The following timely commentary by Laura Flanders aired on GritTV in the summer of 2014. At the same time as the Iraq Sinjar crisis, Gaza was experiencing the 2014 Gaza War (Operation Protective Edge), a 50-day conflict  between Israel and Hamas that began in July 2014. The war involved intense Israeli airstrikes and a ground invasion in response to Hamas rocket attacks, resulting in over 2,000 Palestinian deaths (mostly civilians) and significant destruction in Gaza. Israeli casualties included 67 soldiers and six civilians.  The US response in Gaza was primarily diplomatic. URGENT REQUEST TO OUR FOLLOWERS: Support independent media in the fight against authoritarianism. I will not compare death to death. I will not compare I will not compare… “Welcome to my morning mantra. It's been a long hot news summer and it's important to remember the rules. Under prevailing US media law, you may not compare a killing to a killing. You may not say the word Palestinian for example and then in the same sentence, say Yazidi. You may not compare. You may not compare… The rules are very clear, especially when it comes to the Middle East.I, for example, may not compare destruction to destruction. It is best, in fact, if I do not even contemplate or wonder about men and women and children trapped without food and medicine and drinking water under siege on a mountain top, and at the same time, contemplate or wonder about men and women and children trapped without food and medicine and drinking water under siege on a place near a beach.A mountain under siege is not to be compared to a beach besieged. That's simple enough. After all, a mountain is very different from a beach.I will not compare. I will not compare… In particular I will not compare a destroyed mosque in Mosul with a destroyed mosque in Khuzaa. And I absolutely will not compare the motivations of the uniformed soldiers whom I hear laugh and cheer on a videotape out of Gaza as they explode that mosque in Khuzaa, with the motivations of any men anywhere committing war crimes.- Even if I can't get that laughter and cheering out of my head.I may not compare, I may not compare. Why? Because comparisons are odious, of course, and politics is complicated. You heard the president, the U.S. "cannot and should not intervene every time there's a crisis in the world.”Some require the U.S. to act to help the people besieged. Some require the US to act to help the people doing the besieging. To compare is to risk blurring the differences and the differences are all important. To recap the rules: it is wrong to compare. You can not say: a life is a life. You can not say words like oil and money and markets. You can not ask what's the difference between a mountain and a beach.I'm Laura Flanders. This past year was not easy. But 2024 certainly was eventful. Joe Biden dropped out of the race at the eleventh hour, and Kamala Harris's swift anointment brought us the joy of Brat summer. There was not one, but two assassination attempts against Donald Trump; the continued wars in Ukraine, Israel, Gaza, and Lebanon; the sudden and surprising fall of the Assad regime in Syria; the murder of a CEO (and Luigi Mania); mystery drones over New Jersey; and finally, Trump's decisive reelection to the White House.  On a cheerier note, 2024 was also the year of breakdancing at the Paris Olympics; Claudine Gay's resignation from Harvard; SpaceX's first commercial spacewalk; and Israel's epic spy-thriller, pager-explosion attack on Hezbollah—not to mention they took out Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas's Yahya Sinwar as well.  So, what will 2025 bring?  We are starting the year, as we did last December, with a special 2025 predictions episode of Honestly. We called up some friends of the pod—people we trust in their fields—to get a better sense of what's in store for the year ahead.  Political analyst and former spokesperson at the Department of Justice Sarah Isgur tells us what we can expect in the Trump 2.0 White House. Linguist John McWhorter looks at new words and how language will evolve in the coming months. Our very own Suzy Weiss talks us through the cultural calendar. Stylist Leandra Medine clues us in on fashion trends in 2025, and last but not least: Historian Niall Ferguson tells us, as he did last year as well, whether or not we're right to have nightmares about World War III—but for real this time.  Some guests cheered us up, whereas others freaked us out. All of them were a pleasure to talk to. Following the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre in Israel, universities throughout America experienced a sharp rise in hostility toward Jews.“I have lost every single non-Jewish friend I had at Harvard—every single one,” said student activist Shabbos Kestenbaum.A proud Orthodox Jew and a former self-described “die-hard liberal,” Kestenbaum endorsed Donald Trump and voted Republican for the first time in his life, believing that the Democratic Party had systematically abandoned Jewish Americans.