They all had negative and unhealthy beginnings to some degree and they could have all stayed in that rut of being who they though they were… but God was able to radically change them and also their futures.   The I headed off to the gym. My goal at the gym is to build relationships and then tell people about Jesus. A work out is second… trust me there are days I don't work out at the gym, but I do get to share Christ… and its worth it. So I have been working on 2 men from Trinidad, who are Muslim. We have become friends even though we drastically differ on most beliefs. However today we were talking about why they moved to the States. The one man who is 37 said “I wanted to make a better life for myself”. I asked him what he thought about people who say they are being held back because of color of skin, or limited opportunities etc… (and yes these brothers are black). He laughed and said it is just a matter of seeing opportunities and not road blocks. He then said when he and his brother came over they started working for a moving company simply to learn about how to run a moving company. In 2 years they saved all their money and bought their own truck. They now own 4 trucks, and are looking at buying 2 more. Now here is the crazy thing… he left Trinidad and had a job as an engineer… but he said there were no opportunities. He said he looked, but truly they were all limited.  So now he and his brother are starting 2 more businesses. he said its simple, you just work, save up your money, learn about the business and start small… saving all your money and putting it back into the business.   I know we often think that people don't change. I know I have met enough people that make you truly wonder “can anybody truly change?”   But it made my come up with a simple list of how to change. First you must change your mindset. How? By what you choose to focus on. If I said every time you see something red you owe me a dollar… it would drive you crazy… if I said every time you see red I owe YOU a dollar, it would make you joyous and delighted every time you saw red. What changed? Just the fact that you saw one as a problem and another as an opportunity.    Phil. 4:7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable— if anything is excellent or praiseworthy— think on these things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.…   But catch the whole meaning… peace will guard your hearts when you focus on the right things… and learn from others what to focus on.      Second, take chances, Risk it, learn to use your faith. Now I am not talking about random stupid choices. But rather choices built on Gods word and by the measure of faith he has given you. The more you use your faith (whether things turn out good or bad) The more it grows, matures… leans out you might say.    Number 3 Cut off negative people. you may have to walk away from family, friends, co workers… and more. But if they are not encouraging you, building you up, increasing your faith… you need to step away… maybe not forever but until you have the mental tenacity to stay focused, positive and believe in yourself regardless of who says otherwise!    Lisa Nichols… one of the highest paid motivational speakers in the world… had to do this. It was hard, but necessary in order to achieve her dreams in record time.    Finally, Revel in failure.  I have stories of how many times I have failed in business, relationships, ideas, heck even in the gym I have stories of failing… But I have learned to revel and enjoy them because I know I have grown from all of them. Every time someone cuts me down and makes fun of me failing I say thank you for the motivation and I would love for you to tell me the last time you failed…. typically silence. Because they have never tried, or they have failed and buried it…or they lie and make it sound like they have never failed.    People don't succeed simply because they get tired of failing.    Here is the dirty little secret… I am going to tell you the straight up truth. If you really truly want to be successful it is always this easy to understand: Ready?  Success is simply a numbers game.  the more you try, the more you fail until you succeed.  You want bigger successes? Then fail bigger faster.  Thats not only true in the physical world but also the spiritual one as well.    Train your brain to take the pain and grab the gain!    Gymshark sold for 1.5 billion dollars… it was started by a young punk kid who started it as a teenager…at 28 walked away with 1.5 billion dollars… guess what? He had 9 jobs at the time and one was a pizza delivery guy. he owned the other 8 and they were all just meh… He failed numerous times and then one day BOOM.

