In The Money Media's Harness Players' Podcast hosts Ray Cotolo and Mikee P sit to look over the post position draws for Hambletonian 2026 and Hambletonian Oaks 2026, which will take place this Saturday (Aug. 8) at The Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, N.J. This year's Hambletonian has gathered an intense three-pronged matchup inside of the 10-horse field with Ohio sensation Big Ranger earning morning-line favoritism at 2-1 following a 1:50 romp in his elimination for driver Tim Tetrick and trainer Anette Lorentzon. The colt, who spurred controversy when the ownership opted to switch trainers ahead of the Hambletonian, will face his toughest test to date as he confronts the 1-2 finishers from the other elimination Apex and Endurance, who together tussled through a long ways off of the pylons to finish noses apart in a 1:50.4 mile. Apex, by generational sire Walner and out of world champion mare Mission Brief, is listed as the second choice on the morning line at 5/2 while Endurance, the gutsy Chris Beaver-trained son of Hambletonian 2021 winner Captain Corey, is listed as the third choice on the morning line at 5-1.

Three Massachusetts State Police witnesses took the stand today in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. She has pleaded not guilty and is mounting an insanity defense, with attorney Kevin Reddington arguing she was in the grip of severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication at the time of the killings.Trooper Mark Farioli testified he collected six blood vials and a urine sample from Clancy at the hospital, executed under a search warrant — the kind of evidence collection that doesn't happen unless investigators are already building a case. Trooper Leah O'Connell, who worked as a forensic evidence tech at the time, walked the jury through how that evidence was logged and moved through the chain of custody, the unglamorous paperwork trail that's supposed to keep a case from falling apart on a technicality. Trooper John Santos testified about executing the search warrant on the Clancy home itself, where investigators found books, workbooks, and pamphlets about postpartum depression and prescription medications — material the defense may lean on, and material prosecutors will likely frame differently.None of it is dramatic on its face. All of it is foundational. Prosecutors are expected to argue Clancy understood the nature of her actions despite the defense's mental-health claims. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted to take her own life by jumping from a second-story window, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out of the home running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial, underway in Plymouth Superior Court, is expected to last several weeks.LinksJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The band took their bow. The house lights came up, and nobody in the Saddledome moved. This is the night the ovation would not stop.Episode summaryAugust 3rd, 2016. A Wednesday. Two nights after the first Calgary show, The Tragically Hip walked back into the Scotiabank Saddledome and played the city goodbye. Ten years on, three fans who were in the building pass the night around the table with jD.Spencer from Calgary is back from the night one episode. This was his third show of the Man Machine Poem Tour and the last time he saw the band live, and he spent it with Alan and Chantel, old friends from ten years of Hitmen games and Saddledome nights. His friend Al's text said it best: heavy but celebratory, like we all knew what was happening but we chose to live in the moment.Julie from Calgary hadn't seen The Hip since 1997. The tickets were a first date anniversary present. She and Keith from Calgary went with her parents, still dating, married the next year, and 'Ahead by a Century' was the wedding song. They talk about the word glioblastoma and where it landed in Julie's family. About Spencer's Periscope vigil in a Calgary bar the night the tour opened in Victoria. About 'Scared' with the lights up, the Jaws shirt, and an ovation that went on so long Gord Downie just stood there in the house lights, telling Calgary it was beautiful.Nobody here claims to be the expert. They were in the room, and ten years later two of them run a charity festival because of it. That part comes up too.Key takeaways• The tickets were a first date anniversary present. Keith and Julie were still dating at the show, married the next year, and 'Ahead by a Century' was their wedding song. Spencer had it at his wedding too.• Spencer watched the Victoria opener through a stranger's Periscope stream in a Calgary bar, and only breathed again once Gord got through the first song.• The middle of the set was an "In Violet Light" collector's run: 'Use It Up' (first since 2006), 'It's a Good Life If You Don't Weaken' (tour debut), 'Throwing Off Glass' (first since 2009), and 'The Dire Wolf' (tour debut). Verified against setlist.fm, cross-referenced with Hipbase.• Julie marks 'Scared' as the moment the night turned - lights up, arms around strangers, the first cracks showing.• The morning the news broke, Keith wore The Hip under his suit to client meetings at the bank, and decided anyone put off by it was not his kind of client anyway.• GEDfest exists because of this show. Julie and Keith founded it after the tour, it turns nine this year, and Spencer signed on as an ambassador before the episode was over.Quotes"Everyone just became one. And for one night, there's very few nights in your life where everybody is connected, positive, happy, loving, sad. You could have hugged anyone in there. You could have kissed anyone in there. It would have been accepted."