In the Bond (007) episode of “I Learned It From You”; Zach, FINALLY, gets to have a chat with craft beer aficionado and the first contest winning comedian he ever met in Dwight Simmons. In this particular trip down memory lane, Dwight shares tales about the 4th of July parties (dare I say bangers) he'd have with his “Granny”, the random things he came across when working in the kitchen of his father's restaurant and how a day filled with arcades, amusement parks and White Castle ended in him being grounded. Be sure to check out Dwight Simmons on Instagram and YouTube where you'll find his web series “BrewTube” which highlights both local comedy and craft beer scenes. He's also got 2 standup albums, Pacifist Aggressive and Sip & Pass, which are, highly recommended. On the 6th episode of “I Learned It From You”, Zach is just thrilled to be joined by Caitlin Peluffo, one of the funniest folks he's had the pleasure of crossing paths with on the road that is standup comedy. Caitlin has some wonderful tales to be shared including how the birth of her baby sister is something that she will never forget and how, despite her pleas of innocence as a young girl, her family believed she was a criminal at her core. As mentioned before, Caitlin is one of the funniest standup comics out there so be sure to check out her appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and check out her podcast, "Good Time Gal", wherever you listen to your pods. On the 5th episode of “I Learned It From You”, Zach is joined by one of his best friends and favorite comics, Adam Degi. In addition to the fellas both being standup comics, they have a lot more in common including that their fathers were both in the stained glass business and are, currently, dead. Listen as the guys talk about the embarrassment of being caught masturbating, their temper tantrum tainted teen years and the beauty of a dad joke. Be sure to check out Adam's original album "His Name is My Name Too", keep an eye out for his brand new album called "Limp Nodes" and, as always, be sure to follow him on social media at @AdamDegi I Learned it From You is hosted by Zach Martina - Follow on Instagram & TikTok Produced/edited by Brett Mercer (@brett_mercer_) Music by Brad Goff (@Brad.Goff.Music) Graphics by Trevor Smith (@heytrevorsmith) PLEASE RATE/REVIEW/SUBSCRIBE and, for the love of God, tell some friends! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/zachmartina/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/zachmartina/support
In the fourth installment of “I Learned It From You”, Diego Attanasio joins Zach as a brand new father! Their little chat dives into so much, including: being the favorite parent and the joys that come with it, creative & excusable ways to get out of the house and we take a look back at everyones very first apartment, the womb. Give Diego a follow on Instagram at @diegocomedy and be sure to check him out on stages across the country as he is, truly, one of the finest comedians Michigan has to offer. On the third episode of “I Learned It From You”, Chris Schlichting joins Zach as his first guest with both children and parents! The discussion hits the depths of that moment a parent becomes their child's friend, questioning of the quality of the parenting you received and pitting his twin boys against each other in a pee wee wrestling match. It's the best improvised comedy podcast about conspiracy theories! The Truthcast has been called been called Beavis and Butt-head meets The X-Files. That's insulting. The TRUTHCAST is your ONLY source of the hard hitting news "they're" too scared to tell you about. It most certainly is NOT a parody of a conspiracy theory podcast turned homoerotic soap opera. This week Thomas, Dickie and Walter attempt to speak to world renowned conspiracy theorist and extraterrestrial expert Bob Lazar, but are interrupted by their old friend RAYDAR who has some breaking news regarding the former, current and future President Donald J. Trump. RAYDAR was played by Brett Mercer. Idea: To use Boston Dynamics robotic dogs to save the lives of people whose hearts have stopped by jumping on their chests and rapidly cooling their bodies, thus giving rescuers an extra hour or two to revive them. Also: "ice dogs" roaming the neighborhood looking for medical emergencies and, in the meantime, serving as police dogs and package delivery dogs; the risk of "ice dogs" sticking to your body like a frozen flagpole; robotic "hot dogs" to prevent malfunctioning "ice dogs" from freezing healthy people to death Matt Harper (twitter.com/MattHarperJokes anotherepisodepodcast.podbean.com twitch.tv/mattopoly83) Brett Mercer (twitter.com/brettmercer_ bigtimegarbage.libsyn.com linktr.ee/Brettmercer) Johnny Mocny (twitter.com/JohnnyMocny linktr.ee/wearemoviespod) Tom Walma (twitter.com/thomaswalma)