“As an Orthodox Jew, I grew up with the ideals of: You are an American and proudly so, and you're Jewish and proudly so. The two were never contradictory. They were quite complimentary. ... They very much influenced each other. As I said in my speech at the Republican Convention, Jewish values are American values. American values are Jewish values,” says Kestenbaum.Harvard University came under particular scrutiny for its failure to combat anti-Semitism on campus, ultimately leading to the forced resignation of its president, Claudine Gay. Today, Kestenbaum is suing his alma mater, alleging federal violations of the Civil Rights Act, under which, due to Trump's 2019 executive order concerning Title VI, Jewish students are now protected.“When we filed our lawsuit in mid-January, Harvard's response was not to apologize. It was not to acknowledge the reality of anti-Semitism. It was not to tell us what they were going to do. They filed a motion to dismiss with prejudice, meaning they were asking a judge not only to toss out our lawsuit but to make it so that no other Jewish student in the future would be able to hold them accountable for anti-Semitism,” says Kestenbaum. “To this day, they have not articulated a single policy that would prevent what happened to me from ever happening again to any student, Jew or not.”Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

The showing was the first campus audience to view the film. Eylon sits down with Rabbi Zarchi to discuss the ongoing issues faced by Jews on Harvard campus, Zarchi's criticism of Harvard's stance on antisemitism and described "an atmosphere of fear for Jewish students" while speaking in front of Harvard president Claudine Gay and that Harvard does not allow Chabad to keep a menorah displayed overnight due to fears of vandalism.Co-Creator and Host - Eylon LevyCo-Creator and Creative Director - Guy RossExecutive Producer - Asher Westropp-EvansDirector - Lotem SegevGraphics - Thomas GirschEditor/Assistant Director - Benny GoldmanStay up to date at:https://www.stateofanationpodcast.com/X: https://twitter.com/stateofapodInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/stateofapod/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... Anybody think Donald Trump had time to come up with a few ideas while he was on his 4-year hiatus. The Dept of Govt Efficiency? Democrats are reeling, and they don't even know why. The cabal is the most unhappy. And they are the most dangerous. The average American will be pleased FAST as Trump makes wholesale changes to the bureaucracy. I like most of his appointments. Some are out of the box. We will discuss these more down the line. Pete Hegseth is the one I found most interesting. Let's go ahead and play the Lawrence O'Donnell attempt to ridicule Elon Musk on his appointment.   [X] SB – MSNBC Lawrence O'Donnell on Elon Musk appointment   https://x.com/VigilantFox/status/1856109761420247164 Mark Cuban deleted ALL his Kamala Harris tweets.   Democrats still don't get it. They won't embarrass us into quitting. We aren't like them.  I ask for your indulgence this segment, as I want to play a series of audio where the Democrats guaranteed victory, repeated… [X] SB – Various people on Trump will lose   We've won the election, and there are still those among you who really haven't changed. You're happy for the win, but you can't speak freely. With us in control, you still won't tell people who you voted for, and your cryptic when asked.      [X] SB – 60 Minutes ask Democrat who voted for Trump why       Democrats are crying at work, [X] SB – Black woman voted for celebs to leave The View hasn't changed. They unhappily sharing their grief, and you refuse to celebrate. Compassion be danged, these people rode us hard and put us up wet, and we still want to show compassion. They derided us in about every way possible, with name-calling, isolation, ostracized us, and even tried to kill the This is a great piece that highlights why we should be thankful for Democrats. Because they are actually mostly responsible for the MASSIVE MAGA WIN. Yes, we did our parts and certainly Trump did his. But what drove Trump into the race?   