A band's name is your first impression, and sometimes it's all you need to hear to know you'll be a fan... Sometimes it's the opposite, and you know it'll never be for you. Either way, a band name is the source of their identity and eventually loses all textbook meaning, remaining only as a powerful symbol of the music it represents. Offense vs Michigan State Starts at 1:00 Introducing the MGoBlog post-game incident scale: 1 -- Kerfuffle 2 -- Fracas 3 -- Brewhaha 4 -- Melee 5 -- Donnybrook What happened after the game on Saturday was a kerfuffle. It felt like Michigan State came into the game with a solid plan while Michigan was struggling. Suddenly, Michigan was leading at halftime. Davis Warren's job was to not lose this game and he didn't, the ball wasn't put into danger and it worked. Donovan Edwards is no Tom Brady but he's got a perfect QB rating. 2. Defense vs Michigan State Starts at 35:15 Defense only gives up 17 points but it doesn't feel super great? But for the most part they did okay. Junior Colson set the bar for consistent tackling and now missed tackles are weird. They put Mason Graham at edge and got weird and then got beat by Michigan State 3rd down frippery. They're preventing their best players from making plays. Michigan State didn't put this game on Aidan Chiles' shoulders so we didn't get the full Chiles experience. Brian finally has a nice thing to say about Cal Haladay. Maybe Jesse Minter was just so good that no matter who was the defensive coordinator this year they would be perceived as bad. 3. Hot Takes, Game Theory, and Special Teams Starts at 1:01:08 We gotta have a brewhaha level of takes at least. Tommy Doman has continued to be inconsistent. Was State's on-side kick a good idea? The weird fair catch rule is something a lot of us didn't know about. Going for it on 4th down, tougher decision than last year! 4. Around the Big Ten with Jamie Mac Starts at 1:29:51 Indiana 31, Washington 17 Yardage was fairly even but Indiana grinded it out very consistently. They're 8-0 for the first time since 1967. Kurtis Rourke had surgery on his thumb and might be back this weekend. Ohio State 21, Nebraska 17 Indiana beat Nebraska 56-7, JUST SAYIN'. Ryan Day has a meltdown on the field and then tells fans to be happy about this game in his press conference. Ohio State fans are comparing their tackle situation to Michigan's QB situation. Penn State 28, Wisconsin 13 Drew Allar went out around halftime. It doesn't look like it's happening for Luke Fickell at Wisconsin. Penn State pretty much dominated down-for-down. USC 42, Rutgers 20 Pushed back til 11pm EST kickoff to accommodate the World Series?? How many of you sickos (me) watched this? Iowa 40, Northwestern 14 They benched Cade McNamara! Northwestern only had 163 yards of offense. Oregon 38, Illinois 9 Eek. Minnesota 48, Maryland 23 Never competitive. MUSIC: "Rubberneckin'"-- Elvis "This Is Why We Fight" -- The Decembrists "When They Fight, They Fight" -- The Generationals “Across 110th Street”—JJ Johnson and his Orchestra

For several decades, Ray Hartmann was a regular on the Nine Network's Donnybrook where he often clashed with other St. Louis journalists about a litany of local issues. He also started the Riverfront Times, which regularly took a contrarian view about politics and culture in the St. Louis region. But earlier this year, Hartmann announced he was leaving the journalism world to take on U.S. Rep. Ann Wagner, R-Ballwin. And on an episode of the Politically Speaking podcast, Hartmann made the case that he would be a more present and effective legislator for the 2nd Congressional District, which includes a large swath of the St. Louis region. “Our politics are broken and Congress is broken,” Hartmann said. “And I've been in the public eye for a long time, and I just felt this was the time to step up.”
Presumptive 1st Congressional District, Congressman Wesley Bell, started things off with some insightful comments, indicating his willingness, to work together, with other elected officials in the first district, for the betterment of all first district residents. ---- Bell, appears to be comfortable, with embracing his new role as Congressman, for Missouri's 1st Congressional District. ----- Ray Hartmann, is the Democratic candidate for Congress, in the 2nd Congressional District, a seat long occupied by incumbent, Republican Ann Wagner, joined us at the bottom of the first hour. ------ Hartmann was the owner and publisher of the Riverfront Times and StLouis Magazine. Ray is also well known after 37 years, as a staunch liberal on Donnybrook, on the local PBS station, channel nine. ------ Ray Hartmann, has always through his publications, supported the African American Community's, rights, to fair treatment in criminal justice matters and a woman's right to choose, he subscribes to a “progressive” agenda. ------ Hartmann, does acknowledge that his is an “up hill battle” to unseat six term incumbent Ann Wagner, in Missouri's 2nd Congressional District, in the upcoming November General Elections. ----- We next spoke with Tameka Dovail Stigers, a founding member, of the grass roots organization, North St. Louis Business Coalition. The group, led the efforts to bring attention to what they refer to as the “atrocious mismanagement” of the North City Small Business & Non-Profit Grant Program, led by SLDC. ------ Ron Himes, founder director of our world renowned, St. Louis Black Repertory Company, rounded off two hours of informative, entertaining and interesting conversations on the 175th episode of the Kdhx podcast Tangazo. ------ Himes, is entering his 48th year, as director of the black communities, most venerable and prestigious cultural institution. ----- The theater group, is hosting its annual fall fundraiser at CASA, scheduled for November 9th, featuring the Golden Voices Choir, of Spellman College. Jazz Diva, Denise Thimes's, is one of this year's Woodie awards recipients Old friend Rudy Nickens, longtime Black Repertory supporter, will also receive an award for his work and dedication to human and civil rights for all people. This week's host Pat Leahy is joined by Harry McGee and Jack Horgan-Jones to look back on the week in politics:· The fallout from Apple's tax case continues with what to with decision on what to do with the €13bn plus interest expected within three weeks. The windfall won't be available to the State until next March, but some sources in Government are saying there is already a consensus among Coalition parties that pressing infrastructure requirements and housing are at the top of the shopping list. · Speaking at Fine Gael's think-in in Tullamore Taoiseach Simon Harris backed a public childcare model, moving away from a reliance on private sector care. But would this potential restructuring result in a raft of new State employees? Sinn Féin stopped short of a public childcare model, instead pledging to reduce the financial burden on parents with the introduction of €10-a-day childcare from 2025 if it is in power after general election.· And Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald reflected this week on a trauma-filled year for her and her family, a year in which she and her husband Martin Lanigan dealt with serious issues.Plus, the panellists pick their favourite IT reads of the week:· Corinna Hardgrave pulled no punches with her one-star review of a new eatery in Donnybrook.· Ken Early on the gulf in class as Ireland were dismissed by England in a one-sided game at the Aviva stadium last Saturday.· Harry McGee picked his own article looking at the farcical infighting at the National Party.