- Julie from Calgary"This might sound like hyperbole, but in a lot of ways that show changed my life."- Keith from CalgaryGuest information• Spencer from Calgary - back from night one. Three shows on the final tour, and this was the last time he saw The Hip live. His daughter's name is Grace. Draw your own conclusions.• Julie from Calgary - GEDfest co-founder. Had not seen The Hip since 1997. Her first podcast, ever. She did great.• Keith from Calgary - GEDfest co-founder. Still has the paper tickets. The poster is framed on the wall.Resources, links and references• setlist.fm - the full Calgary, August 3 2016 setlist, including both tour debuts and the ten year gap on 'Use It Up'. • Hipbase - primary source for The Tragically Hip setlists and discography, cross-referenced against setlist.fm. • GEDfest - live music for the life and legacy of Gord Edgar Downie, with proceeds to cancer charities across Canada. gedfest.ca]• Helping Families Handle Cancer - the Calgary charity Spencer's sister runs for families whose child is going through cancer.• Lilliput Hats - Karyn Ruiz's Toronto shop, where the hats Keith remembers came from. The medical staff who cared for Lindsay Clancy right after the Duxbury killings had their turn on the stand this week, and their testimony pulls back the curtain on what happened in that hospital room while the rest of the world was still trying to process the news. Clancy, 34, faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation over the deaths of her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 7 months — who prosecutors allege she strangled with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. She's pleaded not guilty, and her attorney, Kevin Reddington, is mounting an insanity defense centered on severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.Rachelle Amedee, the trauma nurse who treated Clancy in that early window, testified that once Clancy regained the ability to communicate — via whiteboard, since she couldn't yet speak — she asked for her attorney. Draw your own conclusions on the timing. Meghan Collins, who worked in the ICU, described the treatment Clancy received during her stay there, adding medical detail to the aftermath of an alleged suicide attempt that left Clancy paralyzed from the waist down after jumping from a second-story window. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was running errands at the time of the killings. He's since moved to Manhattan and given interviews about his wife's mental state. The trial is underway in Plymouth Superior Court and is expected to stretch several weeks.LinksJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Their convictions were stronger than the pressure around them because they had already decided that God alone was worthy of their worship.Daniel 3 reminds us that the greatest victories aren't won in the furnace; they're won long before it, when we choose obedience over convenience and faithfulness over popularity. As we begin Locked In, we'll discover that a life fully devoted to God isn't built by drifting with culture, but by drawing clear lines that honor Christ.Because if you don't decide your convictions today, your circumstances will decide them tomorrow. It's time to draw the line. Why do counterfeits capture our hearts? This weekend, Pastor Joaquin continued our MOSES series with a message about counterfeit gods, why we build them, and how God calls us back to Himself.Exodus 32:4And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf. And they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!” Israel's greatest problem didn't begin with a golden calf; it began long before that. Before they ever built an idol, they drifted from God's presence. In the waiting, their hearts were exposed, and they took the very evidence of God's faithfulness and turned it into a substitute for God Himself.1) Reject God's presence, and you'll replace it with something else.James 2:19You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!God desires more than our belief; He desires our relationship. Before Israel ever built a golden calf, they first chose distance over God's invitation to draw near. When we stop pursuing God's presence, our hearts don't stay empty; they begin searching for substitutes. 2) Waiting reveals what you worship.Exodus 32:1 “When the people saw that Moses delayed…”Waiting reveals us. It exposes what is really in our hearts. The people of God grew impatient, which opened the door for their idolatry. Every idol begins as an attempt to solve a problem we think God hasn't solved fast enough. God isn't late; He's right on time. The question is whether we'll trust him enough to wait.3) We all worship something.Exodus 32:4 “And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf…”The very gold God had provided as evidence of His faithfulness became the material they used to build a substitute. God's gifts were never meant to replace His presence; they were meant to point us back to Him. Every gift He places in our hands has an assignment: to build His Kingdom, not our own.4) Return to the God you replaced.Romans 1:25 “They exchanged the truth about God for a lie…”The answer to idolatry isn't simply tearing down the idol, because apart from Christ we'll just build another one. Our hearts were created to worship, and if Jesus isn't on the throne, something else will be. The good news of the gospel is that when we replaced God, He didn't replace us. Through Jesus, He faithfully pursued us and still invites us to return to the One who alone can satisfy our hearts.Counterfeits lose their power when you've spent time with the real thing. This week, don't settle for a substitute. Draw near to the God who is still inviting you into relationship with Him!