1st Thessalonians: Life as It Was Meant to Be Part One: First Things First! Louie Marsh, 6-13-2021       “1Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.” (1 Thessalonians 1:1, ESV)   God's Grace Allows Me To…       1) Enter God's Family by COMMITTING my life to Christ.   “11For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,” (Titus 2:11, ESV)   “6But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.” (Romans 11:6, ESV)   Paul says that the Christian faith turns how you look at things on its head! Normally we start by working hard and then eventually reach our goal. Not so here – you start by accepting the gift of salvation and THEN work hard because of the joy the gift brings! Otherwise grace isn't grace!   “5he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:5–7, ESV)   If you think you are supposed to get good enough or get it together enough and then come to Christ – you are wrong!!  First to receive the gift – then you get it together – by His power!   2) Enter into God's Presence through PRAYER.   “18O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy.” (Daniel 9:18, ESV)   God hears and answers our prayers because of His Grace - He doesn't have too!   “16Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16, ESV)   Because of Grace we can be bold with God - He isn't going to squash us if we ask for the wrong thing!   3) Enter into God's Purpose through SERVICE.   “12I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, 13though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, 14and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 1:12–14, ESV)   I'm so grateful to Christ Jesus for making me adequate to do this work. He went out on a limb, you know, in trusting me with this ministry. The only credentials I brought to it were invective and witch hunts and arrogance. But I was treated mercifully because I didn't know what I was doing—didn't know Who I was doing it against! Grace mixed with faith and love poured over me and into me. And all because of Jesus. 1 Tim. 1:12-14 (Mes)   Grace is the door way to finding and fulfilling our purpose in life! What's that? It's serving God and others in that special way the He made you for! If you are not serving God, you are cheating everyone, and cheating yourself most of all!   4) Enter into God's Power through FAITH.   But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 1 Cor. 15:10   See the mystery – Paul worked BUT it was really Christ working in Him, it's hard to tell who's doing who when we are one with Christ!   But because God was so gracious, so very generous, here I am. And I'm not about to let his grace go to waste. Haven't I worked hard trying to do more than any of the others? Even then, my work didn't amount to all that much. It was God giving me the work to do, God giving me the energy to do it. 1 Cor. 15:10 (Mes)   and then he told me, "My grace is enough; it's all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness." Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ's strength moving in on my weakness. Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size—abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become  2 Cor. 12:9-10 (Mes)   Weakness becomes opportunity and strength when we really rely on Christ's GRACE and not our own puny strength!   God's Peace   1) Is a result of God's GRACE.   “27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27, ESV)   No grace – no peace!   2) Will help me REMAIN faithful.   “7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7, ESV)   Without peace of mind and soul I won't be able to stay faithful to God or anyone else!   “33I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”” (John 16:33, ESV)   Jesus says we'll suffer in this life – BUT with His peace and presence we'll make it through!   3) Is a critical part of my SPIRITUAL LIFE.   “17For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17, ESV)   Peace is part of the foundation of the Kingdom of God – which means it's a vital part of our spiritual life!   4) Gives me the HOPE I need to live!   “13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13, ESV)

In legalistic environments, there is a formula that when it is followed we are promised God's blessing but if we mess up, we can expect destruction or judgement. Thoughts I’d like to just briefly touch on a couple of points made by Peter. False Teachers Are Easy To Spot First, the topic of false teachers. They were a problem in Old Testament times, they were a problem in the early church, and they are a problem today.  