How does curiosity help in your career? Curiosity leads to discovery and it can be fostered or suppressed. Christina (Tina) Lovelock and Adrian Reed join us for a discussion about curiosity and a global initiative they've launched called BA School Day. Curiosity allows us to explore and learn. For business analysis professionals, learning and asking effective questions are an important part of the role. But curiosity has no bounds in terms of job role. For example, storytelling and understanding the mechanics of a story, are a skill that can be used across many disciplines, and this has an element of curiosity and creativity. Susan says “business analysis professionals are professional learners” in our discussion. Adrian chats with us about how sales roles some similarities to business analysis. Can curiosity be developed? Tina shares her thoughts on how practicing curiosity can help us get more information to help us be more successful. Sometimes it can be intimidating to ask questions, and organizations can help or hinder this through their culture. By fostering an environment that's safe to ask questions, organizations can improve their performance. Tina and Adrian share details about their initiative called the BA School Day. This is to raise awareness of the business analysis career for students in schools, colleges, and universities. It will help inform and inspire BAs of the future. It's an opportunity for the business analysis community to engage their local community with resources from the website and make a pledge. Go to https://baschool.day/ to learn more. Talking real estate is always popular, the last time we spoke to Adrian Reed from Reed & Co Real Estate Noosa, it was one of our most listened to podcasts. Since then, we’ve had a few different factors and events that may have had an impact on the property market. A federal election, an RBA cash rate cut and just where is Noosa Council at when it comes to their new Noosa Plan, potentially restricting short-term holiday letting to specially zoned areas. And that’s where we start this podcast.
Everyone loves talking real estate and there’s no hotter topic in Noosa than who bought where for what and predicting the next hot spots. The name Don Reed has been associated with the Noosa Real Estate market for a long time and Adrian Reed, Don’s son, from Reed & Co Real Estate is my guest on today’s podcast. If you own property that you rent out as a holiday rental or maybe you’ve had your home listed as an Air B’n’B, are you aware that there’s a potential massive game changer currently being examined by Noosa council that may stop you from renting your property out as a holiday rental? More on that in this podcast. Also, Adrian talks about the next growth suburb, where the big multi-million-dollar sales have happened and is Noosa a good place for residential property investors when compared to our capital Brisbane, an hour down the road?
Adrian Reed helps us explore the BA career path, career growth options, and actions you can take to grow in your career as a Business Analyst. The post MBA168: Exploring the BA Career Path appeared first on Mastering Business Analysis.

Business analyst and prolific blogger Adrian Reed gives his formula for successful collaboration. He explains how to spot quasi-collaboration; how to break through the fog of busywork to create real collaboration and the essential practical ingredients of collaborations that work.
In this episode we talk with Adrian Reed about pre-project problem analysis which is also the topic of his workshop at our BA Boot Camp on the 11h of May 2016 in Vienna. In his practical and interactive session he focusses on how to carry out problem analysis either before a project has been initiated or during the project’s early stages. He will provide tools and techniques that everyone can use early in the project process.