Idea: A reality TV show where a family temporarily replaces the dad with a washed-up action movie star, such as Steven Seagal or Brian Bosworth. The action star would complain that his whole body aches and begrudgingly participate in family-oriented events organized by the reality show. He could be so horrible that he makes the family more appreciative of their real dad, or he could sleep with the mom and destroy the family. Also: action moms; solving every family problem using violence (for example, beating up a hostile neighbor); the family could help the action star more than the action star helps the family; the dad could temporarily live the action star's life and act in a SyFy channel B-movie involving a natural disaster and a random predatory animal Matt Harper (twitter.com/MattHarperJokes anotherepisodepodcast.podbean.com twitch.tv/mattopoly83) Brett Mercer (twitter.com/brettmercer_ bigtimegarbage.libsyn.com linktr.ee/Brettmercer) Johnny Mocny (twitter.com/JohnnyMocny linktr.ee/wearemoviespod) Tom Walma (twitter.com/thomaswalma)
Idea: A redesign of Netflix which is actually good. It'll be good because a) the shows are better (obviously), and because b) it'll offer a much more immersive experience. It'll support immersion into a particular movie or TV show by including commentaries, Arsenio Hall talk show promotional segments, bloopers, and other bonus content related to the movie or TV show. It'll also support immersion into the time period of the movie or TV show by showing TV commercials from the time period (and allowing you to buy the old-timey products in the commercials), by enabling censorship rules from the time period, by simulating audio/video quality problems of the time period (such as tracking issues), and by simulating other inconveniences from the time period (such as stopping the video stream at 1:00 AM to simulate the local TV broadcast tower shutting down for the night) Matt Harper (twitter.com/MattHarperJokes anotherepisodepodcast.podbean.com twitch.tv/mattopoly83) Brett Mercer (twitter.com/brettmercer_ bigtimegarbage.libsyn.com linktr.ee/Brettmercer) Johnny Mocny (twitter.com/JohnnyMocny linktr.ee/wearemoviespod) Tom Walma (twitter.com/thomaswalma)
Idea: A DJ-in-a-box for a Covid-era wedding (or other social event). It'd be extremely cheap because the socially-distanced event would only have around 10 people in attendance and therefore wouldn't justify the cost of a normal DJ. It'd consist of an oscillating fan with some laser pointers taped to it, a pack of three "smart light bulbs" to put around the venue, and a Spotify playlist which you say is customized but is actually the same playlist for every wedding. Also: a self-hating DJ; optional add-ons like a holographic DJ, a celebrity Cameo for a wedding toast, and an entire wedding-in-a-box; a sad single person ordering a DJ-in-a-box to use alone in his apartment Matt Harper (twitter.com/MattHarperJokes anotherepisodepodcast.podbean.com twitch.tv/mattopoly83) Brett Mercer (twitter.com/brettmercer_ bigtimegarbage.libsyn.com linktr.ee/Brettmercer) Johnny Mocny (twitter.com/JohnnyMocny linktr.ee/wearemoviespod) Tom Walma (twitter.com/thomaswalma)

Unable to find a worthy cohost, Thomas Luge attempts to record solo, but is soon joined by past guest, computer hacker RAYDAR. The two begin a mailbag episode, before a surprise guest named Big Dickie Rickets crashes the podcast. Big Dickie Rickets definitely is not Lil' Dickie Rickets. RAYDAR, on the other hand, is comedian Brett Mercer. Brett is one of the cohosts of the Big Time Garbage podcast, a weekly conversation with Brett, Bart Dangus and Blain Hill. So many questions as Thomas and Dickie go before the honorable Judge Barnes. Will Thomas be savvy enough to defend against the prosecution Crikey Talbot? Is Judge Barnes masturbating throughout this entire episode? How's the bailiff's community service going? What's up with Crikey's accent? Judge Barnes was played by Jason Brent, who is a real life legal guy and was worried about making the court room stuff sound realistic...even though it was for a podcast where you can travel through time by drinking the urine of Viet Nam vets. The bailiff was played by Paul Allen...who had no idea we were going to shove a microphone in his face. The jury foreman was EJ Watson, who was totally busy and walking past us when we shoved the mic in his face too. Connor Meade, Jimmy Doom, Brett Mercer and Tim Den Otter recorded their parts months ago, but hopefully it was fairly seamless when you listened today. Thought Cops is a podcast that is ran out of chicago where each week Officer Kevin and Officer Grant talk about what's outraging the internet, then sentence each offender to a cruel and often unusual punishment. It's a great show, we've been mutually supporting each other for a while and since we haven't figured out a good way to do remote recording, i thought why not just post up the episode I did with them a few weeks ago. Consider supporting their patreon and joining their active discord and join the discussion about all the stuff online that makes everyone mad.