What AI Knows Before You Draw the First LineAI site feasibility analysis is changing how architects evaluate land before design begins. In this episode of the EntreArchitect Podcast, Mark R. LePage talks with Gayathri (G3) Venkataraman, Founder and CEO of GeoProspex.ai, about how artificial intelligence is helping architects and developers make better decisions before the first line is drawn. Drawing on decades of AI leadership at Microsoft and DocuSign, G3 explains how practical AI tools can reduce uncertainty early in the design process.G3 shares how GeoProspex.ai combines proprietary AI models with trusted data sources to speed up site feasibility while protecting privacy and improving accuracy. She explains why architects should think of AI as a decision support tool rather than a replacement for professional judgment. As a result, teams can identify opportunities and risks in minutes instead of days. The conversation explores what AI means for the future of architecture, real estate, and construction. G3 discusses how firms can begin using AI today without changing everything at once. What the Bible Says About Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual warfare is real—but it doesn't have to be confusing or frightening. In this episode, we open Scripture to explore what God has revealed about the unseen spiritual battle every Christian faces. Together we'll look at who Satan is, how he works through temptation, deception, and accusation, and why we never need to live in fear. Most importantly, we'll discover the overwhelming victory of Jesus Christ, who has conquered sin, death, and the powers of darkness. Drawing from passages such as Ephesians 6, Matthew 4, Revelation 12, James 4, and many others, we discuss how God equips us to stand firm in faith, resist the devil, put on the armor of God, and live with confidence in Christ's authority and protection. Whether spiritual warfare is a new topic for you or one you've wrestled with for years, our hope is that this conversation leaves you with greater clarity, deeper peace, and renewed confidence in the One who has already won the battle. Find the Surrender Journal here: https://www.drawnear.me/shop Foundational Passages on Spiritual Warfare The Reality of Spiritual Warfare The Armor of God Ephesians 6:10–18Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; above all taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints… Be Watchful 1 Peter 5:8–9Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your brotherhood throughout the world. Satan Is the Father of LiesJohn 8:44b“… He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” Satan Disguises Himself 2 Corinthians 11:14And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Christ's Victory Jesus Defeats Satan in the Wilderness Matthew 4:1–11Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And he fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'” Then the devil took him to the holy city, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will give his angels charge of you,' And ‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.'” Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.'” Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them; and he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Begone, Satan! for it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'” Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him. Christ Disarmed the Powers Colossians 2:13–15And you, who were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, having canceled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands; this he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the principalities and powers and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in him. The Son of God Destroyed the Works of the Devil 1 John 3:8bThe reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. Christ Has All Authority Matthew 28:18And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me…” Michael and the DragonRevelation 12:7–12Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they were defeated and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!” The Woman and the Serpent Genesis 3:15I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” Our Response Resist the Devil James 4:7–8Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you men of double mind. The Weapons of the Christian 2 Corinthians 10:3–5For though we live in the world we are not carrying on a worldly war, for the weapons of our warfare are not worldly but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ… Jesus Sympathizes With Our Weakness Hebrews 4:14–16Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we have not a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sinning. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Do Not Give the Devil an Opportunity Ephesians 4:26–27Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil. Our Protection and Confidence The Lord Is My Light and Salvation Psalm 27:1–3The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me, uttering slanders against me, my adversaries and foes, they shall stumble and fall. Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. Under His Wings Psalm 91He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence; he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your refuge, the Most High your habitation, no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near your tent. For he will give his angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder, the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot. Because he cleaves to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him my salvation. The Lord Protects His People 2 Thessalonians 3:3But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from evil. God Provides a Way Out 1 Corinthians 10:13No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. No Weapon Shall Prosper Isaiah 54:17“… no weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, says the Lord.” Greater Is He Within You 1 John 4:4Little children, you are of God, and have overcome them; for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. One Final Word** _ Romans 16:19-20_ **For while your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, I would have you wise as to what is good and guileless as to what is evil; then the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. BIG Life Devotional | Daily Devotional for Women

Last week we talked about valleys and mountains. Valleys being those dreaded low places in life, and mountains being those beautiful highs. We all want to stay in our mountaintop experiences, but we can’t. Do you remember why? Because nothing grows on top of a mountain. If you go high enough, the view is breathtaking, but the air is too thin for anything to grow. And that’s the way we are. The highs are beautiful, but we’re not growing when we’ve reached the pinnacle. God wants His girls continually growing. Don’t you realize there is so much more potential in you? God loves you so much, He won’t allow you to remain in a place where that potential becomes stagnant. So, to the valleys we go. The valley is where everything grows. Down here, sis, in these trenches, is where you grow. God’s greatest desire isn’t simply for you to be happy or comfortable. It’s for you to know Him, trust Him, and become the fullness of who He created you to be. Can you see that? Your valley isn’t evidence that God has forsaken you—it’s often evidence that He hasn’t. He loves you entirely too much to leave you standing on that mountaintop. Where would I be if I hadn’t struggled with my health and faced death? Where would I be if I hadn’t gone through financial disaster and lost it all? Where would I be if I hadn’t been crushed on this journey to the point of wanting to quit? Where would I be if my family hadn’t endured seven years of division and separation? Would I be happier? Actually, no. Would I be further along? Absolutely not. Without those hardships, those struggles, and those deep valleys, I wouldn’t have discovered I could really trust God. I would still be so full of myself—convinced my success was something I had earned. I would think the house I owned, the car I drove, and the clothes I wore defined me. I would have missed the miracle of waking up to another day of life. I would still be standing on my mountain, looking down on those who were struggling, quietly assuming they must have done something wrong while I had somehow done everything right. Thank You, Lord, for not leaving me there. Because on that mountain, I would have missed the sweetness of humility. I would have taken so much for granted. I would have remained trapped in my performance, my striving, and my self-importance. And perhaps most tragically of all, I would have walked through this life with knowing ABOUT God, but not really KNOWING him, not really TRUSTING him, not really LEANING on him, not really changed by him, and not really truly LOVING him. Here, in the middle of those struggles and hardships, I found something I never would have discovered on the mountain: He didn’t leave me here. He’s growing me here. So why am I coming back around to this valley teaching? Quite simply, because that’s exactly where the Holy Spirit led me this morning. And I believe this message isn’t just for someone out there—it’s for someone listening right now. Here’s what He put on my heart… Someone woke up today feeling incredibly alone. Someone is dealing with people who are exhausting, difficult, and beyond their ability to change. Someone is married to an unbeliever and wondering how much longer they can carry the weight of that burden. Someone is watching their aging parents face decisions they never wanted to make, navigating circumstances where every option feels impossible. Someone is crying out for their prodigal, wondering when they’ll finally come home. Someone is facing financial devastation and doesn’t know how they’re going to make it. Someone is standing in the middle of a mess they cannot fix, no matter how hard they try. Someone is walking through the darkest wilderness season of their life and quietly wondering, “Am I ever going to get out of this?” Sis, if that’s you, I want you to hear this clearly: You are not forgotten. You are not abandoned. You are not stuck in a place where God cannot reach you. The same God who meets you on the mountaintop is the God who walks with you through the valley. And maybe, just maybe, this valley isn’t where your story is falling apart. Maybe it’s where God is growing something in you that could never grow anywhere else. So for you, my sweet sister, God knew you would be listening today. And for you, He asked me to remind you once again of the growth in the low places. The