Dear https://www.newsweek.com/topic/democratic-party, and its allies and accomplices, Donald Trump supporters I know have asked me to dedicate some space to thank you for all you did to make their momentous win on November 5 a reality. They insist they couldn't have done it without your help. Here's a partial list of the many people and things Trump voters told me they believe fueled their victory. First of all, thank you for not listening to us or trying to understand us over the past 8 years. Thank you for choosing to call us names like "fascist," "bigot," and "racist" whenever we disagreed with you. Thank you, liberal media sources, for giving Never Trumpers a platform—for proving, finally, that there are conservatives you'll give equal airtime. Thank you for running with Fusion GPS and the https://www.newsweek.com/topic/democrats' fake Russian Dossier story. Thank you to the former 51 former intelligence officials who signed a letter in 2020 falsely claiming the https://www.newsweek.com/topic/hunter-biden laptop story was Russian disinformation. You started a movement. Thank you to the mayors and governors who locked down our schools, churches, and businesses without concern for the damage you did to our way of life and our kids' mental health—and all in the name of protecting us. Thank you, Democratic Party, for impeaching President Trump not once but twice. Thanks, https://www.newsweek.com/topic/jack-smith, https://www.newsweek.com/topic/alvin-bragg, Letitia James, and https://www.newsweek.com/topic/fani-willis, for using your legal power and discretion to prosecute President Trump. Thank you, NCAA leadership, for using your rulemaking power to allow biological men to compete in women's sports. And thanks for calling us "transphobes" for standing up for the rights of our sisters, daughters, and wives to not share locker rooms with people with male genitals. Thanks, Justice https://www.newsweek.com/topic/ketanji-brown-jackson for your answer to a question about what defines a woman during your https://www.newsweek.com/topic/senate confirmation hearing. "I am not a biologist" was the perfect response. Thank you, President https://www.newsweek.com/topic/joe-biden, for signing the Inflation Reduction Act, which increased inflation. Thank you for imposing electric vehicle mandates on auto manufacturers that drove up the price of gas-powered cars and left American manufacturers with mountains of EV losses. Thank you for your commitment to put American coal miners out of their jobs—while China continues to build coal-powered plants fueled by dirtier coal from Russian and Indonesian mines. Thanks for your student debt cancellation, which infuriated those of us who paid our student loans, and others who never went to college in the first place. That sure was unifying. And thank you for doubling down on https://www.newsweek.com/topic/hillary-clinton's "basket of deplorables" comment with your description of us as "garbage." Thank you, whoever you are, for coming up with the term "Bidenomics."     Thank you, https://www.newsweek.com/topic/janet-yellen, for insisting that inflation was "transitory" for months on end, while grocery, electric, gas, and housing bills skyrocketed. And thank you, Democratic Party, for blaming that inflation on price gouging and greedy business owners. Keep that tired old talking point going! Thanks to the DEI officers across the country for not including conservatives and Christians in your diversity and inclusion regimes. Thanks to the Defund the Police movement for making our streets less safe and letting us know what you think about the 750,000 men and women in law enforcement who protect us. Thank you especially to donors like https://www.newsweek.com/topic/george-soros for funding progressive district attorneys who turned their cities into open shooting ranges. Thank you, college professors, for teaching our kids that all white people are racists and privileged, that socialism is good and capitalism is bad, and that Israel is an oppressor. Thanks, President Biden, for seeking a second term. Thanks to everyone who concealed the president's cognitive impairments until you couldn't. Thanks, Democratic Party, for installing an unproven candidate rather than letting Democratic voters choose their own. Now we know what you really think about us! Thanks, Kamala Harris, for telling two college students who shouted out the words "Christ is Lord" that they were at "the wrong rally"—to cheers from your adoring fans. And thank you for fully embracing war hawks like Dick and https://www.newsweek.com/topic/liz-cheney. Those moments really showed us what you mean by "inclusivity." In December, the presidents of three universities were summoned to Congress for hearings about whether a climate of antisemitism exists on campuses. Politicians like Elise Stefanik made headlines, and two of the presidents, including Harvard's Claudine Gay, were soon out of their posts. The Harvard law professor Randall Kennedy wrote an essay for the London Review of Books about the reverberations of those events. “Folks were out to get Claudine Gay from the get-go,” he thinks, “and were going to use any openings with which to do that”—for reasons that had little to do with protecting Jews. Kennedy tells David Remnick about a lawsuit against Harvard that would equate opposition to Zionism with antisemitism, and render a range of thinkers (including many Jews) unteachable. And “this,” Kennedy asserts, “is very dangerous.” This segment is part of the New Yorker Radio Hour's episode devoted to the protests and the speech issues that college campuses have raised.

