She garnered critical acclaim and a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Tom Kitt and John Logan's Superhero at Second Stage. High School Musical icon Corbin Bleu joins The Art of Kindness with Robert Peterpaul to discuss navigating the industry with kindness from tv sets to Broadway stages. The performer gets a starry surprise (spoiler alert) from his DCOM co-star and friend Lucas Grabeel. CORBIN BLEU (Joe Ross) is a versatile actor, singer/songwriter, dancer, voiceover artist and host. Bleu is best known as Chad Danforth in the Emmy-winning HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL franchise. Recently, Bleu starred in the TV movies Love, For Real and A Christmas Dance Reunion and special guest-starred in Seasons 3 and 4 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+. On Broadway, Bleu starred in the Tony-nominated 2019 revival of Kiss Me, Kate at Studio 54, earning a Drama Desk nomination. He headlined as Ted Hanover in Holiday Inn, winning the Chita Rivera Award, and also appeared in Godspell (Jesus) and In the Heights (Usnavi). Additional stage highlights include Hairspray (Seaweed) and Mamma Mia! (Sky) at the Hollywood Bowl. Anthony Warlow has been thrilling audiences from the moment he arrived on the theatrical scene and has successfully inhabited a diversity of roles in opera and musical theatre, his versatility gaining him an honoured place on the international stage.From his debut with the Australian Opera in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream in 1980, he has left an indelible stamp on the industry both at home and abroad. He not only is a Tony nominee, a respected professor but an extremely passionate advocate for the arts and safe working conditions. Lindsay's Broadway credits include Slave Play, The Nap, Bronx Bombers and A Time To Kill; and a nomination for a Tony for Best Score and Best Sound Design of a Play. His off-Broadway work has been heard at Playwrights Horizons, The Public Theater, MCC, Primary Stages, and many others. International credits include works at Royal Shakespeare Festival (UK), Stratford Festival (Canada), and many others. Lindsay has created music and sound for over 500 productions in regional theatres across the US. Awards include seven Joseph Jefferson Awards and twenty-four nominations, 2 ASCAP Plus Awards, two Ovation Awards and three nominations, a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, a San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Award and two nominations, as well as multiple nominations for Drama Desk Awards, Helen Hayes Awards, Barrymore Awards, and many others. In film/television, he has created original score for over 35 projects, including HBO Films' A Note Of Triumph: The Golden Age of Norman Corwin, which won the 2006 Academy Award for Best Documentary, Short Subject. Stage manager, USITT Board member, and co-author of The Production Manager's Toolkit Cary Gillett discusses how the book idea came to life, the thoughtful changes that came with the second edition, and why this book's existence is important for the industry.Cary Gillett has worked as a production manager and stage manager in the Maryland/Washington DC area for over two decades. Cary is currently the General Manager of the DC branch of the event technology company CMI. Previously she has worked as a production manager for the Baltimore Center Stage, University of Maryland in College Park, Round House Theatre, the Potomac Theatre Project and the Helen Hayes Awards, celebrating theatre in the Washington DC area. Her stage management credits include three years as the Resident Stage Manager at the Round House Theatre in Bethesda, MD, the “In Performance” series at the White House and “A Salute to the Presidential Scholars” at the Kennedy Center. Cary is an adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland and Howard Community College where she teaches classes in management and communication. Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Harry Hamlin, Superstar Actor & Author, “Full Frontal Nudity:  The Making of an Accidental Actor” About Harvey's guest: Today's special guest, Harry Hamlin, is a beloved, highly acclaimed actor who's brought us many memorable performances throughout his 4-decade plus career.   