will because it is the same as ours. We would not want anything else, because in being out of alignment with the Father, we are out of alignment with ourselves, holding back only ourselves as we rebel against the Father.Unity – it’s not just me – I am not alone. You Are a Child in God's Family – March 24, 2019 – Steve MillerWhen I was a teenager, every time my brothers or I would leave the house to go out somewhere, my mom would send us off with this directive: “Remember whose you are!” This truth, if I believed it and kept it in mind, would have a big impact on my confidence and the choices that I made.Galatians 3:23 – 4:726So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.4But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. 6Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” 7So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir. We should not be afraid, for God is with us. For we are His children, and He is our good Father. We should not take lightly what that means for us. We are sons and daughters in the same family in which Jesus is a Son. We are beloved by the Father and co-heirs with Christ. We have been made new and given entrance into the family of God.Romans 8:14-17, 28-3014For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.Again it says that we are heirs of God, and co-heirs with Christ. The concept reminds me of the cartoon character Little Orphan Annie, who was adopted by the wealthy and powerful industrialist Daddy Warbucks. Imagine the ways that this new relationship impacted her life, and what protection, care, influence, and resources she became heir to, not just what she would own after he died, but even more with him looking after her as a father.Now think about the grace that Jesus walked in as He lived His life as a man on earth. Although He is God, He laid aside His heavenly glory and lived as a true man filled with the Holy Spirit. So we now, as God's children filled with the same Holy Spirit, have access to the same grace, power, and resources to live God-pleasing lives and bring the influence of the Kingdom to the world around us! Are we mindful of this?Romans 8:28-3028And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. We are members of a household, God's household. We are being built together into a house, God's dwelling. We're like the Brady Bunch, only better and not dressed in plaid bell-bottoms. I think about how our family has grown from our marriage until now. With hope, prayer, and training of our children, I look forward to what we will be in the future. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. Now we must remain in His love, remembering who we are and Whose we are. He will never leave us, neglect us, or abandon us. He will not abuse us, for He is a good Father, and we are His true children by faith. Our Father has loved us, and we must love our brothers and sisters in His family. Because we are His, that is who we are.John 15:9-129“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love. 11I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. We live under grace, and not through our performance. Yes, God wants us to please Him, but He provides the grace and love that empowers us to do that. God loves His children! He provides for us and trains us so that we will mature, growing to be like Jesus. He wants us to put our trust and hope in Him, for He has promised to be good to us. All this He has accomplished at the cross.

God Is Righteous – August 26, 2018 – Steve MillerWhat does it mean to be righteous?From dictionary.com: characterized by uprightness or morality; morally right or justifiableBut who determines what is right? Many people justify in their own minds behaviors and beliefs that are clearly wrong.Avengers Infinity War: Would it be right to euthanize half the universe in order to save the other half?In our modern world, many don't believe in absolute truth regarding right and wrong. The result of this thinking is that often “Might makes right.”We believe that God is righteous, and it is He who determines what is right. And although God is almighty, He doesn't use that attribute to cause His mere whims to be “right.” He is righteous because He is love.1 John 4:7-8 – 7Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:16 – So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. Jesus Himself boiled down all righteousness to loving God and other people:Matthew 22:35-40 – 35And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38This is the great and first commandment. 39And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” God gave the Law to Moses and Israel in the Old Testament in order to show them the right way to live. Israel's obedience to it was the basis of God's covenant with them.Deuteronomy 6:4-5 – 24The Lord commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the Lord our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today. 25And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.That's not good news. Even when we think we do righteous acts, they aren't, because they flow out of corrupt hearts with wrong motives like selfishness, pride, or fear.Isaiah 64:6 – We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. Israel failed to keep their covenant with their righteous God, and it resulted in judgment.Daniel 9:14 – The LORD did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the LORD our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him.If that's the case, are we then without hope? No – praise God! Paul teaches amazing truths about God's righteousness in Romans:Romans 310As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; 20Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.21But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.God's righteousness is demonstrated most through His greatest act of love and mercy!Jesus is the One who justifies us; He, through His death on the cross, is our only source of righteousness. Does that mean that God doesn't care how we live? Certainly not. The grace of God within us through Jesus is an overflowing source of love for all of us who believe. We've been given new garments of righteousness to wear.Ephesians 4:20-24 – 20That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. We have a new covenant with righteous God through the blood of Jesus. By repentance we can take off those filthy garments tainted by sinful motives and failure, and daily put on new ones. The redeemed life is one of constant renewal and regeneration in His righteousness.John 15:9-11 – 9As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. Our righteousness comes through abiding in relationship with our righteous Lord!