In this conversation, they talk about the concept of prescriptive racism, which Erec wrote about in a recent Boston Globe column, and ask whether the emergence of the concept of microaggressions has resulted mainly in people steering clear of one another. They also discuss what's happened on college campuses since Erec was on the podcast a year ago, including the ouster of college presidents like Harvard's Claudine Gay and U Penn's Liz Magill over free speech policies. He also discusses what he was like as a college student carrying around a copy of Emerson's Self-Reliance and how he would have felt if he'd been told that he was living under the thumb of white supremacy. From Cambridge to Los Angeles and at dozens of schools in between, campuses are roiled by protest against American financial and military support for Israel's war in Gaza—and by university actions, including mass arrests, to suppress the protesters. There hasn't been a college protest movement as widespread since the Vietnam War. Apart from the violence in the Middle East, the protests also engage crucial issues of speech and academic freedom in the context of America's culture war. David Remnick looks at the turmoil and its reverberations through the lens of one campus, Harvard University, where much of the furor began. He speaks with a protester whose statement justifying the October 7th Hamas attack became a political flashpoint; two student journalists who covered the resignation of the university's president Claudine Gay; the law-school professor Randall Kennedy; and the former Harvard president Lawrence Summers.

This week on the Mark Levin show, just because it's a new year does not mean we can expect anything different from the Biden Administration regarding the border, the economy, or the Middle East. We are under an insurrection right now, not January 6, and the Democrat media is accountable for the great divide in this country by not reporting the truth. Harvard's millionaire serial plagiarist and moral reprobate Claudine Gay has become a media, civil rights, and Democrat Party hero overnight, not because she's a victim but because she got to be president of Harvard by means of the American Marxist agenda. Also, the meaning of the 14th Amendment is clear, it was written to identify Confederate officers as insurrectionists, but Democrats are rewriting history to make that include the President so it can be applied to Trump. This won't stop people like Chris Christie from going on The View and sounding like an unhinged blithering idiot to call Trump an insurrectionist. President Biden's angry January 6th speech wasn't just a speech about January 6, he was sending a message to the DOJ and Jack Smith – Trump is Hitler and you must stop him because the voters may not. This speech was directed at Jack Smith, the Supreme Court, the judges, the prosecutors, and the jury pool to stop Trump before election day. Biden's speech insinuated that you're Nazis because you won't vote for him. Biden wants you to think about January 6 not about Joe Biden. He doesn't want you to think about his utter policy failures. He doesn't want you to think about his wide-open border. He wants you to think he's George Washington and Donald Trump is Hitler. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, Harvard's millionaire serial plagiarist and moral reprobate Claudine Gay has become a media, civil rights, and Democrat Party hero overnight, not because she's a victim but because she got to be president of Harvard by means of the American Marxist agenda. The same people defending Gay are among the most vicious, hateful, and vile figures smearing Clarence Thomas or any conservative minority. The American Marxists own our colleges and universities, and they want no oversight, no transparency, and no real academic freedom and free speech on these campuses because they are the Marxist indoctrination mills of the Democrat Party. Gay is the quintessential result of the ideological advancement of the left. Also, Democrats want the 2024 presidential election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden to be Adolf Hitler versus George Washington. Biden will do or say anything for power and it is repulsive, and will run a campaign of lies against Trump. Biden hates America and Democracy, which is why he promotes Marxism and equity at every turn and racializes every event. Later, the 1,000-page Jeffrey Epstein list was released, and it is not good news for people like Prince Andrew and Bill Clinton. Despite the effort by the left to smear people like Trump and Alan Dershowitz, there is no evidence connecting them with Epstein's criminal activity. Finally, Mark speaks with Kansas State Representative Michael Murphy about the Convention of States movement and the last great hope we have to address the reengineering of our constitutional republic by the radical left.