False teachers are usually students of the human mind and human weaknesses, and they know what people like to hear. Their motivation is often for money, sometimes for power, and never for the benefit of the listener. Some false teachers have small followings, some have millions. How do you know if someone is a false teacher? It’s not really that hard. You need to know what Scripture says. When you know the real thing well, counterfeits are easy to detect. This podcast is a good start in knowing the Bible, but it is no substitute for your actually applying yourself to deep, disciplined study on your own. Having a Bible teaching pastor is important, being a part of a good Bible study group is important, having trusted and godly friends is important. But nothing is more important that you actually getting to know the Word of God intimately yourself. As you study, pray and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and wisdom. That is a prayer that is always answered. And the more you study, the more you will begin to understand, and the easier it will be to identify false teachers. Jesus Is Coming Again And then the next point I’d like to discuss is the second coming of Jesus. I recently had a discussion with someone who said, “Yeah, right. Christians have been saying Jesus was coming back since the church began. They say, ‘Look at the signs,’ but nothing is any different today than it was then.”  Doesn’t that sound just like chapter 3, verse 4 from our reading today? Here it is again: They will say, “Jesus promised to come again. Where is he? Our fathers have died, but the world continues the way it has been since it was made.” Peter was talking about what it would be like in the last days. He said they would laugh at you, and they would make that statement. But Peter reminds us that the world is different. It hasn’t always been the way it is now. He says, “But they do not want to remember what happened long ago. By the word of God heaven was made, and the earth was made from water and with water. 6Then the world was flooded and destroyed with water. 7And that same word of God is keeping heaven and earth that we now have in order to be destroyed by fire.” My friend, Jesus is coming. I don’t know when, but I personally think it will be very, very soon. One of the biggest parts of learning to walk or learning to ride a bike is falling. I think we forget that part of learning is failing. When you are learning a new skill, failure is inevitable. And when it comes to our kids, we know that. We don’t scold babies when we fall; we cheer when they get back up.God calls us his children. And when we take a first faith step toward Jesus, all of Heaven cheers. Jesus told the crowd:“I tell you that in the same way, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” - Luke 15:7And then the rest of our journey on earth is learning to walk like Christ.We are going to fail.But think about this: God sits outside of time and space. He sees the end from the beginning. That means God knows precisely how many times we are going to fall and how many times we will fail. And instead of getting frustrated with us when we blow it, he cheers when we get back up.Tara-Leigh Cobble said this at the HeartStrong Faith Women’s Bible Conference:"If God knows that you will fall 100 times, he is not angry when we fail the 55th time. He says, only 45 more times. Only 35 more times. Only 20 more times—you’re almost there, don’t give up!"So don’t give up and don’t be so hard on yourself when you fail!

Disciple Up Episode 202 Do I Have a Soul or Am I a Soul? They say we are translating it wrong and that we don't have a soul if you translate the word correctly it means the throat. The gateway to your innermost part of your body. I am confused about what that means as far as if I go to heaven or not when I die or what   Great question and indicative of a lot of what some people are saying these days about the soul and after life. In Hebrew the most basic meaning of the word is “throat.” Which seems weird to us. So how did we get “soul” from “throat”? Tim and Jon discuss. In the first part of the episode (0-12:30), Tim and Jon outline where the word “soul” comes from (Old English), and why most people think that a core teaching of the Bible is people “having souls.” Jon asks how much you can really separate the ideas of a person's “mind, soul, and body.” In the second part of the episode (12:30-41:20), Tim explains that the Hebrew word “Nephesh” is an extremely common word in the Hebrew Old Testament. It occurs over 700 times, but less than 10% of the time is it translated as “soul.” It also gets translated as “life”, “heart”, “you”, “people” and several other words. Tim outlines some famous verses in the Old Testament that use the word soul. Like Psalm 42 “ As the deer pants...My soul thirsts for you” the original meaning is Hebrew is “my throat thirsts for you.”   Tim explains that the word Nephesh is designed to show the essential physicality of a person. Whereas “soul” connotes the non-physicality of a person. In the third part of the episode (41:20-end), Tim says “Nephesh” isn't just used to describe humans, but also used to describe animals and what the land produced in Genesis. “And God said ‘Let the waters teem with living Nephesh.'” The bottom line, biblically, is that people don't have souls. They are souls. They don't have “nephesh” they are “nephesh.” And the ultimate hope for Christians is not a disembodied existence living as souls, but an embodied existence living in their Nephesh. Life Usage Number: 1 Part Of Speech: Noun Strong's Number:  Original Word: ‏נֶפֶשׁ‎, nepesh Usage Notes: "soul; self; life; person; heart." This is a very common term in both ancient and modern Semitic languages. It occurs over 780 times in the Old Testament and is evenly distributed in all periods of the text with a particularly