Norman Thurston, HB208 Teacher Licensure Amendments, which would remove the requirement for teachers in Utah to pass a competency test before being allowed to take charge of a classroom. Utah’s plan for reducing cell phone usage in classrooms Utah is one of several states that is trying to ban cell phones in classrooms. This has become a huge problem due to the fact that many students are constantly on their phones during class to the point that they don’t even look up. So what’s the solution? Eye on the Hill: What did and didn’t happen? We are this close to the end of the 2024 Legislative Session. We’ve spent so much time talking about what did happen, but not enough of what didn’t happen. Greg and Leah go over some of the issues that didn’t receive too much attention this session, such as water, homelessness, and more. Could Utah be turning into a ‘purple’ state? Utah is very clearly a ‘red’ state. However, there may be some data that suggests that we could be slowly but gradually turning purple.