fruit you will produce because of your time in the valley. Remember those fruits: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Yes, here in the valley of loneliness. Here in the valley with difficult people. Here in the valley with an unbelieving spouse. Here in the valley with aging parents. Here in the valley with your prodigal. Here in the valley with no money, messes you can’t fix, and this dreaded wilderness—God is drawing closer and closer to you. Why? Because it’s here that you realize you need Him. It’s here that you hit your knees. It’s here that you draw near to Him because He is your only way, your only refuge, and your only hope. And James 4:8 promises, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” This is the valley of closeness. This is the valley of abiding. This is the valley of dependence. This is where your prayers change from rushed and routine to desperate and real. This is where His Word becomes more than words on a page—it becomes your daily bread. This is where worship becomes your warfare and peace becomes your victory. This is where you stop asking, “Lord, how do I get out of this?” and begin asking, “Lord, what are You growing in me here?” This is where you discover that Jesus really is enough. And isn’t that what we’ve wanted all along? Not merely a better life, but a deeper one. Not merely God’s blessings, but God’s presence. Not merely a mountaintop experience, but a relationship so intimate that we can whisper, “Whether I’m on the mountain or in the valley, it is well with my soul.” Sis, don’t waste your valley wishing you were somewhere else. God has fruit growing here that couldn’t grow anywhere else. One day you’ll stand on another mountaintop and realize you didn’t get there in spite of your valley – you got there BECAUSE of it. Yes, what’s growing in you HERE will take you to greater places next than you’ve ever imagined. This is where you learn a deep abiding faith and trust that creates a HOLY YES to God’s next invitation. An invitation you would dismiss if you didn’t first grow here in this valley. An invitation to higher ground which you would have been to afraid to accept if you wouldn’t have see the hand of God in this low. Grab your Bible and open it to 2 Corinthians. This is a book written by Paul as he was suffering greatly. He was being beaten, being imprisoned, facing constant turmoil and threats, all because he knew Jesus, he loved Jesus, and he was spreading the teaching of Jesus. He’s not writing about these things for pity, he’s sharing of his valley because he’s personally experiencing the growth and change within. Chapter 1, verse 8-9, Paul writes, “We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure and we thought we would never live through it.” Okay – let’s pause right there. Is that how you feel? Are you questioning how you’re going to live through this? Do you feel crushed? Do you feel overwhelmed? Do you feel you simply don’t have the ability to continue in what you’re going through? Yes? KEEP READING!!!!!! The next thing Paul says is “BUT AS A RESULT …” Underline that. Highlight it. Circle it. Draw arrows to it. Paul is saying this horrendous valley he went through, uncertain he could even make it through produced a result. It caused something in his life. It wasn’t meaningless. It was all for a purpose. What resulted? “AS A RESULT, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.” And what this says is if God can raise the dead, if he can defeat the most final of all finals which is death itself, then he can bring life, bring hope, bring light back to whatever hard, dark, overwhelming, and too far gone thing you’re dealing with. Through this valley, through this hardship, through this thing you question if you’re going to be able to even make it through, something is going to shift and you’re going to change. That change is you will STOP RELYING ON YOURSELF AND LEARN TO RELY ONLY ON GOD. Jesus says in Matthew 19:26, “For with God, all things are possible.” Not without him. You’ve tried that. BUT WITH GOD – have you tried that yet? WITH GOD, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. This is you learning to rely only on God. I love to study different translations of a scripture to really understand it. Using the Bible app, I have my preferred translations set to NLT, NIV, TPT, and MSG. Then, when reading a specific scripture in the app, I can just hold down on it, then hit “compare” and it will show me that exact verse in all those different translations. If you’re not using that tool, try it. So, for example, that same scripture, 1 Corinthians 1:9 in the MSG translation says this, “As it turned out, it was the best thing that could have happened. WE WERE FORCED TO TRUST GOD TOTALLY.” Well doesn’t that explain this season of your life? This wilderness, this hardship, this struggle. This isn’t because God has forsaken you here – this is because God is working here. He’s growing you. He’s literally allowing the best thing that could ever happen. What’s that … he’s allowing you to experience first hand that you can trust him totally. God knows most of us wouldn’t just naturally trust him totally. God knows we will have to experience that impossible situation for ourselves, come to the very end of ourselves, sit in the mess without a way to fix it, and then call out to him. And when we call out to him, he comes running! He