high frequency in poetic passages. The basic meaning is apparently related to the rare verbal form, nāpash. The noun refers to the essence of life, the act of breathing, taking breath. However, from that concrete concept, a number of more abstract meanings were developed. In its primary sense the noun appears in its first occurrence in Gen. 1:20: "the moving creature that hath life," and in its second occurrence in Gen. 2:7: "living soul." However, in over 400 later occurrences it is translated "soul." While this serves to make sense in most passages, it is an unfortunate mistranslation of the term. The real difficulty of the term is seen in the inability of almost all English translations to find a consistent equivalent or even a small group of high-frequency equivalents for the term. The kjv alone uses over 28 different English terms for this one Hebrew word. The problem with the English term "soul" is that no actual equivalent of the term or the idea behind it is represented in the Hebrew language. The Hebrew system of thought does not include the combination or opposition of the terms "body" and "soul," which are really Greek and Latin in origin. The Hebrew contrasts two other concepts which are not found in the Greek and Latin tradition: "the inner self" and "the outer appearance" or, as viewed in a different context, "what one is to oneself" as opposed to "what one appears to be to one's observers." The inner person is nepesh, while the outer person, or reputation, is shēm, most commonly translated "name." In narrative or historical passages of the Old Testament, nepesh can be translated as "life" or "self," as in Lev. 17:11: "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for [yourselves]…." Needless to say, the reading "soul" is meaningless in such a text. But the situation in the numerous parallel poetic passages in which the term appears is much more difficult. The Greek Septuagint and the Latin Vulgate both simply use the Greek and Latin equivalent "soul," especially in the Psalms. The first occurrence is in Psa. 3:2: "Many are saying of my soul, There is no deliverance for him in God" (nasb). The next occurrence is in Psa. 6:3: "And my soul is greatly dismayed; But Thou, O Lord, how long?" (nasb). In both passages the parallel contrast is between nepesh and some aspect of the self, expressed as "him" in Psa. 3:2 and not expressed but understood in Psa. 6:3. There is no distinction as to whether it appears as an "A" or "B" word in the parallelism. The Man came alive—a living soul!” (Genesis 2:7, The Message)   Psalm 42:1-2 Terrible suggested translation:  Like Psalm 42 “ As the deer pants...My soul thirsts for you” the original meaning is Hebrew is “my throat thirsts for you.”   “1As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. 2My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?” (Psalm 42:1–2, ESV)   The Root Fallacy: (D.A. Carson)   Soul – GW, NASB, YLT, NIV, KJV, ASV, Darby,  I – HCSB, NLT, LB, The Message, Vol. 5, Page 55: “The poet compares the thirsting of his soul after God to the thirsting of a stag.”   Aside from the root fallacy there's the fact this is a metaphor. The writer is comparing a deer's thirst for water need to survive with his soul's (self, inner person, etc.) need for God.  The physical is contrasted with the spiritual.   Literally it was never intended as “throat,”  That's horrible and reflects a misunderstanding of metaphor and language as well.   BOTTOM LINE:   My soul is saved because I am saved! In the end I'll be reunited with my body, but that body will be changed.   The bottom line, biblically, is that people don't have souls. They are souls. They don't have “nephesh” they are “nephesh.”   “42So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. 43It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. 44It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual.” (1 Corinthians 15:42–46, ESV)   So yes, you ARE a soul who inhabits a body and in the end Christ will redeem both!

I’m not going to go into any detail in my comments today. Not because I don’t think there is anything of value here, but because I personally find the find the details on how to deal with leprosy and bodily discharges somewhat distasteful for discussion on this podcast. It’s  not that I can’t handle this kind of subject matter. I have a degree in biology, and I worked in three different emergency medical fields for some time many years ago. I’ve seen a lot of gross stuff. I just don’t want to discuss the details here. I will say, though, that the Hebrew word that is translated as “leprosy” in our Bibles today that could include a variety of different skin diseases, such as psoriasis or ringworm, including what is known  today as “Hansen’s disease”, commonly called leprosy. In addition, there are some diseases that at first manifest themselves on the skin, but are not strictly skin diseases, such as smallpox and measles. Something else I will comment on in a general sense is in regards to quarantine. Note that even though true leprosy is a horrible disease that ultimately causes death, quarantine was reserved for the person with the disease. The healthy population was not quarantined. Only the person suspected of having the disease was locked down.  