It's that time of the week, folks: garbage day, once again. Our good friend Brett Mercer of Big Time Garbage was in Neo-Chicago this week so you know that we had to do it to 'em. iTunes: Listen, subscribe, leave a review Support the show on Patreon Field Notes We might have had a little too much Malört this episode, but that's never stopped us from doing our civic duty and doing it like a mother fucking sir. So, have a seat, this one's a wild one. Oh, but uh, before ya do, keep in mind chairs are gendered now too, and cock and ball torture is mandatory. So whether you got a man hole or something else, no one is safe. Being that Brett is visiting, we need to discuss the problem with Chicago pizza elitists, and put an end once and for all to the thinkpieces about what a real Chicago pizza is. We don't play games here, and we aren't Monopoly truthers either. Pass go and tell your friends to listen to Thought Cops. Click here to buy Thought Cops t-shirts and mugs. Author and pundit Rodney Dangerfield sits down with the Truth boys to speak about the rumor that professional wrestling is fake. Unfortunately due to apparent miscommunication the interview is cut short. Thomas and Dickie hope to revisit the subject again in the future with a more cooperative guest. Rodney Dangerfield was not injured during the recording of this podcast, and more importantly was not played by comedian Brad Wenzel. To verify that for yourself, go to www.bradcomedy.com and download his album Sweet Nothing produced by Jack White, yeah, that Jack White, and watch his three appearances on Conan, yeah, that Conan! Brad also has two podcasts of his own: We Wrote Jokes for This and Pod Seger. I'm not sure why it's even worth mentioning Raydar. He isn't in this episode, but if he were, he definitely wasn't played by comedian Brett Mercer. Brett is brilliant and performs all over Detroit very regularly. Thomas Luge bears a passing resemblance to Alex Bozinovic from the That's Bullshit, Right podcast. Dickie Rickets does look like a less handsome of Mike Bobbitt. Support this podcast
You may have noticed that the first four episodes of the TRUTHcast have been the victim of cyber tampering. In this episode we meet the culprit. It's the mysterious hacker known only to us as RAYDAR! This one is intense. Thomas Luge again is definitely not played by Alex Bozinovic. Dickie Rickets bears no resemblance to Mike Bobbitt. We have no idea who the masked man is who calls himself RAYDAR, but it would be absurd to think it's comedian Brett Mercer from the Big Time Garbage Podcast. Support this podcast
Happy Garbage Day, everybody! This week on Thought Cops, we have returning champion Brett Mercer of Big Time Garbage! Support the show on Patreon Show Notes As we mentioned this episode, there's a new shirt for sale on the Thought Cops store. I hope to sell at least one of them. This week, we uncover the problems with the #yanggang and memetic warfare, an episode of the Simpsons promoting a child abuser 30 years ago, Tucker Carlson's problematic statements from 10 years ago, dumbshit reality-deconstructing alien comics, the "cult" of Coloradoism, and another shitty meme format. Brett Mercer, Blain Hill and I sit down to talk comedy and theorize on what the fuck is wrong with us and why are we trying to do this. You can catch all of us at Big Time Garbage Comedy Fest this weekend in Detroit. Dec. 7th-10. bigtimegarbagefest.com
Listen in as I sit down with Brett Mercer while driving to and from a show, talking about our favorite local comedian's bits and the Detroit comedy scene. From the city of Detroit, MI, Brett Mercer delivers a unique brand of off-beat comedy that toes the line between observational and irreverent. His quick wit, improvisational tone, and meticulously crafted word puzzles create absurd vignettes that catch audiences off guard by playing on expectations, and re-imagining conventions. Brett has shared the stage with Johnny Pembrton, Josh Fadem, Paul F. Tompkins, Luis J Gomez and Andy Kindler. Co-Producer of Detroit Comedy Underground, Chuckie Finster, Prankis, and Comedy Night at GhostLight co-host of the Big Time Garbage podcast
Alex Stypula was in town from Pittsburgh and we all sat down to talk about the absurdities of stand up after a show that night
Brett Mercer and I podcast after leaving our second show of the night. Pumped from what a great night it was.
Welcome Dad-bods, Mansplainers, and ladies, to another episode of Thought Cops! It’s a crossover episode this week as stand-up comedian and follow podcaster Brett Mercer of Big Time Garbage joins us in the battle for a good Skype connection. Make sure to check em out. “Future Prez” Zuckerberg (yes, president abbreviated with a Z, yes, it is mandatory) saves the planet by speaking directly from the epicenter of the Puerto Rico crisis using a fucking Mii from Wii Sports. Here’s that weird Lindsey Lohan video we mention in the episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxC97nF1YZY I'd link the original video, but it's been deleted, so, sorry for linking you to The Young Turks. My mistake. Geniuses across the country cause mass temper tantrums trying to get a small box filled with ketchup and teriyaki sauce. What could it be?! You’ll have to listen to find out! Dove fucks up, Hollywood fucks up, lots of people fuck up. But with great fuck ups, come great responsibilities. Or something like that. Don’t forget, you’re part of the show, too! Call us at our voicemail 312-788-7361 with any stories or punishments you want the world to know about, and we’ll play it on the show! Seriously! Also don't forget to subscribe to us on iTunes!

Episode 29: A smart, topical, and meta sitcom about workers at an animation studio who never get to finish their movie because real world news keeps necessitating plot changes (00:45 @Brett_Mercer_), a social networking app to share other people's roles in your life, as if your life was a movie, such as "clumsy waiter", "creepy security guard", or "hot girl who lives on my floor" (13:05 Corey Rice), a serialized horror podcast set in a dystopian future where a group of people being forced to spend their entire lives in a giant haunted skyscraper talk amongst each other and try to figure out what's happening (27:40 Bryan Harrison @DonnchaRedbeard), a series of soundproof rooms along the walls of a movie theatre in which small groups of people can talk to each other and use their cell phones while watching the movie (34:50 @thomaswalma).