comes running with power that can strengthen you, give you peace, and bring every dead thing back to life. And then you know – YOU CAN TRUST GOD TOTALLY. As a result of your low valley, you are learning more about God than any class could ever teach you. And perhaps the greatest gift of all won’t be what God DID FOR you in the valley. It will be what He did IN you. HE GREW YOU! Maybe you feel like God is distant, your prayers aren't working, or you've made too many mistakes for Him to want to be close to you anymore. The truth may surprise you. In this Bible study, you'll discover what Scripture actually says about your relationship with God under the New Covenant. You'll learn why your standing with God is based on what Jesus did, not your performance, how your friendship with God has been restored, and why nothing can separate you from His love. James 4:7-8: "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” Although the title of this message is not an actual biblical quote, it is an ominous reality. Many professing Christians only draw near to God on Sundays, while cozying up to the devil throughout the week. James calls on his readers to draw near to God as if their very life depended upon it. “You will find Him if you search for Him with all your soul.” Scripture quotations are from The ESV® Bible (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version®), copyright © 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers. What happens when two beloved picture book creators, Caldecott Honorees, and longtime friends with very different artistic styles make a book together? In Episode 200 of the Adventures in Learning podcast, host Dr. Diane Jackson Schnoor welcomes acclaimed authors and illustrators Molly Idle and Juana Martinez-Neal for a warm, funny, and thoughtful conversation. Together, they offer an exclusive look behind their new picture book, Off The Wall, exploring the joys and messy realities of true creative collaboration.Along the way, they talk about trust, studio process, file-naming systems, rhinoceroses, rhino dehorning, sidewalk chalk, and why play still matters for adults just as much as children.Episode SummaryMaking Art & Sharing the JourneyThis milestone episode is a celebration of making things together. Molly and Juana share how their artistic partnership evolved from an earlier project (I Don't Care) into a deeper collaboration where they learned to trade off, set aside egos, and choose the best idea for the story. They also share candid insights into the business side of being children's book artists, navigating long-distance co-creation, and why traveling together makes the creative journey far more meaningful. From Picture Books to Conservation in South AfricaThere is also an inspiring South Africa thread running through this conversation. The episode returns to their shared experience with Wild Tomorrow, the Green Mambas, community-led conservation, rewilding, and the creative problem-solving required to protect both people and the planet. From community murals to wildlife protection, the episode highlights a core truth: art, like conservation, is collaborative, messy, and deeply human. Why Adults Need PlayAt the center of it all is a question that reaches beyond the picture book page and into everyday life: how do we keep play alive? Molly and Juana make a compelling case that creativity isn't just for childhood, showing how everyday play opens the door to empathy, curiosity, and human connection. That is exactly the kind of learning this podcast loves to celebrate.Chapters & Timestamps00:00 - Introduction & Reunited Friends 01:17 - Collaborating Across Distance 03:22 - What Story-First Collaboration Looks Like 06:36 - The Business vs. The Art 12:39 - First Look at Off The Wall 18:38 - "Happy Accidents" in the Studio 22:24 - Memories from South Africa 25:28 - Dr. Diane Mid-Roll 27:01 - Street Art & Everyday Creativity 32:32 - The Vital Importance of Adult Play 35:03 - Lessons from Conservation Workers 48:18 - Play-Based Learning Over Prescriptive Teaching 50:43 - What Brings You Hope?Links & ResourcesPre-Order Off The Wall (Releasing August 4, 2026!) A 1-1 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes featured flashes of promise, another strong performance from Marco Reus, a breakthrough goal from Joseph Paintsil, and a dramatic penalty save from JT Marcinkowski in the final moments to preserve the result. But despite the resilient finish, the Galaxy slipped to 11th place in the Western Conference and continue searching for the consistency needed to climb back into the playoff race. On this episode of Corner of the Galaxy, Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss whether the point gained in the Cali Clásico is something the Galaxy can build upon or simply another example of a team struggling to capitalize on its chances. They also examine Joseph Paintsil's finishing, Harbor Miller's continued emergence, the pressure surrounding Greg Vanney, and why the Galaxy's home form has become their biggest obstacle. The show also dives into Dylan Vanney's loan to Real Betis, the latest on Kyogo Furuhashi's arrival, the Galaxy's remaining transfer plans before the September 2 deadline, and why another impact signing may still be necessary if the club hopes to make a serious playoff push. Can the Galaxy finally build momentum, or are they running out of time?