I would like to share a bit with you from Leviticus 14:1-7 because it sounds a bit strange upon first blush.  Let’s read it again: 1The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2“This shall be the law of the leprous person for the day of his cleansing. He shall be brought to the priest, 3and the priest shall go out of the camp, and the priest shall look. Then, if the case of leprous disease is healed in the leprous person, 4the priest shall command them to take for him who is to be cleansed two live clean birds and cedarwood and scarlet yarn and hyssop. 5And the priest shall command them to kill one of the birds in an earthenware vessel over fresh water. 6He shall take the live bird with the cedarwood and the scarlet yarn and the hyssop, and dip them and the live bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the fresh water. 7And he shall sprinkle it seven times on him who is to be cleansed of the leprous disease. Then he shall pronounce him clean and shall let the living bird go into the open field.Leviticus 14:1-7 ESV Now you might wonder what this ritual has to do with anything. It sort of seems a bit random, doesn’t it? But it’s not.  Leprosy is thought by many to be a representation of sin. It begins with almost no visible symptoms and is painless in the early stages. It grows slowly. Sometimes it seems to go away, then comes back. The affected area becomes numb. It causes decay and deforms the person, to the point where they become repulsive. Eventually, the victim dies. So, this ritual has to do with the cleansing of the leper. Listen to this: In summarizing the ritual here is what happens: It happens outside of the campA being from the heavens is sacrificed in an earthen vesselAs the being is killed, it is cleansed by the fresh waterThe death, which is associated with blood and water, is applied to the leper seven times (the number of perfection, or completeness) in connection with a living birdThe sacrificial blood is also applied to scarlet yarn and a piece of wood, along with hyssopWith the mark of the sacrifice, the living bird flies away, ascending to the heavens and out of sight. Unlocking the Hidden CharacterMost consistent question – why are you inferring Michael is JesusSome think that Jesus waited 4,000 years to personally intervene in the affairs of man. I want to make it crystal clear to you that Jesus has been personally actively working on behalf of mankind since day 1. Jesus is Michael – Michael is the archangel – the archangel is the chief of all the angels and is also known as THE angel of the Lord. Scripture does not reward the casual readerJohn 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 The same was in the beginning with God.3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.Genesis 1:1 in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…This is why Jesus said; "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad" (John 8:56). Jesus appeared personally to Abraham when the Patriarch interceded for Lot (Genesis 18:26). Genesis 1 and Hebrews 1 and John 1 – tell us clearly that Jesus is the creator of all things – all life – all beings in the universe. Satan is standing at his right hand to resist him. Here we see two adversaries contending over a sinful human being. Joshua's filthy garment symbolizes his sin. (Zechariah 3:3). In this narrative, the name changes quickly from "the angel of the Lord" (verse 1) to "the Lord" (verse 2), indicating again that they are the same. Then the Lord makes an interesting statement. "And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan" (Zechariah 3:2). There is only one other place in Scripture, Jude 1:9, where this sentence is found—and Michael the archangel speaks it! Worshiping the CommanderIn Revelation 12, Michael is portrayed as commander and captain - leading the heavenly hosts, or armies of angels, in the war against the Lucifer and the fallen angels Just as Israel was preparing for its first battle after crossing into the Promised Land, Joshua had an encounter with an unusual warrior. (Joshua 5:13-15).  "And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? In the company of his Samaritan cronies and military he let loose: "What are these miserable Jews doing? Do they think they can get everything back to normal overnight? Make building stones out of make-believe?" At his side, Tobiah the Ammonite jumped in and said, "That's right! What do they think they're building? Why, if a fox climbed that wall, it would fall to pieces under his weight."  Nehemiah 4:1-3 (MSG)   How I Should Respond:   PUBLIC PRAYER   “4Hear, O our God, for we are despised. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you?” 4And they sent to me four times in this way, and I answered them in the same manner.” (Nehemiah 6:3–4, ESV)   Refuse to get focused on SELF – stay on mission!   “5In the same way Sanballat for the fifth time sent his servant to me with an open letter in his hand. 6In it was written, “It is reported among the nations, and Geshem also says it, that you and the Jews intend to rebel; that is why you are building the wall. And according to these reports you wish to become their king. 7And you have also set up prophets to proclaim concerning you in Jerusalem, ‘There is a king in Judah.’ And now the king will hear of these reports. So now come and let us take counsel together.” 8Then I sent to him, saying, “No such things as you say have been done, for you are inventing them out of your own mind.” 9For they all wanted to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will drop from the work, and it will not be done.” But now, O God, strengthen my hands.” (Nehemiah 6:5–9, ESV)              

