I grew up in West Virginia, where I first fell in love with nature, acting, music, and the performing arts. Though my wanderlust had me yearning for worldly exposure, travel, exploring bigger cities and greener pastures, (which I eagerly did), the arts culture in my hometown was incredibly rich, and the experiences I had during my formative years were invaluable. Some of my closest friends today are the same people I grew up exploring and playing with onstage as a kid.Beginning around the age of 8, I would re-enact my favorite movies in the backyard, roping my sister and best friend into my imaginative worlds. Even then, I was fascinated by dissecting the characters in a story, trying to understand the emotions behind them. It was my first connection to acting and psychology. Early on I understood that acting wasn't about pretending—it was about finding the truth. This passion for understanding people led me to earn a Bachelor's in Theatre Arts in Acting, a Master's in Psychology, and embark on a PhD in Humanistic Psychology, where my research focuses on the mental wellness and boundaries of performing artists, challenging the romanticized notion of the starving artist, advocating instead for the option of a thriving, balanced life.My love for storytelling extends beyond the stage and screen into the realm of wellness. As a certified Integrative Wellness Coach & Energy Healer, I help clients achieve balance and clarity by blending creative insights with holistic practices. I believe that our stories shape us, and connecting with our true narrative is essential for living an authentic, fulfilling life.In addition, I host the Top 3% Podcast Unconditioning: Discovering the Voice Within where I've interviewed hundreds of guests about following their inner authentic voice and intuition. This rich catalog of wisdom not only serves as qualitative research but aids me to help anyone—artists and non-artists alike—align with their true selves and their authentic stories.Whether I'm delivering a soliloquy, presenting a research paper, or sharing insights from podcast guests, my passions for the creative arts and psychology continually inform and enrich one another. It's all part of the grand performance that is my life—a sophisticated and whimsical blend of drama, intellect, and a touch of W(h)it. www.whitneyannjenkins.com www.instagram.com/whitneyannjenkins www.instagram.com/unconditoningpodcast

The bug bit again and Rico started performing in several plays and Independent films. Rico also majored in Theatre Arts at San Francisco State University. Eventually, Rico moved to Los Angeles and has been blessed to have many film, television, voice over and theatre credits to his name. This is one of the most enriching discussions about health I've had—not by dissecting the intricate mechanisms of health, but by exploring a deeper understanding. Despite the marketing from the ever-growing 'Health & Wellness' industry, there is nothing they can tell or sell you. The truth is, no ritual, supplement or bio hack can replace the essential communion with our bodies, and no scientific study can rekindle our intrinsic connection to nature. Joining us is the remarkable Dr. Kathy Yeo, a true polymath artist and seasoned holistic practitioner. She approaches healing through the lens of relationships, emphasising that a broader perspective on health reveals what's often missing in the reductionist, mechanistic view of healthcare: meaningful connection. These connections to ourselves, to nature, and the cosmos at large, is HEALTH. I always gauge the quality of a conversation by how much I remember of it. When I can't recall the details until I revisit the recording, I know we've engaged in a genuine flow—an unfolding of ideas and insights. It's a conversation about so much more than health but reconnection. Dr Kathy Yeo. For her Bachelor's degree, she has a double major in Bioinformatics and Theatre Arts. She was the first student to graduate in Bioinformatics (the application for Human Genome Project). For her academic success, Dr. Kathy was offered to study pre-med at Leeds University, England, and participated in Tribolium Genome Sequencing Consortium research at the University of Cologne, Germany. Dr. Kathy graduated from Life Chiropractic College West in San Francisco Bay Area as a recipient of the Student Achievement Award and finished the program six months early. Her training was focused on Applied Kinesiology and Osteopath (Craniopathy and Visceral Manipulation Reflex Technique). Her post-graduate studies include functional medicine, clinical nutrition, bioenergetic medicine, German drainage therapy, living food medicine, and various detox protocols. Foster was a prosecutor in Maryland for 20 years and then opened up his own law firm where he represented criminal defendants for an additional 15 years. As a prosecutor, he tried approximately 100 jury trials, including homicides, sexual assaults, domestic violence and animal cruelty cases. He also won the first conviction under the new law in 2000.Foster graduated from Bennington College in Vermont with a double major in Literature and Theatre Arts. He then spent two years as a copywriter at the Madison Avenue advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather.Foster then traveled in Europe while based in Amsterdam, where he performed for two years at the English Speaking Theatre of Amsterdam. In the 1980s, Foster performed in various TV soap operas, including “Ryan's Hope,” “Search For Tomorrow,” “The Guiding Light,” “Another World,” and “As The World Turns.”Disenchanted with the world of professional acting, Foster entered law school to become an entertainment lawyer, but took a different path once he studied criminal law.At Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Foster won the school-wide Moot Court tournament and also received the prize for best legal writing, the Best Brief Award, and the prize for best speaker, the Best Oralist Award. He was then named to represent Emory in the National Moot Court tournament where he competed against other law schools from across the country.Upon graduation from law school, Foster first worked for the Department of Justice in Wilmington, Delaware and then took a position as an Assistant State's Attorney in Maryland.GAVEL TO GAVEL, Foster's first legal thriller, is based on Foster's experiences as a prosecutor. The only eyewitness is their nine-year-old disabled daughter. Her testimony is the key to the case. Top prosecutor Mac MacIntyre is calm, confident and relies on his courtroom cunning to maneuver through a maze of office politics, the bright glare of the media spotlight and his own thorny ethical dilemmas. The story follows Mac as he navigates from the crime scene investigation to the selection of the jury, to fierce cross-examination, to a surprising jury