On the big screen, he got a Golden Globe Award nomination in 1979 for New Star of the Year, for his performance opposite George C. Lewis' The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, which has played in The City of London Festival, Off-Broadway in New York, and in more than 1000 productions throughout the US, Canada, Great Britain, and Australia. His Narnia Suite for symphony orchestra and four singers premiered at New York's Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center. He wrote music and lyrics for Jungle Queen Debutante, produced for New York's NYMF Festival and by Seattle's Village Theatre. He contributed several songs (music and lyrics) for Off-Broadway's Pets! and the music for The Dream Team (Goodspeed Opera) and Tommy Tune's one-man musical, Ichabod (Boston and New York). Another musical of Tierney's, ELEANOR - An American Love Story, has played in many US theaters, including Ford's Theatre in Washington (two Helen Hayes Awards), Chicago's Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, Seattle's Village Theatre (Issaquah, WA), the historic Barter Theatre in Virginia, and the Pittsburgh Public Theatre. Jeff began training in his youth with The Rock School and The Princeton Ballet in Philadelphia. Growing up in Philly as a multi-racial kid, he quickly learned the power of his heritage and began using it to fuel his storytelling. Jeff went on to study Theatre with a minor in Dance at Point Park University Conservatory of the Performing Arts, in Pittsburgh, PA. While attending Point Park University, he was able to make connections at the Pittsburgh CLO, where he received his equity card and performed in CLO's production of "Damn Yankees". Patrick Page is a Grammy award-winning actor and playwright currently playing Hades in "Hadestown". He looks back on his early years growing up in Oregon and becoming a professional magician wherein he toured an illusion show and won awards. He shares how doing magic gave him the validation he needed and taught him about audiences and how to hold the stage. Patrick eventually got deeply interested in acting as a craft and pursued it as a career. While he decided to go for a Liberal Arts degree, he also spent his college years performing in plays. He shares his audition story for The Utah Shakespeare Festival despite being unqualified. Patrick shares how because he didn't go to acting school, he sort of learned by failing. He also talks about the first time someone told him his way of work was out of line and why he considers that a good thing. Apart from acting and writing, Patrick also has an acting studio in New York where he teaches. He talks about the importance of time management and knowing what you can do and offer, his hearing loss and the struggles that came along with it, including having to rely on muscle memory, and pursuing acting not because it's how you wish to be perceived but because it is who you are. Patrick Page is an actor and playwright known for his role in "In the Heights", "Flesh and Bone", and "The Good Wife". His other TV and film credits include "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", "The Blacklist", "Evil", "Chicago P.D.", "Elementary", and "Spirited". He originated the roles of Norman Osborn and Green Goblin in "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark", The Grinch in Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical", and Hades in "Hadestown". Patrick's Broadway credits also include "Saint Joan", "Spring Awakening", "Beauty and the Beast", and "Lion King". His long list of stage credits also includes "Cymbeline" (New York Shakespeare Festival), "Richard II" (The Public Theatre), "The Sound of Music" (Carnegie Hall), "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (The Papermill Playhouse), and "Rex" (York Theatre). Back in 2017, the national tour of HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH was making its way to the Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, North Carolina. Prior to that, I was able to get in touch with the star of the show, Euan Morton. He originated the role of Boy George in the musical TABOO in London's West End (which earned him an Olivier Award nomination) and in New York (which earned him a Tony Award nomination). In addition, he received a Theatre World Award for Outstanding Broadway Debut. Additional main stem credits include CYRANO DE BERGERAC and SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM. He has numerous Off-Broadway and regional credits, including a production of MEASURE FOR PLEASURE at the Public Theatre that earned him an Obie Award, and PARADE at the Ford's Theatre as Leo Frank, for which he won a Helen Hayes Award. Euan also has an active concert career. He's released two solo albums and has had the pleasure of singing in many of the best concert venues around the country. Five productions of Come From Away have recently reopened around the world: Broadway, Toronto, London, Sydney and on tour across America. A live filmed version of the show is also streaming on Apple TV+. Irene and David won the 2019 Olivier Award and were nominated for the 2018 Grammy Award and the 2017 Tony Award for their book and score for Come From Away, with the show itself winning the 2019 Olivier Award for Best Musical, three 2017 Dora Mavor Moore Awards, four Helen Hayes Awards, five Outer Critics Circle Awards and three Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical.