COMING OUT OF THE ARK SERIES 14. KEEPING THE PERSPECTIVE OF PRAYER AND SOUNDNESS OF MIND IN THE NEW DAY These are defining days; a new order of kingdom priesthood is emerging from the ascended life of the firstborn company of Saints. An emerging kingdom alliance is information as the prophetic word of God continues to gather the rising clouds from the Sea [meaning, from the people] of this present ecclesiastical generation. 1 Kings 18:14-46. A governmental kingdom priesthood with authority is being ushered into societies the visible reality of the kingdom of authority. The ministry of the two witnesses is emerging to bring down fire and rain. The role the mind plays in the ushering in of the new day of the Lord is critical to developing the right spiritual posture and perspective for engagement. We don't want the enemy to defeat us through negative thought and imagination, hence, we need to regroove our pattern of thinking, especially when the things happening around us are all portraying negativity. keeping our emotion and frame of thought aligned with the principle of God's word allows us to deal with the process and challenges of the present navigation from our old frame of thinking to the new location of the Spirit. Learning to put on the whole armor of God in advancement is critically necessary for our spiritual movement. This message and prayer time encourages us to remain steadfast, focused, and unshakable in our thought and desire making so the enemy does not push us into making a decision that is not aligned to heaven's prophetic demand for this season. Philippians 4 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Acts 18:123 (ESV) Paul in Corinth 18After this Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. 2And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. And he went to see them, 3and because he was of the same trade he stayed with them and worked, for they were tentmakers by trade. 4And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and tried to persuade Jews and Greeks. 5When Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul was occupied with the word, testifying to the Jews that the Christ was Jesus. 6And when they opposed and reviled him, he shook out his garments and said to them, Your blood be on your own heads! But Gallio paid no attention to any of this. Paul Returns to Antioch 18After this, Paul stayed many days longer and then took leave of the brothers and set sail for Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila. At Cenchreae he had cut his hair, for he was under a vow. 19And they came to Ephesus, and he left them there, but he himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews. 20When they asked him to stay for a longer period, he declined. 21But on taking leave of them he said, I will return to you if God wills, and he set sail from Ephesus. 22When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and then went down to Antioch. 23After spending some time there, he departed and went from one place to the next through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.

Encourages:Patience (one lifespan, future generations). Hope (fruit in a lifespan, of future generations; ‘take (God’s) long view’). Purpose (seed has levels of purpose). Asking basic questions: (i) where is the fruit? (ii) what is the fruit?Requires: Faith (required, planting is a starting point, believe that somethingwill happen, maybe …. a harvest!) Participation (our involvement; ‘planting’, ‘watering’). Three Parables of Jesus Christ about Seeds and Fruit The Parable of the Mustard Seed (Matthew 13) - Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: 32Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof. The Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13) - 1The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. 2And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; 4And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: 5Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: 6And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: 8But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. The Parable of the Identifying Fruit (Matthew 7) - 16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Let us: - Be Patient (with ourselves). - Have Hope (our lives can bear good fruit). - Purpose (fruitfulness is its own reward, but inestimable in eternal matters…..) - Ask (i) where is the fruit (“Normal Christian Life”)? (ii) what is the fruit? Let us also: -Have Faith (be a starting point, believe that one life can yield a harvest). - Participate in the work (sow the Word of God). -1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which lives and abides for ever.