verdict.GAVEL TO GAVEL was published by Paper Raven Books in 2023 and has garnered many positive reviews. A. X. Foster was a prosecutor in Maryland for 20 years and then opened up his own law firm where he represented criminal defendants for an additional 15 years. As a prosecutor, he tried approximately 100 jury trials, including homicides, sexual assaults, domestic violence and animal cruelty cases. His work promoting increased protection for animals led to the legislature enacting the first felony animal abuse law in Maryland history. He also won the first conviction under the new law in 2000. Foster graduated from Bennington College in Vermont with a double major in Literature and Theatre Arts. He then spent two years as a copywriter at the Madison Avenue advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather. Foster then traveled in Europe while based in Amsterdam, where he performed for two years at the English Speaking Theatre of Amsterdam. After returning to New York, he became a member of the acting unions Actors' Equity, the Screen Actors' Guild, and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. In the 1980s, Foster performed in various TV soap operas, including “Ryan's Hope,” “Search For Tomorrow,” “The Guiding Light,” “Another World,” and “As The World Turns.” Disenchanted with the world of professional acting, Foster entered law school to become an entertainment lawyer, but took a different path once he studied criminal law. At Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Foster won the school-wide Moot Court tournament and also received the prize for best legal writing, the Best Brief Award, and the prize for best speaker, the Best Oralist Award. He was then named to represent Emory in the National Moot Court tournament where he competed against other law schools from across the country. Upon graduation from law school, Foster first worked for the Department of Justice in Wilmington, Delaware and then took a position as an Assistant State's Attorney in Maryland. GAVEL TO GAVEL, Foster's first legal thriller, is based on Foster's experiences as a prosecutor. A life-long fan of murder mysteries and legal thrillers, with Agatha Christie, John Grisham and James Patterson as influences, Foster began writing the novel in 2020, when COVID greatly curtailed activity in the local courthouse. In GAVEL TO GAVEL, a wealthy businessman is murdered by his wife. The story follows Mac as he navigates from the crime scene investigation to the selection of the jury, to fierce cross-examination, to a surprising jury verdict. GAVEL TO GAVEL was published by Paper Raven Books in 2023 and has garnered many positive reviews. His next book in THE SENECA COUNTY COURTHOUSE SERIES is titled DOUBLE BLIND, and features another murder trial with elements of police and judicial corruption. In this digital age, technology can connect us in ways we never imagined. In this week's episode, both of our storytellers share stories of the weird and wonderful ways technology created new opportunities and forged new relationships. Part 1: In an attempt to be seen as “cool” by his friends, Azhar Bande-Ali reaches out to the Steve Wozniak and invites him for coffee. Part 2: Don Picard can't stop using technology to keep tabs on his son. Azhar Bande-Ali is a storyteller who likes his tales with a side of laughs. His award-winning debut solo show, "Curry and Catharsis," presented at the NYC Fringe Festival, won hearts for telling an Indian story hyphenated by an American upbringing. As a former Moth StorySLAM winner, he obsesses over story structure that leaves plenty of room for silliness to highlight the complexities of the human experience. Don Picard has worked in the Boston area for 30 years as a software developer. He was a double major in Theatre Arts and Computer Science at Cornell, and chose to work as an engineer in order to be able to live in Cambridge and feed his family. Don enjoys telling live stories about his kids, husband, and extended family as it is fun, therapeutic, and allows him to exercise the other half of his college degree so he doesn't become bitter. Lucinda has been a story lover since she and her family watched TV and movies together. Her father taught her how to find the deeper layers of a story. This love prompted her to pursue a double major BA in Religious Studies and Theatre and Speech, a MA in Theatre Arts, and finally a MAEd so she could share her love of stories with her students. She grew up in the Pacific Northwest but has lived in Southern Arizona for over 28 years moving there after a three month trip circumnavigating the globe. Now completely retired, Lucinda writes her weekly blog Sage Woman Chronicles, is working on her second novel, manages her Patreon Community and Apple subscriptions as well as producing the bi-weekly podcast, Story-Power.Takeaways: The podcast emphasizes the importance of storytelling in understanding human emotions and connections. Lucinda's journey highlights how arts education can empower students to express themselves creatively. The shift towards STEM subjects in education often overlooks the value of arts and humanities. Empowerment and resilience are crucial for students to navigate their personal challenges effectively. Lucinda's mentors inspired her to embrace her passions and pursue a career in education. One of the best things about founding and developing Prenatal Yoga Center has been getting the chance to foster and grow our perinatal community. Throughout the months during (and after) their pregnancy, our students and staff get to know each other through rich dialogue where we work through things that come up, connect on shared experiences, and learn from different ones! Being so invested in their journey leading up to birth, I always feel fortunate when I get to hear how baby came into the world. So today, we have one of my favorite episode types: a community birth story. On today's episode of Yoga| Birth| Babies, we have former prenatal student Alicia Krakauer. Alicia is a born and bred New Yorker, a musical theater actress, and singer songwriter. After finishing her graduate degree at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, she met her husband Liam back in 2014. They now live back in her hometown of NYC, and have just welcomed their first baby boy, Alastair, who was born at Lenox Hill just like his mommy! Alicia gets candid about the twists and turns that occurred in her birth and gives wonderful advice on how to process duality; allowing the space for more than one thing to be true, in both birth and postpartum. This is such an organic conversation, and I can't wait for you to hear it. Get the most out of each episode by checking out the show notes with links, resources and other related podcasts at: prenatalyogacenter.com (*hyperlink episode link from Wordpress!)
