In this episode we chat with Elizabeth Best about the New York 4 hander musical - Ordinary Days"If life really were more like a musical, you’d be contented if that life percolated as vibrantly as does “Ordinary Days,” Adam Gwon’s sweet, fleet and tender survey of four youngish New Yorkers, fighting through the emotional noise and dramatic traffic to arrive at a clearer sense of who they are and what they want to be." - https://www.washingtonpost.comFurther Reading:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordinary_Dayshttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Gwonhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunter_Fosterhttps://stageagent.com/shows/musical/9857/ordinary-dayshttps://www.guidetomusicaltheatre.com/shows_o/OrdinaryDays.htmlhttps://origintheatrical.com.au/work/9374Like us on Facebook! We hear two new songs from STRING, the new musical Adam Gwon is writing "Uncharted Territory" performed by Heidi Blickenstaff with Carey Anderson, Geoff Packard, Zachary Prince, and Katie Thompson "Just Curious" performed by Geoff Packard and Heidi Blickenstaff James Tyler is a current DGFund fellow, and is breaking in a big way with three simultaneus fellowships. But it wasn't always that way. He tells us about it. It takes a lot of moxie to get noticed, even in Children's Theatre. Month Upon a Time, Episode #1 (June): It's opening night of my new podcast series/song-cycle, Month Upon a Time! And I'm thrilled to have the super-talented Kate Wetherhead on the bill to sing the first song, "Drink My Way!"Kate first caught my eye in TheatreworksUSA's wonderful production of Sarah Plain and Tall, and she has continued to impress with performances in Broadway's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Legally Blonde, the Off-Broadway production of Adam Gwon's great musical, Ordinary Days, and most recently as Sally Bowles in the Dallas Theater Center production of Cabaret.Meanwhile, as if that weren't enough, she and fellow super-talent Andrew Keenan-Bolger created, wrote, directed, and produced an original web series,Submissions Only, which is a knock-out! Six beautifully executed, fun, funny episodes which I highly recommend! Can't wait for Season Two!!And if you want even more Kate, you can check out some of hermany terrific youtube performances....Special thanks to the outrageously talented actor, Steve Rosen, whose idea inspired this month's song. And one last big thank you to my old college buddy, set designer Bradley Kaye, for the adorable artwork for Month Upon a Time. (Don't you just love the little Twitter bird perched on March?)If you're interested in singing "Drink My Way," the sheet music is now available from my online music store. This episode was recorded on June 9, 2011.