The Names and Titles of Jesus – The King of Kings Episode 103 This series of the names and titles of Jesus will give us a more in-depth understanding of Jesus Christ our Lord. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth Abraham blessed by Melchizedek 7 This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, 2and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchizedek means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” 3Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever. 4Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder! 5Now the law requires the descendants of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people— that is, from their fellow Israelites—even though they also are descended from Abraham. 6This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. 7And without doubt the lesser is blessed by the greater. 8In the one case, the tenth is collected by people who die; but in the other case, by him who is declared to be living. 9One might even say that Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the tenth through Abraham, 10because when Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the body of his ancestor Judah Genesis 49:10 “Judah, your brothers will praise you;… The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his. Israel Rejects God 1 Samuel 8 (NIV)6But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD. 7And the LORD told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. 8As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. 9Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.” 1 Samuel 12:12(NIV)… you said to me, ‘No, we want a king to rule over us’—even though the LORD your God was your king. The Anointing of King David (1 Sam. 16) David was not “the” king of promise “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah ... For thus says the Lord: David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel and the house of Judah” (Jeremiah 33:14-26). “When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come forth from your body and I will establish his kingdom ... Your house and your kingdom shall be made sure before me forever” (II Samuel 7:11-16). David was not “the” king of promise Isaiah speaks of the coming son who will shoulder the government “upon the throne of David, and over his kingdom ... from this time forth and for evermore” (9:6-9) Ezekiel says that the Lord “will set up over them one shepherd, my servant David” (34:23). “My servant David shall be king over them ... forever” (Ezekiel 37:24-25). Psalm 45:6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom. 7You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of joy above Your fellows. Once again their King would be God. Lessons and Carols was first held on Christmas Eve, 1918. It was planned by Eric Milner-White, who at the age of thirty-four had just been appointed Dean of King’s College after experience as an army chaplain. The lessons for tonight have been used for almost 100 years to recall God’s promise to send a Savior, as well as that promise’s fulfillment.   EXHORTATION & PRAYERPlease rise.Dear people of God, in this Christmas season, it is our duty and delight to hear again the message of the angels and, in heart and mind, to go to Bethlehem and see this thing which has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us — the Christ Child lying in a manger, born to save us.Let us read and learn in Holy Scripture the story of the loving purposes of God from the first days after our fall into sin to the glorious redemption brought to us by this holy child.But first, let us pray for people all over the world who would delight with us to know the good news of Jesus Christ and who would join with us in singing his praises. Let us pray for the people of our community and our church.And, because this would please the Lord, let us remember in his name the poor and helpless, the cold, the hungry and the oppressed, the sick and those who are sad, the lonely and the unloved, and the elderly and the little children. FIFTH LESSON: Matthew 1:18-25The angel’s announcement to Joseph.18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ took place. His mother, Mary, was pledged in marriage to Joseph. Must have no uncleanness leprosy etc. Must have an un-trimmed beard Must have special God ordained clothing The high priest– Direct the work of the priests and Levites– Inquire of the Lord– Maintain the golden candlestick with fire – offering sacrifices on the day of atonement The position of high priest continued to the time of Jesus was eliminated in 70 A.D. New Testament Priesthood All Christians are priests, and, with spiritual sacrifices (Rom. 12:1ff; Phil. 2:17; 4:18; Heb. 13:15-16; 1 Pet. 2:5), we offer up service to God through our High Priest, Jesus Christ (Heb. 3:1; 4:14ff), references to children of God as “priests” in the New Testament (1 Pet. 2:5, 9; Rev. 1:6; 5:10; 20:6). False Ideas Associated with Priesthood “were clothed with the powers of Jesus Christ,” and that Catholic priests, as “successors” of the apostles, are similarly endowed with their power (James Cardinal Gibbons, The Faith of Our Fathers, Baltimore: John Murphy, 1917, p. 387ff). The idea is closely associated with the delusion that in performing the “Mass,” the priests are sacrificing the body of Christ — a notion completely at variance with the Scriptures. The New Testament teaches that Jesus was sacrificed once, and that was entirely sufficient (cf. Heb. 9:25-28). 2. The Mormon theory of priesthood is equally erroneous. Mormonism promotes two priesthoods, without which, supposedly, there can be no salvation. These are the Melchizedek and the Aaronic priesthoods (Doctrine & Covenants 107:1-3,5). The Mormon priesthood dogma has no authority higher than that of Joseph Smith, Jr., who claims to have “restored” the ancient order of priests on May 15, 1829 First of all, the Melchizedek priesthood was to belong to Christ, and to none other, until the end of time. The writer of Hebrews says concerning Jesus that: “. . . he, because he abides forever, has his priesthood unchangeable” (7:24). Second, the Aaronic priesthood cannot be operative today because it was an integral part of the law of Moses, which law was abolished by Christ (Eph. 2:15), one could not restore the Aaronic priesthood without “of necessity” resurrecting the entire Mosaic law (Heb. 7:12).