These are the things in which people are gambling their souls. The following is an outline. That the goodness of God is all there is to God 22Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off. Romans 11 30For we know Him who said, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY.” And again, “THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE.” 31It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10 4“And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! Luke 12 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. Mat 25:41 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. Mat 25:46 That you can offer God something other than perfection Therefore, you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:48 That saving faith is just a mental assent Believe in Greek (present continual tense verb) Believing the facts accepting the truth. Believing in (trust and obey) Continuing go on believing (faith & faithfulness) John 20:31 Greek (present continual tense) 1 John 1 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. That salvation is just for an elected few Jesus Our Advocate 1 John 2: 1-2  My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. John 3 36Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. John 3 16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. The Names and Titles of Jesus –  I Am the True Vine Episode 99 This series of the names and titles of Jesus will give us a more in-depth understanding of Jesus Christ our Lord. This is the eighth in the series. The following is an outline. I Am the True Vine John 15 (NIV) “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. • 5“ I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing. 6If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. "Under the crown– work was spread out a golden vine, with its branches hanging down from a great height, the largeness and the workmanship of which were an astonishing sight to the spectators" (Antiquities of the Jews, 5.5.4). 31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.   ISERAL GOD’S VINE Genesis 49:22 Jacobs blessing to Joseph Isaiah 5 A love affair between God and His Vineyard the nation of Israel Isaiah 5 Something went wrong! Isaiah 27: 6 He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. Hosea 10:1 “Israel empties his vine; He brings forth fruit for himself…” 26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,  and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. A Shadow THE TRUE VINE John 15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. Pastor Zenzile Legend February 16, 2014 Judges 61The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and for seven years he gave them into the hands of the Midianites. 2Because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in mountain clefts, caves and strongholds. 3Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples invaded the country. 4They camped on the land and ruined the crops all the way to Gaza and did not spare a living thing for Israel, neither sheep nor cattle nor donkeys. 5They came up with their livestock and their tents like swarms of locusts. It was impossible to count them or their camels; they invaded the land to ravage it. 6Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the Lord for help. 7When the Israelites cried out to the Lord because of Midian, 8he sent them a prophet, who said, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 9I rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians. And I delivered you from the hand of all your oppressors; I drove them out before you and gave you their land. 10I said to you, ‘I am the Lord your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.’ But you have not listened to me.” 11The angel of the Lord came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. 12When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” 13“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” 14The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” 15“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” 16The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.” 17Gideon replied, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me. 18Please do not go away until I come back and bring my offering and set it before you.” And the Lord said, “I will wait until you return.” 19Gideon went inside, prepared a young goat, and from an ephah of flour he made bread without yeast. Putting the meat in a basket and its broth in a pot, he brought them out and offered them to him under the oak. 20The angel of God said to him, “Take the meat and the unleavened bread, place them on this rock, and pour out the broth.” And Gideon did so. 21Then the angel of the Lord touched the meat and the unleavened bread with the tip of the staff that was in his hand. Fire flared from the rock, consuming the meat and the bread. And the angel of the Lord disappeared. 22When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the Lord, he exclaimed, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face!” 23But the Lord said to him, “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.” 24So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it The Lord Is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. 25That same night the Lord said to him, “Take the second bull from your father’s herd, the one seven years old. Tear down your father’s altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it. 26Then build a proper kind of altar to the Lord your God on the top of this height. Using the wood of the Asherah pole that you cut down, offer the second bull as a burnt offering.” 27So Gideon took ten of his servants and did as the Lord told him. But because he was afraid of his family and the townspeople, he did it at night rather than in the daytime. 28In the morning when the people of the town got up, there was Baal’s altar, demolished, with the Asherah pole beside it cut down and the second bull sacrificed on the newly built altar! 29They asked each other, “Who did this?” When they carefully investigated, they were told, “Gideon son of Joash did it.” 30The people of the town demanded of Joash, “Bring out your son. He must die, because he has broken down Baal’s altar and cut down the Asherah pole beside it.” 31But Joash replied to the hostile crowd around him, “Are you going to plead Baal’s cause? Are you trying to save him? Whoever fights for him shall be put to death by morning! If Baal really is a god, he can defend himself when someone breaks down his altar.” 32So because Gideon broke down Baal’s altar, they gave him the name Jerub-Baal that day, saying, “Let Baal contend with him.” 33Now all the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples joined forces and crossed over the Jordan and camped in the Valley of Jezreel. 34Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Gideon, and he blew a trumpet, summoning the Abiezrites to follow him. 35He sent messengers throughout Manasseh, calling them to arms, and also into Asher, Zebulun and Naphtali, so that they too went up to meet them. 36Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised— 37look, I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you said.” 38And that is what happened. Gideon rose early the next day; he squeezed the fleece and wrung out the dew—a bowlful of water. 39Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me. Let me make just one more request. Allow me one more test with the fleece, but this time make the fleece dry and let the ground be covered with dew.” 40That night God did so. Only the fleece was dry; all the ground was covered with dew. Judges 7 1Early in the morning, Jerub-Baal (that is, Gideon) and all his men camped at the spring of Harod. The camp of Midian was north of them in the valley near the hill of Moreh. 2The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me.’ 3Now announce to the army, ‘Anyone who trembles with fear may turn back and leave Mount Gilead.’ ” So twenty-two thousand men left, while ten thousand remained. 4But the Lord said to Gideon, “There are still too many men. Take them down to the water, and I will thin them out for you there. If I say, ‘This one shall go with you,’ he shall go; but if I say, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not go.” 5So Gideon took the men down to the water. There the Lord told him, “Separate those who lap the water with their tongues as a dog laps from those who kneel down to drink.” 6Three hundred of them drank from cupped hands, lapping like dogs. All the rest got down on their knees to drink. 7The Lord said to Gideon, “With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the others go home.” 8So Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites home but kept the three hundred, who took over the provisions and trumpets of the others. Now the camp of Midian lay below him in the valley. 9During that night the Lord said to Gideon, “Get up, go down against the camp, because I am going to give it into your hands. 10If you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah 11and listen to what they are saying. Afterward, you will be encouraged to attack the camp.” So he and Purah his servant went down to the outposts of the camp. 12The Midianites, the Amalekites and all the other eastern peoples had settled in the valley, thick as locusts. Their camels could no more be counted than the sand on the seashore. 13Gideon arrived just as a man was telling a friend his dream. “I had a dream,” he was saying. “A round loaf of barley bread came tumbling into the Midianite camp. It struck the tent with such force that the tent overturned and collapsed.” 14His friend responded, “This can be nothing other than the sword of Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite. God has given the Midianites and the whole camp into his hands.” 15When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation, he bowed down and worshiped. He returned to the camp of Israel and called out, “Get up! The Lord has given the Midianite camp into your hands.” 16Dividing the three hundred men into three companies, he placed trumpets and empty jars in the hands of all of them, with torches inside. 17“Watch me,” he told them. “Follow my lead. When I get to the edge of the camp, do exactly as I do. 18When I and all who are with me blow our trumpets, then from all around the camp blow yours and shout, ‘For the Lord and for Gideon.’ ” 19Gideon and the hundred men with him reached the edge of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just after they had changed the guard. They blew their trumpets and broke the jars that were in their hands. 20The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” 21While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled. 22When the three hundred trumpets sounded, the Lord caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords. The army fled to Beth Shittah toward Zererah as far as the border of Abel Meholah near Tabbath. 23Israelites from Naphtali, Asher and all Manasseh were called out, and they pursued the Midianites. 24Gideon sent messengers throughout the hill country of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against the Midianites and seize the waters of the Jordan ahead of them as far as Beth Barah.” So all the men of Ephraim were called out and they seized the waters of the Jordan as far as Beth Barah. 25They also captured two of the Midianite leaders, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb at the winepress of Zeeb. They pursued the Midianites and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon, who was by the Jordan.

1Dead flies make a perfumer’s oil stink, so a little foolishness is weightier than wisdom and honor. 2A wise man’s heart directs him toward the right, but the foolish man’s heart directs him toward the left. 3Even when the fool walks along the road, his sense is lacking and he demonstrates to everyone that he is a fool. 4If the ruler’s temper rises against you, do not abandon your position, because composure allays great offenses. 5There is an evil I have seen under the sun, like an error which goes forth from the ruler— 6folly is set in many exalted places while rich men sit in humble places. 7I have seen slaves riding on horses and princes walking like slaves on the land. 8He who digs a pit may fall into it, and a serpent may bite him who breaks through a wall. 9He who quarries stones may be hurt by them, and he who splits logs may be endangered by them. 10If the axe is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength. Wisdom has the advantage of giving success. 11If the serpent bites before being charmed, there is no profit for the charmer. 12Words from the mouth of a wise man are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him; 13the beginning of his talking is folly and the end of it is wicked madness. 14Yet the fool multiplies words. No man knows what will happen, and who can tell him what will come after him? 15The toil of a fool so wearies him that he does not even know how to go to a city. 16Woe to you, O land, whose king is a lad and whose princes feast in the morning. 17Blessed are you, O land, whose king is of nobility and whose princes eat at the appropriate time—for strength and not for drunkenness. 18Through indolence the rafters sag, and through slackness the house leaks. 19Men prepare a meal for enjoyment, and wine makes life merry, and money is the answer to everything. 20Furthermore, in your bedchamber do not curse a king, and in your sleeping rooms do not curse a rich man, for a bird of the heavens will carry the sound and the winged creature will make the matter known.