Read OnlineEntering and Becoming the House of GodJesus dismissed the crowds and went into the house. His disciples approached him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” Matthew 13:36Today's Gospel begins with a subtle yet significant detail: “Jesus dismissed the crowds and went into the house.” This transition from the public to the private reflects a recurring pattern in the Gospels: Our Lord teaches the crowds in parables, veiling the mysteries of the Kingdom, while reserving their fuller explanation for the disciples in the quiet intimacy of the house. In this context, the house becomes a symbol of the Church—the inner sanctuary where Christ reveals His secrets to those who follow Him not only outwardly, but with humble faith and spiritual hunger.Though the disciples—likely the Twelve Apostles—were uniquely privileged to share this moment with Jesus, in which He explained the Parable of the Weeds among the Wheat in precise detail, this sacred setting is not closed to us. Each of us is invited into this “house” through the life of the Church. Though the Apostles were weak and sinful like all of us, they were nevertheless chosen to be the first bishops—visible shepherds who would continue Christ's mission after His Ascension. Through their fidelity, the Word of God went forth to the ends of the earth, a proclamation that continues today through their successors. While each of the baptized is called to proclaim the Gospel in accord with his or her vocation and mission, the bishops—and their co-workers, the priests—uniquely form the spiritual household through which Christ continues to speak with clarity. Through their preaching, governance, and sacramental ministry, the hidden mysteries of Christ's teaching are continually made known. This is not due to their personal merit, but because of the sacred office entrusted to them by Christ through Apostolic Succession. They became the foundation of the Church—the spiritual House of God—in which Jesus continues to minister.Place yourself in this Gospel scene. You, too, are called to draw near to Christ, to enter the house with Him, and to seek understanding with the heart of a disciple. In the Church—this household of faith—the Master still teaches, still explains, still reveals the mysteries of the Kingdom to those who desire to listen. As you prayerfully see yourself in this scene, unite it with your experience of your parish church and other sacred places where God has spoken to you, nourished you, and transformed you. When the Gospel changes us, the Sacraments nourish us, and the Church guides us, it is always Christ who is teaching, feeding, and leading. We must, therefore, learn to see beyond the minister or the building, recognizing Christ's presence, speaking to us and sanctifying us through His Church.Though the Church—the visible presence of the Kingdom of God on earth—is the privileged place where we encounter Christ, each of us, in our own unique way, is also called to be this “house” for others. Because God dwells within us, His Kingdom is present within our souls. Thus, this Gospel scene is not only about entering the house—it is also an invitation to become that house: a dwelling place where others may encounter Christ, hear His Word, receive His mercy, and be drawn into His love through the witness of our charity.Reflect today on this house. First, see the Church as the house in which Christ speaks to you most clearly. Give thanks for the many ways our Lord has spoken to you and fed you in this sacred House of God. Reflect also on your own soul as a dwelling place of God. Believe that Christ desires to use you to bring others into His presence, dwelling within your soul. Give thanks for this gift, and pray that you may be both a faithful disciple within the house and a radiant house of grace for others to enter and meet Christ our Lord. Most intimate Lord, You desire to reveal to me—and to all Your children—the deep and profound mysteries of Your Kingdom of grace. Draw me to Yourself, to Your House of Grace and Mercy, which resides within Your holy Church. Teach me, sanctify me, and form me according to Your holy will. As You make Your dwelling within me, make my soul a place where others may encounter You, hear Your Word, and receive Your grace. Jesus, I trust in You.  Image: Christ Taking Leave of the Apostles, by Duccio di BuoninsegnaSource: Free RSS feed from catholic-daily-reflections.com — Copyright © 2026 My Catholic Life! Inc.
